Ummmm Maybe rinse the beans a few times

Save your money. It was a Sunday evening and we walked right into a scene. The hostess was beating up verbally on the bartender for having closed one section of the outdoor bar. He took it, and was not combative, but she just kept hammering at him while the current customers looked horrified and those of us coming in were not sure what to do. I thought she was going to go right back behind the bar and smack him. The only reason we stayed is this lovely gay couple basically told us they had no clue what was happening but to come sit by them. When I said we should leave they said nothing else was open, which is why they were there. I will never forget this place because it was our very first stop in Greenville and man, I am glad I did not judge the city based on this place/situation. Bartender (understandably distracted) took our order 3 times. Fourth time it stuck. Drinks were mid. Chop salad was a big spoonful of cold garbanzo beans soaking in Italian dressing glop on some lettuce. The whole thing would have been tragic but we made new friends and they told us where to eat!

Very spacious and open restaurant downtown Greenville. Caitlyn W and her trainee Sophie were amazing! There's a brunch bar with chicken salad, pita bread (seasoned and so good), pasta salad (dry), and various pastries, including a very rich and delectable brownie. Oysters were large and juicy. Ordered the country breakfast with eggs scrambled just the way I like, chicken sausage made in house with delicious herbs, cheesy stone ground grits, nicely fried potato chunks, and a biscuit that was hard at the top but fluffy inside. The espresso martini is on draft and pretty potent ha. Mimosas are the best price I've seen.

Great location, easy parking, tons of tables, fun vibe. The menu seems to change seasonally and they have options for everyone. We had a large party and they accommodated easily with two servers for the whole group. The atmosphere is great, I love the decor and the polished-casual vibe. The bar is so cool (that sliding ladder is what dreams are made of), lots of TVs to watch the game without messing up the chic decor. Indoor and outdoor seating and the bar opens up to the outdoors. The staff is very knowledgeable about their offerings, particularly the tequila. However, a dirty martini is maybe not the bartender's specialty. I was asked if I wanted it dirty, extra dirty, or "nasty." I said just a little bit dirty. It came "nasty." Womp womp. But they do have blue cheese olives, which is a huge plus! The oysters are delicious. Our group got 4 dozen. However, on one of the trays, almost all the ice was melted by the time it reached our table. Also both times I've been, they forget to put little spoons in the sauces that come with the oysters, but they never forget the crackers! For the rest of our meal, I got the shrimp and grits, my partner got the tuna poke bowl, and we split a Caesar salad. My shrimp and grits were delicious, tons of shrimp, nice presentation. Tuna poke bowl was good and the soy sauce was a nice addition. I love a Caesar salad, and the flavors on this one were great, though it was served on a very warm plate which was weird for a salad. Overall, STIR has so much going for it. I really, really want to love this restaurant, but every time I go it's missed the mark on some small but important things. It's new so I think this is just one of those where you've got to keep trying to work out the kinks. Hopefully they'll get there! I'm rooting for you!

All categories 10/10! Very lively ambience, service exceptional and attentive and food tasty! I would specify next time that I like food served hot. We were there for brunch and potatoes as tasty as they were would have been tastier still if they were hot Cocktails were crafted with care and added to the experience!!! Will be back again!!!

First time here tonight with Friends and Family. I just have to tell you and everyone, if you haven't been to STIR yet you need to go. It's a new restaurant downtown Greenville across from Spring Street garage and oh my gosh the restaurant is beautiful inside and outside. The staff is wonderful. The food is absolutely delicious. I had ordered the grilled salmon best piece of salmon I have ever put in my mouth. It was absolutely phenomenal. My daughter had gotten the tuna it was so beautiful, it looked almost like a steak and it was delicious. We also had the steamed oysters, delicious fresh . Not hard or soggy, just perfect. My husband had the mahi mahi bowl, he was absolutely floored it taste so good my friend got the season special crab she said it was amazing not dry , just perfect . Anyway everything was delicious. Everything looked scrumptious. It was definitely spot on hands-down. This is probably one of the best restaurants in Greenville that has the most scrumptious and delectable foods ever. I recommend this to everybody. Their prices are reasonable for what you get the atmosphere is awesome. Kids are welcome there. There's inside seating outside seating they have outside seating with little patio fire pit areas. We were told to definitely taste the cheesecake. OMG it's to die for best cheesecake I've ever had, creamy very not rich just perfect. STIR it's not just an ordinary restaurant where people say oh the food was good. Oh this is ok and that is OK. No this restaurant actually make food that looks amazing , it also tastes phenomenal! And to be no anywhere near the ocean. Their seafood dinners are amazing. To be quite honest, I was amazed at this place. New restaurants come and go in Greenville. Everybody tries them but there's not a place like this in a long time. I have to say their food taste a lot better than Hall chophouse or Soby's . STIR is where it's at!! We enjoyed our dinner so much. We will definitely be back. Everything was outstanding for me. I'll give you five stars , 10 stars. It was so good and everything was perfect. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Stir staff. We will definitely be back!

