My partner and I had a lovely experience here for dinner. It was our first time and we were blown away at how exceptional the service was. We each ordered a drink, we also got the crispy shrimp, rolls, mac & cheese, hassle back potatoes and 2 types of wagyu. I thought the crispy shrimp was the highlight!!! It was so flaky and had amazing Asian flavor. I also really liked the bread as it tasted like a buttered biscuit. I ordered the mac & cheese which was a decent portion. I liked the flavor and texture. My partner really liked the steaks and thought they were supple. We also really liked the hassle back potatoes. The restaurant provided a complimentary dessert - we chose key lime pie. It had a nice tartness and it was also a way bigger portion than we expected. I would recommend this place for a special occasion or if you don't mind spending $ for a dinner out.

Great for special occasions - very high end steakhouse. The appetizer options are amazing, every single one. I could go here and just eat appetizers. When you order your steak, the server repeats it back to you with a short description. Servers are knowledgeable and attentive. Dark lighting, seating is different in different areas, very fancy bathrooms with smart toilets, decorations are unique and grand.Every detail was well thought out.

Red Velvet Bread Pudding up front. Triple Chocolate Bombe behind it and sorbet and other desserts

One of the best steak restaurants I have been to. Of course it is coming from the guys who started Mastro's. Great decor. Amazing service. Our waiter and staff were tops. The steaks were amazing. The highlight for me was probably the best steak I have ever tried (it was priced that way) the special Snake River farm Wagyu Tomahawk.. the perfect mix of steak and fat you could ever eat. Cooked to perfection and sizzling hot. We ordered so many sides I am trying to remember my fav items .. hasselback potatoes (cream cheese sauce omg) sweet corn and the whipped potatoes (mashed potatoes) was amazing. Also the Caesar salad with poached egg another one of the best Caesars I have ever had. The mushrooms were ok. I also tried my wife's filet which was delicious but the Snake River steak was WOW! Share it with someone. Since we were doing multiple birthdays we tried a bunch of different desserts. Triple Chocolate Bomb was the best, the shell was sooo good. I avoided the marshmallows. Red Velvet cake and Gelato Cake were a distant 2nd and 3rd. Overall I would love to comeback!

Amazing food, horrible photo. Mushrooms, au gratin potatoes, 12 oz filet mignon. Very good.

The 12 oz filet mignon was cooked to perfection and didn't need anything. (I don't like when places serve their steak with sauce on it.) The au gratin potatoes and sautéed mushrooms sides paired well together, but we thought we should have swapped one out for something green. Service was okay. Nothing too special about the decor. But the food speaks for itself.

Food: - butter rolls (on the house) 10/5 so soft and buttery! This is a very late review because I just found this photo in my camera roll. We came here when it first opened a few years ago and loved the service and food. I don't remember the wine or the steak I got, but I know everything is good here. The overall vibe was pleasant.

Yummy dinner rolls in a takeout container

Review is for a takeout experience. They got rid of the outdoor seating that Searsucker had - & we were celebrating a birthday and wanted a homey atmosphere anyway. Hostess was great. They don't normally include their delicious (complimentary) dinner rolls in a takeout order, but can add them on request. Food: DINNER ROLLS: *Delicious*. Carby goodness. STEAK: Everyone was very happy SEABASS: I don't eat meat, but I would not recommend the seabass. Very expensive. A giant hunk of fish - but (steakhouse style, I guess), there was absolutely no sauce on it and it tasted a bit fishy. Maybe I was supposed to pay another $6 for "chardonnay butter" in addition to $67 for the lonely piece of fish? I used some of the truffle butter that came with the Hasselback potatoes and then made it more palatable. POTATOES: We got --Hasselback ($19): extremely delicious. Very large. This and the dinner rolls were great. --Baked potato: not quite as exciting as the hasselback, but a very nice example of a loaded backed potato. I don't think you need to pay $16 for this as opposed to having something you can't get everywhere (like the Hasselback). Overall, the dinner showed me that steak-eaters like it - and that it's not for a pescatarian like me. But I was very happy with the rolls & the yummy Hasselback potatoes!!

