Very small place. Food made to order. Even if it's not on the menu there's a sign that says they will try to make it for you anyway. The potatoes were fresh made. Normal sized portions. Eggs were cooked exactly as I asked for them. I would have rather had a real plate instead of paper if I am being picky. The lady behind the counter was very personable and considerate. read more

State street kitchen was definitely a diamond in the rough. I would have never thought to come here nor would I have seen it driving down the street but glad Yelp exists. Walking in, it's not very big, maybe about 8-10 tables (small). Looking at the menu was tough because I wanted so many things. I chose a chicken sandwich with mozzarella and balsamic but asked for breaded chicken. My wife got the BiBimBop which was so flavorful and spicy. Sandwich was GREAT. It was so freaking fresh! The owner came over to check on us meanwhile she runs the place, runs the register and takes orders. She mentioned no ones asked for breaded chicken for that sandwich and may have to add it to menu! I hope she does because it was fantastic. The rest of the joint is filled with goodies, whether it be prepackaged items or homemade food, from soups, to sauces etc. I just enjoyed the entire feel of the establishment and there's no mistake that this is such a top rated place. read more

Went in ordered. When they called Our food out, we got 1 napkin the table had sticky syrup all over it, I Couldn't get the attention of anyone to help me clean it off or give me more napkins. I also only got a fork for a hoagie. Just very disappointed. My chicken parm was horrible, the chicken had to be quite old, the fries tasted like they were in the same Oil as something sweet. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I read yelp reviews and went for late breakfast on weekday. There was no line or waiting. The place is small but atmosphere is absolutely lovely. There were 2 things that were unique about this place. 1) There were no servers so we sat ourselves, picked up menu from counter and ordered at the cashier. 2) everything was pretty much self-service including pouring your coffee from coffee station (free refills). We ordered omelette and BLT sandwich. They were okay. The owner came brought us food and came back to check on us to make sure everything was okay. She was so approachable and lovely. We've been coming here for years. My kids love the pancakes, my wife goes for the authentic Korean fare and I am nuts for the oatmeal. Everything is made to order, so you will have to be patient while the artists work the grill. Misha the owner and her son Ryan are there almost everyday, making sure everything is perfect. Our first time here. Just ok. The owner was the highlight, such a positive personality and put a smile on your face. I felt like the roll for my Sunday breakfast sandwich was Saturday's delivery. I love when cheese is all melted and warm. The bacon tasted a little over crisp. Not as satisfying as I hoped after a Friday night celebration in NY. My husband's spinach omelette had cold spinach in the middle. The fata wasn't melted either. The English muffins were served without any jelly or butter. Everything they served is on paper plates with plastic forks. The crispy fish taco wrap was phenomenal! My mom and I loved it. And so reasonable at $8! However, the teriyaki salmon did not taste teriyaki at all. The noodles that came with it were good with sesame oil aroma but the salmon itself was pretty bland and had no hint of teriyaki at all imo. Workers were nice. However, an incident did occur while I was leaving where another customer who was a vegetarian and had ordered a eggplant parm and got chicken, told the workers his issue, and they didn't seem very apologetic or admit that they had made a mistake. I respect and admire when workers can be very humble, apologetic and pleasant about a mistake. Maybe they did after I had left but I personally didn't see it. great breakfast spot. The food is good and they are really fast. The lady working here is also about as nice as they get. The prices are very reasonable as well (I get a nice size burrito and a large coffee for 8 bucks). I recommend the state street wrap with salsa but you can customize however you want. It actually says on the menu to let them know if there's something you want that you don't see on the menu. I'm yet to try any of the Korean dishes but I hear they're good so I'll have to stop in for lunch sometime and give it a shot. read more

We came in on Saturday, looking to try World of Falafel only to find them closed. Fortunately, this place was open and we decided to have lunch here. I had a tuna hoagie and the Mrs. had a kimchi cheesesteak. The food came out quick and the very friendly proprietor was taking care of us. The tuna was excellent. Tuna is very underrated and is usually just ok - but when done right it is fantastic - I was quite happy. Now for the kimchi cheesesteak - the wife liked it. I didn't really care for it, but then again, I don't really like kimchi at all. So i wouldn't hesitate to go back here for another quick lunch next time I'm in the area. read more

Highly Recommend this fine joint in a nice neighborhood. I had the banana pancake which was great and I believe about 2.50 or a price point very modest. In addition I was looking at my phone looking over the dishes that were prepared at this establishment on the yelp site and the owner came over and said what would you like? I showed her some of the photos of the dishes and not only did she know the exact contents and name of the dish she knew the yelper who posted it! She goes o thats gerrys fried eggs or whatever the dish was! This goes to show you - you do not need to run to philly to spend $100 and up on the newest brunch spot that sprouts up in the city. I would come back to try some of there Korean speciality items that they serve one day out of the week although they are very flexible about cooking whatever you are in the mood for. I always wanted to give this place a try and I'm sure happy we did. We stopped in a little before noon on a weekday and it really does give you the feel that your in a kitchen. It quickly filled up at noon. I ordered a chicken panini with a side of sweet potato fries and my fiancé ordered a spicy pork wrap. Both our sandwiches were delivered by the owner who apologized that my panini was not a panini because the panini maker was not on therefore they did not press my sandwich. She also apologized and proceeded to tell us that our fries would take a little longer because the fryer was never heated. Both were disappointing especially for 2 first time visitors. That being said the food was great especially the spicy pork wrap, wow sooooo good!!! I would definitely give this place another try. Hopefully they were just having an off today, as do we all. I was Sitting down sipping a coffee and waiting on a sandwich for 25 minutes or more. so when I went to cancel the order being I had an appointment to make I was told " but it's ready" I look at the toast on the toaster tray and not a sandwich ready and say "just the coffee please I really need to go." The owner says "ok, one fifty for coffee next time if your in a rush say something" so I hand her a ten dollar bill and she gives me eight dollars back then turns away and leaves I guess I paid the extra fifty cents for the toast that was not used....... Wow, this place is surprisingly delicious!! I stopped by for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon, and was very impressed with the amount of people who were inside eating and waiting for takeout. I ordered the tofu veggie balls (tofu 'meatbally' topped with roasted veggies, marinara and parmesean cheese) and was very surprised with the flavor. The sandwich was large, and the tofu balls were very well flavored. The roasted veggies atop the sandwich were perfectly roasted. The only gripe (and reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) about here is that it took 40 minutes to get my sandwich, so next time, I'd definitely call in an order and pick it up later. read more

This is sort of like a more interesting version of a hometown diner; the kind of place where friendly people from the community meet and eat BUT where the food ranges from great cheeseseaks to homemade pasta, grilled veggies and Asian delicacies. The specials are always changing and so creative and tasty. I never order off the menu and usually ask Misha, the delightful owner/chef, to make me whatever she likes. It is always a wonderful surprise. Try the homemade dumplings for lunch. For breakfast, pancakes are the best around. Call ahead to order if you are in a rush.
