In all fairness, I am not a Starbucks fan. Their coffee just doesn't do it for me. However, in the past year, I did discover that they have a cold brew with a cold foam that I actually somewhat enjoy. Occasionally, my man and I will walk down to the Starbucks because it's pretty close to where we live. Before this visit I would've given it three stars. But I'm increasing my stars to four now because they have finally brought the furniture back inside. They haven't had furniture there for the past few years because they've been trying to address vagrants loitering. The people at the counter on this visit were very nice and they made our drinks quickly! The lady who rung us up was pretty mean. We ordered a strawberry and cream frap and she rang us up for a strawberry açaí lemonade. We requested 1 pump of raspberry and 2 mango, she put 1 raspberry and 1 vanilla?? I wouldn't have cared much about that but when we asked for the correct drink she rolled her eyes and scoffed at us. She didn't even tell the barista on bar 1 the situation, she just left the sticker on top of the bar. I think all the customers were afraid of her, honestly. read more

They were so nice. They didn't complain like... A couple of other Starbucks that I've already complained about where they do nothing though Starbucks doesn't care it seems so these employees here made by drink didn't complain that they had to put less ice than I wanted. I've had the one over Off Hazard Center, Road complain to me and say I should just order another drink just because I wanted less ice. And then I've had the one over at university Heights on University Avenue or El Cajon Blvd. I should say Susan the little supervisor, not only be rude, but yell at me as well all because they didn't wanna give me an extra shot that I paid for aside from my drink, they didn't wanna just hand it to me. They dumped it in my drink. They made a mistake . The urbane cafe right next door's bathroom was out of order. I entered the Starbucks and asked to use the restroom, Sheila responds by asking me to be a purchasing customer. Essentially wanting me to pay minimum $5 to use the restroom. Understandable that it is store policy, but that's pretty freaking ridiculous considering that I've spent hundreds of dollars at Starbucks throughout my life. Just disappointed. read more

This location is just ok. The people are friendly and the service is quick but the drinks are usually inconsistent. Hate to be honest but I've been coming here for years and lately it's a hit or miss. Hopefully they do some better training and don't mistake drinks based on people they might not like because that's what it feels like. If you ask them to remake it, you're marked for life. read more

I go to this Starbucks pretty often, the service has been great but recently the service has been horrible I usually do pick up and the workers have been really rude, I asked for a cup of water and the worker was slamming things and being super rude about it. I'm from Atlanta and I obviously can't speak for all Starbucks, but this might be the best Starbucks I've ever visited. The staff were all incredibly kind and helpful. I had a fairly large order and they got everything to me very quickly and correctly. When each piece of my order was ready, the staff member was so attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. You could tell that this is a Starbucks where majority of the customers are on their way to work, but the staff made sure to make everyone feel special no matter how quickly they were passing through. This Starbucks looks like the waiting area of a place where you don't want to go in the first place. No chairs/table inside OR outside, you get your whatever and just stand, staring at the walls, or floor. If you want sugar you have to ask for it, and specify how many packets you would like ("can I pretty please have two? I promise I'll be good"). I do hope they make this place more inviting, but I am not sure I will go back. read more

Dylan the manager is the reason I will never go to this location again. Completely ruined my Starbucks experience. Not only did they mess up my drink but they would not remake it. I'm am type one diabetic and can not have sugar. I told him they gave me either the wrong drink or they messed up my drink. He refused to remake my drink. I ordered a flat white with soy in La Mesa, and didn't realize it was made with whole milk until I was 10 miles away near the location on Napa Street. Obviously, it is annoying and not ideal to have to go to another location and get the correct drink so that you can enjoy the beverage that cost five bucks, but I did. Parked in the crowded, tight parking lot, walked by a homeless encampment in front of the retail space, and went into the store (they do not have a drive-thru like the one in La Mesa). The "partner" that helped me at the register was very kind and offered to remake the drink correctly. She even asked the baristas to put mine in a rush, recognizing the inconvenience of the situation. I patiently waited for my name to be called, and, finally heard them say. "Natalie." When I walked up to get my drink, Danny/Dani(?) told me that I should note that, although they remade the drink for me this time, it is not their policy to do it ever again. Then, she walked away and went off her shift. The nice lady who originally helped me at the register was now the barista. As I waited for my drink, I asked who the manager of the store was. Since Heather was not on site, I asked who the supervisor on duty was and they told me it was Kayla/Kayleigh(?). As she was coming out, one of the baristas who had heard all of my communication rushed to intercept her, and they both walked into the back and began talking. I asked to clarify who the supervisor was, and a partner said she was. About this time, the lady who took my order realized that Danny had finished making my drink but was too busy putting me in my place about their policies, to let me know my drink was ready and let me be on my way. I'm still not sure why Danny needed to communicate that to me right then and there other than to be combative and rude. I left that location feeling very angry and will never return...all thanks to Danny/Dani the people pleaser.....the partner who brings "warmth", the one who values customers and connection. I typically don't do reviews for starbucks because I never really thought of it but WOW this location was really amazing! From not being from here, this was quite an experience. I wish I could give 6 stars! Right when we walked in, we were greeted by multiple workers with smiles and positive energy! Once we ordered, the cashier double checked our order and let us know we'd get our order shortly. Everything in the store was super clean and very organized which is rare inside a Starbucks! One of the best parts was a worker named Lauren! She was KILLIN' IT! I didn't interact with her personally but while sitting and drinking my coffee, she greeted everyone walking in and out of the door, was tending to trash anywhere around the store and was delivering drinks to those she remembered! I literally think this is the Disneyland of Starbucks. The teamwork and work ethics here are amazing! I enjoyed my short visit to this Starbucks but wow it was enough to right a view! read more

