I love Staples....but hate this particular store. Went in today...manager shooting the bull with Staples person, while loooong line of customers with only one checker. The young girl was doing her best...answering the phone, helping incoming customers with questions, and then ringing up customers. I asked who the guy was that was standing across the way talking the whole time, and she grimaced and said "the manager." I asked if he ever helped out, and she said, "not really...always has something important to do." All I can say about this store, Alex the Tech guy is completely awesome! Great customer service skills and very knowledgeable about computers, tablets, viruses, etc. Helped me pick out an awesome lab top :) Staples need more people like Alex. I work nearby from this store. I have been sent here from our corporate office to pick up a few supplies. Every time I have been here the guy employees seem to be trying to pick up on their female coworkers. They seem to be bothered when you ask for help. And they only point you were to go to get the items you are looking for that they don't really have. After you get someone to walk you to the aisle where supposedly they have items then they find out they don't have none. Items I have walked in there to buy a tablet, chaulk, printer cartridges, shipping tubes, cork boards and other office miscellaneous stuff. One time out of every time I have been there I have bought one thing. I won't waste my time going there again. I give them zero stars. read more

Printing station costumer service is absolutely ridiculous. Their staff poorly trained and not accommodating to costumers.

I ordered one item for a friend and received the email that it was delivered to the store. My friend went to pick it up and they couldn't find it with the 3rd person he spoke to telling him it's not in even though he had a copy of the email saying that it was. He's called them back 3 times about the item and they all can't find the order. They evidently lost it somewhere in the store so it was re-ordered for him. Again, I got the email saying it was delivered to the store but again when he calls nobody there can find the order. It is now going on 3 weeks since the item was ordered and nobody at the store knows where it is. Judging by the majority of reviews of this store, this level of incompetence is the norm for this location. read more

stolen credit card!!! and store manager refuses to help me!!!!!!!!!! because i called him, no response, police contacted him, no response so two weeks later, (he was busy) so i call again asking him to please send survailance footage, he was waiting on someone and he has all the detectives information written down and because i was asking questions as to why it was taking so long he said you know what i am not going to help you, i will call the detective right now and let him know. you are harrasing me! please explain to me how a total of three phone calls in a two week period (two onthe same afternoon) is harrassment? did i mention this individual attempted to charge my card at 3 different stores a total of 4 different times and not one of the employees bothered to id the person who stole my card? real winners! buyer be ware! read more

Not the cleanest store that I've ever been in, but I've never had a problem in this store that couldn't be resolved. I've placed several print jobs and they are usually completed same day or next day. The staff has always been extremely polite and understanding. Recently, I placed an order for an oversized photo print, which I placed online very easily. When I arrived to pick up my order there was evidence of "streaking" (not smudging) on the print, which indicates that a cartridge needs to be changed or that a printhead is dirty or malfunctioning. I chose Staples because the price was literally 1/3 of what my normal online printer would charge. I was disappointed with what I saw, but brought my concerns to the CPC associate. She agreed with me that the photo didn't look great and offered to reprint it for me. I received an automated email stating that the order was ready to pick up within a few hours, but I couldn't go in until the next day. When I went in and she saw me, she found my order and showed me how it came out; gorgeous. She said that she replaced a cartridge and did some cleaning on the machine, and the difference was clear! She was polite and helped me tremendously. Although I was initially disappointed, I am so glad that I placed my order with this Staples. Overall, I'm really happy with the experience that I've had at this store. read more

While I was in the store tonight to buy a printer, I overheard an employee tell a customer buying a computer that floor models do not come with a manufacturer's warranty. The gentleman was savvy enough to know that they do and corrected him, and he pretended to sound surprised. I then heard the same associate tell another customer that their warranty covers the drum on a Brother laser printer, when in fact, it does not. From their own website: "Also not covered are replacement costs for lost or consumable parts" My purchase was very smooth and thank God I didn't have this associate "helping" me. I will be going to the nearby Mission Valley store instead in the future. read more

The male clerk who helped me took it out for me with a huge smile.....I am so thankful. I will now buy all my accounting needs at this store since they were so helpful. Had some extra time so I stopped by here on my way to visit family in San Diego. Purchased two reams of printer paper. Wanted to use the bathroom and noticed they were locked. Found an employee, a short blonde lady, and asked to have the door opened. She told me the men's room was not working. I said how about letting me use the women's. She said very coldly "we don't let men use the women's restroom." When I went to check out I asked who she was. The checker said that is the manager. What kind of customer service is that? Based on some of the other reviews here, it seems very reflective of how they like to operate. If I lived here, I would go out of my way to avoid this location. read more

