I had the most amazing crab cake here. Probably one of the best ever. So fresh without the tons of breading. I had a taste of the bourbon shrimp which were fresh and large but just ok tasting. Not a fan of anything sweet (except for desserts of course) on my entree. I had the fried shrimp which were very large almost the size of my palm. They were butterflied flat with breading on either side so it kind of makes the breading stand out more than the shrimp. Came with a generous portion of Fries. No diet tonight Dining companion had the sea bass which was small for the price but perfectly, perfectly cooked. That's hard to do. We had the chocolate mousse for dessert. It is to die for. Amazing. Prime rib was decent but salad lettuce was wilted (seemed like it had been tossed an hour or more previously and sat waiting to be served) and twice baked potato was dry (again, held in a warming dish). Service was 'good' - meaning our server went through the motions but was rushed and looking elsewhere when he spoke to us. Even the hostesses performed the job ok but it was definitely 'perfunctory' - no enthusiasm or even a genuine smile. Disappointing. read more

My family and I came in from Idaho for my master's graduation at ASU and wanted to go out in style. We picked the Stockyard over a few restaurants. John our server was amazing! Super attentive and treated us like we were the only patrons at the restaurant. I ordered the 24oz bone in ribeye, my wife ordered the prime rib, my two boys ordered the special (bison) and half chicken. The wife and I ordered cocktails and we also ordered dessert. I'm not a pecan pie fan, however..theirs was spectacular. 1/2 way through my steak it was rare. I didn't finish it. John and the manager said it would be removed (I asked to speak to the manager to rave on John, the steak was not an issue since it was taken care of.) When I received the bill, to my dismay, the steak was on the bill. I inquired about it to John and he said he'd take care of it. When he brought the bill back only half of it was taken off. When a restaurant of this caliber says something, they should honor it. We tipped John over 40%. This was out of his control. I'm not sure we will be back. Had my wife's birthday dinner at Stockyards because they are participating in Restaurant Week, and so I made reservations for she and I and two of our daughters for this past Wednesday evening. We arrived about 15 minutes early for dinner, and the hostess already had prepared our table. We wanted to hit their awesome bar for a drink first though, so she told us not to worry, our table would remain ready whenever we were. Very cool. We sauntered on down the long hallway. I love this bar, classic old west design. Cozy. There were a fair number of people, but lots of spots open at the bar, and 2 or 3 bartenders. I ordered our 4 drinks directly from the bar (2 of the same pinot noir, 1 of Côtes du Rhône, 1 virgin mojito). Inexplicably, it took 20+ minutes for us to get those drinks at which point we sipped for a few minutes and then I cashed out. As we sauntered back up the long hallway to the hostess stand around 6:30, I was asked if we'd like to transfer our bar tab to the restaurant. Now, normally, this is not an option anymore, so I really liked that they offered to do that. We were immediately seated in the Gammage Booth, and then greeted by our server. He did a fantastic job and was quite informative, friendly and prompt. Moreover, there was a separate employee doing nothing but monitoring water levels in our glasses, and he kept them pretty much full at all times. I would say the service was excellent. It being restaurant week, I had the $44 prixe fixe where I selected the Stockyards Steak Soup, the Gold Coast Seafood Gratin and the Cheesecake. The steak soup was dense and so, so good. I savored every spoonful. They were generous with the steak! The seafood gratin, replete with lobster, shrimp, and scallops, baked in a garlic cream sauce, and served with garlic toast with side of their Parmesan Potato Stack was quite rich (I love rich food), and was DELICIOUS. The seafood was all cooked perfectly and tender. I ate 100% of what was on my plate. The potato stack was a fan favorite of the evening too. My wife and one daughter both ordered the Restaurant Week prixe fixe with a salad and petit filet rare / medium rare. They both said they loved their salads, and that their steaks were perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Our youngest daughter decided to try something new and ordered the American Bison Meatloaf, which I of course had to try. It was deliciously prepared, perfect consistency, massive portion. She had never before tried bison and was not previously a huge fan of meatloaf in general, but she raved about this dish. Kudos Stockyards for getting it right! Wife ordered cheesecake as her desert and daughter ordered pecan pie. We took all the deserts home. Daughter subsequently ate her pecan pie and said it was awesome. We have not yet had the cheesecakes. All in all, I was a little disappointed in the wait at the bar, but the rest of the experience more than made up for it. My wife loved her birthday dinner, and everyone loved their meals. Love the history behind this place, and will definitely do Stockyards again. read more

