Service: 4.5 stars Coffee: 4 stars Peet's! interestingly enough, I was not a huge Peet's fan when I was at UCI for undergrad. Starbucks was my go-to, along with Diedrich's. Over the last decade or so, Major Dickason coffee beans have been my go-to at home for pour over, adding a splash of half & half. We were at UCI for a few things and it worked out perfectly since I had an offer in the app. It was easy peasy to redeem my offer and also use our personal cups (also saving $0.25 per, which is still a great discount than another brand). I decided to try the Havana Cappuccino again, with my first time being at the end of May 2025 at the Barranca location. The flavors were on point and love the cinnamon kick. Havana Cappuccino Bold espresso swirled with sweetened condensed milk, topped with creamy steamed milk, and finished with a warm cinnamon kick. There are a few tables on the inside, and also a few outside. Parking in the UTC is still quite tricky, but luckily we were able to find a parking spot nearby as we were also stopping by Trader Joe's to restock some household items. The barista who took my order was very friendly and provided great customer service. He treated everyone with respect and time. When I was initially ordering, there was no one in line after me, but as I was waiting for our drinks, the line was almost to the door. There are no public restrooms, so one would need to use the one at Trader Joe's, or the public restrooms (in the hallway) near Le Dip. read more

Parking can get crazy here during rush hours like noon, and then again around 6 so be ready as this center does get crazy at those times. It's a nice location, with nice cool inside seating area and outside seating as well. Got to try the Peach Green Tea and Their Cold Brew. The Peach Green tea was nice and refreshing with good after taste but the Cole Brew was just alright. Lacked the flavor of coffee so I requested cream hoping it would taste a little better than stale water but the cream made it taste just like watered down milk. Really enjoyed my little afternoon treat at Peet's today! The iced latte was delicious, and the barista-in-training did a really great job and making that customer connection. A lot quieter and calmer than my experience at other coffee chains. Ample seating and charging, and I was able to move the shades when it got a little bright inside with no issue. One reservation about making this my regular spot though is the UTC parking gestapo. If I'm a paying customer and not a student simply parking and walking across the bridge, I shouldn't feel stressed and rushed to leave before I get towed. UTC was my hangout spot growing up, and it's a shame to see how neurotic and unpleasant simply existing as a community member has become. We used to come here after school dances and hang out at Yogurtland, or go on mother-daughter dates to this same Peet's to chat for a few hours. Don't love feeling rushed...there's got to be a better way of policing parking issues than creating a hostile environment. Of course, Peet's itself is no issue. Wow, this place has gone downhill. Went here for a birthday coffee for my husband this morning since Peet's is *usually* the best. We frequent this location but today it was just the worst experience. First off, the woman taking the order was inept and couldn't understand what it meant to add an extra shot of decaf. She looks confused as we told her that we each wanted an extra decaf shot in our iced oatmilk latte's. Five minutes later out comes a hot latte, so we tell her it's wrong. Then she brings out a decaf latte (iced this time)- without an extra shot. No apology or anything. (My husband is wearing a literal BIRTHDAY HAT and still, not one of the employee's says happy birthday to him). At this point my husband is fed up and we just walked out. Meanwhile, the looks on these people's faces is as if they're half dead. I get it, you hate your job- but at least have an espresso and pretend you care. My husband is very specific about having only decaf since he's sensitive to caffeine, so that's why we left. If they couldn't get it right the first two times, how can we trust it's only decaf? At this point we just left and didn't take any of the $13.30 coffee's we paid for on my husband's birthday. We get home and I call the location to ask for a refund to my card, and the barista who made the drinks insists she made them correctly and isn't apologetic in the slightest!! So RUDE. She tells me I have to come in the store to refund my card? No way am I going back there, and i'm contesting the chard on my CC the moment it comes in. Again, not one apology and she insists she did everything right. I'm in shock, Peet's standards have fallen drastically. Clearly they don't care in the slightest about their customers at this location. Horrible way to start my Husbands Birthday and this put him in a terrible mood. Thanks a lot Peet's employees. Buying $6 coffee's at a coffee shop is about the EXPERIENCE, not just the coffee itself. If i wanted that I would have made my own at home. Customer service has gone to c r a p. Micro aggressions I ordered coffee my name an authentic Mexican name. When they called out my name for the order once it was ready they called out the name Madison. I was confused because what was ready were 2 vanilla ice lattes which was what I ordered. I went to check the drinks and the name and was then yelled at by the barista that the drinks were "Not for me." For 15 minutes I waited for my 'real' drink. Finally, my friend went up to ask the barista who took my order and turns out the drinks for Madison were for me. The barista then tried to defend herself saying that 'she was talking about the food', as if I was going to steal another customer's food. I guess Peet is racist if he lets his baristas work if they barely know how to read or interact with people who aren't white in an area populated with plenty of Asian and Latino people. Madison and my name don't even have the first same 3 letters. I truly wonder if the barista has graduated high school or if her racism has also just made her dumb as rocks. This is a very nice Peet's, located in University Center across from UCI. Maybe I never come here when it's busy, but there's never a big crowd, so there's always seating both indoors and outdoors. The drinks are made well up to Peet's usual quality and there's always the excellent friendly and helpful service from the staff here. I especially like the Iced Cold Brew Oat Latte, which is has a very mild flavor, that's not overly sweet, and still has a smooth coffee flavor. read more

