One day I was at the Corte Madeira mall sitting outside in the commons area waiting for a friend. I noticed a man eating a salad, from Starbird, a few feet away from me. The salad looked amazing! A few days went by and I was STILL thinking of that salad. I was at work and didn't bring lunch. I decided to order a salad from Starbird using DoorDash (and I seldom order from delivery services). I have to shout out to DoorDash because they were fast and the delivery guy was nice. I ordered the Chicken Cobb and let me just say, it was worth it! Everything was good from the crispy tender chicken to the dressing. Only thing is that I wish they gave more dressing; but you can pay for extra dressing. If I could, I would order this everyday! My coworker saw my Starbird bag and she was craving for it as well! She ended up walking to the location to get something for lunch! I highly recommend the chicken Cobb salad!!! I think the $15.00 off is not enough to make up for the disappointing experience I had with my order. I believe it would be more fair to receive a replacement meal similar to the one I originally ordered. To be clear, it's only a pickup location for Starbird online/app orders, not a physical restaurant with seating. It's also in a sketchy alley with DoorDashers going in and out, so don't linger (or at least lock your car doors). Otherwise, I highly recommend Starbird itself. Try the Big Star sandwich or any of their salads (my fav is the Elote salad). Prices are also pretty good with nothing over $15 at base price. While I add an extra dollar for spicy flavored chicken, it's also good without heat, even though their spice isn't terribly hot. If you want a safer and more sit-down venue, try the Westborough/Colma location. read more

PRO: -I'm a huge fan of their tenders; they're perfectly fried on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. My favorite is the Lemon Garlic flavor, followed by the Nashville Blaze. I always pair these with the Truffle Aioli or the Garlic Aioli sauce -The Cobb salad is pretty good! There's not enough guac, so I add my own avocado CON: -the wings are dry. I don't get them anymore -their main thing is delivery, but you CAN do pickup. If you pick up, the tiny street can be a bit challenging to navigate. But service is lightning fast every time I go, a quick in and out. It helps to go with a friend who stays with the car, or park on Harrison or Bryant to avoid going into Morris St. I'm a fan. The nuggets were crispy, juicy, and I am such a big fan of their sauces! They include chips too. They were a little greasy for me. I did enjoy dipping them in the sauces too. I highly recommend their elote salad with crispy chicken. This is my favorite dish hands down. It's filling, I love the toppings, 12/10. I would pass on the chicken wings- I ordered them once and to be honest they are very very very small. It could be inflation hitting. Super convenient fast food place in the city. I tried their star bird hot chicken salad and it was delicious and filling. I ordered online and was able to choose up to 10 sauces which was great for someone that likes to try different types of sauces with their meal. My favorite was the honey bbq (tastes like the chick fil a sauce) and the star sauce (not sure what's exactly in it). So this Starbird Chicken isn't a location where you can sit down and munch but that doesn't make the food any less tastier or satisfying. It happens to be a close by ghost kitchen and I had the brilliant idea of picking it up myself. Brilliant. That is until I got there. I have a whole new level of respect for folks in the delivery game - for real tho. cause pick up and delivery ain't all that easy. There's no parking so, along with other folks picking up, you do the best you can and squeeze into whatever makeshift parking spot you can find. Then you run into this unmarked building that houses a couple other different ghost kitchens and find your order. It's both beautiful and chaotic to see and all wrapped up and conveniently to-go. Lesson here : tip your delivery folks well. I know I am cause I'm not trekking back down if I don't have to. Anyways, the food . . . It's not called Chinese chicken salad, but it looks like it, tastes like it, and I very much liked and appreciated it. Citrus. Sesame. Greens. Chicken. All harmoniously coexisting. If you are gluten, intolerant or celiac, do NOT eat at this location. I am the biggest fan of Starbird chicken. It's probably one of very few fast food places I can eat at being celiac however, this location is an absolute no go. I have been symptomatic since yesterday afternoon with a celiac flareup from the food that I had from this location. That type of flare up is not just from a mere exposure. It is abundantly clear that their kitchen mixes it fryers with the other foods from ghost kitchen. And if they don't, then it's clear that the cooks are frying other things in that oil. While no doubt, the food tasted OK, the aftermath is just awful. I will never go to this location ever again. Update: I ordered only the Elote chopped salad which is listed as GF and I have had this salad before at the South city location and had no symptoms. I'm extremely disappointed by most recent experience. I ordered from Starbird through an office catering service several days in advance. Up until today, I've never had this issue. The order was noted to be on track but as time passed, we did not receive our order. It was noted that the restaurant gave the order to the wrong delivery person and they could not be reached to rectify the situation. Ultimately the only thing I could do is cancel the order and I was left scrambling to find food for my office after the noted meal time. I ordered the Nashville HotBird, I love spicy foods and a big fan of hot chicken from Nashville (Miss my trips there). The chicken sandwich was only a little spicy, pretty oily and wasn't easy to eat. the bun was bigger than the chicken breast, making it pretty odd to eat. Overall the sandwich did not look anything like the advertised photo and just okay. I also ordered a side of fries with all of the sauces. I love to make sauces, so was very curious to try the Star Sauce, the Wasabi Aioli, Spicy Seoul Sauce, Sriracha Buffalo and the Honey Chipotle BBQ. Customer service isn't really anything to be excited about but it's really grab and go at that location. The food from Starbird Mission Bay was ordered via delivery and was soooo scrumptious.
