ALWAYS MOBILE ORDER- DO NOT WAIT IN LINE!! It's unfortunate that the closest Starbucks to my college has such terrible customer service. The staff here has managed to be constantly in chaos mode while also being ridiculously slow every morning. I understand the chaos behind the coffee bar in the mornings but it always feels like there is at least one barista that is overly stressed and can't handle themselves, God forbid you ask them for an ice water. Last week I waited 20 minutes for an iced latte while mobile orders were coming up out the wazoo... Luckily I had run into a friend that morning so the wait didn't seem that long in the moment, but once I got to my car and realized what time it was I was shocked. My mobile orders however, always come out in what feels like seconds. Now if I go there and didn't have time/forgot to mobile order beforehand, I will place my mobile order while standing inside because that's still faster than me waiting in the line with 3 people in it. I think they just need to find a better balance between filling their mobile orders an in person orders. P.S. If you're not a morning person, don't get a job at Starbucks. read more

Coffee was undrinkable. I am a coffee lover - I like my coffee black. I got iced black coffee about 30 minutes ago from here. I always order iced black coffee from the metro starbucks and its done right. They really messed up this brew...it is bitter and acidic beyond belief. They probably used very fine grounds and must have over stuffed the machine....this is vomit inducing coffee. 1-star because a machine could have made me better coffee for 1/10th the price. AMBIANCE: I have studied at this Starbucks a few times, and it's alright for studying if you can find a table. It's pretty busy and usually filled with anteaters... DRINKS: My drinks always turn out like I order them here, and that's a good thing. :) SERVICE: I'm not sure how the turnover is for the staff at this location, but I've had some good interactions with some of the baristas. OVERALL: If you want your drink to turn out like you ordered it, go here--just don't count on necessarily finding a seat. read more

Opens real early which is a plus and setup is great for studying. It gets crowded, well because it's popular. Drinks are consistent. Lines can get long at times but most people just come and go. read more

The only reason this place loses my business is because they make me wait nearly 15 minutes for a drink at 5:30AM. Obviously if I'm there that early, I'm not there for leisure, I have somewhere to be like work. Instead I see only one Barista too busy taking orders and completing orders out of sequence. The place looks clean, although it was packed, things were in order and there weren't anything noticeable that could send people out the door. The cashier that made my order was very nice. She talked to her customers and each time she had a smile on her face. Even though there was a long line and she was the only person in the register, she still kept that smile and didn't show any sign of tiredness. The barista that made my drink was somewhat dull. He took his time and did not move quickly; it is as if there is not a big line of drinks that needs to be made. Comparing this starbucks to the other starbucks that i've been to, the staff in this one needs some pushing to get those drinks out faster and more efficient. Also, the way he added whip cream on my drink, it is as if he doesn't care. I watched him place a lot of cream right in the middle and used the lid to spread it around. In other starbucks, they actually take their time to go around the cup and swirl the whip cream. In addition, I love to order mocha frappuccino every time i go to starbucks, that being said, i know how it taste like. When the barista gave me my order and the first time i took a sip of my coffee, i knew that it was different. The taste of the drink they gave me was different and i could tell that it is not made correctly. I didn't want to make a comment because they had a long line and I didn't want those nice people to have to deal with a difficult customer. I just wished that the baristas would take more time to know the recipes so that the customer's drinks will not get messed up. Open Late, Near UCI, like in their backyard, always busy, but I can usually find at least a seat or two, either inside or outside, aftetall this is SoCal & it doesn't get that cold. This review is only regarding the customer service. I ordered the drink for someone else, so I didn't even taste it. Came here last Friday night just because I had to go to Chase bank right behind this place so it was a quick pit stop. There were a lot of people chatting and studying at the tables but the line wasn't very long at all. Maybe 2 people before me when I walked in. There were 2 people working and they seemed to be scrambling... The guy at the register was at the counter heating up some food item and asked what I wanted to order from the counter where the microwave was. So I told him I wanted a grande hazelnut macchiato. He responded with what I thought was, "huh?" so I repeated my order. He repeated what I thought was "huh?" but he was actually saying "HOT". So I said, "no, iced"... guy seemed kind of rude taking my order from the other counter in a sort of noisy environment. I also asked if I could have a cup of water, blah blah blah. Paid and waited for the drink. Usually the people at starbucks are super friendly, but I just moved to Irvine a few weeks ago, so I thought maybe the customer service wasn't so great out here. Who knows. The barista made the drink quickly and called my name. I waited a few seconds and asked if I could get a cup of water, I thought perhaps the cashier forgot to grab a cup for water. The barista grabs a plastic cup and sort of shows it to me, showing me that she is about to fill it with ice and water. RUDE! SORRY that I assumed he might have forgotten. But when I act politely to customer service workers, I expect the same treatment. Is that too much to ask for???? Jeeeeeez. read more

