    Steak & Stonington Sea Scallops
    Ken A.

Stopped in while in the area. We were seated right away on a Monday evening, at a nice table by the window. Did notice the ambiance was a little dark but each table had a candle on it. Drink orders were taken right away, and then our meal order. Was surprised at the quickness of the food coming out. Appetizers were rather quick. The black chowder was nice and thick, creamy and tasty. Salad was plentiful. Our entrees came out in a good amount of time. Steaks were cooked to our specifications. I would take away one star for their side of mainly different styled potatoes but gave them a start back in the dessert.

I stopped here for a late lunch on a Sunday in mid summer. There were few dinners here so we had our choice of the lounge or dining room. We chose the lounge which was casual. The decor is loft like with a sea faring theme. It is located right off I-95 next to Mystic Village making it a convenient spot for travelers plus it has a parking lot. Our service was efficient and friendly. We split the Stonington scallops wrapped in bacon for starters. They were tasty but were lukewarm. I had the fish tacos which I devoured because they were crispy and delicious! My friend had the steak flatbread that he described as ok. so 4 stars.

OK, so there's something up with this place. We almost didn't go here because of how low the reviews were, but there were so many cars outside. And to our surprised these yelp reviews do not reflect the experience we had. This place has character and the food was awesome. It's definitely bar food but still great bar food. Additionally, they have an amazing happy hour for food and drinks. We were so surprised by how this did not match the reviews on yelp. We actually asked the waiter what the deal was.... They said that they have been recently getting bombed with bad reviews and believe it's due to a competitor or landlord issue. Will definitely be back and I hope this place will be around for an even longer time.

I went there yesterday for the first time! The food was delicious and reasonably priced for the happy hour- $9 for the steak loft sandwich! I took a star off because the service was very slow, so i would suggest having more servers work during busier times! I had the Sea Hag beer for $7 as well, which was their happy hour price. The ambiance was dark and tavern like- definitely sit by the bar or in the bar area if you go!!

Cam here for lunch while shopping in mystic village. It was a wednesday afternoon and we were seated immediately but it did end up getting pretty busy. I got the steak loft sandwich was huge and so good! My aunt was raving about her fried cod blt. Servers were all very kind. I liked the cabin feel inside this restaurant. I would come back here if I was in the area.

The vibe is great with a rustic style. Server was friendly. However the food is not good and the quality of the meat was not good either.

Restaurant is in a bad need of a freshining up. Way too dark paneling. Just paint it. Curtains are stained, carpet is shot. And there is a musty smell throughout. Waitress is very pleasant.. Ordered salads, cheeseburger, soup, meatballs, onion soup, grilled cheese, and schicken wrap. The salads were a bit dry, everything else was good. A soild C+ to B- rating on the food. Wouldn't make it a favorite but you can get an okay meal here.

Very good menu. Staff were nice, very helpful when making reservations for a large group. Service: experienced server=priceless. SL is a big restaurant, a steak house type. You are surrounded by wood, carved or not, and a fireplace of course. I had the soup and a burger with Gorgonzola cheese, very good.

This place is a casual bar & restaurant located in Olde Mystic Village. When you walk in, it's dark and moody with one side mainly the bar and the other side restaurant. We walked in right at the end of Happy Hour. Their menu was really good having drinks and food for 4 to 7 dollars. I had the Caesar salad which was decent. I wish it had more croutons and cheese. I also got the French Onion Soup which I wish had a little more seasoning. My mom's friend got NE Clam Chowder which she said was good. My mom got the house salad which was decent. On the regular menu, we ordered wings and fries. The wings were the butter black pepper ones. They were cooked well. The sauce was not coming through like I had hoped but still wasn't horrible. Their blue cheese was not my fave. It was too pungent. I like a milder blue cheese. The fries were thickkkkkkkkkkkk "shoestrings". They needed some salt and pepper. The service was bleh. The bartender, since we were at the bar, was not warm and welcoming. It seemed like every time we had a question, he was annoyed. I know places will be busy but when you see him laughing with others who are regulars, you would think he would be invested in new customers just as much to make them into returners. Overall, I would recommend if you need something quick/last minute.

