Beautiful interior! Good food, creative and fun combinations. The bakery has absolutely delicious pastries, too - highly recommend getting an assortment to try. What wasn't so pleasant was the loud solo guitarist who was playing during dinner. He was talented with a nice song selection, but it's aggravating to have music be so loud that you can't hear your dining companions' conversation. It should be background music to complement your dining experience. It definitely was not the best dining atmosphere in that respect. We ended up not getting dessert at our table in the restaurant and instead getting it on the other side of the restaurant so we could actually have a conversation. Something to consider, Sto Lat. We went here on a date night. Note we only got drinks because we didn't have reservations and the place was packed. *I would like to come back and try the food BUT the drink prices make me nervous. I got simple gin&tonic with lime. My husband an old fashion, which he was disappointed in. The poor wasn't great and really was more ice and fruit than alcohol. Each drink was $11 dollar a piece. Admittedly we were sticker shocked. We have lived in big cities and don't mind pay $ for a good drink or portion - ours were neither. We just didn't expect such high drink prices in Buffalo, where the average mixed drink price is closer to $7/8 a drink. The ambiance was great. Loved the cute bakery and hours. I was going to give Sto Lat three stars, however, I had to bump it down to one. I went with one other person on a Friday night. The restaurant wasn't extremely busy and we were seated right away. I don't drink and I was with someone underage, and I feel that as soon as we didn't order any alcohol (we were asked three times) we were ignored. We were seated at 6, had our order taken at 6:20, and our food came out at 7:30. I had pierogis and my friend had a sandwich made with French toast and ham. We then had crème brûlée for dessert. We both enjoyed our food, and we left the restaurant around 8:15. I can forgive slow service if the food is worth it, and it was! Until my friend began throwing up in the middle of the night. Food poisoning. Sto Lat was the only thing she ate that day, so it couldn't have been anything else. I paid in cash, or else I'd be asking for a refund. We won't be returning. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since it first opened. Today was the day. I dropped my Mom at the door to get us a table and she got us a spot on the patio. We sat a couple minutes and then I went in for some menus. Not sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves. We got our drinks and ordered pretty quickly. We started with the Fried Pickles, which were good, but a little too thick in my opinion. The accompanying dill sauce was tasty, but overpowered by the thick tangy pickle. Now that I think about it they were supposed to be truffle fried and I didn't taste truffle at all. For entrees my Mom went with the paczki burger, but on a regular bun instead of the paczki. She was very pleased with her burger. I had the spicy schnitzel sandwich which consisted of a thin crispy chicken cutlet with pickles, thin and crispy fried jalapeños, red onion, cheese, mushroom and a spicy aoli. I omitted the tomatoes. The first bite of chicken cutlet was amazing! So light and crispy! My second bite was not as good for me personally. That was when I got to the mushroom, which I felt to be overpowering. This is odd because I normally like mushroom. I had to scrape them off and in turn lost my cheese because they were melted together. WHEN I order this again I'll just omit the mushrooms too. I say WHEN, because this was so delicious I WILL order it again! The thin fried jalapeños were so delicious I would order a side of them. I would maybe even omit the pickles on this sandwich and order extra jalapeño, they were that tasty! The fries were almost matchstick cut, crispy and almost perfectly seasoned if maybe a little salty. I LOVE thin crispy fries! So this was a five star review in the making! This is when that fifth star fell off...I saw our waitress leave. She didn't say goodbye or ask if we wanted our check or even mention anyone else would be taking over. She was just gone. I finished my water and was super thirsty so I ran to the bar for a refill. We asked an older man busing tables for our waitress and he said "She left". Ummmm ok can we get our check? The bartender came out and gave it to us, but I still felt there was no transition. I am more than empathetic to the staffing shortage in the service industry, but a little bit of courtesy would have went a long way in this situation. Just some context: I went their with my friends for my 21st birthday. I'm a child of two very polish parents who sent their child to attend Polish school for a decade. I am as Polish as it gets in Buffalo. I also worked at a Polish deli with a customer base that barely spoke polish. So, I know how to cook REAL good Polish food. So maybe let's start off with the positives: The food came very quick, and the staff is very nice. They have a good selection of vodkas and beers. Their Polish mule is actually a very cute remix on the Russian mule. The ambiance and music are quite nice. A couple appetizers