These guys advertise as a Sub-Zero authorized repair service. Beware-they are not. They visited my home 6 times making repairs. They didn't know what they were doing, within 6 mos I had to call a REAL Sub Zero authorized repair service to clean up the mess. They charged me $3000, they really conned me. Toward the end of their visits, they told me to add a $300 part, I told them I wouldn't pay for it if it made no difference, which it did not. I didn't pay and they accused me of ripping Them off. Before Sterling Service Group came out, I had another appliance service company (with a 4.5-star average on Yelp) try to diagnose my SubZero refrigerator. From the moment that technician arrived, I could tell he wasn't confident. He was on the phone the entire time getting instructions step-by-step -- even from SubZero directly -- and in the end, all he did was clean the coils for $240. That did not fix our problem so I called Sterling Service Group, and what a difference. Adrian came out and immediately impressed me with his professionalism and knowledge. He spent time carefully diagnosing the issue and determined the seal system needed to be rebuilt or replaced. He charged $157 for the diagnostic, which was fair considering the time he took to get it right. He had to turn the refrigerator off while trying to find the problem. A few hours after he left the refrigerator was still not cooling, I called the company, and Adrian was back within 90 minutes. He added refrigerant, and within an hour the refrigerator was cooling again. The next day, he followed up by phone to make sure everything was working and sent me an estimate for the repair. The price was higher than I'd hoped, and when I replied that it was high, they adjusted it slightly. Adrian returned as scheduled and completed the seal system rebuild this past Friday. He called again this morning to make sure everything was still working -- and it is. Sterling Service Group and Adrian went above and beyond -- knowledgeable, responsive, and customer-focused. After my experience with the other company, I really appreciate finding a service team that knows what they're doing and stands behind their work. Highly recommend. read more

I was helping my parents find someone to fix the SubZero freezer after Abt told them it was going to be 2 weeks to get the needed parts in and come Back to complete the repair. Not sure who has two weeks when a freezer is not functioning but that wasn't acceptable. My mom called sterling and couldn't believe the friendly staff told her it was her lucky day that they have someone 15 minutes away who Could look at the freezer. I had these guys out to see what a problem I had was with a Bosch dishwasher. When they left they said it was fixed and gave me some recommendations of what to do to avoid getting error codes like open a running dishwasher door to load more dishes. Fair enough. A year later and the problem kept happening. I've tried to reach back to them via e mail and phone several times and no response. The last time I used them, their prices were OUTRAGEOUS. $500 bill for 1 hour of work (parts were $40). $137 trip fee that doesn't get applied to the repair. $297 repair fee (not based on labor hours). They charged shipping and handling on parts they brought with them. ($40 worth of parts and $20 for shipping and handling!!). Ridiculous pricing!!! Don't use them! read more

Sterling has been out to us a couple of times to service our Wolf range and our sub-Zero, both over 20 years old! Every time it's a good experience and often the same technician! We recently had an issue with the fridge door light. Turns out the "other" repair company used off market parts.... Don't know if that was the problem but that was the defective one. Isaac, our tech, was pleasant and informative, and incredibly thorough. We participated in the Special that included overall Service which was worthwhile. They don't make them like this anymore . Our subzero was produced in Jul 1992, now entering its 30th year. When the refrigerator started icing up two summers ago, I figured the refrig compressor had finally given up the ghost. Sterling came out and quickly confirmed that indeed the compressor had failed. It is an expensive repair, and Sterling cautioned me that the compressor for the freezer was just as old as the one that failed and would likely soon need replacement as well. We agonized over what to do but in the end opted to make the repair, which though expensive, was a small fraction of the cost of a new Subzero. Sterling completed the work on time and on budget, and the refrigerator worked as good or better than new. Fabulous job, neat and tidy, very professional. This spring we noticed problems in the freezer. Although the ice was solid, the ice cream was quite soft and some meat that seemed frozen, had discolored and totally looked like it had spoiled. Uh oh, the freezer compressor must have failed, time for another expensive repair. We called Sterling back and I asked them to just go ahead and bring out the replacement compressor, thinking for sure that that was the problem. The service manager said, no, they can't do that, they really need to perform the diagnostics before they start ordering expensive replacement parts. I finally relented and they came out with just their normal supply of standard repair parts. The technician discovered the problem wasn;t the compressor at all! There was a hard failure on a freon valve and he recommended replacing a few other parts that, given the age, would make sense as a preventive measure. He discovered a broken seal that was part of the repair as well. The freezer compressor itself, despite its age, was still working well. So, no need to replace the compressor after all! The cost of repair turned out to be just a few hundred dollars instead of a couple thousand. I was entirely prepared to just go ahead and replace the compressor, and it was Sterling who talked me out of it. How many appliance repair shops have that kind of integrity? The Subzero is a fantastically reliable machine. But it takes skilled technicians and quality management to keep them running at their best, especially as they age. There may well come a time when I have to retire my Subzero to the scrap heap, but until then I will rely on Sterling to keep me going. I highly endorse them, not only for the quality of work, but more importantly for their honesty, integrity and fair dealing with customers. Sterling is as good as it gets. read more