I really liked the ambiance of the space, it's quite comfortable and has a nautical aesthetic. We were sat in a cozy little corner by the window, a great spot for watching the bustling of the little seaside town. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurant's offerings, noting in their introduction that the focus of the menu is on fresh local seafood, and that everything on the menu is freshly made in house. I was very eager to try a cup of the clam chowder for an appetizer since many other reviewers have said that it's some of the best they've ever tasted, and after trying it for myself I'm more than inclined to agree with them; it had a perfect consistency and excellent flavor. Boyfriend wanted the fried mozzarella so we got some of that, and that was pretty tasty as well. Boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich for his meal and I got the fish and chips. I didn't end up trying the sandwich, but he said he liked it. My fish and chips plate was pretty good; the fish tasted just a tad under seasoned to me, however the flavorful tartar sauce helped with that and I could tell the fish itself was great quality. The hand cut fries were good, but I wasn't really a fan of the coleslaw. Overall we had a pleasant experience at The Mariner. A very good choice for fresh seafood and a relaxed vibe. I'm sure I'll be in town again at some point; if I come back to The Mariner, I'll make a point to get a bowl of the clam chowder instead of a cup, because that alone is absolutely worth returning for... but until then, I'll be dreaming about it.

We started off with both raw and roasted oysters, both of which, we some of the best we have ever had. I love Shashuka. I've never had it with tomatillos. This version is now my favorite. I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. Others in our party felt similarly, that their meals were so flavorful and so well execucted that it made for a superb dining experience.

No oysters that day. But what they did have more than made up for it. The lobster roll was one of the best I've had--jam-packed with fresh lobster, served hot with butter, and absolutely delicious. Paired with a simple bag of Cape Cod chips, it was the perfect New England lunch. I also tried the clam chowder, which was the Rhode Island style. Unlike the creamy New England version or the tomato-based Manhattan style, this was a clear clam broth that really let the flavor of the fresh clams shine through. Clean, briny, and authentic. The service was friendly, the atmosphere low-key, and the food top-notch. Bottom line: Even without oysters, Mystic Oysters is worth a stop. On a visit to Mystic, I could not wait to find a restaurant that served more seafood than I could easily settle on. Sitting in the Mystic Marriott lobby, yelp pointed us to the Captain Daniel Packer Inne. What a find. Although the building was restored in 1979, it's origin dates to 1756. Everything seems to have been preserved -including the aura. As you would expect with a building older than the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is small in size but large in hospitality. Without reservations, we did not stand much of a chance in the upstairs dinning area, but a flight of stairs down to the pub in the cellar... and we were seated in 20 minutes. For appetizers, we had the phyllo dough lobster lollipops and an order of artichoke hearts that were resting in a light lobster sauce (the artichoke that is) that invited us to soak up what was left with the delicious homemade bread we were served. For our main course we had the halibut steak that was sitting on top of freshly mashed potatoes with a smattering of fresh corn kernels. The customer service attendants were mindful of their tables and visited at opportune times. -Not when you start to take a bite and never did we wonder where they might have gone off to. Parking is always tricky, but we got a good spot in the lot and were very happy. The wait for the table was maybe 10 minutes which was not too bad. The waitress was very good and she took care of our water, drinks, and bread right away. The place was busy but we really were pleased with the service! I ordered the fish and chips. Most of the table ordered a steak, veggie, and mashed potatoes. Truffle fries was the appetizer that landed on my end of the table. They were not my favorite. Those who had the steak seemed happy with the meal. Both of us who had the fish and chips were not happy with the meal. We had fish and chips at Steak Loft the night before- and they did not compare. They were perfect. The order I had at Daniel Packard were heavy and filling but I was missing the light tempura batter, the crunch and soft fresh fish, and the great tartar sauce that is the standard for fish and chips! I didn't take my leftovers which is not the norm for me. I'll swing by in the winter for a pint in front of the fire no doubt, but I think another dinner is not in my future.
