As a mestiza bride, serving Filipino food at my wedding was non negotiable but finding a full…read moreservice Filipino caterer in San Diego was honestly so frustrating. Every local option I came across would only drop off the food with zero staffing for cocktail hour, buffet service, bussing, or a late night snack. Then an ad for Tisoy Curryative Cuisines popped up on my Instagram feed & I am so glad it did! From the very first message, Matthew the owner was super responsive & made the whole process so easy. He got back to me within 24 hours, his pricing fit our budget perfectly, & he even reached out to our venue on his own to confirm everything was good to go before we even booked. No issues whatsoever. It also meant so much to me to hire a Filipino owned business that actually knows this food rather than some generic catering company just claiming they could pull it off. On the wedding day Tisoy completely exceeded my expectations. They served lumpia during cocktail hour in the cutest little appetizer dishes with sweet chili sauce & honestly it tasted exactly like my mom's recipe. I never got to do a tasting beforehand so I was a little nervous but the lumpia recipe was perfect. Our guests were obsessed. The buffet setup was gorgeous & their staff served at the line which was great for portion control & kept the line moving fast. The star of the night was the whole roasted lechon. It was absolutely beautiful & cooked to perfection. We did a lechon cutting photo instead of a cake cutting & it came out so good. We had guests who flew in from the Philippines & even they said they could tell it was cooked by Filipinos. That honestly says it all. The staff bussed all the tables as dinner wrapped up & then came back out at 9pm with a late night lumpia snack that everyone went crazy for. The next morning I woke up & Tisoy had already posted a reel of our wedding on Instagram. I wasn't expecting that at all and it was such a sweet & impressive touch. If you need a filipino caterer who truly shows up, knows the food, & handles every single detail from start to finish, book Tisoy Curryative Cuisines. You won't regret it! I can't wait to throw another party so I can hire them again!!!

Their displays, fruit platters, and staff were exceptional. Highly recommend having Tisoy cater your next event. I asked for water I never got it i had to go back up to the register to go ask for some. It's okay not like WOW I need to come here. It was good to try out for a one time sake. I would only come here if someone wanted to also just try it. Its a nice addition to the block we needed a burger place.

The story (unabridged): We were at the block and happened to be passing by, my wife mentioned that…read moreshe was craving a burger and that we should stop. It was just after 8:45p, and when we walked in we were initially told that they were unable to serve us for sit down - all good, I understand. My wife wasn't really interested in walking around with a burger and fries so we decided to pass. As we were walking away the guy came back and said that he would be willing to take us as the last guest - I hesitated as we honestly did not want to inconvenience them (I totally get wanting to close up nicely and get home), but he insisted so we took him up. Honestly this was very kind of them, they didn't have to. :) We grabbed a seat and I proceeded to download the app I saw on the window for the 25% off, but then the waiter told me that it was too late and I would not be able to use the app or get the discount. Now, this was a part as to why I agreed to go in when my wife initially wanted to go in, but now I feel terrible if I get everyone up and go, so I kiss the discount goodbye and plan to pay full pop. [I'm guessing that the app has hours, but I'm also sure that the waiter could have given us the 25% off - it is what it is though] I really wanted to try the shake, but given that they were cleaning up I decide that I would have to pass on that as well, there's no way I'm going to take their evening up and then ask for more, all good, I'll live, maybe next time. :P [You pay up front, which is fine, but just as an FYI] Let me just say that the music was bumping! It was hard to talk, like I was really in Ibiza at a dance party. Not bad, but certainly an artistic choice for a burger place. Probably keeps things moving fast during the day, but 140bpm at high db is a lot for an evening sit down dinner. Sounds like I'm trying to dunk on the place, not really, in fact let me say that the burgers and fries were absolutely great! Makes me wish I had pushed for the shake as if it is as good as their food I'd have been loving life! The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the burger same, with fresh ingredients and a perfect bun. A well thought out set of flavors in each variant that we ordered. :) We finished up, I made sure to thank them all for being as gracious as they were, and we parted ways. In all, their food offerings are top notch! Their business model seems to be geared toward catering, and the pop-up is a way to get eyes and mouths on their offering. A smart play for sure, and I took a card as I've no doubt that they would cater a phenomenal product to your office party! [and I bet that McConnell's shake is bomb!] That said, there's still bugs to be worked out on storefront side. Nothing show stopping, but things that would enhance the customer experience and certainly increase their revenue opportunities. The main one being their business hours, although this may not be something they get much control over..? I'm not sure if The Outlets will let them stay open past 9pm, but it's certainly hurting their business as I saw no less than six parties come in after us hoping to grab a bite and sadly be turned away. Folk like to do their shopping and then grab a bite and relax as things wind down, this is a known quantity. If the hours are set by the owner then they should really look at extending them out - as a business owner myself I know the pain of such an opportunity cost. If this is the landlord forcing this then I hope they can find a place that lets them set less constrictive hours. The app and the discount: This kinda hurt, not gonna lie. I totally get the ease and convenience from the proprietors part to have the app, and I applaud the offer of 25% off to get folks to download and adopt the idea/workflow as it's potential for efficiency cannot be argued. That said, there will be deltas, similar to my situation, where there should be a 25% off button that the waiter can use in such situations. I did almost walk, but their overall gracious customer service kept me there, and I'm glad it did as the food -was- on point! Otherwise they're gonna kill it, maybe tone down the music a bit, that was kinda wild, but I have high hopes that they will be successful - if I'm in the area I'll be back as my mind is still on that shake. :P

