We love Stans donuts. However, we went there at 3pm on a Wednesday excited to get these shakes we love just to be told that they're out of ice cream and it. Took us by surprise to hear that. We don't live close and this is something we drove far for just to be let down. This of course made us turn around and leave without purchasing the other food we came for. UPDATE (from 3 stars to 1): Well, we decided to try again today (a little over a month later). Considering it's a shake I had while pregnant and loved it so much I still crave it to this day! Was extremely hopeful but that hope was shot down. My husband ran to get the shakes while I sat in the car with our baby. He was gone for what felt like an eternity. He ordered the shakes after the guy working was confused by the request. After 12 mins he went up to see what was taking so long. He was informed that they had ran out of ice cream and had to run to get more. This would have been nice to know as he wouldn't have waited but unfortunately had already paid. To make it even worse the biscoff shakes he had ordered weren't even correct. We got chocolate shakes that tasted like absolute crap. Such a shame. I'd like to say third times a charm but I really don't believe that could be the case. read more

I've ordered before and didn't like them, but decided to give them another chance. I got a variety this time, and since they were out of some of the ones I wanted when I ordered on doordash, they threw in a few free ones. Well, they didn't have the basic ones I wanted, like glazed and that's all my husband wanted. I don't know why every time I eat one, no matter which I get, they taste stale. So far the pistachio cake one is the only one I've semi liked. I think I'm done giving these a chance. They get 2 stars because they were nice enough to give me extra donuts and the pistachio was a nice surprise. read more

WOW Donuts the size of which we have never experienced. Nearly $7 for two donuts and NO this did not include coffee. My blueberry fritter took me three separate attempts over two days to eat it all . My wife tried some sort of chocolate, peanut butter donut which was even bigger. This place offers many different varieties and the line on Friday was like twenty deep and there was no way we were about to get in a line that long. We arrived early on Saturday morning and had a very short wait with only a few folks in front of us. I went to Stans Donuts and purchased a few for friends who are crazy about donuts that I was seeing in the evening. I purchased a Nutella pocket, banana peanut butter with chocolate frosting, and a strawberry frosted. I also purchased an iced mocha. The coffee was good. The donuts were good. The service met expectations. I am just not sure what the hype is about. The product is expensive. I paid Just over $16 for 3 donuts and a coffee. While they were good donuts, I am not sure I would pay it again. I will say - the shop itself is cute but not necessarily laid out well. It is confusing initially to place orders in two different spots - one for coffee and one for donuts. Customers did fumble around each other a little to get napkins and such because the front is small. All in all - I am probably not going to return. read more

Visiting from California, the only Stan's Donuts we had was one in Westwood that closed due to COVID; so, I was really excited to try Stan's donut selection. I ordered a half dozen: Glaze, Buttermilk Bar, Cronut, Boston Creme, Apple Fritter, Biscoff Pocket. The Glaze and Apple Fritter were everything I expected from those two classic donuts -- although, the Apple Fritter did lack the crunch from the glaze that I love. Their Cronut was the first I ever had, and it was much different than what I expected as it had a cinnamon sugar coating and pastry cream filling. The Cronut was by far their best donut. The Buttermilk Bar was also very good, much better than a standard glaze long bar. My least two favorites were the Biscoff Pocket and Boston Creme. The Biscoff Pocket wasn't bad: it definitely tasted like Biscoff, but there wasn't much of a "pocket" containing the Biscoff Cookie Butter. Lastly, the Boston Creme... by far the worst donut I've ever had in my entire life. I was so disappointed because Boston Cremes are in my top-2 favorite donuts. Stan's Boston Creme barely had any filling and the dough tasted very much like a wheat bread (very strange). Overall, I wouldn't recommend the Boston Creme nor the pocket donuts, as I'm not sure how much filling they have; however, their Cronut, glazed, and buttermilk bar were some of the best donuts I've ever had in my life. read more

It says a lot when you go to Oakbrook Center for a dress and the only thing you leave with is a Stan's Donut (sans dress) . I was immediately overwhelmed by all the different flavors peering at me through the glass display case but after much deliberation I ordered a Lemon Pistachio Old Fashion donut. A moist lemon center surrounded by a slightly crunchy exterior with a little coat of pistachio frosting sprinkled with actual pistachio nuts. Easily hit the spot. It was a tad pricy for one donut -- totaling $2.80 so definitely can't make this a daily affair but for a splurge every now and again it is well worth it. They also offer La Columbe cold brew on tap (!!!). As one of my favorite coffee shops in the city it's nice to know I can come to Stan's and quench more than a donut craving. read more

