I am a Bostonian, lived in NY & TX, been alot of places. This place is good. I have read post of those discussing price, those individuals have not been to other "UPSCALE STEAKHOUSES". The decor, I get it, not modern, the location, not in the greatest area, not the worst either. But.....this place has a great selection of steaks with a great price. The staff is professional. I have been to Ruth's Chris, A Different Point Of View, Steak 44, Orange Sky, and Applebees(haha), this place meets above standard, anyday. The prices are average. They weren't too busy and they spread people out to allow each group to have a more private experience. 2. The service is top notch. Con's The food wasn't what I'd expect at this level. Our daughter had the sirloin and while it's one of the cheaper steaks it wasn't done correctly, so we had to send it back (she asked for medium and one end was a very bloody medium rare In addition the texture of the steak was quite grainy. I've had better steaks at Denny's. My wife had the pork chop. It was ok. The sides which came with it, not so much. Our son's girlfriend had the NY Strip. It was outstanding. Prime Rib was delicious. Often you can get more fat than beef. This was excellent and the 12oz piece was a good size for a hungry guy. She had the filet which was also very good and cooked exactly right. The dinner salads were very good as well. The Parmesan potatoes were I Teri g but I preferred my baked potato. Came here for my husband's birthday and was super disappointed. The house salads had tomatoes that were so under ripe that they looked orange. They were as hard as a rock. The seasonal veggies were completely undercooked and totally raw. The prime rib was very chewy. The only upside was our server was great and the wine was good. I dined at the Stockyards for the first time in more than 20 years during Restaurant Week. Family members selected it mostly for the location, which was midway for our family, which is spread out across the valley. We were pleasantly surprised at the setting, service and quality of the food and preparation. We were a party of 5 and were seated in the dining room behind the saloon, which was quieter than the main rooms. Our waitress was very engaging and helpful with our questions about the menu. One of our guests was a little late so she let us linger over the menu for a little bit to give him time to arrive. We all ordered the seafood chowder as our first course and it was delicious! Thick, with lots of small pieces of seafood for good variety in every bite. A bread basket of warm cornbread pleased many of us. Our guests all ordered filet or prime rib with various traditions of potato sides. Shout out to the kitchen for delivering every entree perfectly cooked to order. Potato options included baked, mashed, maple bourbon mashed sweet potatoes and a scalloped that I selected. Everyone was very happy with their choices. Dessert options for Restaurant Week were pecan pie, black and whites chocolate mousse and NY cheesecake. All were very sweet but tasty. With 2 bottles of wine and 5 entrees, our Bill was $425 without tip. And that's the only thing that caused me to rate them 4 stars instead of 5. Stockyards is as pricy as any fine Scottsdale steakhouse but the environment and service is more casual and down home. So... we were happy with our choice and in the future I'd entertain out of town guests here for the Arizona "old west" experience. But I wouldn't choose it for a fine dining or celebration experience. read more

This place has been around forever and does a really great job being a comfortable dining experience. They have the process down to a science from checking in with hostess, to taking your order and the food coming out quickly. I went with the prime rib dip and it was excellent. read more

So I've been wanting to try this place for years but I always forget about it I finally remember so I went right then to try it for the place of being round for so long I was surprised how good it looked they maintain it very well they start you off with the Bread Basket the jalapeno cornbread was off the chain I ordered boar sausage never had it before I was very surprised how delicious it was the sauce is really good I love The Cranberries in it the cocktails are cheap for a steakhouse that's what I was most surprised about a old-fashioned $7 that's half where I normally pay beer $6 amazing the steak was disappointing I ordered the 12 oz ribeye was tough and had lots of connecting tissue not worth the $40 or whatever was our server was great he was on top of everything good explaining the menu and giving suggestions I will go back try some of the things in the menu I would say it's a three-star but just a different things they have on their menu I gave him extra star and the service was great read more

