This is Bryce Cannon's offer of fine dining after a day outdoors. Reservations are highly recommended, we were able to make same day reservations. The indoor space is small, maybe 10 table. The outdoor space is beautiful with a heated patio and view of the mountains. I got the impression outdoor dining is limited to certain times of the year. We ordered the beet salad, bread, French onion soup, and the 14oz Ribeye with mashed potatoes and broccolini. Beer Salad - excellent. Paired with a walnut topping and an citrus fruit. The citrus really cut the earthiness of the beet. Perfectly made. Bread - served with whipped butter. Bread was warm, soft, and nicely salted. 6 dollars for 4 slices of bread - but I would order it every time. French onion soup - very hearty heavy with onions. Bread still has crunch - nice texture, topped with melted cheese. Ribeye - cooked medium rare by preference, topped with the house made Worcestershire sauce. Nicely done. Slight grilled taste. The rosemary butter was also delicious - I would recommend pairing the two. (Although it says choose one). Mashed potatoes - nicely done. Broccolini - a little firm in texture. Would've liked the option for asparagus which came with the fish. Overall, very nice. Definitely some culinary expertise. read more

The service and ambiance is amazing here. The food was, well, mostly ok. The appetizers and deserts were perfect, but we ordered 3 steaks, all medium rare, and the chef cooked them to medium well/well done. All of them. We had one person complain and they were brought back a rare steak, and some neighboring customers also had the same complaint, their steaks were not cooked correctly, over done. This chef does well, with everything including cooking the steak to well done (pun intended) if you prefer an overcooked steak, look no further, they will take care of you here. read more

Sadly one of the worst meals I've had in a long time and worst birthday dinner I've ever had. Friends who had previously visited only had lovely things to say about this restaurant; that being said, I am truly confused at how anyone could find this food anything more than mediocre. Tiny portions, overcooked meat, the chicken piccata was served with, I kid you not, 3 capers and zero sauce, and the pricing is not at all reflective of the food's poor quality (overpriced is an understatement). Beautiful atmosphere with excellent food! Stone Hearth is a nicer restaurant in this area, so I wouldn't come in my hiking clothes. You can plan to see some deer and other small wildlife if you sit outside on the patio. You absolutely must order the Citrus Roasted Carrot Salad--delicious flavor and great texture. The halibut dish was also very good. I love when a restaurant times the appetizers and entrees nicely with time between both dishes, and Stone Hearth did that so well. Thank you fellow Yelpers for bringing this restaurant to the top of the list. I came here after driving 11 hours. It's a beautiful restaurant, I looked messy and didn't have a reservation. I'm grateful they seated me anyway and treated me kindly. And then WOW. The outside patio is beautiful. The food is delicate, delicious and far better than it needs to be. Whoever the chef is? He's a damn genius. His vegan/vegetarian dish was so delicious the night I stumbled in, that I came back the next night and had their 8oz steak. Oh. My. Goodness. As a native from the Midwest who has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for over a decade, this restaurant sure does know how to do veggies AND meat. Just wow. I'm so glad I booked this place for our last night of out Bryce Canyon trip last week. It was well worth driving 15 mins (seriously, that's it for an amazing meal from Bryce!). It felt like I was in Napa except that the buttes were over in the distance reminding us that we are still in UT. We shared the wedge salad and french onion soup. Both were excellent, and we were tempted to get another soup. I think we almost fought over that soup. I ordered the seafood special which was wild salmon over pickled veggies. I was so happy to see that it was wild coho, and it was delicious. I could've had it a little more rare, but it was still delicious. Perfectly seasoned with tasting salt! We shared pineapple cake and vanilla ice cream for dessert. I loved that the whipped cream was freshly whipped with toasted coconut. The dark chocolate sauce definitely was homemade. I can tell when the ingredients are fresh, and everything was fresh! The service was also really friendly and prompt. Because of COVID, it wasn't 100% bustling which I loved! It felt so peaceful that I didn't want to leave. The view on the patio is amazing and hope that next time we are there, we can snag one of those tables. Beautiful view on the patio. The only entree worth eating and paying for was the steak. The chicken picatta was about as appetizing and appealing as a microwaved TV dinner and the duck was tough and dry. Thank goodness for appetizers and dessert, the beet salad was very flavorful, and the onion soup was good, but the lavender sponge cake with lemon curd was the best dish of the night. Service was very friendly and attentive. If only the food matched up to the service and view it would have been a hit. Place is beautiful, the food was delicious, since we got there Trey recommended us the onion soup, and then again our server Amy so it was a definitely must, and it didn't disappoint, it was so good and cheesy. We also got the Rib-eye that comes with bright green broccoli and a soft buttery potato pure, so good. The duck was also good, plenty of flavors, highly recommend it if you're into duck. We were so full we unfortunately could not hang for dessert, we're a failure I know! This should be at the top of your "fine dining" list while in Bryce. Truthfully , I was not expecting or looking for fine dining in Bryce. My bad! Food was exceptional. I had the duck with spaghetti in red wine reduction. Wow. My friend got the filet. Tops. We got the beet ravioli (total misnomer, did not resemble ravioli in any way), but also wow. Very tasty stuff I cannot easily (or at all) recreate at home, which is usually my bar. Staff was incredibly friendly and gracious. Be warned, no liquor and no bar to grab a drink while you're waiting to be seated. I wanted an old fashioned or a perfect Manhattan something fierce. It's a little off the beaten path. After a day of hiking at Bryce Canyon, we were able to get dinner here October 11. We ate outside with a pleasant view, superb service. We had the pasta with duck, halibut with shrimp (so fresh and perfectly prepared.) a bottle of Pinot Noir. Great service. read more