on the menu were very good. The negatives: The food is not necessarily bad, but the flavor choices are odd. I tried the Buffalo Pierogi, and it's just not it. We ordered some other food that we were really excited to eat, but couldn't take more than a couple bites. It was also disappointing to find out they didn't actually serve any Polish food. Bummer. I was a little bit skeptical to go to StoLat because of its location, but I am so glad me and my husband ended up going there for dinner. I'm Eastern European and I grew up eating homemade golumpki. Here's why I'd recommend it: 1. Because this place is in the former mall - parking is not an issue at all. 2. Outside patio was very nice to my surprise, nice esthetics and design 3. Great interior as well - perfect place for a business lunch as well as for a date night or a family gathering 4. Great food. I enjoyed all Polish inspired food. Even if you are not into traditional pierogis - you will find other interesting items like duck or fish entrees. 5. Great service. Lastly, the kicker is there's a bakery right there so if your dinner isn't too late you can grab a latte with some amazing cookies and enjoy it at your table. Sto Lat Bar is a nice casual/upscale restaurant and bar located inside the former Sears store at Eastern Hills Mall. The atmosphere was energetic and somewhat loud but not overwhelmingly so. It does look quite nice and modern. In the end, the service was quite good, although it took a little while to get a waitress at first, but once she arrived she was great. They don't hand out normal menus, but instead they want you to mess around with your phone to get the menu. I can't stand that, and yes I am over 50. My wife left her phone at home and my small phone is difficult to read. But they did graciously provide us with legitimate printed menus when requested. If they had not done that, I would have deducted a star. But negative out of the way, the rest of our experience was entirely enjoyable. I ordered panko crusted cod and my wife ordered the "Kotelty Burger" which is topped with Swiss cheese, pickled beets and mushrooms. The burger was outstanding, but the fries could have been hotter. My cod was nicely crunchy and perfectly executed with a mushroom sauce and a small side of rice. Prices were fair for the quality. We hope to try the Sunday brunch sometime. read more

Finally made it here after wanting to try it since pre-COVID time. My father is polish so we have had a fair amount of polish food in our life. We came for lunch on a Tuesday, and were able to find a table right away although it did get busier. The server/bartender was very nice even though she was the only waitress for the lunch rush and clearly busy. We had the truffle fried pickles and zapiekanka- both delicious! The fried pickles were crispy and the dill sauce was a great pairing. The zapiekanka was so large- definitely could serve a party of 5 or 6. A well deserved 5 star restaurant! Everything from food and drink to vibe and service were beyond my expectation. I ordered a polish platter (taste of Poland) which had a little bit of everything! It was the first time for me trying a polish food and I did enjoy the experience. Went there on a Wednesday night and i am glad we had a reservation because it was pretty much booked. A group of us yelpers decided to get our polish cuisine groove on and try out this new restaurant next to the Eastern Hills mall. We arrived in between lunch and dinner hours, so the service was kind of confusing . Once we were shown to a table, we were told we can either order from Simply Pierogi (cafeteria style) or order off the lunch Sto Lat Bar menu. We did order a round of polish beer, (Tyskie for me, Zywiec for them) it really hit the spot. One of us chose to go to Simply Pierogi, while my friend , Khristina and I ordered off the menu. I knew right away I wanted the Spicy Schnitzel Sandwich while she ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad. It took a bit to get our food, but once we did, I was very pleased. The chicken schnitzel was crispy yet juicy, sandwich was flavorful and spicy but not overwhelmingly so. My dining companions had mixed feelings about this place, a Pierogi plate was ordered from Simply Pierogi and while the schnitzel was stellar, the pierogis lacked something and were very small. (she is from Poland so she knows Pierogi!) The space is kind of confusing for someone who is not sure if they want a dine in or takeout experience. But I gave this place 4 stars because I see potential of this being a great place to stop for Polish Fusion food. I'll stop in again for dinner when it is a bit calmer. They had very creative drinks the bflo refresher was very good. They have a great atmosphere and nice decor. They staff was very busy but they made sure we had what we needed. We couldn't decide on appetizers so we got the 716-ski bites they were crispy and tangy from the Buffalo sauce a great mix. The charcuterie board had so many good things on it. The truffle fried pickles were a thick slice and nice flavored breading. Then it was the hard part of narrowing down the dinner menu. The pulled pork sandwich and burger were great large portions and very tasty. The truffle fries were crispy and soft