Staples sucks ass. Been a Staples reward member since 2001. I bought Sodastream syrup 3 weeks ago for just $5 and wanted to do an even exchange for another variety - had the receipt - seems simple enough ... Not at Staples! Cashier had to call the inept manager over to explain to me because I used my Staples Rewards that they already expired and they couldn't refund it towards an exchange. However their "no receipt" policy will give store credit for the lowest price on a product in the last 30 days? So if I return and say I paid cash and lost my receipt they will honor an exchange? Can't see them being in business much longer with that kind of service. read more

I used this Staples for the first time to print my Xmas cards. Ordered on line and liked the idea I could pick up in the store in 4 hours. I was called the next day and told my order was ready. So far so good. When I arrived at the copy area, my order of xmas cards were taken to the register to be rung up, I stopped the guy and asked to see them before he rung them up. I discovered they were too dark, I expressed my dissatisfaction, he then offered to reprint them on another printer to see if it will be lighter. I had to wait 20 mins in the store for the reprint, which turned out only a bit brighter. At that point I just wanted to just get my cards and leave as I needed to get them in the mail. After I got home I realised I did not get any envelopes. I called the store and made them aware of the lack of envelopes. I was then told that theydo not give envelopes for in house printed xmas cards. This made no sense to me. I went on line to see if I missed where it said that and only found where it said envelopes were included in the price. I called back the store and this time asked to speak to a manager, I was transferred to the Sales Manager who told me the same thing. She added if I opted to have their 3rd party do the card printing, envelopes would be provided but in house printing does not provide envelopes. I told her Walgreens provides envelopes for inhouse printing. Her response was she will let "them" know customes are wanting what Walgreens is providing. I asked again for envelopes, she told me she had not to give me I would have to buy them from the store. I told it is like buying a car then be told by the sales man "sorry the tires does not come with the tires". I requested the name of another manager as I was not satified with this service. She gave me the District Manager's name and number. I did call him and after 2 days he did call me back, I told him what my issue was and to his credit he approved vis the store manager to give me a full refund and provide me with envelopes. I would not use Staples again for any Xmas card printing and based on the type of in store service they might have just lost a customer. read more

I went into this store about 3 p.m.on August 30. I was tired and hot, having been searching in vain for bankers boxes. A young man came and helped me. He carried the boxes, found other boxes I needed and carried it all up to the check stand. After a quick check out I left with what I needed and was cooled off and greatly appreciative of the good service. Thank you! read more

This place deserves negative stars!!! I ordered 4 items online and opted for the 1hr pickup. Waited 4hrs to receive a confirmation email that my 2 out of 4 items were available and ready for pickup. The store manager, Javier, and cashier, Justin, were so slow- physically and mentally! I bought other items in the store and wanted to exchange an item I purchased online for a in-store version since it was cheaper... that also took forever. I don't even think the cashier did the return process correctly since I was still billed for it! This transaction was a week ago! The item costed $9.99 as much as I want a refund... I don't think I want to spend another minute trying to explain the error... I value my time more! My favorite part of all this... the cashier hands me my receipts and doesn't bag any of my items! (I would've bagged my stuff myself if I had access to the bags!) How am I suppose to lug all the stuff I just bought to my car? SMH!!!! Where's the "easy" button again? read more

I love staples and I am always impressed by the customer service. EXCEPT when I come in the Staples on Rosecrans and sports arena. I've been in here twice and both times left appalled. Here is the list: 1. Absolutely not one person helping customers with questions about products or helping customers find products. 2. 15 minutes standing at the print area and never acknowledged (no line). I had to ask for help from the three employees (one was a team leader) talking about casino girls and cussing. 3. One employee had pants hanging below his but and had to hold them up (check the video Staples). My girlfriend was offended at the entire Staples experience. This was a pretty standard Staples. Several people asked me if I needed help, but they all had to ask someone else where to find the things I needed. Things were neat and organized. But, I didn't really feel safe going here. There were 4 bums hanging right out front the door. The prices were all rather high. I was shocked when I checked out. The management here is absolutely top notch. I came in with an issue regarding a product and Julio did what most people don't. He went beyond the scope of immediate answers and took the time to problem solve with me. I went to another Staples just before coming to this one and was waved off with a canned and probably severely over used "14-day policy" spiel. The ability to find answers where other people cannot is a true representation of work ethic. Moreover, if you want your business to do well and retain customer trust, then you need to have a better way of dealing with faulty and defective products. My experience with this store is thankfully different than the others'. I bought an executive chair online from Staples in January. Unfortunately, it broke pretty badly. Instead of hauling it in, I took pictures and hoped it would suffice. Bernie, the manager on duty was extremely kind and helpful. Without any hassle at all he refunded the money and gave me a discount on a new chair. With that kind of service, I could easily keep coming back. read more

