I had the steak frites with a glass of wine last night. I guess I was lucky enough to be able to go on a weekday, because I was told that you must have a reservation Friday-Sunday. The decor is super cute, and the restaurant is cozy. The food portion is very generous and it was well prepared. I wasn't a huge fan of the fries as they were too salty, so maybe next time, I would order them without salt. Also, another suggestion would be that you might want to consider serving your steak on a flat plate, instead of on a pile of fries and a curved plate, this makes it extremely difficult to cut your steak. I also was told that the all the desserts were made in house, so I'm anxious to return and try them out. I have to agree that it's one of the better places to eat up top on the mountain. I think the owners genuinely care about the food they put out and you can see and taste it. Go give them a try. read more

So I came here really hungry and expecting some phenomenon dinner but it wasn't quite like that. I had the fries and duck and my friend had the salmon. Their food was ok but from my point of vie the food had to many condiments. I never huger heart burns but after this dinner they were bad! Then I got a stomach!!! Who would have known that such a great place could be found in Bluejay of all places?!?! Our group had kids and we made a last minute reservation so they put all 10 of us on the back patio. The food was great and the back patio is decorated beautifully. The brussel sprouts were outstanding, duck confit was superb, duck fat fries were perfectly cooked,.... on and on I can't say enough good things about places that do their food right like Stone Creek does. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Amazing food, great service, great ambience. The ossobuco was melt in your mouth delicious. The seared ahi was perfect. Duck fat fries with hotel butter? Insanely good! Fried macaroni? Best I've had. Our server was busy but kept up with us while two bussers covered everything in between. This is the kind of place you can show up dressed to the nines for an evening out or in hiking boots fresh off a trail. Super comfy and cozy. We went to Stone Creek Bistro based on a recommendation from a friend. It exceeded our expectations! We went as a party of four, and all had different dishes. Each of us were equally impressed with our choices. The chicken, pan seared steak, salmon, and cheeseburger (yes even their cheeseburgers are incredible!), were all so flavorful and delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection. Nothing came differently than how we ordered it. Medium rare is perfect medium rare. Not overdone or under done. The desserts we had were as amazing as the main dishes. Who would have thought something called coffee and doughnuts could taste so incredible?! And honestly, as fantastic as the food was, the service and atmosphere was every bit as good. Our server was totally attentive and friendly, the staff were all friendly and welcoming....I just can't say enough good things about this great little gem of a restaurant. We don't get up the hill to Lake Arrowhead as often as we would like to, but we will absolutely go back to Stone Creek Bistro the next time we do! Thank you for a wonderful evening! read more

Like the restaurants in Santa Ynez, this restaurant is not about hip interiors, ultra snotty servers, and an uptight atmosphere. When you eat here you know that people who love good food and great ingredients got together to open a restaurant. And let me tell you, what they deliver here is one of the finest meals you'll ever taste. Eat here. I was tempted to give it one star to keep people from going, but I'll share. We ate far too much food and not one thing we ordered was mediocre. Also, our server(red hair and glasses) was so freaking cool. She made us feel like she was hosting a special dinner and she was there to help guide us through the menu in a comfortable and friendly way. In other words, she was what fine dining strives to offer in servers and so often fails to acheive. If the chef is reading this, my only disappointment is that you didn't have anything from the smoker on last night's menu. It's cruel to make the woods smell amazing from a mile away, and then only offer smoked items for lunch. Might I suggest bbq brunch? It's a fun unique way to share brunch, and based on what I've eaten, I'd drive 2hrs. from Orange County to have brunch with friends in the mountains. read more

