We're staying across the street at the embassy suites and wanted to check out the beach. On our way both walking there and back we were stopped by this amazing smell and knew we had to come back and check out their menu. While texting some of our besties back on the Mainland they were telling us about their recent visit to Oahu and how they stopped here multiple times during their trip to get another steak plate. Between the smell and the positive review from somebody we knew we knew we had to try it and let me tell you it was as amazing as it smelt. When ordering if you go with steak they'll ask you on your preference of how you want your meat cooked. Both chicken and steak come with rice and a side of salad ( with ranch, thousand or Italian dressing) and then some kind of their teriyaki sauce. I found the Steak Shack to be underwhelming. My favorite Steak joint closed since the last time I was in Waikiki, so I decided to walk ~20-30 minutes to Steak Shack to give it a try because the reviews were so good. When we arrived, there were roughly 10 or so people waiting for their orders, so be prepared to wait awhile. We ordered the Steak & Chicken combo and we didn't feel it was worth the wait. The positives: There is a lot of food. You won't find yourself hungry afterwards. The negatives, at least during our visit: Long wait time. Dry Steak & Chicken. "Okay" flavor. We really wanted to like this, but it very much reminded me of run-of-the-mill teriyaki and I was pretty disappointed. The chicken is incredible- we had a mixed group- some liked chicken over steak. Others liked steak over the chicken. Either way- YOU can't go wrong. Get the combo plate if you want to try both. The salad is fresh, the rice is amazing & if you can (even if it costs you a few pennies more) ask for extra teriyaki sauce. It's so so good. A great meal for the family- portions are great size. My boyfriend and I first visited here in 2016 and he's been talking about how he's craving it ever since. I'm so happy that they're still open and thriving! Steak Shack is a cute little shack situated right on the beach. As of right now, there's no seating but there are some standing tables. We ordered their 12oz steak plate and it was the perfect size for the two of us to share. They make all of their food to order so we waited about 10 minutes for the food. It was just as good as we remembered it! It comes with this sweet teriyaki like sauce but the steak was already seasoned to perfection that we didn't even need the sauce. We've been so much seafood on our trip so it was definitely nice to have some steak! Highly recommend and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Hawaii! read more

We ordered 12 boxes of steak and chicken combos. These were fabulous for about 13-14 dollars. Pretty good portions but maybe not as large as a food truck portion cuz those are enormous usually. I recommend the chicken !! I preferred the bbq chicken over the steak myself. It was grilled more and had seared perfection. I was impressed they handled an order for 12! Yikes and kudos to them. It's a good option if you're already staying at a resort nearby and at Waikiki beach Vacationing in Waikiki. We were on the search for something nearby that didn't cost an arm and a leg. The menu is really straightforward - you can have chicken, steak, or combo (chicken and steak). Comes with rice and salad, your choice of italian, ranch or thousand island. We ordered three combos to split among 3 adults and 2 children. It was the perfect amount and the food did not disappoint. We saw how the lines could get really long and also read it in the Yelp reviews. We went on an off hour time, around 3 PM, hoping the wait would be less. We only had 1 one person ahead of us. Because it's made to order, we waited about 10 minutes. No big deal, we just walked around and then headed back. The food was all bagged up and waiting for us when we returned. It was piping hot so we could tell it was fresh. When we brought it back to our family waiting in our hotel rooms, it was probably another 10 minutes and still pretty warm. What an amazing find! The place is a little shack about 5 steps off of the beach. You can smell it about a quarter of a mile before you get to it! And let me tell you that it tastes as good as it smells, which is harder and harder to come by. I got the standard 6 oz plate made to order. It's served chopped up and comes with white rice and a side salad. I don't know what voodoo they did to the rice, but it's sticky, flavorful, and I could have eaten 3 more helpings of it. If you have a big appetite you can bump it up to an10, 12, or combo steak and chicken plate. Whatever choice you make you won't be disappointed. There are small counters you can eat at, or just steps away there are tables by the beach showers. This is a fast, delicious, and super cheap lunch that I've already been back for on my short visit. Super bomb cutty spot!!!! We called it in so we could just have it ready and start chowing down lol! It was still a bit of a wait as we were visiting during the pandemic (may 2021) and tbh, it was crazy packed everywhere!!! We couldn't get reservations at any restaurants and the lines were all out the doors which is why it was great to just order and pick up from Steak Shack. Food is bomb is all I gotta say! The steak is great, but definitely needs the steak sauce that comes with it. A 10oz plate will set you back $16 not including tax (pretty good deal). The rice is rather plain, nothing to write home about. The spinach that comes with it os also out of a bag. I heard someone ask for double rice instead of salad and extra sauce, which flowered the rice. I recommend this path for your order. We also had the steak and chicken. Which is 5 oz steak, 5 oz of chicken. The chicken is thighs, not breast so if you don't want thighs don't get the chicken. Chicken was bland. Had to use steak sauce to jazz it up. This place is all about the views. The beach is step away. The service was pretty fast, 10 mins and our order was ready. There are tables to sit on the beach and enjoy your meal. I can't comment on the food given we had to throw the meals away. The cook was very dirty and rude. After witnessing things I will not put in writing, I asked the cook for a napkin to wipe a dirty table my family was going to use. He flat out told me to move from the window as I was blocking the airflow (he was dripping sweat on the meat he was cooking).