I was really surprised with Steak 48. I thought it would just be an "all ambience" restaurant where the atmosphere is there but the food isn't. Their service is quality as is their food. We ordered the 22oz dry aged bone in Ribeye, Fried Lobster, Lobster Escargot, and the Crispy Hasselback Potatoes. The Ribeye was cooked perfectly and had a nice crust to it. The Lobster Escargot was almost addicting. The cheese and the caviar on the lobster escargot worked well together. The Fried Lobster had a unique KFC taste to it, it tasted great. The Hassleback Potatoes were crispy and delightful. Also, I loved the complimentary bread rolls. The rolls tasted like they were infused with butter. Overall, I enjoyed Steak 48 Del Mar and I recommend it.

I made a reservation on OpenTable for 2 and noted that it was a special occasion. After arriving and self-parking, we were quickly shown to our table. Once seated, the hostess passed me an envelope with a sweet card from the GM congratulating us on our special milestone. I got a refreshing lychee mocktail. All the food was fabulous. We started with their hanging bacon and their complimentary bread rolls. The hanging bacon slices were thick, beautifully presented, and delicious. We also got the scallop entree for an appetizer. It came with 6 huge, tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned scallops and an extraordinarily delightful sauce. I held onto the sauce for my steak! We each got a steak- petite filet mignon medium rare for me, and bone-in ribeye rare for my husband. They were cooked exactly as we ordered and absolutely scrumptious. At the end we got the Triple Chocolate Bomb which was rich, decadent, and gorgeous. It also came with a very personal touch - a note written in Chocolate on the plate! Incredible attention to detail for each guest. Service was extremely attentive. Our water glasses were refilled frequently! They paced the courses well and did not make us feel rushed. Lighting was dim but each table's light could be brightened for menu browsing. A couple of additional delighters-- the toilets automatically open their lids when you are there, they auto-flush, and their lids auto-close. I love the high tech and very clean bathroom. They also called me the day after our visit to thank us for visiting. Top notch service!

Came here for a work dinner and we had a wonderful time. The ambience was good and I liked how we could change the brightness of the lamps on the table as needed. The bathroom was also nice and had heated toilets and thick paper towels. The service was great as well, our servers were really nice and knowledgable. They explained the menu and were familiar with everything and were able to answer all of our questions. They also checked in on us frequently and changed our plates in a timely manner. And for the star of the show, the food! We enjoyed a variety of the menu and did family style for our appetizers, sides, and desserts, which was amazing so we could try a little bit of everything. They started us off with complimentary bread which was nice. For appetizers, we started off with the seafood tower, which you can customize with oysters, crab, shrimp, and even lobsters. We opted out of the lobster but the oysters were fresh and delicious and the shrimp were huge. The cold bar is actually displayed towards the center of the restaurant which is a nice show of how fresh their seafood is. We also got the hamachi, torched scallops + caviar, A5 kobe "wine fed" ny strip, and wagyu beef tartare. All the appetizers we tried were delicious but I was blown away by the beef tartare. This was the best tartare I've ever had! For our main course, a majority of us got the ribeye cap, which was delicious and a lot bigger than I expected. I got it cooked medium rare and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Just enough salt and beautiful crust. We also got some lobster tails on the side. We got a lottt of sides and shared them. We tried the creamed spinach, mac and cheese, sautéed wild mushrooms, sautéed sweet corn, blistered shishito peppers, roasted brussels sprouts, crispy hasselback potatoes, boursin cheese whipped potatoes, chef daniel's au gratin potatoes, caesar salad, and broccoli. My favorite side was the sautéed mushrooms. I think the other sides were pretty good but nothing extraordinary. We finished the side with some desserts; we got the ultimate warm vanilla caramel cake and triple chocolate bombe. I liked the caramel cake the most. The contrast of the cold ice cream and warm cake made it so good. The candied pecans and whipped cream paired perfectly. Overall, we had a great time and I would definitely come back for a date night so I can share this with my partner!

