Simple food, prepared well, and served at a reasonable price. What more can you ask for? Everyone there was nice. I sat at the bar and was served quickly. The chef came out and chatted with me and my friends a bit. The food was quite good and was plated nicely for a little place in Hackettstown. The meals are somewhat upscale, which I found surprising and nice, but the atmosphere is very local and comfortable. I had the breakfast burrito and enjoyed it. Friends had an omelette and a southwestern skillet or some such thing, both of them were immediate fans. I'll be eating here much more often in the future. If you haven't gone, you should absolutely give it a try. As far as I'm concerned, there's nowhere better to get breakfast in the area. read more

I was working in the area and decided to give it a try. So it's a little different than my usual lunch spot (more a pub or traditional sandwich joint), it's very country, had scones ( never had one until today- Nutella scone was excellent), older crowd, etc...I had the short rib grilled cheese sandwich, which was 1 of the best sandwiches I've ever had with fries; I could have eaten 3 of them. I also had a scone (I actually had to ask what they were) and I was really good. Server was really friendly and food was quick. Only complaint was the sandwich could have been bigger. read more

The food is amazing... fresh, interesting and just really good. The Chicken Stella G's combines chicken, apples, avo's and a wonderful carmel sauce on a fabulous home made apple bread. Also fantastic breakfast burritos. My husband always gets the carrot cake. And the scones... TO DIE FOR (especially the raspberry-hazelnut)....we often buy extra to bring home (if there are any left!). They no longer serve dinner... and I'm very sorry we never made it there to try it. I might go back but frankly would probably look for something else around town for a good burger. This place used to be great, but while service was always nice and polite, it was always sort of lacking and today was awful. They have enough waitresses to handle their load, most of the tables had already been served. It took us about 30 minutes to get our food. We had to ask our waitress if it was going to be much longer. When she brought it out, they just put blueberries in a cup next to my pancakes instead of giving me blueberry pancakes, and both of our dishes were cold, so it's been sitting out there for a while. The hollandaise sauce on my mom's Benedict was obviously dried out a little, her roesti potatoes were like eating cold fries, and my pancakes almost felt stale. This is a sweet little spot that is super cute in the inside with decorations you would find at Kirkland's or something. It's so cute that I rolled out of bed with sweatpants and realized this is a diner where you should at least wear jeans etc. I ordered the pancakes which come in a set of 4 mini cakes, I could only eat 3. I also had the eggs and sausage which were also great. Great place for going out as a family or with friends. What a great find. I say find because my daughter and I stumbled in without having read any reviews on Yelp. Blasphemous behavior aside, this place was great. There's not much for me to add that others already haven't said. The place runs with the precision of a Swiss Watch. The staff is friendly, the decor is soothing and the food is really good! The menu doesn't get too foodie trendy and what they make they make well. My veggie daughter got the veggie dish and was happy, I ordered the Cobb Salad. I guess if you watch Chopped, the contestant would call it Deconstructed. I called it delicious. Even the iced tea was great. Portions are how they should be, nothing was super sized. As an aside I ate at the counter and had the good fortune of hearing the Chef place his food order with the supplier. Good ingredients all the way from start to finish. It's such a love hate relationship! Their food is amazing....the flavor combinations are wonderful. They have the second best scones I've ever had and great coffee. It's my go to place whenever I have people visiting. Lately, I've been irritated by their seating policy of keeping tables that seat four open "just in case". So basically if you are a party of two, you're not as valued? We waited once 15+ min for a table while several were open just to have a party of 4 walk in and sit after we had been waiting. I was in the area and went to Stella G's on the strength of the reviews. The restaurant can seat a decent amount of people but isn't too big. The staff was very nice and extremely accommodating. The menu offers many staple dishes as well as some interesting ones which was great for variety. The food was good but not great. If in the area I would definitely go back to try a couple of the specialty dishes that looked interesting but won't be going out of my way eat here. If you're in the area and are interested in finding a restaurant that serves breakfast late in the day the Stella G's is the place to go. There are metered parking spaces on the side of the building so parking shouldn't be an issue. Enjoy! read more

Another hometown hit: NYTimes award winning chef from Switzerland and one of the best breakfasts out in a long time! Fabulous monte cristo as well as a salmon, brie, and egg croissant with dill. Excellent service this day after Christmas too. We walked in out of the cold and the place was buzzing, which was a good sign. The executive chef greeted his regulars and made sure tables were cleared and food was promptly delivered with a smile. I've had the pleasure of discovering this place, once again, via my trusty Yelp App. You can find Stella G's right on the busy main street in Hackettstown, NJ. Don't blink, because you'll miss it. There's parking out front and a pay lot in the back. Make sure to not park in a permit space, unless you enjoy paying tickets. I absolutely love everything about this establishment. I've been here about 5 times and each time gets better and better. The menu is small, but every single thing that leaves that kitchen is pure magic on a plate. Get there early, especially on the weekend, because it gets packed. Seems that others have found out about this place and want to dine here, too. What a pain - I want it all the freshly baked scones to myself! Yes, I said it, SCONES. They always have a variety of quirky scone flavors like raspberry coconut, Irish buttermilk, cranberry tangerine, dark chocolate orange etc. Believe you me when I say - buy some! Dip these in your coffee. They are as big as my hand so cut them in half and share with a friend. Simply divine. Some other great dishes include, their breakfast polenta and risotto. Also, the skillet scrambles and breakfast burrito cannot be beat. The coffee is high quality and they keep it coming. To top things off, they play music from the 1920's and classics by Frank Sinatra. I can't even begin to understand a 4.5 for this other than there is no place else in the area for breakfast. Food was ok. Service was sketchy. My wife and I drink our coffee black with ice asked for ice 2x and it never came. The only flaw is that if you go too late for breakfast they've probably ran out of their delicious cobbler. No joke, get the cobbler!