Okay, this is exactly how a call for service should go. The phone was not answered by some gum smacking late teen/early twenty, non-homeowner, she asked exactly what was wrong, and scheduled a service call WITHIN 48 hours. Take note Pella ~ customers CAN be treated kindly. One person CAN do all those things. Service person calls when on the way to your home, analyzes the problem, fixes it, charges you, and is out the door. Leaves the receipt which states EXACTLY what I said the problem was rather than what the phone answering person feels like typing in. This is one of the few licensed repair services for subzero. As such, they do a very good job. It's just too bad that subzero makes it so difficult for their appliances to be serviced. But I was glad to be referred to Sterling service. They responded quickly, and after ordering the part, had it installed. Manuel from Sterling Service recently serviced my 25-year-old Sub-zero. A Sub-Zero, which, according to the technician found in the Yellow Pages that serviced the unit several years ago, needed a NEW ice maker and a NEW compressor to fix the fridge door that did not seal. (Sub-Zero's are so costly to repair, that I delayed calling a "certified" service for two years). I wish I called Sterling two years ago. Manuel quickly determined that I did NOT need a new ice maker, and did NOT need a new compressor, but rather only a door adjustment. These savings were easily close to $1,500. Manuel was extremely considerate, organized, and left the kitchen as he found it, only with a fully functioning Sub-Zero. I highly recommend Sterling. read more

Sterling was sent out by LG Appliance to do warranty work on my refrigerator. They replaced the craft ice maker. Since they replaced the unit it has not made ice. I called Sterling and was told I would have to call LG again. After talking to LG I was told to contact Sterling. When I called back I was told they no longer work on LG appliances. I guess that is good since they didn't fix it correctly in the first place. read more

First, many of us probably find it extremely difficult to find competent in-home appliance repair. It always seems to cost more than it should, hidden costs always pop up, and the service is often unreliable. I'm sure many reviews are influenced heavily by whether they show up when they said they would, and whether they can actually diagnose and fix your appliance relatively promptly. So, when our 10-year old Sub Zero SxS 'fridge conked out I found these guys on the internet. Someone courteous picked up the phone, listened well, explained how they charged in great detail, and told me they could get there the next day, and they would call me back later to schedule a time window. They did as they said, and also told me the tech would call when on the way the next morning, and that he would not show unless I answered the phone. Armed with that info, he called when they said he would, I picked up, and he showed up. He was polite and personable, answered all my question, and quickly diagnosed the issue. He had the exact parts on hand to fix both the main problem, as well as an ice-maker that had been broken for several months. He was at our house a bit more than an hour. Yes, nearly $400 for service call plus labor, plus a similar amount for two major parts is not cheap, even to fix a $12,000 appliance. But Sterling did exactly as they said they were going to do, and charged us as they said they would. They were knowledgeable and efficient. To me, there is a lot of value in that. If you can find all that for less money at some other place, good for you. Personally, I'll call these guys again. read more

We have used Sterling Service on two occasions for the repair of our Subzero that we have owned for approximately 8 years now. The first time was covered by warranty but the second time was due to frost build up in the freezer. Despite my best efforts to diagnose it and fix it, I couldn't do it. I called Sterling Service on a Monday and they had someone on-site the next day. Their technician was professional, explained everything in detail and determined that due to some misalignment on the rails, the gasket wasn't sealing. A few days later, I noticed that the ice maker wasn't working. They dispatched a technician within less than 24 hours and fixed it. Great customer service. While they're a little on the expensive side, you kind of have to expect it given the cost of the appliances they service. Well worth the money as they'll ensure it gets done right. read more

The professionalism and actual service are outstanding. On time, polite, clean and efficient. This would be a 5* review, but the pricing is absurd and prohibitive. The gasket on my freezer was torn, allowing air in and causing the freezer to ice over. It took Dave the technician 5 minutes to diagnose the problem today. He told me the part would need to be ordered and Sterling would have to come back out to install it. The part costs $97 (which itself may be a huge markup for a new freezer door gasket). But Dave's 5 minute visit cost $174. And to have them back out to reinstall it will cost $297 (including the part), which includes a $40 "return visit" fee. So for a $97 part that took 5 minutes to diagnose and probably will take 15 minutes to install, I am going to pay around $500. Nothing about that experience feels good. UPDATE: Sterling called me about 30 minutes after I posted this review and offered to waive the $40 return fee and the shipping costs built into the $297 estimate. So the total will be $50 less than I wrote above. I still view the total cost as excessive, but respect their desire to make the customer a little bit happier. read more