A friend put this ski-lodge Christmas pop-up on my radar, and after seeing all the adorable videos…read moreand photos, we came to check it out around 7pm on a Thursday and getting a table was easy. Within minutes of walking in, a group of 8 lined up for a ski shot at the bar: snow machine blasting, everyone cheering, so much fun and yes, I filmed it for them. This place looks even better in-person than online, I did not feel catfished by the online posts I saw of it. The whole place is a vibe. The decor hits festive and fun without sliding into tacky. Even though it's technically outdoors, the heaters are no joke, you could show up in a skirt and t-shirt and be perfectly comfortable. Whoever is in charge of this heating situation, you nailed it! Junior was our bartender and he was fantastic, friendly, and quick. Now, the drinks: The Bigfoot is basically a dessert disguised as a cocktail. It comes topped with this warm, doughnut-like block drizzled in chocolate. Easily my favorite of the night. The Snow Bunny leans lighter, not too sweet, and the cute little "ears" it comes with are such a fun touch. We also tried the Not-So Shirley Temple, and I slipped in a glass of red wine between all the festive drinks. For food, we ordered the tosti, mushroom bisque, and fries, and everything was good. My only gripe: they close at 10pm, which feels early for a place this fun. Wish they kept the party going later because the energy here deserves more runway but Graceland (speakeasy inside HQ gastropub) is just 1 min walk around the corner, def recommend going there to keep the party going for another hour! Their Xmas decor is fire. Overall, a festive, cozy, high-spirited stop. Absolutely worth coming back, especially for another Bigfoot.

I'll start off with the parking. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center if you get there early enough. The decor was on par with the theme. The place is not big but every inch of this place was decorated. Definitely gave a Halloween vibe. My husband and I wanted to try the food. At the entrance I was told to ask a waitress about a table. Some were reserved already so we waited a little while. Paola hooked us up with a table about 10 minutes later. We ordered our food and some drinks and within 10 minutes we were eating. We ordered some wings a burger and Cajun fries. Everything was delicious and although the drinks are kind of pricey they were delicious. Paola kept checking in on us and once we were ready to close the tab, she got us a high top table by the area where people were dancing. She still would check in on us from time to time and even brought us some water. So shout out to her! The dj played good music and the whole place was vibing. Everyone was having a good time. They played music that made me reminisce of my high school days as well as current music. The only thing I was not to fond of was the bathroom. Only two stalls for the women's restroom and a bathroom for either gender. At times the line would be long. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves very much and would definitely go back next year if they do it again.

But otherwise, I hope they bring back more pop-ups (hinting for Xmas theme, guys???)
