WOW! I mean if I could give this place 10 stars I would. The staff made our 1st wedding anniversary so special. The vibe is so trendy and romantic at the same time. I love that the place is sort of split into different sections that all seem a little different. They gave us an amazing table with a glass wall where we could see the kitchen. The server we had was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us navigate the menu to picking things that paired well and that we would like. Erik and Darren were fantastic! Erik made sure we liked our drinks so if one wasn't up to par, he made it again. Darren always checked in on us. The bar as a whole was a great atmosphere because they took the time to make us smile and not make us feel rushed. Service in the restaurant industry is so robotic. After a visit last week, my wife began to have feel very ill from just her first and only pomegranate martini. While at the restaurant she began to feel very nauseous and lightheaded. As soon as we left she began to vomit uncontrollably and had difficulty breathing. I was close to calling 911 if she was unable to stop vomiting. It appears to be someone possibly added to her drink or something contaminated as she lost all memory of the night. I will be contacting the health department. read more

Been here a few times and have enjoyed the food and service in the past, but after our visit last week that will likely be our last outing to Steak 48. Food was on par as usual but that is to be expected at an establishment like this. Unfortunately, the service side of the house put us off this visit. Long story short our RSVP was mislabeled and after relocating to our seats at the back bar, the manager in that area berated the poor hostess for seating us in his area for whatever reason. We would have been happy to move but instead of talking to us, this guy continues to chew out the hostess within earshot of not only us but other staff in the area. There were maybe 6 other guests in the area as it was a very early visit so the place was not filled up yet as it normally is. The scene alone made us uncomfortable enough but this guy continued to be upset about us being seated at the bar and even went across the bar where he and another woman who appeared to work there continued to talk and point in our direction throughout our meal. We didn't ask for a particular seat, it was 4:30 in the afternoon so it was empty, and really we have no idea why this back bar manager guy was so upset, but he and the other employee there certainly ruined our experience. I'll save my trips to 48 for Dominic's when we visit Scottsdale again. Same ownership, clearly a different management team. Couple stars for a delicious meal as always but we won't be back. read more

Our dining experience last night at Steak 48 was amazing! Everything we ordered was delicious and well worth the money. The decor and ambiance was absolutely stunning. The servers were so knowledgeable and professional. Management did a wonderful job selecting the very best employees. The food was of the best quality and the desserts were unique and delicious. The wine list was perfect. We will definitely return to this restaurant on our next visit to the area. We were prepared to hate this place when we learned we couldn't bring our own wine (now you can) and all the parking was blocked off for the valet. But then we walked in... and what a wonderful evening! Food was delicious. Maybe the crust on a steak a little salty and Brussels sprouts a little under cooked. But my husband liked it that way. Ambiance was great... we were seated in a booth with glass partition to ceiling so it felt like a private room. Wow! Had our anniversary steakhouse dinner here and it did not disappoint! The service was outstanding and I was pleasantly surprised by the shear amount of employees that were there. We ordered drinks, appetizers, steak, side dishes, and dessert. Favorite was my steak- petite filet mignon. The service from the phone to everyone from servers, waiters, etc.was first class. I was not expecting any restaurant to top the steaks I've had at Ruth's Chris steakhouse, Steak 48 has just become my favorite steakhouse after one visit. The ambience is classy and elegant, and what you would expect from a first class restaurant. Our waiter Shaun went above, and beyond what we desired, or expected from a waiter. He was extremely professional, humorous, human (not plastic or stuffy) and extremely accommodating. We could not recommend this place any higher. It's nice to be pleasantly surprised. The remodel of this space is beautiful. The food lived up to its pricing. The tomato and crab is heaping with crab. The corn brûlée is everything creamed corn wishes it could be. We sampled a lot (but not steaks this time so we could order more) and everything over delivered. Post COVID, restaurant service in general definitely took a nose dive but not here. The staff at Steak 48 are exceptionally attentive. Take a walk through the restaurant and every person on staff is warm and inviting. Special mention to the dessert line who were especially enthusiastic! Tried to dine here yesterday with my good friend! As we were walking in they denied us entry because he was wearing a sleeveless shirt, mind you it's over 100 degrees ! We ended going back to the car to get his jacket and then they again denied us service ! Idk what it was but they were definitely being very disrespectful! Went back on the 17th for my Daughters 21st, being she was gluten intolerant and Steak 48 had zero options for gluten-free in the bread and cake department, We took a cake, and when we arrived we asked the reception what to do with it, and were told give to our server which we did, and they put in the back, I said would let them know when I wanted it back! ... food was excellent, then we asked for the cake to enable us to celebrate and wish her a happy 21st, as you are only 21 once in your life... we were told they didn't allow people to bring food from outside, I asked why no one said anything when we arrived, asked for the manager his suggestion was our gluten-free option is sorbet.. zero effort to help come up with a solution, total disappointment.. rewened the experiance, i have eaten at the Houston facility a number of times and know this would not have been my experiance they would have figured something out to keep the customer happy, zero effort in Del Mar.. our average bill is $2k - $4k, we dont just come have an appetizer and go... we had planned tow large group dinners, which we now will take to a more accomodating establishment. read more