We had the duck and the steak frites which were both really good but the brussel sprouts knocked our socks off. They are a meal in themselves as I was completely satisfied after eating them before my meal even came. My hubby got the tomato bisque which had an entire grilled cheese sandwich baked into the top. I came here with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day dinner and was so pleased with the way dinner turned out! We were seated rather quickly and were offered bread. Our server took our drink order and came back within minutes to take our food order. We were very excited to try the Duck-Fat Fries but thought we would start with the Smoked Bacon Mac and Cheese Fritters since the Fries would come with the meal my boyfriend was ordering. The Fritters were DELICIOUS and so worth it! My boyfriend ordered the Stone Creek Cheeseburger, which he really enjoyed. We both were surprised because we don't think he got the duck-fat fries, but his burger was still tasty. I ordered the Handmade Wild Mushroom Ravioli and was extremely impressed. My boyfriend had a bite and thought it was absolutely delicious as well! It was definitely the best ravioli I have ever had! I also really liked how the owner was very personable and stopped by our table to see how our meal was going. Excellent food. This is a great restaurant and my husband and I loved it. The service is attentive and friendly. The servings are generous. The pricing is excellent for the quality, freshness and unique preparation of the food. Starters: we had the fried Brussel sprouts. They were savory and rich. Hubbs had the potato bisque soup. Delicious I had the arugula salad with strawberries And the hazel nut dressing was great Hubbs had the steak Oscar. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the steak frites. The steak was very tender, juicy and flavorful. The duck fat fries were tasty, well cooked, crispy. We were stuffed. But had to try the Mexican hot chocolate flourless cake. It did not disappoint. I love chef owned places and appreciate non-commercialized food venues. This is a cute place in a cute area. The service was good but there were not many people dining when we were there. The food is creative, but the chef is very heavy handed with salt. I actually love salt, finishing salts etc, but this was overwhelming for even me. We had the mac and cheese balls, almost inedibly salty. The "simple greens" I believed they called it, was nothing simple, the dressing was delicious except that there was way too much of it, and again salty. The flat iron steak was cooked well (med-rare) and the presentation was nice, still, too much salt. I will try again and hope for less salt. Also wish they had a full bar. Came here with my hubby and some friends for the weekend. Chef Sam has a way with food. This is probably the best restaurant on the whole mountain. The place is upscale without crazy prices. The staff is attentive, friendly and cheery. That must be hard to do with what I've heard about the locals being stingy. Great food. Great decor. The parking kind of sucks. Not a lot of room. I hope this place makes it and sticks around. We'll definitely be coming back when we visit Lake Gregory. read more

My fiancé and I went on a date last night, and chose this place because of all the 5-star reviews. IT WAS A TOTAL HORRIBLE DISASTER!!! We ordered fried Brussel sprouts, and they were blanched, not fried, and 90% RAW, and we both spit them out--they were not even close to tender and fresh. Their "famous" duck fries had NO TASTE--it was a HUGE order and we ate about 6 or 8 each and 90% of it was left. Then the "piece de resistance" was their tomato bisque soup in a crock with cheese melted on top. WOW what a JOKE. The soup was nothing more than a can of Campbell's tomato soup made with water (not even cream), and the cheese on top was like a glob of slime in your mouth--very GROSS. When my fiancé went in to pay the check ($26) he gave the girl a $50 bill, and she said, "do you want the change?" We have dined at some of the finest restaurants in New York City, Nashville Tennessee, Washington DC, and never has ANYONE had the unmitigated GALL to ask if we wanted change. EXCELLENT place for dinner in the Arrowhead/Big Bear area (and I'd say the Inland Empire). We made reservations for six adults and three small children for a Tuesday night. They were slammed when we arrived so we ended up waiting for 20 minutes or so. My husband and I enjoyed a nice glass of wine while we waited. We were then seated in a side room reserved for larger groups. This allowed the kids to roam around a bit without making the servers nervous or possibly annoying other diners. The group was a hodge podge of different tastes and preferences but everyone LOVED their food. I ordered the ahi tuna, which was seared to perfection. The tuna was fresh and had a great buttery texture. Even the kids' food was good; the vegetables were fresh and mixed nicely with herbs -- this wasn't your average chicken nuggets or pizza. Service was also excellent; the waitress was extremely attentive and came by regularly to re-fill waters. Then, at the end of the night, the owner came by and introduced himself and asked us about the food and our experience. The restaurant itself is really nice. It's modern rustic and has a really warm, welcoming vibe. Overall, it was a great dining experience and I'd highly recommend to anyone in the area. read more