Staples has become my new go to for office assistance...copies, fax, computer access etc. normally when I go in there I'm usually in a panic because I'm always in a hurry and careless usually making mistakes. I went there tonight to print a ticket as my printer was out of ink. It was just a simple 8.5x11" sheet to be able to get into the concert. I live a few blocks away and I used this staples regularly. Walked in the door went to the print center and I was told that they couldn't have it printed and that they could have it by tomorrow. Of course the person in the print center was being quite unreasonable and unwilling to do anything for me. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH that Eddie was working there, who was very proactive and was able to print the ticket out for me in seconds. That is what I'm talking about. A++ to Eddie who actually cares about customers and that makes Staples look good. The other employee there should be fired honestly. After reading most of the comments, I realize that the customer service at this location is absolutely HORRIBLE. The only reason this is a 5 star review, is because of Eddie. Previously I had a really good experience. I was able to use self scanning services super easy. And even though I did not need her help the girl working in the department was super friendly. Today I stood there trying to get the scanner working, as it kept saying it was restarting. Finally I decided to ask the staff and stood there being ignored for a while to eventually be told "yeah, that's not working. It's been on and off all morning " (so why not put a sign, I wonder?). So I ask "don't you do scanning ". I was directed to a kiosk in corner that was not working either. I just walked out & found the better, cheaper, family owned Ocean Beach business center. read more

I had a friend load my big new printer into my car and went fearfully to the Staples store. It had been 5 weeks since it was delivered from Staples online, because my tech installer was dealing with a family crisis and was out of town for 5 weeks. Staples not only OFFERED to carry the huge box into their store, and although they mentioned I had bought it beyond the 2 week return policy and online not from their store, in but a few minutes they had a return label emailed to them for return to the online site, gave me a credit for that machine which I had failed to notice was not wireless, and had a very sharp young man choose for me the best replacement. Which they hauled out to my car for me. All 3 of the staff with whom I spoke was respectful, friendly and absolutely customer-oriented. On top of being severely overpriced, this location has shady service. Was told I would get a 2% discount for becoming a rewards member. So I signed up and the total didn't change. I told her I signed up so I could see the discount reflected on my price. She walked away to "enter my info" an came back and the total was the exact same. Horrible customer service. Went to have binding done & the woman was clueless saying the person who runs the department is out to lunch. Was asked to wait 5 minutes and she will be back. She returns and is told I need assistance and basically took her sweet time coming over to me to answer my questions. Once I decided, and placed my order- she continually stopped my project to help other customers. A job that should take 10 minutes took almost 40 minutes because she would stop and help others. Juan A., the Copy & Print supervisor (I had to look him up on LinkedIn to find out his credentials) completely exceeded my expectations this afternoon while I was trying to get a poster laminated. He was not only professional - he did a great job laminating my artwork - but more importantly, he was extremely kind, helpful, and accommodating. I go in to do self service copies and the blasted machines are set to make only 8.5 x 14 copies. No matter what I do the things won't register I'm trying to make 8.5 by 11s. After looking like a dork for 10 minutes and watching the idiot salespeople wander around in a zombie trance I left in disgust. The next day I went to the Mission Valley Staples, punched in for my size, made a hundred copies, and was done in three minutes. This place is a total joke. Easy button my ass. So my printer is having issues and I stopped in here after my work out at the gym to print a one-page document. I stood at the counter for 5 minutes while the woman working there was taking phone calls and trying not to make eye contact with me. Finally she got off the phone and waddled over to me and I handed her my flash drive. She was unable to pull up my document because I saved it on my Mac at home. Wow, I mean, LOADS of people use Macs and this stupid store isn't even compatible to print, let alone convert Mac documents. So then I asked her if I could access my e-mail from her computer and print it that way, and she said she didn't have internet. Ugh. So I asked if I could send the document via my Droid to her work station using Blue Tooth. She said that was fine. Then the phone rang and she was on it for another 4 minutes (yes I timed her). So she waddled back over to me and handed me a note with the store's e-mail address on it (thought she said they didn't have internet). Finally, after 15 minutes of dicking around, I printed my document. This woman was simply awful. She took phone calls as being bigger priorities than her in in-store customers, she didn't make eye contact with me, she mumbled, was slow, seemed stupid as to what she was doing, and she just acted as if she hated her job and didn't give a damn. While I was waiting, they kept paging the store manager for 10 minutes saying that he/she had a call on hold. I am not joking. They kept announcing it at high volume. I hope for the sake of customers the store manager was interviewing people to work in the print center. On my way out I saw a case of bottled water for $3.99, and decided to buy it. A woman with a cart load full of things cut right in front of me. I gave her a dirty look and said "really lady", then I went to move to another register and as soon as the guy saw me coming to his counter he said he was closed and made me wait at the other one. Then when I went to pay for the water it came to over $5. The fat dumpy woman told me that a CA tax on bottles water made the price higher. I told her that they could have advertised this, and then she made a snotty remark that it was written up there somewhere. In short stupid, lazy people work here. This is one good staples, clean store, friendly staff and everyone is more than helpful. Their print & copy center does a great job, you can email them your doc's or call them in and they get them done and available for pick up very quickly. I'm in this store a lot, Justin was very helpful for me this week when I was trying to buy some accessories for my new computer, Tony the Manager helped me find some other things and my print job was done an hour after I emailed it over. They carry a lot of products that other staples and office max and depot don't. If I ever need to order anything online I can send it here and pick it up, plus they do free shipping on print jobs over $50. read more

