I enjoy shopping at used car dealerships because it's the best experience and customer service you can get, said no one, ever. I was dreading having to purchase a used car for my son, but since he earned his driver license and was graduating from High School, I thought a nice used car would be a good present for him. After talking to him about various choices (pickup truck, small SUV, Tesla, Jeep?) we decided that a used Lexus IS convertible would be a fun yet reliable car for him. I went to look for them at a few other dealerships, and they were in such horrible condition! Wasting time driving all over the county, to see that they were full of pet hair, dirt, banged up wheels, and deep scratches in the paint. About ready to give up, I saw an ad for an IS 250C at Sterling Imports LTD in Santa Ana. When I called them, Christian Gomez answered the phone. He sounded polite, and I drove over to see the car. It was in great shape, but needed to have the rear seat leather reconditioned. Once that was completed, Christian drove the car over to an auto shop of my choice, and I paid for a pre-purchase inspection. The PPI showed that the right rear tire pressure monitor had failed, but other than that the car was in great condition. Christian then took the car to get the tire pressure monitor replaced. I went to the bank, had a cashier's check made up for the full purchase price, came back to sign some paperwork, and we now own a Lexus IS 250C for my son. Working with Christian was great, since he kept me up-to-date on the status of the car the whole time. In addition to this constant contact, he also showed compassion and understanding when I had scheduling issues, and he was able to work around my needs. Not exactly something I expect from a used car salesman. I was pleasantly surprised by how well this transaction went, and while I may never actually enjoy shopping at a used car dealership, I can say that my experience with Sterling Imports LTD and with Christian Gomez was very good. read more

The employees here do not wear masks. During the test drive, the employee took off the mask and there were multiple occasions where I had to tell them to put it back on. The people in the office did not wear masks as well. I understand that having a mask on is not comfortable, but when you are dealing with customers, it's necessary to keep your guests safe. It also doesn't help that I've heard bad things from this dealership as is, despite them being in business since the 90s (according to the employee there). read more

Went in to see a Toyota 86. When I called in I spoke to Jose who at first didn't even know what the vehicle was. I asked if the car was at a set price or would they work with me on the price he said they could figure something out to come in and see the vehicle. I got there and noticed multiple scratches and a whole chunk missing from the bumper the wing was extremely scratched up when we went to talk about pricing he said that the car was in perfect condition and because of that they can't discount it. I pointed out all the issues and he said the car was listed for 25k but the brought it down to 23k when I pointed out that on multiple websites it shows they listed the car too high he brought the price down 500 dollars and demanded I run credit to get a price. I told him I wasn't interested in running credit till I had a rough idea of monthly payment he went on to tell me the rough idea of payment for the vehicle was 667 a month for 60 months. That equals more than 40k for a 23k car when I asked him to show me his math he told me I was just there to argue and told me I could leave if I didn't like the price. I left and I have to say don't ever go here. They tried to charge 40k for a car they had listed for 23k and refused to show any of the details for the numbers. These cars are kept so nice it was easy to forget I was buying a used one. No pressure, but there was always someone there to answer my questions. I recently purchased a car from Sterling Imports and I had a terrific experience. I knew exactly the make and model of the vehicle I wanted and had a budget. Sterling had a vehicle for sale online that fit my criteria. I called and spoke to Jasmine. I asked her about the vehicle, confirmed it was still on the lot, and I asked her what was the out the door price. I wanted to know if there were any hidden fees besides tax and license being added. Jasmine immediately took my number, called me back in 5 minutes and texted me in writing the out the door price. I purchased the vehicle right then by giving her a deposit and coming to see see the car the next day to test drive. The price on the particular vehicle I purchased was fair, and aligned with the Kelley Blue Book price. So I did not need to haggle. When I arrived at the lot Jasmine met me. I drove the car with my husband, it checked out, and it had a cracked side view mirror. Jasmine immediately offered to replace that which she did. I could not be happier with dealing with Sterling Imports. It was one of the most pleasant car buying experiences I have ever had. read more

If based solely on my experience with Mike (FNI) or Mark (salesman) this would be a 4/5 or 5/5. They were both extremely helpful after the purchase, Mike even more so. However how Iris is handling the contracts is illegal. She blatantly lied to me and told me that my financier requires gap insurance on the vehicle, which she reemed me for $890. She INPUT this in to the contract hoping I would not catch it and I HAD TO ASK WHAT THIS $890 FEE WAS FOR! It was a negotiation of attri-tion, I told her without question I did not want it but she claimed it was a non-negotiable term from the financier. So I caved because I had already been there all day and had to get to work. To top it off, after calling the warranty company the agent was so embarrassed for me he wouldn't tell me the MSRP on this warranty but informed me it was NOT OVER $200. So that means not only did she lie, she decided to add on additional $690 to this charge, as I confirmed with the agent it's at the discretion of the dealer to determine this price as long as its equal to or more than the price. After getting my paperwork I called my financier and they said this is not part of their contract, this is not something they've EVER heard of. I have confirmed this with at least four people at the bank. It has been like pulling teeth getting this money back. I finally got it reimbursed by the dealership, and it took almost FOUR MONTHS, after countless emails and calls between the bank, dealer and warranty company. This is unacceptable. If Iris tells you this don't believe it. Google it, this is patently false and she's lying. Walk. Practices like this is why people hate going to the dealership, and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had purchasing a vehicle. This is not just immoral, it's illegal. Truck was in decent shape but I knew what I was getting. I've had some issues with it (bad shocks, weird door issue, flat tire) however they've been minor repairs and Mike was helpful with the issues I contacted him about. I point this out as I'd like to commend how helpful he's been, while pointing out that how Iris is handling the contracts is illegal and disgusting. read more