I hate giving Stan's a less than 5 star review but I had a major strike two with them today. The donuts are phenomenal. Absolutely the best. But the service... not even close. The 1st strike was a rude staff member. Didn't write a review. Figured everyone has bad days. But today, was definitely strike 2 and worthy of this review. Today, my husband and I ordered a half dozen (6) standard donuts and when we got home there was only five in the box. ...5. I didn't want to love you, Stan's, but I knew I had no choice. Your bright pink façade, giant window full of donut selections, mouthwatering aromas, and mysterious, constant lines of people are what drew me in. And now I can't stay away. The cherry old fashioned and the nutella pocket are seriously amongst some of the most delicious things I've ever put in my mouth. A close second? Their DRAFT cold brew coffee and lattes. They'll add vanilla syrup for a small upcharge, and THAT my friends, might be heaven. And for as bustling and crazy as this location ALWAYS is, the people working there are SO nice, so patient, so accommodating and helpful. It doesn't even make sense. Also: they make DONUT CAKES. Try ordering one for your next work party and become a hero of your office, as I recently did. They personalize them, too! I can't say enough good things about Stan's. As much as I'm excited and happy that there's a Stan's in the suburbs, I would rather go to the Stan's downtown because the service is way better and the donuts are actually fresh unlike at this location. Ambience: this location is pretty much a permanent pop up stand unlike the Chicago locations which are actual stores. It is by the entrance of the food court. Service: the service is slow and disorganized as other Yelpers have described. I don't like the guy who takes the orders because he seems bored and disinterested every time I go there and order donuts and I had been there more than once already. I don't like that there's only one person taking orders and wish more staff would help him out. They seem lost when they do the orders because they messed up my order and it took forever to get the refund. The people who make the drinks don't seem fully trained because they are slow when they make the drinks. They made it seem like they broke the ice cream machine because they take forever making my ice cream shakes. The staff needs more training and enthusiasm. Food: people are complaining about the price but you are paying for the name/chain. The donuts at this location are so dry and not fresh. There's no oven in sight so I'm pretty sure the donuts are delivered from Chicago by truck. My mom didn't like her coffee and said she would rather go to Dunkin and get her coffee there. Stick to the ice cream shakes which are the best things to order, even if it is $5. Verdict: This place is a miss. I would rather go out of my way and visit the downtown location, even if parking is difficult than order donuts from this location. read more

I have seen Stan's long lines every time I visit the Oak Brook Mall. The other day was without exception as I was intrigued to the point of also jumping into the long line and awaiting some guilty pleasures. I had not seen the menu prior to arriving to the goods and was rather nervous when I stepped up to the counter. I felt impatient little eyes staring at me from both behind me and at the counter. I ended up ordering two donuts, a Butterfingers pocket and a chocolate cake donut. I was amazed at the lack of options for a $1.85 donut, nothing chocolate at all! I was therefore forced to order the two upgraded options. The chocolate cake was not too flavorful and I was expecting more filling in the pocket. It's a tiny kiosk in a food court type of setting, but they have an efficient set up so you can get through the line quickly and be on your way. I'm not a big donut person. It's probably last on my list of go to "desserts"/"breakfast" item. However, Stan, my man you've won my heart with yours. My first experience was sometime last year where I remembered having some sort of bacon maple chocolate long john and I just couldn't phantom how it was a "donut." I was a donut newbie, all I knew was Dunkin. Upon having a piece of the long john I was in heaven with the sweetness of the sugar and the saltiness of the bacon, yum. Fast forward to a few months ago and at a baby shower there was a variety of mini donuts and they were a big hit. The perfect size for a sweet craving. Most recent I stopped by this location to check it out, not necessarily looking to get anything since we were about to have dinner and catch a show. However, they had me at coconut cake. I love coconut. Coconut smoothies, coconut ice cream, coconut water. And the apple fritter caught my half's eyes. The coconut cake was extremely moist and just the right amount of coconut. If you weren't careful with handling it, you might of lost some to the floor. The apple fritter was the real winner. Perfect for breakfast with a cup of coffee, afternoon munchie or late night snack. I've always been a fan of Stan's Donuts. I came here on the 1st day during the Grand Opening. Boy was the line long, BUT I was one of the first 100! I won some cool swag and they offered a free donut. It was very well organized - even standing out in the cold, I had no issues. One of the employees even gave gift cards to those who didn't make the first 100 - that I thought, was such an awesome gesture! Once inside, I wasn't aware of all of the coffee options, I opted for just a regular coffee but later realized I could have jazzed it up a bit. Dah well, they'll be other opportunities for me to partake. Just glad they finally opened a location in the 'burbs! read more