Wow I just had the best customer experience I have had anywhere in years!!! I ordered a banner online and received a call from Jessica saying it was ready to pick up. When I mentioned that we mistakenly ordered the wrong size she told me to come take a look and then decide. When I got to the store we were acknowledged and greeted immediately by the sales clerk. A simple hello and welcome but sadly a rarity these days. I found Jessica (turns out she is the manager) and she showed me the banner (which did look great ...just big). She and another employee Mary took their time helping me figure out what size I needed and how I could make the banner better. They gave me some great advice and showed me right away how it would look on their computer. Mary is super knowledgeable about photoshop so was able to help me make some changes. They also gave me some other great marketing ideas - table posters that again they could help me create and print. My whole family was really impressed and we left excited about my new banner and plans for additional marketing material. At dinner my husband and I commented on the fact that sadly you never get customer service like this anymore anywhere. Again super helpful, knowledgeable people in this store that care about customer relations and doing a good job. I will tell all of my friends to come here if you need any printing. My last visit to Staples Sports Arena was dreadful and definitely my last. Buy a bottle of Wite-Out? No, they only come in two's at double the price. Buy Turbotax software? No. Does it include State? No one in the store knew. Call corporate to find out. Corporate did not answer the number they gave at 4 o'clock on a weekday. Return 10 ink cartridges and get $2 each? No. My receipt shows I got zero. Go online and take their survey so the store manager will see your feedback? A serious misquote on a printing job has left my employer and me doing some serious scrambling. Originally quoted over the phone $110 for 500, I was astonished at the jump to $350 for 300 when I took my documents into print. This store deserves no star, whatsoever!!! Monday, January 8, 2018, I called Staples to ask them for help with the pricey 3-ring binder my son-in-law bought for his daughter: One metal ring snapped off and pages were being ripped from their sections whenever the binder was opened. The customer service rep answering the phone told me to bring it in and they'd replace it with the same binder if it was still in stock (IT IS). She did not ask me to bring in a receipt or ask any other questions, so I thought it was safe to believe that they were going to honor the purchase of a defective product with a replacement. Because my granddaughter has a hectic school schedule this week, it was nearly 8:30 on Thursday before I could take it to the store for the replacement--a 20 mile round trip. I was not prepared for the defensiveness and rudeness I encountered--the "manager" on duty demanded the receipt and the name of the customer service representative who told me to come in (I had already told her I was NOT the purchaser, and could not, therefore, give her a receipt). She demanded to know how my son-in-law had paid for the item and where. It began to sound as though she thought he had stolen the binder! She refused to honor the original promise to replace the binder. She said it was too late to return defective merchandise--it seems you have two weeks from the date of purchase to discover defects in manufacturing and after that, it's buyer beware. This is not the promise they make to you when buying--they're full of sweet assurances that they stand behind their products and have a hassle-free return policy. This is not the customer service you expect when you do business with a store for as many years as we have, so there will be no future purchases from this or any other Staples store for my family or our business. There are many other competitors who actually stand behind their products and don't hire personnel for their pit bull personalities. There is a prologue to this Yelp--Staples pulled a dishonest practice on me a few months ago and then tried to make up for it with a $20 coupon--it's still in my purse because I still have a bad taste from the earlier incident and haven't wanted to do business with them again. If I had known my son-in-law wanted to buy school supplies for his daughter, I'd have warned him that his money would be wasted there. To wrap it up, if you buy from Staples, keep the receipt forever--even though it will not be honored after the 2-week period of returns, and realize that their business motto is 'buyer beware.' read more

I needed a colored rendering copied and after going to 2 Reprographics companies, i gave Staples a try in a last ditch effort. Kalsey worked with me for at least 10-15 minutes to make sure I was ultimately happy with their service... and i was! While helping me, every employee working behind the desk relied on her to answer and help every issue that developed. On top of all that, being all the drama of working in retail, Kalsey's last act while I was there was to handle an unnerving situation with a drugged local. I'll be back often read more

Unbelievably bad service at the printing service today. I spent 20 minutes waiting for this girl to help me while she huffed and puffed helping someone else ship one USPS envelope. She seemed absolutely overwhelmed by the task. I finally get my turn and I ask her to print 2 sheets of labels from a memory stick. She puffs again and asks me if they're formatted. I said yes. She puffs agains and tells that she just doesn't have the time to help me and besides she doesn't have to help me because during the holidays she's not obligated to do same day orders. WTF?! She says she needs to work on an order. I said "Are you saying you're too busy to simply hit print on your screen?!" She says yes. WOW There were no other customers there. I wish I could give no stars.....Hoping she'll make it on Santa's naughty list. Lame:( read more
