Our 2017 summer vacation received an unexpected extension, and we left the Bay Area en route to Salt Lake City before 6AM on the Friday before the Fourth Of July weekend. With traffic being sparse, we flew up I-80, avoiding the Sacramento rush hour traffic, and blitzed our way through the Sierras (we'd make the Nevada state line by 9AM). In the foothill hamlet known as Colfax, we pulled over to Chevron to fill up on gas, and more importantly, a stop for human energy. And Starbucks, love em or hate em, usually does this just fine. Apparently this franchise gets its share of visitors (and being the last town of any note before Truckee, this isn't really that surprising), as evidenced by its rather large lobby (arguably the largest coffee shop I've ever seen). While the crew on hand wasn't the swiftest I've ever dealt with, they did just fine (and to be fair the joint wasn't that busy when we arrived), especially considering they also had to deal with a rather overbearing helicopter mom for whom they couldn't quite get the various requirements right. In the end, my white chocolate mocha got me through Elko, the wife's chai latte got her through Fernley, and we were able to do the rest of our 550 miles that day sans caffeinated incident. read more

It's where I need to go if I'm heading back up to Tahoe and I need that shot of caffeine and sugar to help power me up for that last leg. Sometimes you just really need a Starbucks and the easy access from 80 makes it quite accessible. I always walk in because I need to stretch my legs and use the loo. If placing a mobile order order min of 10 min out. Plan to wait. This is a very busy SB but that is no excuse for Poor customer service. I frequent this on the way up and down from Tahoe and they consistently never acknowledge you standing at bar. And there is always a wait even for mobile orders placed 8 min out. read more

How much do I love this Starbucks? Sooo much. The perfect stop leaving or arriving to Tahoe, this particular location gets my love for their consistency, cleanliness, friendliness, and generally excellency. They have some incredibly nice and competent baristas which make for a bright spot in your day. Today there were probably 100 people in the store when I was there, and everything was managed flawlessly by the team. Quite impressive. And I loved my brown rice/broccoli/kale bowl and banana bread which gave me succor to head back up the mountain. A must- stop off I-80. read more

Always have a great experience here but today the baristas went above and beyond to make my pumpkin cream cold brew one of a kind! When I asked the kind gentleman (sorry I can't remember his name) to sub SF Vanilla, he went one step further to ask Barista Sierra to make a small batch of cold foam with SF Vanilla instead of the regular prepped full sugar sweet cream. This is the worst Starbucks I've ever been to, mainly because of the customer service. Past 10 minutes of waiting for my drink and I see people who received their drinks already who had ordered after me, I asked to get a refund, the girl in the register said, "do you see the line?!" Absolutely worst service ever! We were here at 4:34 and ordered a grande iced white mocha like we usually do and it was the most milk tasting drink we have ever gotten. We had asked the barista to add another shot because it tasted unusually milky when normally it tasted fine. The barista not only chose to charge for that shot but showed attitude while saying so. It would have been fine but seeing them order their pizza and be fine between themselves was not okay. We always stop here on our way to and from Reno. We went today (2/14/15) around 5/6pm. The store was busy and dirty. The floors had spills of both drinks and food all over the place. There were no napkins or straws at the coffee fixing table. The bathrooms were dirty and out of toilet paper, paper towels, and seat covers (thank god I had tissues in my purse!). We informed the baristas and they didn't care. I get that you're busy, but your store is filthy! Drinks turned out though, so that's worth the one star. read more

I stop here every Saturday morning on my way to Reno and every Sunday morning on my way back, since August 2019. I ordered my usual Carmel machicote and a muffin. When I got to the window it was handed to me covered in Carmel, long drip runs from top to bottom and over the holder. I asked the person inside to wipe the sides so it wouldn't mess up my car and wow! A little attitude here. It was wiped alright, the Carmel was spread even more. I'm not a big spender there $16 - $20 each way. This is the second time they've done this to me. First if you don't know how to make the drink - don't. Second, if you are handing it out the window it has to be sticking to your hand also. Clean it up before you hand it out. I had to ask for napkins, again. I had to ask for a plug, again. The Saturday before, the top was loose. I will stop in Auburn from now on. read more

On a retreat from the world, this place was an oasis all its own. The only Starbucks for miles and miles, the whole world is in line and what with starbucks announcing it closing so many, I don't expect to see relief here soon which is needed. The drive through is always long and popular but you decide for it when you see the lot full and the in store line pilled up against the window. With the physical structure of the building being large you think its a good idea to sit in the car until you wait, wait, wait and then get the condensation covered cup and get it that all over you. read more