And the Mercedes service was absolutely fantastic. Connor was an excellent leader gave us all the suggestions possibly I am a little disappointed that the blue cheese all for that stuff with blue cheese fresh they were like the old olives so I feel like the martinis were that should be definitely a five star experience if they were stuff and if they have caviar would be even better. The steak was very well cooked juicy. I would have liked if they had dipping sauces for them or an option, I'd be beautiful.

22oz ribeye...sooooo good!!!

I don't always enjoy a $250+ fancy meal on myself for a single meal...but when I do, it's when a vendor is treating me! Great service from the hostesses, bartender, bussers, and staff. Gorgeous, elegant and modern inside! Love the open kitchen sections. COCKTAILS! $22 Expresso Martinis and $22 Old Fashioneds are expensive, delish and fabulous! Glad I wasn't paying! $100 Seafood Tower of fresh chilled lobster tails, crab legs and claws, oysters, and giant shrimps..so good! $19 Wedge Salad...an American Classic done exceptionally! $31 Fresh Burrata...the most decadent, smoothest, creamiest and most expensive cheese appetizer I've ever enjoyed! $20 Prime Steak House Meatballs...best meatballs every? $82 22oz Ribeye Steak...JUICY! BEEFY! EXPENSIVE! I love a good meaty well marbled ribeye steak. Extra buttery and melt in your mouth! So good! Easily one of the Top 3 steaks I've ever eaten. Seemed a bit overpriced though, does not come with sides because this is a fancy schmancy restaurant. $16-20 Sides...rich people's version of Mac & Cheese, Creamed spinach, all fantastic. $22 Ultimate Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake...it is truly decadent, delicious, and exceptional, or ultimate? YUM! So glad I wasn't paying...anyone care to take me?

I've dined here several times and the food and service have always been excellent, which is why we chose it again to celebrate my husband's birthday. The ambiance is beautiful and the kitchen consistently delivers, but unfortunately this visit reminded me why the noise level can be a challenge here. When I made the reservation on OpenTable, I specifically requested a quiet table since it was just the two of us and previous visits have been quite loud. We also arrived early hoping that would help. The evening actually started out perfectly -- we were the first guests seated and the dining room was calm and relaxing. Shortly after, two very large parties (around 10-12 people each) were seated right next to us. The noise level escalated quickly and became overwhelming. It got to the point where my husband and I could barely hear each other and eventually stopped trying to talk because it was just too difficult. Our server was also taking care of those large parties, so service slowed quite a bit. Dessert took a while and the wait for the check was longer than expected. When I asked if there were quieter tables available, our server mentioned that the window tables tend to be the quieter option if you arrive early and request them. That was a little frustrating to hear since I had done both when making the reservation. That said, the food was outstanding. We ordered the Wagyu Tomahawk with broccoli, corn, and whipped potatoes, and everything was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. I truly want to give this restaurant five stars because the food and service have always been strong. But after multiple visits where the noise level has been an issue, it's hard to ignore how much it affects the overall experience -- especially for a special occasion dinner. Great food, beautiful space... just be prepared for the possibility of a very lively dining room.

My husband, dad, and I came here for a last-minute dinner since we were in the area and were pleasantly surprised to find it fairly empty with no wait on a Friday. While we were seated and drinks ordered right away, our server didn't come back for an exponential amount of time. We saw her near the bar just chatting with a coworker and not once looked up to see if we were ready. Once she did finally come over to take our order, she didn't write it down, which is always worrisome because it's a 50/50 shot the order will be correct. Unsurprisingly, my dad's meal came out completely wrong and we had to wait the entire length of time that it took to make another pizza. By the time he received his, my husband and I were pretty much finished with our meals. When we received our bill, she said that she took off the $4.00 garlic knots "for the trouble", which was more insulting than anything. They should have comped the entire pizza. To add insult to injury, she was not very pleasant in general. *In response to the below comment: It was garlic knots, which are on the menu at Del Mar and they are listed as $4.99. I am writing a review on the correct location.