Well I'll start by saying it's a beautiful huge building with very friendly staff. Seated right away, arrived 15 mins before reservation and they took us back. Sat in the main dining room by the entrance and was astounded by the pictures with the facts by them. Some old cool things in there! Ok on to the food. I had the NY strip topped with blue cheese crumble and a side of the peppercorn demiglace. The steak itself was cooked to order and had very little fat on it. It was the best steak I've had in many years. The only thing I disliked was the Parmesan potatoes were scalloped and I was expecting some sort of gold or red potatoes with Parmesan. Not docking this place for that, shoulda had a baked tater. Anyways, after reading all the reviews on yelp, I'm glad I took a chance. 11/10 read more

In Phoenix for business and saw the Stockyard was near my hotel. Checked out yelp and decided to give it a try. Excellent choice. The service was exceptional. My server Dawn was outstanding, but from the hostess, to the wait staff everyone was friendly and professional. I had the 16oz NY Strip and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of cut. The steak was cooked perfectly. The pecan pie recommended by Dawn was fantastic as well. Overall excellent value, great food and great service. read more

This restaurant has been around forever and is still going strong after all these year. Nice and quiet. Great for corporate lunch meetings and even romantic evening dates. Food is delicious. Service is always nice. The BBQ sauce. It is all about the BBQ sauce. We tell them all the time they can market the stuff. A bit spicy, but oh so good. A corporation my husband worked for years ago actually ordered some in bottles with the corporate name on them and passed them out to all the employees it is so good. I don't do $100 dinners often. A: I can't afford them often and B: Quite often they don't, in my opinion, live up to the hype. I have a friend whose birthday is 8 days following mine and we decided to celebrate together this year with a nice dinner. From the time we walked in the door the service was right on. We had lots of questions for our waiter and he answered all of them with patience. First round was soup/salad/bread. Main round we both had steaks and scalloped potatoes I had a crab cake and my friend had a creamed spinach that was very good. Couple bumps in the road the crab cake had a heavy dose of black pepper in the taste and the ribeye had to go back as it came out medium rare instead of medium. My filet came out perfect at medium rare. I did not know if the crab cake was normal so I ate it in silence and it wasn't really bad just not what I expected. The chocolate and the strawberry desserts were a great finish. We both really liked this restaurant and the small dining rooms and the lighting. I definitely had better meals but since this was famous and Popular was told had to visit when in AZ Our server was not the best and that's probably why the experience started out less than stellar. We had venison sausage and shrimp. Shrimp was in a bourbon sauce and practically inedible. Sticky and too sweet and shrimp did not seem fresh. Chilean sea bass was cooked well accompanied by potatoes and veggies. Both decent The steaks that were served was ok. Delmonico was over cooked and had to send it back. The prime rib was so tough but the filet was tender and cooked properly. In fairness they provided a new steak and didn't charge for the prime rib. Wow what can I say about this one first of all they take reservations. Covid update on here as they social distance need to wear a mask everyone is inside. The greeters for hostesses are very nice they sat us down right away waiters and waitresses came for table brought us water and this lovely bread got to check out the picture. The nostalgic here it's awesome you get lost in the artwork and history in this place. The menu they offer you paper menu or you can use the QR code. The food here is amazing. . We start off with appetizers commended by a waitress which was trout then we had a salad homemade dressing and a balsamic vinaigrette it was very delicious. Then I had a prime rib cooked to perfection with an amazing horseradish. Was undecided about his side dish or we just recommend it stacked potatoes and yes good recommendation they were very very good. We have filet mignon again, just the way we like it. Of course we have desert chocolate mousse this is a must it's rich it's creamy it's delicious nice way to end a beautiful evening. My husband and I chose The Stockyards for our anniversary dinner. We wanted something nice that wasn't too dressy. The Stockyards fit the bill. In fact, the decor lends itself to anything above truly casual. We had both pursued the menu before our visit. We thought we knew what we wanted, but changed out minds the second our server said the night's special included bison ribeye. Bison was served with asparagus and parmesan potatoes. I ordered mine with the Cesar salad ($6 upcharge.) My husband ordered his with a cup of the steak chili. Soup came out piping hot. It had a rich and meaty flavor. The salad was well dressed, crisp and cold. As far as flavor, the Cesar was fairly standard. Bison ribeyes were both ordered medium rare. We both found out meats to be on the rarer side. Still within range of what we would eat. Bisons were flavorful. The sear marks added just enough char flavor to the meat. Sweetness from caramelized onion compound butter only accentuated the meat. I wish the bison was a regular menu item. It was nice to have a fresh components in the asparagus. Parmesan potatoes were rich and indulgent. All was served with house made cornbread and biscuits. We learned a lot from the server assigned to the table next to us. She seemed to have all kinds of insight into the menu, and the restaurant's history. Our server felt more like Tim Conway playing an undertaker, who was now a restaurant server, in a Carol Burnett sketch. He didn't smile until the end, gave very short answers, and had a strange vibe. I had high hopes for this supposley high-end steakhouse. It was such a disappointment. The service was wonderful, but the quality of food was not there. The salad dressing was water down, and the Mexican meatball soup had no taste...after that i was telling myself the steaks might be the wow factor. Boy, was I wrong. What a disappointment. We had to ask for a 1 sauce. The prime rib was dry, and the rib eye was cold. For the amount we paid for the steaks. We would have had a better tasting experience at Texas Roadhouse. Was looking for a steak house and was looking for the typical big names when this one popped up. Decided to go even though I may have been underdressed. As soon as we walked in I knew I was a bit undressed but we were seated anyway and NOT hidden in the back or out of sight. Made me feel at ease that my dress didn't matter. Nice. Everyone was friendly even the other diners so it made me feel so welcomed and appreciated. Saw the items on the menu and what caught my eye was the calf liver dish. Don't stop reading this because of liver. Many restaurants don't have this delicacy. As a kid I hated it but it was cheap. As I got older I discovered that liver maintains the full flavor of itself even if you drown it in gravy or sauces. I got to appreciate the taste of this delicacy and if it is being served that's what I want. I even bypassed the beef dishes. The liver was cooked nicely with bacon, onions, and gravy. The chef cooked it to perfection. Tender and tasty with no additional spices needed. Yummy. I had a salad to round out my meal and I had a nonalcoholic beer. This place had a Guinness version called Kaliber. Never heard of or seen it so I ordered one. The taste was amazing and full of flavor. Now my friends frown on me getting nonalcoholic beers because they drink for the buzz and not the taste. Taste is everything for me. This place is out of the way but worth it. The atmosphere is of a higher end steakhouse, very traditional decor. The value of the food is very good and so is the taste. We ordered a 16 oz Ribeye and a chopped steak dinner. They both came with choice of soup or salad, choice of potatoe and veggie. The salads and sides were good portions. We had 2 beers and 1 mixed drink. They bring a bread basket that includes cornbread and biscuits, both delicious with honey butter. Since it was our anniversary we were offered a complimentary dessert. Our total bill before tip was $117.00 . To me, a higher end nice dining experience with good food, thats a bargain in today's world. We will definitely be back. read more