Taste like they took their regular hot house coffee and poured it over a large cup of ice. Should have tasted it while there as I questioned why black coffee looked a caramel color. My BF got the Havana Cappucino ($4.45 small) and I got the Dark Roast Drip Coffee ($3.05 Medium). My coffee was warm, but a little on the watery side, but it was smooth and easy to drink. Tried a bit of my BF's Cappucino and it was creamy and not too sweet, wish it had a little more cinnamon flavor since I love strong cinnamon flavor. Update (since my review two weeks ago): Came in here to take advantage of a free welcome beverage I was offered as part of the Peet's Rewards app promotion. Restroom situation still sucks - but at this point, there's not much the business can do about it, since it appears to be the way the shopping center was planned. Internet is still spotty, but connection to the Retail Center's network is strong, just not sure why the coffeehouse can't provide stable service for their patrons. So what caused the change from one star to three stars? The baristas here. It was my second visit here, and first time dealing with Daisy. Not only was she patient and friendly (I was being indecisive regarding which drink to use my welcome reward on, as well as whether or not to warm up my pumpkin chocolate bread), but she also patiently waited for me to reload my app in order to "check in" for the Peet's Rewards program. In addition, during my stay, I overheard her asking each of the other customers whether they had the Rewards app or not - which only serves to reward repeat patrons, and by taking the time to ask each customer, it helps show her interest in seeing them return. Things are looking up, and while this may not be the best place to study (due to their lack of restrooms/crappy wifi), I could see it being a great place to grab a drink, meet up with some friends and catch up. read more

The lady then proceeded with a dirty look and dumped it out. I am standing by the counter handout and she called something out but could not hear and placed a medium iced matcha latte. We were in town visiting old friends, so we came here to chat over coffee. I suggested Peet's, and fortunately there was one in the University Center. This location is right by the parking lot of this plaza, with plenty of spots to choose from. The coffee shop, much like the surrounding environment, is clean and safe. The staff here is pretty nice. They made our drinks well. This locations does not have a restroom inside, which is ok because there are plenty throughout the plaza. LOVE this location which is opened late! Lots of FREE parking and they have the coconut whipped cream which is so decadent. Our go to drinks these days are the almond milk hot chocolate with coconut whip and the almond milk matcha latte with light coconut whip...this is like dessert for us...yum!!! We purchased some $$$ pricey Mighty Leaf matcha powder $24.95 to make our own lattes and smoothies at home as well. The staff here was extremely pleasant on our late night visit. If in So Cal, sign up for their rewards program through i phone app or internet account. For every 15 purchases you get a free drink! Aside from the rewards program, Peet's always gives a free drink credit for a small drip coffee or tea with the purchase of coffee beans. If you are not in the mood for a drip coffee or tea, the drink credit may also be used towards a purchase of any drink on their menu. I have been a visitor of this location since 2014. Recently I have become a "Sunday regular" and come in to get some work done. I am always impressed with the friendliness and courtesy of the employees here. Seating can get pretty packed, but if you don't mind waiting a few minutes, seating for casual conversations or to work for a few hours usually pops up. I definitely recommend the seasonal drinks that are still available this Winter, including the dark chocolate orange mocha and the peppermint mocha. The chocolate mocha is the perfect combination of coffee fragrance and rich chocolate flavor. The peppermint mocha gives you the boost you need with a bit of a peppermint punch. If you really need a pick-me-up, the espresso items are excellent. My personal favoriate is the Americano, which is perfect for these cold winter days. Such a nice contrast from the local Starbucks. I always favor Peets because you can taste the roast better and their coffees seem stronger, as opposed to Starbucks' watered-down sugary drinks. I most especially love Peets' Cappuccinos on especially colder days, as it hits the spot and delivers the right amount of warmth and perk. The froth of the steamed milk is felt. My go-to's are usually an Iced Caramel Macchiato (if my sweet tooth permits) or the classic Iced Latte Macchiato for a stronger and less-sweet roast. I love how you can almost taste the espresso bean in their espresso. Their coffees are blended well and the staff is always so friendly and welcoming. What can I say, I absolutely love Peet's Coffee! I always wanted to check this place out, and I finally got the chance! It's amazing! In my opinion, it's better, cheaper, and takes less time to wait than Starbucks. Peet's does have a small selection for coffee, but as long as they have their basics, it shouldn't matter right? I find Peet's relatively inexpensive for what I'm going to be drinking, and the taste is just right. I find it that sometimes Starbucks coffee is sometimes a little off? But Peet's is consistent and on point, all the time. It tastes very good and I haven't gotten that after-coffee breath yet. I recommend their hot coffees, iced coffees, and blended drinks. And the best part is that their drinks come out so fast, probably like 2-3 minutes is what you'll be waiting for at the most. Their coffee is strong and can keep you up. First time visit to THIS location (across from UCIrine on Campus next to Trader Joe's.) My friend is Peetnik (hehe), so he bought me a coffee selection. I chose the Coconut Black Tie (M is $4.60) which is iced/cold. I don't usually like coconut, but the blend of the syrup did not overpower in taste. Easily made (I saw the barista making it) with coconut syrup, milk, and their house coffee over ice. I actually enjoyed this coffee variation while stirring, and stirring, & stirring, n stirring the syrup and milk (I felt like a blender/mixer by the end). I like Peet's Coffee. Would I give up Starbucks? No. Why? Because all the coffee houses are like ramen restaurants, they all have their blend, their mix, their flavor(ing), their specials.