Having heard great chatter about the LA location, we had to try out the shop. Hitting right at mid-afternoon on a Friday, there was a healthy line, moving along at a good pace. Lovely array of donuts, tiered based on price and specialty. Ordered a dozen, asking for a 2 of each pointed out. But ended up with 6 individuals as the top layer in the box, bottom was 6 iced sprinkles, which we did not choose :(. Also ordered two specialties, a decent cinnamon sugar and a cardboard-like glutenless one (always a difficult recipe). Though containing incorrect items, the packaging is on-point, absolutely beautiful! There's even a handy flap to open and sneak a donut out. Also ordered milkshakes, a vanilla and a swirl, served with adorable mini-donuts around the straw, great presentation! But both were watery and did not have the expected thickness of a shake. I love Stan's Donuts and I was ecstatic to learn that they would finally open a location closer to my home in the suburbs. The Oak Brook location sits right in the heart of the shopping center, in addition to other food places. With that being said, it's convenient to just stop by and grab something sweet after a hard day of shopping or wanting a dessert after a meal in one of the many restaurants around the same area. Have always heard nice things about the Stan's Donuts locations in Chicago, so was really interested when I saw this location had popped up here at Oak Brook Center. Variety of the doughnuts here is amazing! All sorts of classic flavors as well as ones I have not seen elsewhere ever. Vegan and gluten-free doughnuts are available as well! I split an assorted dozen (Comes with four "Standards," four from the specialty varieties, and four from the "Doughboy's Best" list) with my girlfriend and two friends. At first I was skeptical about thirty dollars for a dozen doughnuts, but after a bite of the Glazed Orange Old Fashioned, I knew it was worth it! The doughnut was really fluffy on the inside with a very tangy, citrus-y flavor with a nice coat of glaze and bits of orange peel pieces on the outside. So much flavor and enjoyable texture in a doughnut! Next I had a little piece of a Blueberry Bismarck. It's like a jelly doughnut, except this thing was not filled with your usual syrup-like jelly. The filling in it was a very thick, vibrantly flavored blueberry jam. My girlfriend said it was "like jelly you would find on a hundred dollar PB and J sandwich." Feeling adventurous, I went for the Lemon Pistachio Old Fashioned. Like the Orange Old Fashioned, the doughnut had a nice tangy flavor. The pistachio glaze on it was very solid on the pistachio flavor which I liked a lot. The end of my experience was with the Biscoff Pocket. I really like Biscoff cookies, so my expectations for this one were high. Expectations met! The cream inside the puffy square doughnut had a Biscoff cookies-flavored cream inside with a nice caramel glaze on top of the doughnut that really made it perfect! Even if you're not a big fan of spending more for higher quality, I would still highly recommend at least splitting a doughnut (or a few of them!) from Stan's with someone special at least once. It's great! Definitely will be back to try out other flavors! read more

I guess there's a first for everything. I ordered 4 donuts for myself and my mini. We would frequent the city locations so when this location opened up, the excitement was real! I went to take a bite of my red velvet donut and it didn't seem to be fully cooked. It seemed slightly doughy but still good. Took a few more bites, still tasted good but then I found a hair. Broke off some more pieces of donut and found more hair. I think I almost died. At this point, I just ended up throwing it away. I have 2 more donuts in the box and I'm hoping that there's no "added ingredients" in there. read more

I will always choose fancy donuts over dunkin or Mariano's. I have tried them all and I'm glad the expanded from labriola. The only thing I don't like about this location is not being able to see the options because every one huddles right in front of the display case. They do have a screen with the options but the screen will not display what is available. I hope they change this soon. You have to come supper early to get the best selections and if you go right before closing you can get a mini donut for $1. read more
