An HOUR later our servers tell us the kitchen "lost the order" as a server the kitchen often doesn't lose an order she just forgot to put it in. Tbh I would rather hear that we then decided that we did not want to wait for them to make it so I asked for our check for the drinks that's when a manager came over to ask us if we would like our food to-go. So me and the girls headed out for the night, starting with dinner at none other than Stats. I had never been here, but had heard good things about it from my friends that I was with, so I thought I'd give it a go. It's a great idea for a restaurant, but I'm just not so sure I liked it all that much. I expected something more "sporty", like the ESPN Zone or Fox Sports, I mean I guess that's the look they were going for "different from your typical sports spot", but I personally wasn't quite feeling the atmosphere. However I will give them props on the food, for the pricing, and the portions, they were both convenient and sufficient. My friend had the ribs, and was surpised that the half rack alone with a side of mac and cheese was enough to suffice her hungry stomach. I had the BBQ pull pork sandwich and had pork overflowing from the bun, it was goodness for my southern style appetite that night. Another negative was the service. Our waiter was absolutely NON-existent. I don't know if it was because he figured we were some "cheap ass" college students (since we do look so young), or what, but he paid us no attention, didn't give us the time of day when we were trying to ask him questions about the menu, and order. I was not happy with that at all. And I must agree with Andre regarding the bathrooms they were definitely a super neat concept. I would have given the place two stars, due to the atmosphere and the service, but they got a +1 for the food. Local sports bar/dining establishment in downtown Atlanta that is within walking distance to Olympic Centennial Park and several nearby hotels. We were looking to catch a Sunday afternoon football game and arrived around 5:30pm with no issues getting a table. While they have lots of TV's throughout the place, the sound will only come from one game as you might expect. They also have an outdoor bar with more TV's out there as well. Our waitress was friendly but a tad slow. The place was generally warm inside which made us not want to stay that long. As for the drinks, I enjoyed the Technical Foul and the Double Play. On the food side, the Kung Fu Ribs were big and delicious and my friend said the wings were really good. I just had the Club sandwich, which was OK. Hmm. . . a sports bar that doesn't look or feel like a sports bar? How does one pull that off? Apparently Stats got the memo, and they interpret giving just enough flavor create a hybrid sporty-upscale place. Flat screen TVs, a over-sized stock ticker, waitstaff in track jackets all add some sporty spice. Otherwise, its quite the opposite of a 'dive sports bar' - think modern loungy seats, pristine trendy bar stools and dark woods. One of the main attractions is the 'personal tap' tables - you have to have a minimum of six people seated at your table (a useful rule, because it can also give you a good excuse to go hit on the cuties at the bar, using the minimum as an excuse) for them to turn the taps on. Each table has a combo of two different taps - so cross your fingers you get seated at one that you like. As a cautionary, the taps cut off at a certain number of ounces, so the waitstaff can make sure no one at your table is falling down drunk. A bit of a buzzkill to wait for the taps to be turned back on, but a good chance to escape to check out the bathrooms that Eric S talks about. The overall vibe is cool, and the menu definitely has some interesting interpretations - we got the cheese fondue, and the array included sausage, apples, giant croutons, and broccolini? Definitely a twist on your run of the mill fondue. Also on the menu are things like a Thai steak salad, nachos that could feed a small army, and (interestingly), 'Southern hummus,' a.k.a. pimento cheese. Park in the deck across the street, and they will validate your parking - you have to pay $5, but then you'll be refunded when you bring your validated ticket back out. Unfortunately they were having technical issues with some of the feeds, so the UGA game wasn't available on all sides of the bar which was disappointing. From what this restaurant claims on their website, I was led to believe I would experience a premier sports bar experience, but after visiting this restaurant for dinner, I came to the conclusion that I can get a much better sports bar experience at many sports bars in the suburbs or even at some other downtown Atlanta locations I have been to. They advertise five bars on their website, but when I went on a Sunday evening I only found one bar, and all the seats were taken. The upstairs was reserved for a private event and the lower level was closed. I asked about sitting at some high tables around the bar but were told they were reserved. I therefore had to get a seat in the main dining area (not around the bar). There were several screens around. One near me was playing a basketball game, but it switched to local news shortly after. I thought this was a sports bar. I think the channel was just set to the local CBS affiliate and they didn't change it when the news came on. The other screens were all playing the same game, except for one that had a hockey game. For a diner in the main restaurant, therefore, there is not much variety of viewing experiences. There was no audio playing from any game. I didn't see that the food or drink redeemed the restaurant much. I had the dirty bird sandwich, which I have no complaints about, but there was nothing exceptional about it compared to other similar chicken sandwiches I have had elsewhere. It had a fairly large deep fried chicken breast with a very crunchy breading on it. For a side, there are a few choices other than fries, and I asked for the orzo salad, which is a cold type of rice salad that was a little on the creamy side. A big disappointment, though, was the beer selection. There weren't any craft beers of note in their menu. The highlights were Terrapin Hopsecutioner, Goose Island IPA, and Sweetwater 420. The remainder of the draft beer options were standard beers like Bud Light. There were not any unusual or out of the ordinary craft beers as I have ordered at many other sports bars (or if there were, they were not posted on the menu or disclosed by the server). They advertise taps at the table, but I didn't see many tables with this option. I noticed that the table near me with taps had a bud light tap and a shock top tap, neither of which is a beer I would want. The taps on the table seems to me a little bit of a gimmick -- who needs it if you have prompt service in refilling your pints? read more

