Horrible service! !!! We were out as a family for dinner and decided to stop here last minute... Wrong Choice! !! We walked in and we're standing unacknowledged ..staring at 2 employees on their phone in the bar.... one of the cooks talking to them. ... the manager was at the cash register and COMPLETELY ignored us!!! Hamburgers and fries were good, Server was better than most servers at the more expensive restaurants which was great! Burger on the thin side but very good. I was getting ready to write a review for this place and I was surprised to see all the negative reviews already posted. I'd been here a lot and never had any problems. But then I realized that I usually go through the drive-through, and when I do go inside I come late at night (2am or later). It's usually so dead at that time that it'd be hard to get anything but good service. Anyways, I decided to come one more time before reviewing. We came at a normal time, around 9:30pm. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken before we even finished being seated. Our food order was taken very quickly as well, however they were out of salad mix so that meant none of the salads were available. That was all that my wife had wanted so she had to quickly choose something else. Not that big of a deal. The waitress was quick on the refills and there were definitely no problems directed towards our table in regards to what the other reviewers mentioned. I think it's just luck of the draw, however, because another table which was seated and had all their drinks before we even walked in the door (which means they were there for at least a little while before we were) didn't even get their food until we were already almost halfway through our meal. It seemed like they were forgotten about. So I definitely witnessed what other reviewers are talking about, though it didn't personally happen to me or my table. Oh yeah and while the service was good, the waitress overshot herself a bit on the tip, costing herself a dollar. I don't remember the exact numbers of our bill, but I paid with a 20 and my change ended up being $7 and some coins. When she brought it to me, she handed me a five and 2 singles, plus the coins. Unless she was expecting a $5 tip or more, that should have been broken into all singles. In fact I've never met a waitress who didn't follow this normal protocol. So left with a choice of a $5 tip (a 40% tip) or $2 and some coins (just at 20%, a little less than the normal 25% I try to leave), I of course left the 2 singles and coins. Had she broken it properly, or at the very least not disappeared before I could ask her to do so, she would have gotten $3 and the coins. But yeah, anyways, I still have to say this place isn't quite as bad as the negative reviews make it seem. read more

I usually really enjoy this steak and shake but recently it's gotten out of hand. For starters the employees aren't the fastest there will be like 10 employees just standing around not doing anything I don't know if it had to do with their training or there just not good workers. I've only gone through the drive thru for this location and I must say I avoid coming here. Being a recent college grad, I'm used to eating late and this is one of the few places that are open. And a shame it is, that I really contemplate to myself, whether to eat or waste money on food that I know won't be satisfying. The fries here are consistently cold. And not only are they always cold, they're always old too. I must say I like the burgers ONLY because they're unique (the western burger I love!) and I can get something other than the usual beef and cheese. Steak and Shake I was so disappointed with the Frisco melt I ordered in the drive-thru yesterday. Will not be back.

Went on 4/7/16 around 4pm. Ordered and went to restroom to wash hands. The restroom was disgustingly filthy! This seems to be a theme with this chain of restaurants. The one in Daytona Beach is always filthy, floors, counters and especially the restrooms! Food at this place was not good. Fresco patty melt, had tiny patties (about the size of a half dollar), making the sandwich more bread than anything. Fries were cold. Shakes came long after the meal came. Done! read more

We come here a lot at night after the club and Danielle is usually our waiter and we come all the way over here passing like 4 steak and shakes just because of her service she's always very nice and helpful very friendly and always checking up on the table and making sure we are doing well...the food is good and she makes my shake on point all the time!! On 11/27/2017 My husband and I and our 3 children went to steak and shake in Sanford by the mall.Kids love to go there to eat so we went before movies. Unfortunate for us your serve by Name Catherine V. gave us the worst service ever she was unprofessional when she was severing drinks reaching over me to place drinks on table, she began to do the same with food order and my husband ask her to come to other end of table , she did not put in order correctly but walked away before we could say anything i had to get up to ask for extra napkin and told her order was wrong she came to table to confront my husband about order as if he made the mistake not her and left table rolling her eyes.I had to get up a second time to ask for a refill and silverware because she did not come back to table after that,now I can understand if she was slammed for the poor service but she had four tables that night two came in after us.Children never got crayons to do the games on mat or the lil hats they so much enjoy getting.As we are getting up to pay bill she sat another table throwing there menu on table and walking away from them.I inform Manger of how unprofessional she was and manger just said it wasn't her store she was just there covering that night..So disappointed if your not a people person you don't need to be in food business. read more
