It's been years since I first reviewed this gem. I continue to come here when I can and still love it! The desserts will always be delish but I've also come to crave their super fresh turkey sandwiches and soup. Can't go wrong!

    Sunday Tea Service

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Small and cozy spot and on Sunday's they open it up for a fantastic fancy tea.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a great time with our friends. You'll need reservations in advance; because everything is scratch made for the tea service. We were served by the owner and she made us feel right at home. It was our first time in and it will not be our last. Everything was absolutely delicious and super filling. My husband couldn't even eat it all. We had yummy snacks for our own tea the next day. Thanks for such a great day!!!

Yummy regular scone with cream, lemon curd, and raspberry jam

Post pandemic this restaurant is takeout only, but everything tasted yummy as a picnic at Lakewold Gardens very nearby. Everything tastes made from scratch with love! The couple that served me were so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. What I ordered really "hit the spot"! If you are looking for amazing scones, comforting sandwiches, and delicious made from scratch soups you will love this place!!!

On a rainy day, my family took me here for nice snack and some warm tea. I was glad that we got a table because I was told that they are usually fully booked. To start we each got a different tea: Dragon Well, White Peach, and Coconut Cacao. All three came in an individual pot with a cute cover (to prevent burning yourself). I really enjoyed the white peach! Very flavorful. We also ordered a basket of scones. We got 2 regular scones and 2 of the white chocolate raspberry scones (special of the day). Both were delicious, but the white chocolate raspberry scones were amazing!! The scones came with lemon curd, sweetened whipped cream, and raspberry jam. All three went perfectly with the scones. The lemon curd was my favorite. My cousin has a major gluten allergy and Heather was kind enough to tell us that if we make a reservation and let her know about the allergy, she'd bake something that my cousin can eat. This made my family very happy because it's hard to find places that will make that type of accommodation. I'm glad I got to experience this gem while in Washington on vacation!

Lunch trio with split plea and bacon soup, berry scone and spring salad topped off with their jasmine pearl tea. Amazing food and tea.

I love this tea house, it is so adorable. My friend brought me a few months back when I was visiting from California and it defiantly left a great impression. I went back this past weekend while on vacation and my fiancé and I got the last table and I couldn't have been happier. The jasmine pearl tea was just as amazing as I remembered. I got the lunch trio with tea, a cup of soup, a small salad and a scone and it was amazing. It was a lovely rainy day so it was the perfect lunch to get our vacation started. I bought some tea to bring back to California with us along with some scones because they were so good. I can't wait for my next trip up there so I can go again.

The breakfast was very good - particularly the hashbrowns, which were among the freshest and most uniquely prepared that I've ever enjoyed - and the personalized friendly service was second to none. It is understandably a favorite with the locals, so you may have to wait a bit for a table to open up. Rest assured that, if only based on the breakfast I very much enjoyed, that wait will be well worth it. Hungry? Go here! You won't be disappointed!

Well, I've had the club sandwich which she said was very good and I'll tell you what happened from the looks of it it was definitely good. I had the pastrami Benedict, I will say that that missed the mark. There are two reasons that really miss the mark. One of them was the hollandaise sauce, which was extremely runny and a very pale yellow, which told me that they added too much liquid to it, and there wasn't enough fat or it was just a powdered mix and they over mixed it, and it had no flavor to it. The main reason I was disappointed was the pastrami they used, they used deli, sliced pastrami and chopped it up. If you're going to have a pastrami Benedict on your menu, make sure it's actual pastrami chunks and it is tender. The deli pastrami did not have any flavor to it. I asked our server about it and she said that one of the other girls that worked there really liked it and she ate it all the time, but it was too spicy for her. I will tell you right now. There was literally no spice to that dish at all nor was there seasoning. I would go back and try something different as everything else on the menu looks good and I give every breakfast restaurant at least two tries.

Without a doubt this is one of Tacoma's best dining experiences. Chef Shawn's team is small but mighty. The staff that we encountered were all super kind and attentive. It's widely known that Chef Shawn has a radiant personality and treats everybody in his restaurant like a longtime friend. He walked around chatting with everybody personally, showed off dishes as he walked through the restaurant, and was even happy to let diners take a peek at his kitchen (how does he make all this magic happen on TWO CAMP STOVES?!) The menu isn't massive, but everything on the menu is executed with precision and grace. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted but I've had my eyes on the Lobster Bomb for years. My husband got the "Tiny Burrito" which is quite literally the size of a newborn. The Lobster Bomb was excellent. Generous chunks of succulent lobster and the hollandaise was perfect! Subtle on the lemon flavor as to not overpower, but still rich and creamy. I tried my husband's burrito and the chorizo gravy is stellar. You could easily share this with 1-2 other people in my opinion. It lasted my husband two leftover meals! The restaurant itself is small but it's cozy and feels like you're at home. No frills, nothing over the top, nothing trendy. Just a relaxed vibe with lots of authentic touches from Chef Shawn. While this was our first visit it definitely won't be our last. Don't make the mistake I did and let years pass by before you experience Tibbitts!
