We had the absolute best time at Stir! We were in town for my friend's birthday and this was one of many places we tried and by far my favorite of the trip. The oysters were on point (we got the dozen hose raw and char broiled) and I loved the mahi tacos. Drinks were delish as well. Our server, Baylor, was so sweet and incredibly knowledgeable. She gave us all the right recommendations and made the experience complete by singing happy birthday with us at the end of the meal. The ambiance was also super nice and we enjoyed the patio seating. Walked a good ways to get to Stir. It's an attractive place w a nice bar. Ordered the lobster cake entree, which I was told is bigger cakes than the appetizer lobster cake. It came out (see pic) and I was taken aback how small the cakes were. That said. the flavor was on point and I enjoyed them. For $34, I expect better sides. The asparagus was well prepared and tasty.. Their just wasn't much of it. The side salad is useless and tasteless. Wine was good. Beer selection meh, but draft prices were good. Friday night in Greenville, we were looking for a lively spot with a fun atmosphere and decided to finally give Stir a try after passing by it several times. At first glance, it seemed like the perfect choice -- great indoor/outdoor bar setup, energetic vibe, and a busy crowd that made it feel promising. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. While the food presentation looked nice, the actual food was incredibly disappointing. Service was also very slow, and we overheard a staff member mention that the kitchen is too small and can only handle a limited number of orders at a time, which seemed to explain the delays. We ordered a burger and fries, requesting no sauce -- just cheese -- but it came out fully loaded anyway, and the flavor was just odd. I also ordered the spring trio, which included six oysters. They were the grittiest oysters I've ever had, completely flavorless, and the only appealing part was the toppings they used to try to cover them up. The sesame steak bowl looked great when it arrived, but honestly, it was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. Betsy didn't just serve our table she served looks. ran the whole experience like a seasoned pro with main-character energy. Friendly, fast, funny, and somehow always one step ahead before we even asked for anything. Service was an easy 10/10. The food? Unreal. I would trust this kitchen with major life decisions. We had some really good food here. The made from scratch kitchen was on point with my Steak Frites and my wife's lobster and shrimp Mac and cheese. The only criticism is it needs a little more lobster in it. The drinks were delicious as well. I had a whiskey bramble and my wife had the porn star martini. Our waiter was very good. He was attentive but not overbearing. We had a dozen oysters on the half shell (we got the last dozen) they were a little on small side. Me and my wife dined for for a Saturday brunch. The staff is wonderful, the hosts were sweet and courteous, our server was friendly and attentive, a different server ran our food to our table and she was super sweet. The restaurant itself is cute and welcoming while still feeling upscale. It walks the fine line of being casual but not too casual beautifully. My wife had the coffee and it was coffee, nothing too crazy. I had the pineapple mimosa and it was good, but I've never met a mimosa that I didn't like. We got the deviled eggs, and they were decent (we definitely had our favorites...the pickle and avocado). My wife had the country breakfast with fruit. she really enjoyed the fruit. She compared the eggs and bacon to hotel style brunch. The biscuits are beautiful and delicious. I ordered the shrimp and crab Benedict and added a side of asparagus. The shrimp is phenomenal and I never love fried shrimp, but this is the one exception. The potatoes are sub par. THE ASPARAGUS THOUGH!!!! I recommend getting it as your side for every meal. Well, I did not see the health score until after I visited (health score is 88/100) as of August 8, 2025. My honest review: I really enjoyed my overall experience. What could IMPROVE: 1. The appearance of the hostesses- remember they are the first people representing your business that people see! You should require some uniformity. 2. The hostess table- too many people too much talking- a lot going on- seems unorganized. 3. Require guest be offered a straw, by the time I requested a straw and received it, I was dehydrated () 4. I know this is off season for Oysters ( my visit was in August) just remind guest, because the oysters I had were in the tiny era! What I ENJOYED: 1. Cocktails. I had the STIR Old Fashioned and a Whisky Cocktail ("A vibrant fusion of whiskey, blackberry essence and citrus notes, offers a refreshing whiskey cocktail.") Both cocktails were delicious. 