The burger comes with garlic aioli, and I asked for extra on the side for my fries. I finished the burger and almost all the fries, which says a lot. The burger was flavorful and satisfying without being overly heavy, and the fries were crispy and paired well with the extra aioli. My husband got the classic burger, which comes with their version of a 1000 island style dressing, and he liked it. He also ordered a beer that paired well with the burger. My sister-in-law had the ahi tostadas and tuna ceviche and enjoyed both. The flavors leaned fresh and bright, especially the ceviche, which balanced nicely with the heavier items. The space itself is a highlight. There's a lot of natural light coming in through large windows, and the decor is very aesthetic and thoughtfully designed. It feels bright and inviting without being too loud. It's better suited for smaller groups rather than large parties. Service was great. Our server was very kind and attentive. At one point they accidentally dropped a couple of my husband's fries and immediately brought out a full fresh basket to replace them, which was a nice recovery and honestly a win. With three sodas, one beer, all the food, and a 20% tip, the total came out to $144. Not all food and drinks are pictured (missed my husband's burger and beer, and my sister-in-law's tostadas). Overall, good food, solid portions, thoughtful service, and a well-designed space. A strong option if you're in the area.

The service itself was mediocre at best, but the food was genuinely one of the worst meals I've ever been served. It was so bad that despite being extremely hungry, I couldn't force myself to eat it. The pasta was claimed to be a creamy, truffle and cheese pasta with an herb roasted chicken. It wasn't that creamy, there wasn't really a truffle taste, and the chicken honestly just felt like a shredded rotisserie chicken. The pine nuts were a nice addition and the pasta itself was a nice texture but overall the dish was very underwhelming. The pizza we got was like a meat lovers pizza. So this looks like a top shelf liquor store. I walk in and ask if there's a bar, the cashier says…read morethere is and tells me to take a seat by the fireplace. I thought it was kinda weird but did so. Then the fireplace spins around into a speakeasy. It's the coolest bar I've ever been to and I immediately sent a video to my buddies of the fireplace spinning around into the bar. The beer selection is limited but the cocktail list is lengthy. So I got a amor picante and English brown ale. Both were pretty tasty, the bartenders or more like mixologists and know what they're doing. That's this critic's review.

This was our first time visiting, we choose to go for our 1st yr wedding anniversary. Thought we…read morecould have a few drinks, enjoy the ambiance and then proceed with our night. Right away when we arrived I noticed that the flooring on the revolving fireplace looked like it needed to be replaced. I shrugged it off thinking they needed light weight materials for the revolving floor entrence. But I didn't think it was a good look for what is supposed to be a swanky exclusive vibe and being the first thing you really see. ( First impressions are important) Despite having made a reservation, we were seated directly between the revolving entrence and the exit, in the two coolest looking but most uncomfortable chairs. They were not practical at all for sitting and conversing a in a loud environment. That corner, in my opinion, should be reserved for the hostess and not for guest. Initially we thought these chairs were a quick stop before being moved to some of the other available sitting at the bar or around the perimeter we could clearly see when we came in. We asked, and where told those were our seats. No offer was made to be moved. We did not get a server to come to us until after we had placed our drink order with one of the hostess, about 20min after we were seated. Our server was very nice and polite. No issues there, just took long to get to us. The drinks were disappointing. Forgettable to say the least. We ordered one of there menu items and a Moscow mule. We were sad to see the Moscow mule served in a glass you might normally get a mojito in ... it wasn't served in a copper cup. As we sat there and looked at the place, we both thought the ambiance and decor was nice. However we were surprised to see so many people looked very underdressed considering they have a "smart casual" dress code, completely destroyed the whole swanky exclusive vibe. Lots of men in shorts and both men and women in flip flops. I also noticed the flooring inside the speakeasy had similar wear and scuff marks, as on the fireplace. The need to update their flooring and the amount of underdressed guest did not help project the vibes that they are going for. This really felt like a fast food (drinks) chain in any mall. Sadly I would not recommend, do to the drinks not being all that good, the service was mediocre, the "vibe" and experience they sell fall short.