It's a historic spot, opened in 1947!? Old-school, ranch-like steakhouse. Classic dishes, all healthy portions and flavorful. Saloon bar is great for a quick drink in the area since our offices are in the middle of nothing industrial warehouses. Been going here for 40+ years. Had lunch with a friend and we both ordered the steak burger. I ordered a side of mushroom gravy. Lunch arrived and we each got the steak sandwich. It was our second choice as I have had several times and is awesome. When we told the bartender the order was wrong her reply was. " must have been a mis-communication". She offered no correction or bill adjustment. Side order of mushroom gravy was in a Ketchup cup. Most of my times there the Bartender was friendly and warm, not today. $150.00 lunch normally would have tipped 30-40% but not today. Food was awesome but not Bartender service. This was our first time going to the Stockyard. My husband ordered the 24 ounce bone-in ribeye. This steak runs about $80 and did include a side and a salad which isn't typical in some really nice steak places. We really were not sure what to expect here - it seems more of a casual steakhouse/saloon style atmosvs a nice steakhouse where you may want to dress up a little. My husband's ribeye was not very flavorful - it was a huge steak but it was also tough. I ordered the 8oz fillet and it was cooked nicely but a bit salty and not as tender as I would've expected. The bread pudding that we got for dessert had a nice flavor but was cold in the middle for the most part and the pecan pie was just really very sugary and didn't have very much flavor. It was average at best .There are much better steakhouses for the money. In my opinion the quality and taste of the food was far from impressive. It really reminded me of a steak comparable to Outback or a Texas Roadhouse. There was no comparison to some of the great places that we often go to like Oceans 44, Steak 44, Bourbon and Bones - it was not on that level at all. read more
