Stopped at Starvin Marvin's on the way back to the hotel, simply because of the name (Southpark fans). We have Louisiana roots so we have fairly high expectations of seafood & spice. Buffet food was decent, some even good. However, i would suggest DO NOT EAT THE BOILED CRAWFISH if you have any taste for crawfish. My daughter tried them because she loves crawfish, even though we warned her. She spit it out. We had fried fish, shrimp and plenty of the sides, with a little tasting other things. My husband was in love with the creamed corn. Overall, it was a win, nothing fabulous, no true WOW moments... it's a buffet. About $100 for our family of four for dinner buffet with cokes. They call it Starvin' Marvin's because you leave the same way you came in...starving! We had to reorder multiple times because the kitchen kept running out of food. We were made to feel guilty because we didn't order the buffet which we saw multiple people unhygenicaly serving themselves. Once we finally received our food, it was absolutely atrocious! Our waitress went from being super sweet to all of a sudden being inconvenienced by our simple requests like requesting ketchup. Went to Starvin Marvins based on reviews and was very disappointed in our experience. The shrimp dinner was brought to the table cold and the mashed potatoes that was ordered with crab legs was also cold. This was brought to the waitresses attention and she took the plate back to the kitchen. When the plate was returned, the others were finished with the meal. The shrimp was hot but the sides were now cold, as they were on the original plate. I mentioned this at the register and the older gentleman just repeated back what I said. That's pretty cheap for the amount of food and variety that we ate and it included two kinds of cobbler and ice cream. Best fried catfish I've ever had from a restaurant! Had the buffet and the cooks constantly had fresh hot food on the table for everyone. Ending it with blackberry cobbler and ice cream, delicious. We all ordered food, with an appetizer and 1 pound of crab legs. Waitress did not bring plates. We had to get them from the buffet. The orka was cold and tough. The bread was old and stale. The fish was terrible. Cold fish is never good.. The only good thing about this dinner was the Margarita. It was very tasty. Our waitress was wonderful, she was pleasant and attentive. She let us know before we ordered the price of the buffet, $20, that was high, but we were already at our table and the boys were ready to eat. I had looked on the website and couldn't find the price. I wish I had called and asked, because $136 is really too much to spend on a small buffet. The only negative on the food was I felt the chicken tenders were very dry. I noticed my boys didn't eat many of them either. One of us ordered a chicken sandwich, and when it made it to the table it was a chicken fried chicken sandwich (which is also on the menu, but was not what was ordered). Two people ordered the country dinners of country fried steak. It was okay in taste, but the food was cold and they also didn't receive their bread. Lastly, one of us ordered the Alfredo with snow crab. The noodles and sauce were good but the crab was still in strips and hadn't had the cartilage/tendon pulled from it. The whole in-shell pieces did not come with a tool to pull the crab from them. While these are all minor things, it all has a domino effect to the experience. This place is definitely worth checking out! There are lots of options to choose from off the buffet and they offer fresh crab legs brought straight to your table. If the buffet isn't your thing they have a full menu of items to choose from. I love their crawfish and our waitress was nice enough to bring us buckets full of them. They could season their seafood a little better however. Other than that this place was great and if I'm ever in Branson again I'll be back! Would highly recommend to a seafood lover especially someone who likes crawfish as most seafood buffets and restaurants do not have boiled crawfish, only fried. read more

From the very start our server was very nice but quite pushy on the buffet. All I kept hearing was, "the little guy will eat free if you get the buffet". Well that's great BUT wound up being the worst idea. After browsing the menu and choosing something he'd like off it, and the choosing frog legs for me and a simple country fried steak for my friend. When we began placing our order, again she selves into the buffet for me and little guy. "Do you know there are frog legs up there?" "The little guy eats free" omg fine. So I just went with the buffet. Huge mistake. Nothing was fresh and everything was chewy and/or cold. The potatoes were an offish color but tasted ok. There was little for my grandson to eat on the bar. It was either too spicy or too hard. No wonder he ate free. He barely ate a thing. The frog legs were terrible as you can expect fried frog legs to be after sitting on a buffet for however long. Overall the experience was a huge disappointment and while we visit Branson often we will not be frequenting this establishment again. Oh and the country fried steak came out hot, yet felt like it had been heated up after hitting room temperature. You know what I mean, tough and chewy.