I've ventured out to Stats many times downtown, always for work functions. This marks my 5th trip here. It's a semi easy walk from the Dome, Philips Arena, CNN Center, College Football Hall of Fame or Ga Aquarium. It's not necessarily a place I'd take my son but it doesn't seem non kid-friendly. The atmosphere here is really cool and the music on this occasion was 80s (that's a plus). With the tvs going, surprised they had music playing since this is a sports bar. This bar is a few steps above your typical sports bars, thanks to the metered beer taps on the tables (no need to ask for a refill). They do have a bonus room downstairs that my company has rented out before (pool table, darts) but not sure if it's still there. Pardon me for not checking again. We sat down and got queso dip for the appetizer. The queso was great but the chips were semi greasy and the salsa was not anything spectacular. My food, Jorge's Nachos, was massive. For the price, you get a ton! However, I was not thrilled with the taste. Lackluster and average for nachos. Our service was stellar, especially for a group of 15. Can't say I've had bad service yet here so that's a huge plus. Parking is tricky, as you will have to utilize the parking deck across the street and I don't think they validate since this is smack downtown. It's the Dirtybird sandwich, friend chicken coated with spicy and flavorful crust. The portion sizes are quite adequate so leaving hungry isn't a possibility. They have lots of salad options. As for another entree recommendation, do try the Trophy Chicken; it's grilled chicken with sweet & tangy sauce. They have a full bar along with a nice wine list. The bar is the main highlight with countless tv screens showcasing different games. They also have Tvs around the dining area so if you don't wanna be close to the bar yet want to enjoy your game you surely can. Back to the food; for the side options I tried the Orzo salad, the French fries and the sweet potato fries, but I have to say the French fries were the best. Though if you are trying to eat healthy the orzo cold salad is quite scrumptious as well. I was worried when I read the poor reviews of Stats - I came with a group of 17 (2 adults and 15 teenagers). They took our reservation. Our tables were ready on time & they gave us 2 servers. We all had separate checks and they didn't mind at all. They did not add gratuity and communicated that the kitchen was busy and food might some time. All 17 meals were out in 20 minutes! The service here is awesome. The waitress was even happy to take my cell phone and charger and plug it into the wall behind her computer station. Anyway, the food was pretty tasty. I had one of the Philly Cheese sandwiches and my friends both had the Seared Ahi Tuna salad. The atmosphere and furniture of this joint is pretty interesting. I also like how the restaurant is located near other cool food/drink spots. They have cigars to order from the restaurant menu--I've never seen this before. Where would you smoke it? We had a corporate event here last night. At first I wasn't thrilled with the idea of dinner at a bar. I was hungry and wanted to be able to sit down and eat a full meal and have a conversation. But when I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting bar food appetizers - nachos, wings... maybe a taco bar. And that is what the food was, but it also felt like a complete meal. There was taco bar; complete with tortillas, chips, queso sauce, white rice/ beans, chicken, steak and misc toppings. There was also a separate section with a baked potato bar, shrimp fajitas and chicken fajitas. And a tray of desserts, including cookies, brownies, pecan pie and assorted cheesecakes. Being a vegetarian, I was happy to find beans, rice and baked potato. Food was great. Only down side, there was a piece of meat on my plate. I have high hopes it sneaked in on accident and the beans were not cooked in it. Because we had several vegetarians eating it... =( There was a lounge area upstairs. And we managed to get the one taller table upstairs, so eating wasn't awkward. There was music in the background, but unlike a lot of bars, it was loud enough to hear, but low enough I could talk to friends without yelling. Deck up stairs is nice .Open. Warm. Okay view. Comfortable seating. I would say this is a good place to come out, watch a game and indulge on some sports bar food. The food... Long story short - here's the key -- order bar food. Order Nachos, chips and salsa, burgers, but DO NOT be tempted by the really ambitious menu. I'll explain. I am a HUGE fan of tuna... they offered Tuna Tataki, ordinarily a easy to prepare, very fine meal. Only one thing is required: High Quality Tuna. My Tataki was ICE COLD. No problem, I like raw tuna. Problem: this had been frozen. I could tell because of the texture and wetness of the cold fish. Just skip it. The tuna was presented on a salad, but the salad was just drenched in dressing... Charlie decided to go for the cheesesteak... and he was equally disappointed. The meat, he said was stringy and really fatty. Skip that one too. Charlie also has the Tomato Basil soup, and gave it props. Our basket of chips salsa and guac were good (though it strangely had massive chunks of avocado... something lacking in the preparation there). Larry had the nachos, and they were quite good. I say order bar food because seriously, how can you screw up nachos? It's a sports bar. Order them. Get a burger. Watch a game... Dont do what I did. Watched groups of 10, 2, 2, 2, 2 that were behind e on the list go in front of me. When I asked the hostess, she gave me attitude, told me "you are by yourself go sit at the bar and don't wait." My favorite thing on the menu is the pretzel! Make sure to dip it in the queso. I don't recommend this place if you have a big group. The service tends to lack there and never seems to be attentive. We've come several times with a group during lunch. Even if it's slow, the service is subpar. We usually opt for the bar. Makes it a lot easier to order, get your food, eat and leave. They do always put whatever you want to watch on the TV screens. We usually come to watch soccer games during lunch. My coworkers love the wings. So put that on the must try list. read more