all in one. This is my first ever yelp review and it's sadly because of the awful experience my family and I had on Mother's Day Brunch. $60 per person for a sad example of a brunch buffet is an utter disgrace - basic scrambled eggs, cold waffles and frozen French toast among the six total items they offered as brunch. We called earlier in the week for the menu because the online description was sparse and were told 'menu still not finished yet'. Unfinished indeed! Was pretty pricey I thought but being part of the mall with rent and the price of things nowadays I guess it's understandable.... After getting ready to leave I seen they had a counter where you could of ordered all Polish lunch dishes at reasonable prices ... Went the other week for my first visit to Sto Lat Bar with a friend for dinner. We were running behind 15 minutes but they were more than willing to still accommodate our reservations. Everything was spaced out to a degree where I felt comfortable with the current "2020 situation." We were seated at a small clean table. Usually small tables feel uncomfortable for me as there is never any space, but these ones seemed like just enough. Our chairs were comfortable as well, which is great considering there are no booth options to know that you won't walk out saying your bum is killing you. Our waitress was very personable and took care of us right away. She answered all of our questions, came by to check on us an appropriate amount of times (didn't feel ignored and also didn't feel overbearing), came to the table when she saw our drinks running low, and also to make sure the empty plates were taken right away and not sitting for a century. I had to of course start by trying the pickle soup. I don't know what I was expecting from pickle soup but it was a pleasant surprise. Not overbearing with pickle, a hot soup and refreshing with I believe fresh dill, and some potato and carrots. Loved it. For my entree, I ordered "The Ben" - filet with blueberry merlot compote, blueberry cheese pierogis, and side salad with mixed greens and fresh blueberries. I ordered in between medium rare and rare (I never know what I'm getting when I order rare until I've been to a place once or twice), which was more of a solid medium...but still not too cooked to where I would be suffering to eat it. I loved the blueberry merlot compote sauce... it tasted very refreshing and wouldn't have ever thought to try that on a steak but it was delicious! However the filet itself lacked any kind of seasoning or flavor to me, but then again maybe the way the compote was meant to react made it seem that way for me... not too sure but the sauce definitely made the meal. I didn't notice another dressing for the salad so I think it was the same, but absolutely loved it as it paired nicely with the salad. The blueberry and cheese pierogis, on the other hand, were not my favorite. They were pretty small size, very thick dough, and the cheese and blueberry filling was sparse and just felt like it was lacking something. They were also cold inside was cold... I don't know if that is how they are supposed to be but they just didn't hit the spot for my pierogi cravings. (My friend had the pierogi dippers and raved about how amazing they were so maybe it was just me.) For my drink, I got the Booberry Cereal Milk. Tastes just like it sounds. It was awesome! I would have tried others because they all sounded so good but that was pretty strong in itself lol. All in all, it was a good experience and I will be back to try some more menu items (definitely the polish platter) and give the other pierogis a shot. read more

Attached to the Eastern Hills Mall, in collaboration with Simply Pierogi and Chrusciki Bakery, the space is welcoming and cohesive. The polish mule was possibly the best cocktail I have had in WNY and the pierogi platter satisfied my desire to try each of the flavors. The fried pickles were larger than expected but the breading was flavored with the right blend of spices. If you're too stuffed at the end of your meal for dessert, stop over to Chrusciki to grab a to-go dessert for later. This will likely be one of my go to spots for a specialty cocktail. read more

The food isn't great - but it's very roomy. We have a 1-year-old in the family and were grateful he could be a jerk without bothering other diners! We plan on returning next weekend. Stay away from the brunch menu - I had the egg and sausage sandwich, but unfortunately, the chef tried to be cutting edge. The teriyaki sauce on the sandwich ruined it. Very nice restaurant when you walk in. After that, everything else went downhill. No host to greet us at the front desk. We waited at least ten minutes before seeing anyone. Then saw a sign that says, "Line Starts Here". Found out later that line was for the bakery, not the restaurant. Finally, someone came to seat us. We noticed that there were about 8 tables of people. All waiting, none had any food yet. After a long time, the waitress arrived at our table, and we placed a very simple order. Decaf, Hot chocolate, French Toast, and Sausage Benny (similar to eggs benedict). It took about 45 minutes to deliver the food. When it finally came, my wife pierced the poached egg with her fork and a half cup