Took my laptop in for a diagnostic and repair while on a business trip. The original diagnosis was for that the hard drive needed to be replaced (it had just been replaced a month before); it would be fixed with in a day. Two days later no fix or call back. When I did get in touch with the tech, it was that the hard drive connection was the problem and needed a replacement part. This took a few more days. When it finally arrived (a week later), it was replaced but another issue came up. In the meantime (it's now been 10days); we decided to go ahead with whatever was necessary to get it fixed. When the next part came in, that didn't work as well. So, the next decision that I made was to just have it sent back to me, as I had already departed from San Diego. It was to be shipped back to me, pre-paid, with a next day delivery promise. Well, that was not the case...it arrived a week later, by FedEx Ground! The asst. manager, John, had promised me a $100.00 Staples credit (which I never received). The laptop was in-operable, as the battery was dead. And, I could not get it to work at all. I was still charged for the services (credit card purchase). The promised phone calls back were not made. What they said and promised never happened. read more

Laquesta (sorry if the spelling is off) helped me find it and even price matched it for me, then suggested which usb to buy to save me money and get me the most out of it. Worst customer service I have ever experienced, anywhere, for anything. Except for maybe the first time I was here. Ditto everything Christopher W. and Brian B. have said (2/1/2013 and 3/20/13, respectively). The stores "manager" is beyond rude, downright hostile. Big attitude. Shady (pushing me to buy a replacement battery for one he's lost from a laptop he is selling - wtf!). He knows less than I do about the store's computers and tech services (and I'm no techie) so there's absolutely no basis for his unwavering arrogance. In a time crunch, I risked giving this store a second chance after a similar unsatisfying experience 8 months ago. A mistake I won't repeat -- never going back. May never shop a Staples again -- I consider the money I spend a vote; a company that ignores complaints like those posted here in no way deserves it. read more

It's my neighborhood Staples - whether I like it or not. The last time I had my own neighborhood Staples - it was hella lot better stocked. I figured out the best way to shop here though. Do it online. Yup. Open an account, select your items, and pay and have the items delivered here. There's a lot of items that are only listed online and have to be shipped to the particular Staples you want to pick up at so you're better off ordering online and just coming to pick your stuff up because - trust me - you won't find a whole lot of what you may be looking for in the store itself. Plus you get way better discounts online. In the past it seems like every single time I came to this store - when I walked in, there would be no customers at the cashier. However, it seemed like the moment I was ready to check out - every single customer in the freaking store was ALSO ready to check out and the cashiers moved like a postal worker in a giant jar of molasses. In January. Speaking of cashiers - one of those NASA engineers asked for my email address to send me my receipt and then gave me a printed receipt anyway. Wha?? But we're living in the age of the cloud, right? Heck with physical browsing in a store - unless it's food or something perishable they can gather those boxes for you to pick up at your own convenience. Parking kinda sucks. Not because it's hard to find parking. There's just a lot of traffic going THROUGH the lot itself - maybe because it can act as a shortcut between Sports Arena and Camino Del Rio plus the mall also houses an In 'N' Out. We all know those In 'N' Out customers drive like a bunch of deplorables so you gotta watch out when navigating this parking lot. Your mileage may vary. Oh yeah - one last thing. I went to this Staples because I needed a print job at the last minute: 20 Program Books for an event 3 days later. I had all of the files ready to be sent via their online service. The Copy/Print "Expert" basically yelled at me for not submitting the order earlier (the previous printer was unable to complete the job due to the tornadoes on the East Coast--NOT MY FAULT!). Then she told me that it was going to cost me $319.73 to do my order and that it couldn't be printed on 11x7 paper--it would be printed on 8 1/2x11 paper and then bound like an old-fashioned book report from middle school. Realizing that she probably had no clue what she was doing, I called a Staples down the street and was SO HAPPY to hear the guy at the Copy Center tell me that he would easily be able to print it on 7x11 paper and staple it down the middle, just like last year's event. Oh, and the total? $65.00. I think that lady was just trying to upsell me on something in combination with not knowing what she was talking about. I submitted my order online and had a very positive experience with the OTHER Staples location. I will NEVER go to this Staples on Sports Arena Blvd ever again after that horrible experience. read more

