This review is for 01/14/2012. After visiting Castaic Lake, my friend and I decided to head on over to Burbank AMC 16 Theatres to catch the screening of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Since I was recovering from a cold, my throat wanted something warm to drink. I had to stop at Vancou....I mean Burbank's Starbucks. This Starbucks can't be missed. Its at a very busy intersection of San Fernando and Palm Ave. This location seems to always be busy, but its right on the path to the movie theatre and Burbank Town Center. We walked in around 5:30pm to a very crowded Starbucks. Tons of people outside enjoying the cold weather to people inside using their laptops. I still wonder why people use their laptops at the shops versus at home. The line was quite long. We were in line for about 10 minutes. My friend is not too familiar with Starbucks and just wanted water. I got myself a nice Venti White Chocolate Mocha ($4.55). I am glad this location has mobile payment. Just use my Android phone to pay for the drink without even pulling out my wallet. I love paying by phone with the Starbucks App. The wait was short since there was a ton of Baristas left and right making their orders. I never went to Starbucks in 2011, but it seems I have gone three times already in less than two weeks for 2012. I think the White Chocolate Mocha is my drink for this year. A couple years ago the Strawberry & Creme Frappauccino was my drink, but I slowly gone away from it. I hope this White Chocolate Mocha has a consistent flavor from each Starbucks location. This is a Starbucks, the staff was lovely and my happy hour frappuccino was yummy. I met up with a friend here. We were discussing a multi-billion dollar idea when things got heated. As you might expect my so called "friend" put a micro-sized robot in my drink designed to seek out my cerebral cortex and explode if I decided not to fund his project. I was a little upset that no one making my drink was aware of this micro-sized robot. If Starbucks put the thought and care into a video-relay service for individuals with hearing disabilities, you'd think they'd have an anti-micro-warfare service. Lame. Anyways you've probably already surmised I formed an alliance with Unicorns Incorporated LLC. So my friend "Cindy Mist," she's a Unicorn, she flew in and used telekinesis to crush the micro robot safely. My friend apologized and I gave him just a few million dollars as a respectful way of saying, 'I'm a nice person but I'm not going to fully fund your project, trying to explode brains is wrong and I hope you learn from this. The world is a beautiful place and diversity is important. Robots are fun... but everything in moderation, yeah?' Cindy Mist hung around for a while, they have free wifi and Cindy had to send out a few emails. If you're wondering how a Unicorn can operate a phone, you're in the majority. If you've never been to a Starbucks before; this is just a typical day, trust me. If you've been to A LOT of Starbucks and you've made it this far into the review, you're probably wondering why I didn't angrily complain about waiting 8 minutes for my frappuccino. Well, I'm generally not one to complain about long lines because it's a very natural part of a franchise. When a popular place gets populated, it becomes difficult for the staff to maintain the quality of speed you're used to comparatively. It doesn't mean the business is bad, it's completely circumstantial. It's like complaining about a crowded room not having enough space. You probably think MY review was asinine, but I invite you to scrutinize the scrutiny. I think a lot of people who review establishments have never worked the service industry. Perhaps they've never worked... at all. Perhaps if they had they wouldn't be on Yelp writing angry reviews about meaningless problems. Perhaps we should all take a page from Cindy's book... because Cindy is an OCD mythological book addict and it's fun to see a Unicorn flip out in the middle of reading "Pride and Prejudice." read more

You know your closet at home? Well it's bigger than this place. You know your hamper in that closet? Well it smells better than this place. For some reason no one in Burbank seems to mind these things, because they're all in this Starbucks, right now. Yes, all of Burbank is in there. It's always overcrowded and the line is always long. It smells like a mixture of burnt coffee bean (normal Starbucks) but times 100 + the stench of the poorly cleaned bathroom in the back. The one positive thing is that the staff is somewhat nice - but a barista named Leah is the only one who I've found to be great. Leah earns herself 5 stars... but the establishment itself earned a zero, which balances itself out at a 2. Very friendly and consistent service. Seating is somewhat limited so either go early or later in the day. Parking is at a premium, but this IS Los Angeles after all. They are located in a strip mall small corner shopping center so merging back into traffic can be an adventure. The worst experience I have ever had in this location. It is always busy there but that's not a problem for me. But the problem was, as I picked up my drink from the front, I also asked for a cup of water and they told me I must wait in a line to get a cup of water because they should put a lable on the cup for their inventory. I asked them twice but they wanted me to wait in a busy line. They don't care if you are chocking or dehydrated, basically they do not care for their customers, all they care is their business and inventory. Avoid this location at all cost. Definitely do not have a knack for inventory, majority of my mobile order I had placed were sold out (white chocolate mocha syrup and chips). Barristas are slower than sloths, even with zero crowds, took 15 minutes to try and complete my mobile order. Definitely won't be coming back to this location. Stopped for a quick coffee before a movie and Veronica was super friendly and kind, the place was busy but my cappuccino came out very fast!

By far the friendliest staff hands down. Every time I come in for a quick cup of coffee I feel as though I am walking into a smaller mom and pop stop where every one knows my name. Even though the barista's do not. The drinks I have ordered always come out perfect and consistent. I never have any complaints. I really like the small outdoor seating area, it's perfect for sipping coffee while reading or people watching. Just remember no smoking in Burbank, it's against the law and very expensive when you get caught and fined. I know it sucks, what goes hand and hand more so than a cigarette with your coffee? By far the busiest branch I have seen in LA - usually bursting at the seams with long lines and a fairly low chance of finding seats. I have a love hate relationship with this one. I love the location and the fact that it's open till late- it also has a small outside seating area which is nice. I hate the long wait for my drink though - make that very long when they are extra busy. But my biggest complaint is that the place has a really strange odour. I mean how hard is it to make it smell pleasant - you deal with coffee all day long- shouldn't that just be the natural aroma around?! Nope- somehow as you walk in you are overwhelmed with this weird stuffy airless reality that makes you feel like you are in the gym suffocating - clearly a ventilation problem but whatever it is - it's very off-putting and needs to be fixed. On the plus side, customer service is good and there's plenty of parking in downtown Burbank. Realistically this deserves 3.5 stars, but rounding it up to 4 since I can't do halves. read more

As a long time, devoted Starbucks fanatic, I have to say that I was really disappointed in this store's service. My boyfriend and I ducked in here before an early Saturday morning movie for some coffee and our favorite Chicken Sausage wraps. We have gone to numerous Starbucks together and ordered our usual. This was the first time we both came here, and kindly requested that our wraps be warmed up separately. Because the wraps come frozen, we've found that cooking them together will result in still-frozen centers. The barista guaranteed "no problem!" and we took our coffees/wraps and went on our way. Not 5 minutes later, we sat down to enjoy our wraps...aaaaaaand they were completely still frozen in the center :( read more