First and foremost, I am visiting the Irvine location from Sacramento, Ca. This is my first time visiting on my own. I have to say that this location has an employee with Magnificent customer service skills name George. This Man is very considerate, thoughtful, and go beyond his job requirements to make sure the customers are comfortable. I have never received such genuine kindness from any Starbucks employee like him. In any location. He gives samples out, even to people sitting outside, he lowers the blinds for you before you even notice the glare from the sunset, and he asks you before doing so. He gladly puts caramel in your drink, and chocolate syrup, even for a drink you did not buy yourself. He is extremely kind, and enthusiastic. It is way too easy to say fabulous things about this individual. On the other hand they have an employee named mark, who is a racist asshole !! He chases after me for putting half-milk in my water cup, he hides the condiments when he is on clock. He yells at me in public, and is super arrogant, and ignorant. mark is a lazy show off, who likes more to promote at work his BMW by wearing his bmw hat than even to wear his starbucks uniform. Many times I wanted to cuss him out, yet I was polite. He has a strange, and awkward demeanor making you feel very uncomfortable in the shop. Whenever mark is working, I do not even enter through the front door. I just go around the patio to avoid his menacing look. George on the other-hand should be promoted to Manager !! Even right at this moment he is working hard by bending his knees, straitening his back, and stocking food in the showcases!!! Thank you, Kevin, for using the Dairy container to mix my Green Tea Soy Frap. I can't say I'm 100% sure you didn't thoroughly wash the previously used dairy container, but you still used the Dairy container while there are Non-Dairy ones for a reason. Those are made specifically for Non-Dairy drinks, am I right? I am not a Starbucks diva, however I am severely allergic to milk. I did not say anything in person, and I immediately regretted it as soon as I left; so now I take to Yelp. To the management of this Starbucks and every joint that offers a dairy alternate, please ensure your employees are following procedures ESPECIALLY for health and safety concerns. read more

Friendly cashier/barista who educated us on the definition and composition of a latte :) Our drinks were made promptly, and we left satisfied. Convenient location right across campus, too! It wss around 6-7 when we came/left, so it wasn't crowded. The decor was nice and there were some students sitting at the various tables as well. Props to the interior designers! read more

As a college student, I'm not that fussy about my coffee drinks. As long as its the RIGHT drink. I just recently started going to this Starbucks because it was more convenient than the one closest to my house as it was close to UCI. I usually ask for a non fat salted caramel mocha with whip. First time I ask for it. The guy at the counter thinks i want a caramel mocha and charges me extra for the caramel syrup. He also asks me whether I want whipped cream to which I reply yes. The guy making my drink also asks me if I want whip to which I reply YES. Guess what? No whip. And no salted caramel mocha. I let it go, because mistakes happen. This morning however I stop in to get my usual drink. The lady asks me if I want whip. I reply yes. Fast forward to when I actually taste my drink and find out that instead of a salted caramel mocha with whip. I get a caramel macchiato with no whip. Seriously? It would have been fine if they had atleast made the right DRINK and disregarded everything else, but to continually make the wrong drink? That's just ridicuous. I dont spend $4 just to get a random drink. Never going back. read more

This would be a great place to study if the bathroom wasn't so disgusting! There's one toilet for the whole place, which is not that big of an issue. The issue is you can tell that they don't clean it. In addition to the urine and stains of who-knows-what, there is dust and hair that you can see when the toilet seat is lifted up. It's not a thin layer of dust, it's dust that indicates this toilet hasn't been wiped in forever. Today there are no toilet seat covers, there are napkins instead of paper towels in the paper towel holder, and the trash is overflowing. read more

On thanksgiving morning, I woke up at 4 AM to go to my local Starbucks to line up for the Verismo machine that was selling for 59$. But when I got there, the machine was (gone?) and a sticky note taped on the machine stand saying "SOLD OUT" and underlined was there instead. I believe that there was a employee fault in this situation, and an unknown employee stayed overnight and bought it. We were planning on doing this, but we talked to an employee in the store the night before, and told us the sale officially begins at 5:30 AM on thanksgiving. I feel cheated and need a clearer explanation on what happened, and if possible, compensation for our troubles. read more

Came here for the first time a week ago to get some quick Starbucks before I start doing errands. I was surprise that I came here for the first time because I walk I live three minutes away walking distance. Anyway I really like the set up of the Starbucks because it's pretty big which helps because the line is really long (both times I came in). However even though they do have a lot of people that were ordering the service was very fast and efficient. In addition the baristas were super friendly and even apologize for the way which I think was pretty cool. This Starbucks is perfect for studying. it's right across from UCI so it has the most study space... There's plenty of outlets though and outdoor seating. free wifi! bring a jacket though it tends to get cold inside, even without sipping on a cold drink! read more

I've had one of the most pleasant experiences this morning. Complicated/complex is how I like my espresso beverages, and understandably - would be annoying to write & make. This location is really intended for college kids from UCI and since I'm not one it's not ideal. Every seat is normally occupied by some kid on a laptop. Free wifi I guess is another draw. It can get really crowded but that's not unique to this location. The parking is quirky - weird access to the front door and it seems like there should be a drive thru but that just leads to the bank. The staff is friendly enough. read more

Very disappointing Frap. While they were quick in getting it out(because no one else was waiting), my Frap was about 90% ice. No bueno!

They are not controlling the room temperature. Always here is too cold. People freezing in this location unless if they had a jacket.beside the room temperature,sometimes it's really hard to find a vacant seat. Honestly I came here about twice or three times and for every single time i showed up to this starbucks, my drink never tasted as good as any other Starbucks. During the holidays, my favorite drink to order is the eggnog latte and it's bomb!!! But at this starbucks, it just did not taste the same!!!
