It's Friday night and we stop here for dinner while out shopping at the Legends. First time here. Our wait time is about 10 minutes. Not too bad on a Friday night during dinner time. We got seated at a Hibachi table with some other people. First they served us miso soup, salad and then the cook came out and prepare our food in front of us. Service was good and fast. The ambiance of the place is casual.

I really don't understand the bad reviews lol we went today and had a great hibachi experience. The food was delicious, I got extra fried rice and had leftovers to enjoy at home. The server was super attentive and kind. I've been here multiple times throughout the years and honestly, I won't stop coming! Thank you to the hard workers at Stix that make the restaurant amazing.

The food was really good and they accommodated our party of 7 very well! The environment was perfect for a date night with great low lighting. The only thing lacking was true showmanship. I'm sure that was partly our fault though since our group was catching up with one another & having a lot of side conversations.

Sushi was good, hibachi had zero taste. Service was very good but food needs to improve.

Overpriced and food is mediocre at best. We were squeezed into a table with a bunch of other people.

Service is good, miso soup pretty good, sushi ugh not very robust. Oh well. Find another place for your sushi fix.

Great place, always my go-to for hibachi. It gets a little crowded at times but overall service goes smooth.

Every detail feels intentional, from the plating and presentation to the atmosphere itself. As someone who appreciates design, Noka absolutely delivers. Food-wise, there were two undeniable stars of the night: * Wagyu Nigiri (100/10) - One of the best bites I've ever had. Rich, buttery, perfectly balanced, and worth ordering every single time. * Crab Campanelli (11/10) - Absolutely incredible. Comfort food elevated to fine dining quality. If I came back tomorrow, I'd order this again without hesitation. Other highlights: * Filet (10/10) - Beautifully cooked, incredibly flavorful, and paired with perfectly prepared bok choy. Everything on the plate felt intentional. * Night Market Wings (8.5/10) - The quality was excellent. The sweet heat profile just wasn't exactly my personal preference, but that's purely subjective. If you enjoy spicy food with a lingering, slightly numbing heat, you'll probably love these. * Shrimp Tempura Roll (8/10) - Very good and executed well. * Tuna Roll (7/10) - Good, but it was the least memorable item compared to some of the standout dishes we ordered. Noka excels at creating a complete dining experience. Beautiful atmosphere, thoughtful presentation, excellent service, and several dishes that genuinely surprised us. For a special occasion, date night, or anyone looking for an elevated dining experience in Kansas City, it's absolutely worth a visit.

It has that perfect mix of rustic and modern, with a warm and elevated feel that makes you want to stay and enjoy the whole experience. The service stood out just as much as the food. The servers were on point, gave great recommendations, and even suggested places for us to check out after dinner. That kind of attention and hospitality goes a long way. The food was unreal. The scallops and the wagyu nigiri was next level. We ended up ordering multiple rounds of both because it was that good. NOKA is not just a place to eat, it is an experience. Definitely a spot I would go back to and recommend to anyone in Kansas City.

Then we sat down at the teppanyaki table, and things went south faster than a dropped egg. Our server was solid, but the "chef" was a total trainwreck. It felt like we were an inconvenience to his schedule. He just rushed through the motions with zero engagement, like he was checking off a grocery list instead of actually cooking for people. The "Highlights" (and I use that term loosely): The Timing: I ordered the steak and scallops. He finished my steak before the rice even hit the grill. My cow just sat there getting cold while we watched him "work." The Culinary Wisdom: When one of us asked if the beef was a strip or a ribeye, he literally just said, "It's steak." Cool. Glad we cleared that up. The Cross-Contamination Special: We had a vegetarian in the group. He proceeded to cook her tofu directly in the steak juice. Truly a "chef's kiss" moment if you hate your customers. The Doneness (or lack thereof): The salmon was basically still swimming (raw), and the scallops were charred and tasted like fire and brimstone. The Mussels: I grabbed a side of green mussels. They were... fine? I've had much better elsewhere in town, but they were the Olympic gold medalists of my meal by default. The Silver Lining? The Sake. It came in a take-home glass, was incredibly easy to drink, and was 100% necessary to get through the rest of the experience. I can't speak for the sushi, but if it's handled with the same "I don't want to be here" energy as the teppanyaki, I'd stay far, far away. Two stars only because the hostess was nice and the Sake did its job.