We had 26 people for dinner! The room was great, since the bar area was a little loud. The food was good, everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I like my steaks medium-rare so I enjoyed mine. But they did not ask the temperature when you ordered so several people had to send their steaks back. I feel they should have explained that for the room. The service was good, but there a few times we needed something or someone and no one was around. I would definitely recommend if in the area! My boss took my coworker out to this place after work and I was surprised at how nice it looked on the inside. Our server was great. She explained everything on the menu and made great recommendations. I got a Philly cheesesteak and it was the best I've had in a long time. I set up a reservation for my father, boyfriend and I. He came 900 miles to visit me so I was thinking this place would be good. It's not at all when we sat down you couldn't even hear yourself talk your so close to other people you literally have to yell. The calf fries are not calf fries they are lamb fries. My dad is a farmer so we have had calf fries plenty of times. The waiter had been there 17 years he was so rude and condescending I'm assuming he isn't a fan of black people the way he treated us. We didn't get our rolls and I excepted to spend quite a bit of money but when he asked what salad we would like he didn't mention the House salad is included and the other salads are extra. Now to the steaks omg it was the most thinnest ribeye I have ever seen and it was so bland no salt or pepper on the steak. I didn't even eat it I took three bites and was like well I'm done this is disgusting. The Parmesan mashed potatoes were good and the salad I mean how hard is it to screw that up. Absolutely delicious! I had never heard of this restaurant before, which brings shame to the Arizona native in me. This place has been around since 1947! It has a great saloon vibe with murals on the walls depicting the old western days when the restaurant was across the street from a stockyard...hence the name lol. We happened to be here during restaurant week so we enjoyed a wonderful 3 course meal which started with a house salad that was fresh and crisp. Next my fiancé and I split our entrees. An 8 oz filet mignon, cooked to perfection, and the shrimp scampi. We both got the Parmesan potato stack on the side which was incredible! For desert: pecan pie and the chocolate mousse. I'm not a huge mousse fan but if one is, I bet they would enjoy this one. Not too grainy of a texture and very fluffy. The pecan pie was to die for, I wish I took a photo but I devoured it in minutes. Service was excellent as well. While visiting Arizona from out of town for a girls trip we decided to try this steakhouse based on its yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. We ordered the prime rib meal for two and also ordered a couple of margaritas. The prime rib was very tender and seasoned well. My girlfriend loved their whiskey sweet mashed potatoes.The margaritas were perfect. We loved the ambience of the old saloon meets modern day feel. Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive. Hostess: 1 star. Stared at us entering in casual clothes then sat us in the middle of the dining room at a table when all but 2 booths were open. When we asked to be seated in a booth she seemed bothered by the request. She did move us, but it was uncomfortable to say the least. Server: 5 stars. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. He shared a lot of history about the restaurant that was so interesting. Also made great recommendations for our table. Bussers: 4 stars. Attentive and also knowledgeable. That's impressive. Food: 3.5 stars. Nothing to complain about at all. Steaks were good. Sides were good. Really loved the Caesar salad. Just wanted to dream of having this meal again, but I won't. Best steak house in Phoenix! Always a go to for friends or family dinner. Perfectly cooked steaks, haven't had a bad experience yet.

Overall the experience was okay. Just as a heads up, if you are running 10-15 minutes late for your reservation, be prepared to be given an end time that you have to meet to sit a table... only to be surrounded by 6 empty tables for the two hours you're there. Our reservation was at 5:30, we arrived 12 minutes past and we were told that because we were late we'd have to leave the table no later than 7:15. So with that, our steaks were burning hot when we received them and I even burnt my mouth. There is a way to accommodate people running late without guilt tripping them and forcing them out. But at the very least, if you act as if there's no tables because of us being late and then lead us into an empty dining room, don't expect a happy customer. Also, the steak needed salt and the sweet potatoes were far too sweet. Spend your money elsewhere. Our waiter was great though and the runners were great. The hostesses were not. read more

We didn't have a reservation, but there is a lot of good seating in the bar area and we got a table right away. The server greeted us quickly and she was really friendly. Iconic Arizona stake house that has been around a long time. I have been wanting to come here for a long time. Highly disappointed. Drinks were marginal. Their signature manhattan nothing special and it went down hill with dinner. For a steak house, the Ribeye steak that maybe a 1/2 inch thick and tasteless. Did not have any char on it. My wife's prim rib was okay. The entire dinner was worth the money. Considering the Greater Phoenix area has some fantastic steak houses at the same price point. This is my go-to dinner spots every time I visit Phoenix (which is, I might add, always for work). Here on business a lot and decided to check this place out after a long day. The venue looks very upscale. However the patrons were in attire ranging from jeans and sneakers to heels and dresses. I sat at the bar and was attended to fairly quickly. I ordered the 5oz filet, it comes with a potato of choice (I went with the baked potato) and a choice of soup or salad. I chose salad considering the rest of my meal was going to be fairly heavy. They brought out complimentary jalapeño corn bread and honey butter along with an array of vegetables and dip (extra points for being creative). The cornbread was phenomenal. This could have been because I was starving, but it took a lot of will power to eat only a half of one. The salad was nothing special, just a house salad, but it was fresh and the homemade balsamic was really good. The filet was tender, juicy and flavored perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The baked potato was a bit too loaded. I'd guess at least 1/3rd cup of butter. I scooped most of it off but I don't even want to begin to think about how many delicious calories I consumed there. My suggestion would be to ask for butter on the side so you can control how much goes on. The guy at the bar next to me convinced me to have a nightcap. I chose the Guinness. It was on top and well, it tasted like Guinness. The service was good. Ambiance was calm, inviting and romantic. Food was great! The price was extremely reasonable. I will definitely be back and recommend this place to my fellow business travelers staying at the numerous hotels surrounding this joint. read more

Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. We have allergies and she was very knowledgeable and was able to help us order. There was even dessert we could eat. The scallops were so tender and tasty. My salmon was salty as was hobby's elk. None of us liked the Brussels sprouts, which was a disappointment since it's one of our favorites. They needed to be cooked longer and they were very bland. The ribs were just ok. Fall off the bone, but the flavor was nothing special. The NY strip steak was delicious. We all liked the steak fries too. The dessert were definitely the highlight. The gluten free chocolate mouse was so delicious and the texture was amazing. The gluten free crème brûlée was perfect. The dairy free sorbet was highly enjoyed. Even the root beer floor was super delicious. I would got back for the scallops and desert.