Hands down the best dining experience I have ever had in my 52 years. From the door to table to the ladies room, every detail was meticulously presented. From the service to the food and the personal handwritten card from the GM wishing me a Happy Birthday was jaw dropping. Our lovely and cheerful waiter Chiago must have a culinary master's degree with his knowledge of the menu and offerings. This was by far the best birthday I have ever had and I have Steak 48 and their team to thank for it. I am so glad we grabbed the last table reservation for opening night. Steak48 is a place I've been watching under construction for the last year. So glad it's open. My family and I give it a try over the first opening weekend. The whole experience from start to finish was quite delightful. The hostesses were very welcoming and the wait staff all did an amazing job for every course. They filled the water glasses consistently and cleared plates for every course. Each dish was delectable. The bread was indeed as good as everyone says it is. Warm, buttery, soft, croissant-ish texture and melt in your mouth tastiness. The bang bang shrimp was a huge order and more than we expected, but very flavorful. The meatballs were perfectly roasted with a nice crust and soft and savory inside with a robust marinara sauce on the side. The caesar salad had the perfect balance of dressing to salad and the croutons were amazing in crunch and flavor. The butcher cut special strip that we split was fantastic. Everything you would expect from a $175 steak. Bursting with rich flavor, cooked to perfection, piping hot, each bite was a bite to savor and chew slowly and appreciate the amount of time it took to age the meat and extract the deliciousness from it. The side of mushrooms and whipped potatoes were fantastic but really put everything over the top. We were too full for dessert, but the wife got the key lime pie and loved it. She only had a couple of bites and took it home the next day. According to her, one of the best decisions she ever made because she thoroughly enjoyed it the next day. Me and my 8 friends dined here for dinner at 8:15 last night and it was so incredible! We ordered the Australian wagyu, burrata, hamachi, Caesar and wedge salads, and a bunch of steaks and branzino fish entrees. We also ordered some sides such as Mac n cheese, corn brûlée, Brussels sprouts, and whipped potatoes. I wish I could remember his name (I think he was younger with short brownish hair with a hand tattoo? Sorry if this isn't a good description) and he was very professional and accommodating. Everyone on the staff was attentive and patient and made our experience so fun and seamless. The cocktails were on point, I requested a Paloma with a touch more sweetness and they made it to my liking perfectly. Everyone there was knowledgeable, positive, and our group had the best time!!! I visited this restaurant last month July 2024 and I have traveled all around the world and visited so many 5 star restaurants. This one by far has been the best restaurant Ive ever been too. From the ambiance, customer service, service and the food was top tier. Very flavorful, my waiter was knowledgeable about the whole menu. My favorite part of the service was at the end they gave me a warm rag with essential oil on it and it made my hands so smooth and smelled so good. We had the best dining experience last night at Steak 48. The food was out of this world and the service was even better. The ambiance was perfection, we were sat in a speakeasy type booth that was semi-enclosed by glass making us feel like we were the only ones in the room. What reminded us we weren't was the center stage pristine kitchen that felt like we were watching a culinary ballet. Our waiter, Ben, was the perfect amount of attentive and funny. He made us feel special even down to the dessert which he had read "congratulations" on the plate as he heard we just had a baby. Ben is someone I would actually want to request when making a future reservation, which isn't something I've even considered in the past. We left there thinking of the show The Bear and how it's not easy to pull off something so well orchestrated in the restaurant world, but when it is it becomes the place that everybody talks about. There was a certain team spirit here that I haven't seen before. Steak 48 is a total experience and just what San Diego needs to revive the fine dining world.