I went in today just for a quick copy that i needed, well for starters the copy machines wasn't working and then the girls working there are just awful!!! One of the girls helped me and then just charged me without giving me my original back, And took another customer so i had to wait even more time!!! Ugh even though she did that i still said "thank you" and she didn't even say "ur welcome" or even a "sorry"!!!! As having a LOT of customer service experience these girls need a whole lot of training or a new job because they obviously suck at this one!!!! read more

I work as a virtual assistant for many people and I recently had internet issues at the house so I went to this Staples store to do a simple transaction and I was extremely disappointed with their printing center. I wanted to print a document, stamp it with my bosses signature, scan it to my USB drive so I could then drive to a hot spot and email it to him. Simple, right! They refused to scan the document once I stamped it because my boss was not there to sign in person. WHAT? It was a document with HIS name, SS number, DR license, etc. and it was HIS signature on the stamp and it was going to be emailed to HIM. Not that they needed this detail. They "didn't feel comfortable" performing this task. I was blown away. I will never go to this Staples again. They are no help to me in my business. As a virtual assistant, I work as an extension of the people I support. I AGREE...they cannot see the forest for the trees here. Stay away. read more

My experiences at this store have been the absolute worst in customer service. I bought a $12 journal intended as a gift for my friend but decided to give her something else. I brought back the journal, with my receipt, within just a couple of weeks. They were still selling the same journal for the same price so I even grabbed one from the shelf. The employee said the item was not scanning. I told him to try scanning the same exact one they are currently offering for sale. He called a "manager" over. That manager proceeded to tell me that they cannot do the return because the item is not in their system and they can't scan it. I said, "What if I wasn't doing a return and just wanted to purchase this item, would it scan?" He looked at me dumbfounded. I asked him if their system was down. He said that I need to come back when a different manager is working, during business hours monday- friday only. Well, I have a job and nowhere does it say you can only make returns during business hours! This company really needs to hire better people and train them to provide basic services, such as a routine return with a receipt! read more

The printing department did a great job and really helped me out. They used upgraded paper and waived rush charges when another store waited a day to tell me they were out of gray ink. The colors and graphics came out crisp for an oversized engineering plan. read more

She dealt with my uncertainty and pickiness with the patience of a saint, called me multiple times with updates on my project, and gave me the pro's & con's of every option available. my review is specifically for their buy online pick up in store procedure. I would highly recommend against ever placing an online order with the intention of picking it up at this store. I do this because in most stores it a quick in and out convenient way to shop. At this store it is far from that. They have a so called online pick up area where you are ignored until you alert someone you are there. Then you continue to get ignored and that "someone" is pulling your order for you and it should be ready soon. five to ten more minutes pass and someone is still pulling your order and finally I have just gotten fed up and went and pulled the order myself. Then it takes another five minutes for a manager to come and release the order. Long story short dont place an online order here because they have zero procedure for this type of a situation and you are made to feel they you are burdening the workers. read more

Things have apparently changed a lot in this store since the scathing 2009 reviews -- this is the best Staples store I've visited in San Diego! First, the aisles are wide and the merchandise logically arranged. It was so nice I was actually lulled into browsing, no less - and I bought a few extra good deals I would not have noticed otherwise. Second, the staff was VERY friendly and helpful -- and twice immediately retrieved items I was searching for. All in all a great experience -- a big surprise. I'll definitely return again. read more

Very disappointed in the print shop customer service. I ordered business cards on line. The web site advertised completion in 4 hours. After a full day I tried to call and get the status of my order but the line was continually busy and couldn't get through. I drove to the store and was told the printer was down, had been all day and repairs would not happen until the next day. Rep said I would get a call when the job was complete. Brought my HP computer in to remove a virus and three weeks latter I have the same virus. I purchase Kaspersky virus program and still got a virus. I had another company remove the vrus today again. I requested a refund but the store manage refused. Do not do business with this store,there are many other places in san diego to spend your money. read more

I am one of those people who actually takes the time to submit rebates on items - I'm careful to follow instructions and submit all items needed. Twice now I have denials for 100% complete & accurately submitted rebates. The last time I wrote to the store manager to inform him of my problem (no response). I'd say if you are happy with the price before rebate, then purchase here. If you are counting on them fulfilling the rebate - shop elsewhere. read more