This location is close to the trolley and shares a parking lot with other neighbors. There's a few outdoor tables and chairs. The interior is a nice size with communal seating as well as separate tables. There are also two restrooms here which is great. Ordering was easy as there wasn't a line. We ordered an venti iced coffee and a tall drip coffee. The barista taking the order was a bit slow or hard of hearing (or maybe it was just loud?). He poured the tall coffee and my venti iced coffee was ready by the time he handed me the tall drip and I paid. My iced coffee tasted strong and bitter (not in a good way). The table we sat at had no power outlet nearby. Bummer. We liked the cold a/c that was on as it was getting warm. I thought overall the location was clean but there was a bit of unpleasant smell outside. I got a refill on the way out (with rewards card). Last time I was here before today's visit was probably two years ago. Back then it was a great place to hang out, read, have a meal. etc. Unfortunately to my surprise that ambience is no longer there. All the tables and chairs have been removed; and they no longer provide a public restroom. It's surprising but not surprising at the same time because there are now quite a few homeless people hanging out around the outside of their public doors. Had I known it would be like this, I would not have bypassed all the other Starbucks I drove past (came from Seaworld in San Diego). I did not order here, it wasn't busy, and the employees at least appeared professional and the lady employee who informed me of no public restrooms and no dining in was nice and professional in her response. If you decide to order here, make sure you're doing it for pickup and not dining in and remember no more public restrooms to use. Okay so let's start off with knowing thyself is a strong attribute...I am not a machine that wakes up rolling at 100mph. So.... I stumbled into Starbucks early one weekend with morning from a lack of my routine tasty morning beverage. My favorite roaster around the corner didn't open for another 2 hours, and even tho I love them...the NEED for my tasty morning coffee WOULDN'T wait. I was thinking maybe I'd grab a cup of coffee, but my lack of wanting to leave the house again for a bag of coffee kicked in HARD. I spent prob 10 minutes in the back of the store browing the online tasting notes for all the different coffees I could throw into my espresso machine. Let's just say I was a bit overwhelmed by all the different coffees, tasting notes etc. Defeatedly, I shuffled over to the cashier for one last attempt at help to save me from a non-coffee drinking situation. Queue in, Leo. The Barista we all needed but didn't know we had. I filled him in on my 0 coffees dilemma, told him what I liked and what I wanted in my morning cup of salvation. He looks at me with a confident smile and says, you should try the blonde roast. I almost left IMMEDIATELY. In my head im like, "who is this guy offering me a blonde roast. Dude, I told you what I like and this is what you give me", but it all came out as an unawakened "uhhhhhhhh...". Obviously, Leo speaks the language of the morning people and responded with a ,"trust me, have a sample". Begrudgingly, I wasn't going to decline this insult of a recommendation...blonde roast...this guy... WELL, as this coffee hit my lips and tastebuds it was like finding a new best friend. Remember the movie Step-Brothers? Well that coffee and I just became best friends and were doing karate in the garage. Shoutout to Leo for putting me on to a new coffee that I've been avoiding because or the name scheme (judge me I don't care). I've gone back and bought 3 more bags since my first. Came in yesterday to buy 2 more and without fail our hero barista was there and recognized me and said hello. Perhaps one of the busiest Starbucks' locations I've ever seen. Catering to nearby USD, dorms and other passerby clients, this Starbucks runs relentlessly from dawn till late night hours. Not sure how the staff maintains the constant flow of walk-ins and mobile orders. Always with a smile, the cashier greeted me and asked "what perfect drink could I offer you today?". What more do you need to start a day on the right foot.....food..... It's a busy morning for me, but leaving here without rating these guys, would simply be u n f a i r.