2. The blackened fish Tacos- delicious 3. The Cheeseburger Egg Rolls- delicious - these were order by my niece who joined me for "sip and dine". The location is great, the drink menu is great, the food is tasty, and I've always had great service. But I think it's worth saying that every time I've been (and I've been multiple times since it opened) that the food always takes an abnormally long time to come out, regardless of the group size. Had a great lunch here with my team yesterday. The menu is wide and varied and their cocktail menu offers a lot, as well. I had the grilled chicken sandwich which did not disappoint. The roasted oysters were cold, it took1 hour and 20 mins to get out appetizers and then 25 mins for the dinner plates, My filet had zero flavor. I mean zero. Three of us had dinner. We had 3 entrees. The lobster, shrimp mac n cheese was excellent but keep in mind it's creamy. The grilled salmon which was one of the smaller ( but tasty) pieces of salmon I'd seen in a while (see photo) and assorted very salty veggies. plenty of room for improvements. Maybe charge a higher price and give a normal size fish and I don't understand all the salt on veggies. The last was the tuna poke bowl. I heard a lot of things before my visits, with the most prevalent being (1) poor service/food, and (2) overpriced. It's def not uncommon for new restaurants in GVL to have poor service for quite a while. Hell... Juniper's service was still brutal last visit! Have visited twice to date; (1) Sunday Brunch, and (2) drinks at the bar with friends. Bartenders are ok to good, table service sucked. Food... ok, bordering bad. My Rating of 3 is generous (actual would be 2.5/5), but should not be surprising for a new place with VERY ambitious expectations! It's a very large place, so... large staff, large kitchen. That's a ton of training and coordination! I will come back and I urge others to patronize Stir! It's a beautiful space, awesome bar, terrific outside seating... it WILL GET BETTER! I had the center cut steak which was excellent and tasty. Not sure why they served overcooked fried potatoes with that level of cut. Broccolini was also tasty but undercooked. My partner's center cut was chewy and only half was edible. The manager was great about it and they took good care of us. We had an excellent experience ~ starting with the service by Sofi who was pleasant, informative, efficient, knowledgeable, of menu and fun too. She did 2 ice cube sphere demonstrations for our group of 4. See attached pictures of the process! They were mesmerizing and so unique. Pictured provided of some of our choices ~ honestly every dish was spot on and we are particular about our service and food presentation, taste, etc. Love their Gin & Tonic with homemade tonic. Fish Tacos (4) for apps were a perfect start. We sat outside by request which was lovely except for the cars/trucks that have taken to revving loudly and ruining the beauty and peaceful nature of GVL. Police need to enforce the noise ordinance. This was one of the worst experiences I have had in Greenville. The service was so slow! It took forever to get each drink we ordered. Maybe 20 minutes per drink. The largest issue was our dinner. After waiting for over an hour the manager came to our table and said our ticket was lost and they would give us free dessert for our trouble. We waited another 20 minutes and the food finally came. My steak was supposed to be medium and was beyond well done. I chocked the flavorless dry meat down because I did not want to wait another hour. The food was all bland and not worth the price. After we ate we ordered our "free" chocolate cake. After waiting 30 minutes and still no cake, we told the waiter forget about it and just give us the check. No offer of to go dessert, no discount. No follow up from the manager. I will never ever go back to this place. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cost. So many better places in Greenville. Asked to sub grits for the mushrooms ... still got the mushrooms but no potatoes that were listed on the menu. My mother had the wedge salad, asked for no onions. Salad came out with onions. The crab cakes were very thick and the sauce they were served with compliments them so well. The charcuterie board has a great mix of sweet & salty. We tried Stir a month ago so this review is a bit late. We were excited for oysters and their specialty ice for cocktails. Unfortunately we did not enjoy the experience and therefore do not recommend Stir (there are other superior options if you're wanting oysters in downtown Greenville: Jones, Jianna). The ambience is sports bar meets Cheesecake Factory. The kitchen is open (which can be fun - think CAMP) but betrays that this operation is about mass production. That unfortunately translates into food quality. Most of our food came out cold, tacos were soggy, and one of our oysters was bad. We hope that some of this works itself out as the kitchen gets experience but we worry that the size of the operation is not going to allow for that attention to detail in the food prep. The management was very classy and did comp the entire oyster tray. Our final disappointment was the "specialty" ice. They do have different varieties of ice but we would not describe it as specialty. Again it is mass produced novelty ice but anything mass produced has the tendency to lose quality. read more

Ordered the halibut which was cold and way overcooked when it arrived. Halibut, when prepared properly, is soft and malty. This was tough, dry, and chewy, and for this to be a piccata, there was zero hint of lemon and not more than three to five capers to be found. It was served with farro, which was mixed with root vegetables. Those amounted amounted to thinly sliced carrots and onions. The onions were so burned that they were little black shreds tucked under the main entree and buried in the farro. We were dining with friends I hadn't seen in years. Their food looked no better. His lobster mac and cheese looked congealed from sitting under the heat lamp, and her crispy mahi bowl looked like a mess with the same farro I had. My husband had stuffed flounder, which also looked like it had died under the heat lamp. He said his asparagus was good...for $40. The whipped feta appetizer we had was good, and our server Cody was fine. Both my husband and friend ordered a beer they had advertised but didn't actually have, and there was no suitable replacement for the style of it. For all the places one can eat in Greenville, they need to step it up. First and last time here. read more