My only complaint was very slow service. They appeared understaffed and our server was answering phones while taking our order & was the bartender also etc- lots of multitasking...but the food was so good I didn't care!!! The ambiance is also very nice. We will be back on our annual trips to Arrowhead for sure. Been wanting to come here for years. Finally went last weekend. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! All the superlative Yelp reviews are correct. All the food is excellent. Servers were attentive and knowledgeable. Ambiance, quirky cool. The mussels were not served in a broth. They were served in a white wine heavy cream sauce with melted cheese, I think. Sounds weird, but absolutely amazing. We all raved and wiped that bowl clean with pieces of bread. I would go back just for these. The duck: again, as good a duck meal as I have ever had. Moist, flavorful breast and large leg confit. Lake Arrowhead is not known for its fabulous cuisine. When we want to eat something great, we have to either head down the mountain, or we have to eat here. This place has true 5 star food. Getting technical, I could ding a star for the atmosphere inside, but I don't think that is necessary. One positive in my book (which is a negative in others) is that the food comes out slower than most places. It might be due to the fact they are always busy, but I'd like to think it's because they allow you to have time to talk with your dinner mates. If you can only eat at one place in Arrowhead, this is the one. read more

My favorite restaurant in the mountains:-). The steak tartar and mussels are my order. Only bummer is that they don't have a full bar, only beer and wine. I love that they use fresh, high quality ingredients and make top notch "high cuisine" style food, but still have French fries on the menu. Not just on like a kids' menu, but heavily featured as an actual menu item. That speaks to the lack of pretentiousness at Stone Creek Bistro. If the weather is nice enough and you have a decent size group, ask for the back patio where they have a massive feast table with fire pits built into the tabletop. There are only four parking spots at the restaurant, so park across the street. read more

We made a special trip to this restaurant because of the rave reviews. It was about noon, so we chose their burgers as our maiden meal. Who doesn't love a great burger, right? Our order was burgers cooked medium with regular fries (neither of us care for duck). What we got were burgers with meat patties that were cooked so dry, that they were difficult to swallow. The fries were tasty, but were loaded with sea salt. Neither of us could manage to eat more than a portion of our meals...what a disappointment! The restaurant had two other tables of diners, so the chef was not under unusual pressure due to high volume. It will be quite a while (if ever) before we return to this establishment. This place is definitely gourmet without the "attitude". Service was excellent and friendly. They have a very nice selection of wines. They carry wines that may not be on the menu for those with a more sophisticated palate. We had the salmon which could be the best prepared salmon I've ever had. Grilled to your desire, served with Tuscan black kale, English pea and spring herb savory custard, smoked carrot vinaigrette. Each ingredient is distinct and well balanced. One of our party had the steak frites, a New York strip steak cooked to your preference. The fries cooked in duck fat. This is highly recommended and a definite return for us! read more

I loved the atmosphere here! It was so cozy, warm, and inviting. I felt I was having dinner at someone's home. I ordered a seafood pasta dish and my friend ordered the tomato soup and wedge caesar salad. My dish tasted fresh and was flavored very well. The pasta sauce was too salty though and I ended up eating mainly the seafood. I had a bite of my friend's salad and thought it was quite tasty. I also tried my friend's tomato soup and found it very flavorful, comforting, and rich. Although, I would of loved to give 5 stars, the salty pasta caused me to knock down one star. read more

Ohhh yeahhh!!!!! This place rocks. I came here on Valentine's Day and was pleasantly surprised by everything from the service to the food. First of all the service is great. They are constantly running around to fill waters and ask if you want more bread. (which we obviously did) My girlfriend and myself split the smoked bacon and Mac n cheese balls which were little deep fried balls and they were out of this world. So flavorful, beautiful smokey flavor but not too much cheese which was great. For my main I got the cheeseburger with duck fat fries (even though there were plenty of things on the menu that looked great I was just in the mood for a burger. The burger was really great. The meat was so tender and flavorful. The duck fat fries were also very good. (They are also offered as an appetizer) My girlfriend got the mushroom ravioli and we both loved it. I'm not even a huge ravioli guy and I thought it was great. So much flavor and the mushroom taste was not overpowering at all. I can't wait to be back next time I'm in arrowhead. read more
