Compared to most Starbucks in the North County area all the way from Oceanside to even the cute little San Elijo Starbucks, this location is on top of it because OF THEIR STAFF. If you watch an observe while you wait, it is not utter chaos or teens laughing amongst themselves. Has anyone ever realized that yes maybe it's a great job for teens but that it's adults who are working and being parents that go to get their coffee and when it's ordered 20 minutes prior and you go in (Encinitas location by Chic fil A) nd you have to watch another 20 minutes go by in store as drive thru customers get priority and my time to work gets closer and closer. I've never had these issues here. Ever. But I have always come on Sunday or Saturday mornings. That being said this is a great weekend Starbucks. read more

Great location near my Hotel and near other food places. Typical Starbucks of course inside and out. All your normal drink options. It is clean inside and everyone was very friendly. Convenient to get to, right off the freeway and the Main Street. They have a large parking lot with a ton of parking and there are 20 minute spots right in front of Starbucks that I parked in and grabbed my drink, easy in and out. They have indoor and outdoor seating and there is a nice pergola you can also sit under (not part of Starbucks). Used the app of course to order ahead so it is ready when I got there. Also, you can earn free drinks, etc. when using the app, load cards and gift cards to it as well. Highly recommended you download and use the app. Enjoy! read more

But the coffee is decent and quick and usually there's a Starbucks located on every corner in San Marcos. However, today's experience lacked "good" customer service. And the guy who took my order kept coughing. I almost walked away and went to the other Starbucks that's on the other side of the parking lot but due to time (on my lunch break) I stayed. This is a pretty nice Starbucks. It's not the largest but it makes due with good customer service and product. I had a sprouted bagel, toasted with cream cheese, and a caffe misto. The young lady who made the misto did a terrific job on it. It was very smooth and rich. It was quite enjoyable to drink with the toasted bagel I ordered. There was this worker there, I didn't catch her name but she had blonde hair in a ponytail and had tattoos on her arms. She was the kindest employee ever and made my day better just by being caring. You are probably reading this saying, "Yawn," but, no really. Yeah, their plain coffee is not great but if you have to disguise the flavor of their beans, this is the way to go. Located across the street from CSUSM, I can only assume that majority of the workers are undergraduate students. I was so busy running around for work and errands that I forgot to pack a lunch for myself. Luckily, I accumulated Starbucks' gift cards from holiday season, which turned out to be a lifesaver for my hunger situation. I usually like to get the protein--packed sous vide egg bites, but unfortunately, this location was out of stock. Therefore, I opted for the protein pack which came with a half cup of smashed guacamole, mixed nuts, snap peas, baby carrots, and a several bite sized falafel balls. The guacamole was surprisingly good. I thought it would be bland. I wish there was an option to warm the falafel balls, but the whole "box" is in a plastic container, so I was unable to have them warmed up to my liking. For my drink, I ordered the vegan chocolate milk iced caramel latte. I think the almond milk they use tastes strange, despite it being chocolate. I mean, one can usually do no wrong when it comes to chocolate. Maybe it was the caramel syrup they use? I asked for half the amount in order to the make the drink less sweet. Starbucks is notorious for making their drinks overly sweet. Overall, the drink was okay. It was a refreshing pick-me-up on a warm and long day. There are several tables outside this Starbuck's that has a view of busy Twin Oaks Road and empty CSU San Marcos. Plenty of space to physically distance. Service was the good standard of friendliness that I encounter in almost every Starbucks in the world. read more

Starbucks is OVERRATED, OVERPRICED, and UNDERWHELMING. This is low quality coffee and any real coffee lover knows this coffee is trash, artificial, and disingenuous. I would go to 5-10 places before I would go to Starbucks. This location has been historically bad, we have ordered ahead here for convenience, expecting a decent coffee, not great. Instead, we get this watered-down monstrosity that is not even drinkable and a waste of time and money, to the point we went somewhere else for coffee! They claimed they were out of Sriracha packets due to a "shortage" when another Starbucks I went to just the other day had a million of them and asked how many I wanted. How is there a shortage if a consumer can buy it at a grocery store? I guarantee it's in stock. Just say you are out at this point. For some reason a grilled cheese here costs more than the impossible breakfast sandwich? It's literally 2 ingredients and is over $6. They were unable to do a short Americano iced, because of the size which makes no sense. If I give a negative review is not solely to one person in doing so it means I spent too much energy on that one person. This is always been my favorite Starbucks because the employees there are just exceptional! When we could still sit inside I used to drive out of my way to come to this one because they make your drink right every time, even when you have a bunch of crazy preferences. I feel like at the other Starbucks they just make it how they want and give it to you anyway hoping you won't notice. I do notice, but usually don't say anything. Another amazing thing they do here is if you order an iced tea with honey they don't just put the honey in, they melt the honey in hot water and then put it in so that it actually dissolves into your drink. All Starbucks employees should be trained to do this! Then today I walked in and looked at the counter of mobile orders and realized I had placed my order at my usual Starbucks instead of here. I hate it when I do this. I sighed and exclaimed out loud oh no I placed it at the other Starbucks then turned to walk out. To which an employee quickly jumped in and said let me make it for you here. I was already having kind of a rough day so placing my order at the wrong Starbucks was just another thing I'd done wrong that morning but her cheerful and quick delivery of my drink really turned my day around. F*ck this location. I figured I'd treat myself to an eggnog latte before work so I made a pit stop. This location is run by college students. Instead of attending to customers, they're too busy socializing and flirting with each other. An employee who works there ordered before me and proceeded to go behind the counter to do whatever in her regular clothes, uhhh. Where is your manager? Shows how professionally run this place is... not I ordered an ICED eggnog latte from Zach mainly cause it's hot as shit outside. 30 minutes later, a HOT eggnog latte comes out. WTF. I know I was insanely clear about it being iced. I told the barista Sarah and instead of apologizing, she insists on mad dogging me. She made 4 other drinks before attending to mine. She made it seem as if I inconvenienced her. The drink she made tasted like shit too. All in all, it took FORTY FIVE minutes for one f*cking drink. Shame on you. If I didn't need to be at work, I would have asked for a refund or to talk to a manager. If you need to go to Starbucks in this area, go to the location INSIDE the grocery store in the same lot. First time visiting this starbucks location and I was quite surprised by the lack of wait considering it's across the street from CSUSM and I stopped by around 9:30am. There were plenty of people sitting around chatting or on their computers taking advantage of the free wifi, yet there were still a few tables open and plenty of free seating outdoors. The young guy who took my order was very cheerful, but not that annoying cheerful that is just too much to deal with in the morning. All the other workers were very friendly, quick with my toasted bagel, and polite with their "goodbye", "have a great day" and "thank you" acknowledgements.