Came to fix my Wolf range in 2016. Now the door is broken again and they are saying that all work is 'warrantied'. Charged $174.00 just to show up. They never advised this charge when booking appointment. Tech could not provide an itemized copy of charges when he finished. Was probably frightened to show me the charges. Had to ask twice for email copy of teceiot. Charged another $200.00 on top of that for labor. Fixed solenoid valve and changed light bulbs on Subzero Model 590 and attempted to fix icemaker. Icemaker put out 8 cubes and stopped working after tech left. I ordered OEM replacement icemaker for $64 from Amazon and installed in 20 minutes myself. Icemaker works better than ever. Disappointed that Sterling did not fix icemaker despite the exorbitant "expert" charges. Way overpriced service. I u understand that you pay good mo ey for expertise but this is a joke. read more

We had a sterling technician come out to look at our sub zero refrigerator. Our ice maker was not making ice. Jordon told me that we needed a new ice maker and he would email me a quote. I received the email with the quote which included the labor. I called sterling service and agreed with the repair. I was told they would order the part and call me back to schedule new appointment for the repair. I waited for the part to come in. Once the part came in sterling called me to schedule an appointment to come repair the ice maker. It was scheduled for the 26june. The morning of the service I received a call from sterling that I was miss quoted and that they needed to order an additional part plus it would cost an additional 430.00 more. Why did it take them 3 weeks to discover their mistake and you do not call the morning of the service and advice your customer that a mistake has been made. I was told I need the 2nd piece for it to work. He told me that he would send me a new quote and I told him I need to speak to my husband. A miss quote of an additional cost of 430.00. So today I called customer service and advised them that I didn't feel that we should have to pay for a mistake that was done on there end. Especially when it took them over 3 weeks to inform me with there mistake. The representative called me back today to advice me that they can come and install the ice maker with out the additional piece that I was told that I needed. I asked her I'm sorry I was told I needed the second piece. She replied well at that time we can order you the 2nd piece and come back out to replace it. Does that make any sense. They were not willing to work with their customer. You made a mistake man up to it and take care of your customer. Both my husband and I both work in customer service and this truly is poor customer service. This is not the first time that we had sterling come out for service. However, it will be the last. They recommend to call sterling, Man came from sterling, look and within 10 minutes he said oh this is very old sub zero, 25 years old. Ice making side is rusted, fan not working and freezer not is repairable. He said now new model are very nice and may be you should replace it. cost $14,000. Left in 30 minutes and charged me $174.00. I was ready to buy new one and shopping around for all most one week. too costly now a days. Finally I called some one else to repair. When I rang them to arrange for a maintenance visit on our Subzero, I was told that the visit would be $129. Then, when the technician presented the bill, it turned out that it was $129 for the first 15 minutes and an additional $45 for each 15 minute period thereafter. Needing a Subzero refrigerator repair technician was my request and it was answered in the most professional manner. I explained my situation that a part had been ordered by a technician from another company but the part wasn't going to be available to be installed until next Monday-one week later.. As my freezer was not working & I couldn't wait a week, calling Sterling Service Group was the best thing that could have happened! Emily had a technician in the area leaving another work order, she called him and he appeared at our door in 15 minutes. A mere 45 minutes later, Dave the technician not only replaced the needed part but filled the freezer with items removed, cleaned the vents and was so positive in the process. I have a Sub Zero ice maker that needs a new spray pump. It cost $160 for them to spend 20 minutes diagnosing the problem. The service guy said he'd order the part (Friday) and it would be in on Monday and they'd call to set up an install appt. A week later, I finally called THEM. They said they hadn't even ordered the part, but would call me back with an estimate. The part was then quoted to me at $905! Installed it would be $942! I looked it up online and it sells for $349 retail. So I called Abt (who is also a Sub Zero Auth. Service Dealer) and they're going to fix it for less than HALF. Don't call Sterling. My 30-year-old subzero fridge started overheating and we first went to the Subzero Showroom located in the Mart. They recommended me to contact Sterling Service Group as all appliances in the showroom are maintained and serviced by Sterling. I contacted Sterling and Jeannie spent 15 minutes listening to my descriptions of the issues and she made some advice. She also helped me in fiding additional info on Subzero website. In 12 hours after I followed her maintenance suggestions, my fridge is back to working well. The new fridge would have cost me $13K. She was extremely kind and what I truly appreciated was how honest this company is. I asked her to send me a technician, and Jeannie said she would be happy to send me one, but she wanted me to try something first that might fix the issue. How honest is that!? Usually repair businesses are eager to send out technicians right away and charge me $200-$300 for the visit alone. Jeannie, thanks again for all your kind help.