of water came out of the egg, all over her muffins. The dish was ruined. She immediately complained to the waitress who made up a flimsy excuse. She took the food away and said the kitchen will remake the dish. Bad idea. After another 30 minutes, she finally brought the dish. The muffins under the eggs were still soaked. It looked like the cook simply remade the poached eggs and put them on top of the same dish. Again, my wife pierced the egg and another half cup of water came out. She could not eat it. I tried a couple bites of the other muffin and it was terrible!! I then noticed the inside of the sausage looked raw and uncooked. The waitress apologized and said she would take the charge for the Sausage Benny off our bill. However, when she finally brought the bill 15 minutes later, she made sure to charge for it anyway. A few hours after leaving the restaurant I became very sick with severe stomach pain and symptoms of food poisoning. i now see that other diners complained of feeling ill and food poisoning after eating at this restaurant. I never give bad reviews....hate to do it, but hopefully it will either help them do better or give a possible customer the head's up. My sister and I went here on a recent Friday evening. There were several servers gathered at the bar but it took a very long time to be greeted and an even longer time to get beverages. (Although the hostess was fantastic about filling our water glasses) Our server dropped our apps but never cleared the plates on our small table when the entrees came. He dropped of our entrees...we had ordered the Sto Lat bites and they were supposed to be blackened tenderloin medallions with garlic dill mashed potatoes. They were clearly a tough sirloin (not blackened) and non descript mashed potatoes. Most customers know the difference. Sadly, the mediocre sirloin was also served without a steak knife and our server never came back until we were done and said 'looks like everything was great', dropped the check and took off. We also had added a couple of 'shareable' sides and he brought two of each. If he didnt understand they were for the table, a follow up question would have cleared that up.... I worked in the restaurant business for years and would highly recommend training for the staff and if you cant provide tenderloin, just say you are out of it. We decided to come here as we've watched the tv show that showcases this restaurant. Very nicely decorated inside and we were seated immediately. Water came right away, and then after a few minutes someone came to get our drink order. Drinks came (Remy Side Car and a Blackberry old fashioned and a sprite). They were delicious. Shortly after that our waitress came and took our appetizer order- 716 Bites- they were good. She took our dinner order and after an hour came back to apologize that our order wasn't out and offered to comp a couple drinks. After 30 more minutes, we asked where our food was. We were told "the kitchen got slammed" and it would be another 5 minutes. In the meantime, a table that arrived 30 minutes after us had ordered, was served and paid their bill and left. We can only assume our order was lost. Based on another review from this evening, we weren't the only ones who were forgotten. The food was ok, desserts weee good, but we will probably not return. The service was terrible. Waitress was nice but our food took almost 90 minutes to come out. Some of our party had cold mashed potatoes, overly done/burnt potato pancakes. Potato pancakes should be golden brown. Not blackened edges. We waited 30 minutes for a salt and pepper shaker. 20 more minutes for a new plate to be made to replace the cold items we received. 30 minutes for our bill after we asked for it. Sto Lat Bar was fantastic! The staff was friendly and accommodating, we felt welcomed and safe during these trying times. The venue itself is gorgeous and was great vibes. The food was amazing! We had fried pierogis, deep fried pickles, zapiekanka (polish street food) and the salmon was excellent. We had such a good night there. Clean, great music, friendly staff, tasteful decor and a delicious selection of menu items. There is a full well lit bar with a fun , trendy drink menu and a baked goods case featuring the Crushicki bakery items that people know and apparently truly love . Daytime food revolves around the create your own pierogi line ( much like chipotle) and the dinner menu boasts fine polish fare as well as filet pork and chicken dishes served in a savory dish combo with pierogis and vegetables . Drinks were also great. Our issue was the service. The girl we started with was a doll. Busy but kept up with us and our order, no issues. The second TWO people who waited on us were never there. Ever. We were never checked on and never asked if we wanted more drinks after our second round. We gave our card to a blonde woman wearing puffy sleeves and no apology given. Didn't see the card for 10 minutes. We went and asked and were created with a very snotty "he's getting it". 3 of the 4 of us are currently servers at restaurants around the area. I ask about Happy Hour, which is, according to their menu and everywhere they promote themselves DAILY from 4-10pm with different drink specials every day.
