We get seated (of course no canyons for kids as usual) and our waitress who obviously hates her job or doesn't want to be there Half ass asks what we want to drink. We requested to go cups so we can have our drinks when we leave. The cups were over filled and had soda spilling down the sides. She places the drinks down on the table as if she doesn't see the mess. Had to ask for some napkins because she obviously no initiative in the first place. She tried to take our order (again with her terrible attitude) but we weren't ready because we were cleaning the soda off the table. We sat for a few minutes with our menus closed waiting for her to take our order but she just ignored us and took orders from the tables around us. This is the worst Steak and Shake ever. My mom called it Steak and Wait. These servers haven't been trained. No smiling. No silverware. No cream with the coffee. And EXCRUCIATINGLY slow. Went here last night and ordered 4 milkshakes for my family. Was informed upon ordering they were out of oreo (how do you run out of one of the most popular menu items??) Never again. I ordered in the drive through a grilled chicken sandwich, vegetable soup and a chocolate shake. I have to repeat my order three times. As I drove to the window to pat, I see a gift card promotion. So when I get to the window I asked to buy the gift card first and then use it. He says yes. A girl employee comes to help, she then gives me the gift card and receipt where she's already charged me for the meal and the gift card. I say, no problem, I'll use it next time. Then they hand me fries and a sandwich. I tell them, nope I wanted soup. The manager comes over to say the soup is in the back and did I want fries or chili? Now, 15 minutes have passed. Went in today to have lunch with my 1 year old grandchild. Waited a little longer than we should to be seated but no big deal. I was asked if I needed a high chair and the man went to get it. He came to us with the absolute nastiest high chair I have EVER seen. My jaw dropped I'm sure. I told him it was filthy and he said "I'll go get a rag" I literally could have used my nail to scrape grease and god knows what else off of it! What a disaster... We walked in and the restaurant was only maybe 50% filled, but it took a few minutes for a waitress to finally acknowledge us and tell us, 'I'll be right with you'. Well, we stood there for nearly 15 minutes more and then gave up and walked out, after the people who were waiting behind us had already left. I normally like Steak n Shake and this location is pretty typical of their others. However, today's experience was a little less than stellar perhaps because it was New Years Day and these guys and gals would rather be home watching the ball games than working in a mostly empty restaurant (staff outnumbered the customers 2:1).It started at the door when the only acknowledgment we received was from the waiter who said excuse me as he passed by. The host(?) had gathered the menus and waved us back to the table he set them on all by sign language. He had already returned to the kitchen area by the time we determined he had been signaling us to come sit down. We did discover later he spoke English as he was assigned to wait the table across from ours. Our waiter was a young named Adrian whose disheveled appearance was highlighted by an apron that looked like it hadn't been washed in at least 12 shifts. He was efficient and managed to get our orders correct and on time despite the on going verbal sparring with coworkers Victoria, Greg, and Rachel. Turns out the manager on duty, Jimmy, indicated they were several people short on the shift and perhaps that's why there was general morale problem. Overall the food was good and the "soap opera" like atmosphere provided entertainment while we ate. Timing is everything. We got seated almost immediately but the lady who was waiting on us was busting her butt to wait on tables, bus tables, and provide hosting services. The people who came in after us had a serious wait time to get seated. Maybe it was a shift change as additional staff did show up but they didn't seem to work as hard as the lady who waited on us. My girlfriend came here about a year ago. We stood around and waited to be seated and never were so we left. They just let us walk out the door. We tried it again Easter Sunday and it was a whole different story. They were extremely slow so we got waited on in a hurry. The $4 specials that we both got were good and hot. We had to wave our glasses around to get a refill. They got the bill all wrong and nobody seemed to know anything. The restrooms were awful and filthy with urine all over the floor in the men's. This is genuinely one of the worst service experiences I have ever had. Don't get me wrong, the food there is good and so are their burgers, but the service is terrible. I walked in the SnS thinking I was going to get a shake, but quickly changed my mind. The restaurant wasn't very full and there were two servers doing nothing. As I waited for a server to bring me to a table as the sign said, none of them came. I waited for about ten minutes before I decided that this burger joint wasn't worth my time and apparently I wasn't worth their time. I'm here to inform any person of the awful experience I had at this location. I think it is partly because the servers only want to serve people who are going to tip more. This was the worse experience ever. Stopped in for an inexpensive breakfast and the eggs looked old. Not fluffy as advertised. Waitress was nice but we heard a lot of excitement in the kitchen and heard the word 'roach'. We asked the waitress what they were talking about and she said a roach had been in someone's hair. I got off at 12 am and me my fiance and my brother in law decided to go here for some food. Dealing with them before and had a not so good experience - we placed our order through the drive thru and made sure to say " Can we get everything cooked fresh and we will wait for however long that takes?" ... Onlh to hear some smart mouth ghetto girl say "Uhh we always cook everything fresh" So we get our food ($18 spent) only to almost pull off and I say let me check the food. The food was literally thrown in the bag. The fries were upside down. All three orders. The fries were cold and just shining like they had been redropped. I go inside this time and wait at the counter only to see a young girl approach me. I tell her about the fries and she looks at me and somewhat frowns and says they just came out and throws her hand to side like "duh" - that set me off. I told her that I know it sucks to be at work and i understand because i just got off myself at 12am but my hard earned money will not be spent on cold food. Something tells me to look at the burgers. They are not what was advertised on the board. The burger was supposec to be a doubke pattie with cheddar and bacon amongst other things. I didnt even have lettuce, bacon,sauce ir my other pattie. Just cheese and the wrong cheese at that. The girl who was in my face started telling me i just cooked the stuff and lookef at me as if "so what do you want me to do" - I looked at her and said I'm not doing this with you where is the manager - she reolies I am the manager. So i say " are you on drugs or high off something!! How can you be picked to lead a shift like this?? You are looking me in my face and telling me I am a liar and not willing to do anything about my food because you want to argue" The customers inside were shocked and a guy who had been there only 2days made my food. The manager stood in the back and the smart mouth girl stood in the back. They saw i meant business. A young guy who just started made some delicious burgers and fries and was so polite.