This is the slowest Starbucks I have ever been to. I'm amazed that this hasn't improved. My family and I used to enjoy stopping here on our way to Sacramento or San Francisco, but no matter the time of day the wait is far too long and the cars in the drive-thru are backed up to the street which makes parking difficult. Never thought I'd be reviewing a Starbucks! I usually eschew the Giant Green Logo in favor of local cafes, but my BF is unfortunately addicted to nonfat grande lattes and this is the first one to appear after descending the Sierras on I-80. Coffee snobbery aside, I have to sheepishly admit that I left my purse hanging on the bathroom hook on the way home from Tahoe one weekend. Said purse contained my entire life - including cell phone, wallet, apartment keys, car keys (we were driving a rental), etc etc etc. Of course I didn't realize this until we were already in SF. (insert expletive here)! Fortunately, the wonderful manager of this lone caffeine outpost in the Sierra foothills took it upon herself to send me my purse, intact, nothing missing, via UPS to my work. THANK YOU! Now that's service. Why not five stars? Well, the drip coffee still tastes like burnt charcoal and the lattes are coffee-scented milk. It's a Starbucks after all. read more

I get everyone has their bad days, but Tamara is the rudest person I think I have ever come across in the customer service world. All the other employees are terrific but she can definitely ruin your otherwise wonderful day in a second. No idea if there is a manager here, but this woman needs to be let go! She has yelled at almost every customer. She just berated a poor older gentleman who say waiting for over five minutes for his second drink to be done (they were ordered at the same time). She is a terrible human and I feel awful for anyone who has to deal with her! Definitely will not be coming back to this Starbucks and will absolutely be contacting corporate! That's when I realized I had forgotten my purse. Customer service in Colfax? Sure, just don't ask for "Peppermint" tea. Starbucks carries two types of mint tea, the closest one being the Mint Majesty tea. Most baristas will kindly mention that they don't technically carry peppermint and suggest one of the two mint teas, which is understandable since mint and peppermint syrup are quite different. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped to get a coffee, and I went to the restroom but before I got there a customer came out to warn me that it is disgusting in there and really needs cleaning up. I have to agree, there were paper towels all over the floor and the soap dispenser had been trashed and pieces of it we're on the ground in the bathroom. It is not up to Starbucks' reputation which is clean bathrooms for all of us who are patrons of Starbucks! I did talk to the supervisor and let her know and she said that she would take care of it. This is my go-to caffeine reload spot when coming back from Tahoe, as it is with everyone heading back to the Bay Area after a weekend in the mountains. Although they have dedicated drive-thru and regular staff, the volume of customers keeps the barista very busy, so drinks tend to come out a little slow. They have 2 gender-neutral bathrooms here, but they're usually always occupied with a wait. However, it's nice to be able to stop half-way home to get your caffeine fix. Just be sure to be patient with the drinks wait and the many cars in the parking lot. read more

Service was good but as I see in some of the other reviews... the bathrooms were a mess! No toilet paper,paper towels and toilet seat covers all over the floor and who knows what else. I know some people are disgusting and leave bathrooms like this but unfortunately it falls to staff to rectify it. This item needs some attention by management. This is not exactly about their location but about their service. First I tell their employee exactly and clear;y what I wanted to order, then she put the order in and told we to wait in the corner. After that I saw this very rude employee making my drink and said"I don't know what I'm doing" and made the wrong drink for me then just ran off I tried to tell the other employees but they just said that they can't do anything about it. I live in Reno and travel to Lincoln a couple times a month, this is where I usually stop. The past three times, I've been here it has been horrible. They take a long time, they are always out of items, and the staff act as if we are an inconvenience. Definitely not the traditional SB service. read more

Starbucks Colfax Ca Couple of weeks ago I lost my teeth on the way to Reno and was sure it was at this location. Arriving back at Starbucks from Reno. I went dumper driving for the Jack in the Box bag I threw the teeth in. While there the staff (swing shift 5/1) was very helpful offering gloves and something to drink and of course the sympathy I really needed at that time. With no luck a decided I wasn't going to fine them. While leaving I asked to keep an eye out just in case. While driving home on Friday I made a point to stop and check with them he it was found. Asked the first associate any luck she knew-nothing, "let me check with my manger" She was very aware of the teeth story. She took me how they went through the dumpster empting out every bag and sorting through everything she took her team if it is here we'll find it. I never asked for that kind of service and was surprised and touched. Teams from multiple shifts with kind heart caring about a customer and showing it the way they did is not something I will forget soon. Thank you all you all help read more