The fries were like a 5 out of 10. Stuck together, nothing spectacular compared to what We have had in the past. Shrimp and grits 8 out off 10 ( a tad bit salty ) and lobster Mac 8-10, not really creamy. Service was fast and polite and the atmosphere was calm ( not a lot of people here on a Wednesday night ‍

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our request to sit near the TV so we could watch the World Cup. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better! Plus, the food was incredible. Highly recommend the sticky pineapple rice!

Came here with fellow colleagues for a dinner when they first opened and to say it was an experience would be one word. First, once we were sat they seemed confused on who was supposed to serve the table. Multiple servers stopped by and finally we seemed to settle on one. Now, we were given a rundown of all the things that make this place special including their ice. Yup, the ice. Cool, let's order this drink. Ten minutes later, sorry we can't make that drink we are out of this ingredient. Ok, how bout this one. Yeah, can't do that one either. Once we had several misfires on drinks we finally had some in hand to toast a long day of work. Next up, food! Our waiter recommended several dishes and we largely chose several from his recommendations. A few minutes later, he comes back. Sorry we are out of this and this. Proposes some ways to twist the dish based on kitchen feedback. Nobody was interested. Back to second choices. Those go in and, we wait. Finally the apps are out. Except one, it never shows. We place our primary order and similar story, they were out of a couple ingredients for two selections. We wait now, for ages. Needless to say, we were there for 2.5 hours and we didn't even have dessert. Fortunately we had plenty to talk about. Overall, the dishes were good, nothing amazing, nothing overly disappointing. The drinks were good, but felt a bit overpriced. The service and being 86/out of so many important items to function with a full menu was a clear sign they had frowning pains to work through. This place has potential but when we visited it clearly wasn't quite there yet. Check it out , YMMV!!!

Lobster and shrimp Mac n cheese - amazing!

Nice atmosphere, great food quality and attentive service. Our servers have been great and very polite. The shrimp and grits are fantastic and the portion is nice. The lobster and shrimp Mac n cheese was amazing and good portion. The Halibut piccata was something new for us, and it was excellent. So far, we are impressed with the consistency here.

TLDR: Decent service. Great appetizers. Subpar entrees. Super sweet cocktails - would recommend ordering beer, wine, or basic drinks like vodka soda. Would come again solely for the atmosphere - great indoor/outdoor bar with a lot of TVs. Came here on a busy Saturday evening. The bar is huge so there were plenty of seats available. If I could give this place 5 stars solely because of the raw chef I would! He welcomed us as soon as we sat down, he was super friendly and helped us navigate the menu. Unfortunately, both of our meals fell short of satisfactory. However, the atmosphere was spectacular!! I ordered the Salmon, medium well. It looks incredible in the picture but the inside was cooked rare. The outside edges were edible. It was a wrap once I bit into a piece of bone. As a picky eater, all of this freaked me out and I was no longer interested in the dish. The person I was with ordered the chicken piccata (not pictured). One important note is that her chicken piccata was breaded (fried?) which we both found to be a bit odd, she did not enjoy it. However, our whipped feta appetizer and parm fries were incredible!! Would come back here just for the atmosphere and a quick bite, not for dinner.

    Oysters Rockefeller

My first visit to Stir was at the Charlotte location where I tried only the Matcha Green Tea Cheesecake. It was one of the best desserts I've eaten this year. Therefore, I was excited when my sister chose to eat at the Greenville location for her birthday. Just like the Charlotte location, the restaurant was clean, stylish and modern. I started off with the Hemingway Daiquiri which was enjoyable, but the Mockstar Martini is what I truly fell in love with. It had a next level type of sweetness to it. In terms of food, I tried their Oysters Rockefeller, which was fresh, flavorful, and super tasty. My entree was the Lobster and Shrimp White Cheddar Mac and Cheese- immaculate. There was a good amount of lobster and shrimp while the dish was well-seasoned. However, what made the evening super dynamic was the level of service we received from Baylor. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu as well as entertaining. She made our visit memorable.

It is found tucked behind the building with only a small, letter-sized paper sign marking the entrance. No flashy signage, no obvious storefront, which adds to the appeal if you're into that kind of hunt. Once inside, the space is dimly lit and small, which makes for a genuinely intimate setting. I'd say it's good for a quieter, more conversational vibe rather than a loud night out. We went with the bartender's choice: pick a base liquor, then two words to describe what you're after. I went with vodka and "slightly sweet, refreshing," for $18. The bartender nailed the brief but it wasn't a drink I'd think about again or specifically order by name. Solid execution, forgettable flavor. Service was the real standout. Our bartender was excellent at walking us through the concept and translating vague requests into something that actually worked. That, plus the atmosphere, is enough to bring me back to see what else is on the menu since we made it there just in time for last call so I ended up only having one drink.