What a fabulous experience last night at the Stone Hearth Grille. This is the second time for me, but the first time for my husband-a surprise in celebration of his bday. I chose this location because of its great food and beautiful location, and it did not disappoint. We arrived for our 6:15pm reservation, and were delightfully greeted by Max. We were seated and our server was Kaden, who was not only professional, but friendly and helpful, answering our questions without hesitation. The food was spot on-steak had that chargrill that we enjoy so much, and the halibut and shrimp were both cooked beautifully. The soup had a great flavor and was loaded with melted Gruyère cheese that stuck to the spoon in the best way. The chilled roasted carrot salad was seasoned well and paired well with the creaminess of the coconut cream. I noted that the avocado was fresh and perfectly ripe. The meal was finished with the rhubarb crisp topped with vanilla ice cream that was treated to us for my husband's birthday. I was happy to see that the quality that I had once found many years ago at the Grille still exists. We will definitely return for special date nights, and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for a dining experience with a view rather than the typical "close to a National Park" institutional fare. read more

What a lovely restaurant! We stayed at the Stone Canton Inn so naturally tried this beautiful grill. Wow did it surprise us. We liked it so much we came both nights we were in town. Night one we sat outside overlooking the canyon under twinkle lights with the sound of the fountain in the background and the fading sunlight in our sights. We shared the burrata and French onion soup! Both were delightful. Then we each had a steak. Both cooked perfectly and paired with broccolini and whipped potatoes with choice of sauce. Insider tip-get the rosemary butter and put half on your potatoes! Night two we were less hungry so opted for the house made bread, shrimp cocktail and onion soup again! All perfect! The shrimp cocktail is served with a tangy yuzu aioli that made me want to lick the plate. Service was spot on. Ambiance unmatched. 2 great date nights with my hubby! Compared to Springdale, UT (Zion) the fine dining options around Bryce are very limited. We used Yelp and found Stone Hearth Grille in nearby Tropic that looked like a more upscale place for dinner. It wasn't super busy so managed to snag seats at 5pm without reservations. Getting here was a bit of an adventure since you need to drive through a residential area, then a large school, and finally a sign at the end of the road pointing to the restaurant and adjoining hotel. The restaurant is very nice, like having dinner in somebody's home. Walls are adorned with gorgeous photos of Antelope and Bryce Canyons. They specialize in beef dishes - all grass fed. We had a great dinner here, so overall 4 stars! Beet Salad - It had the nice combo of beets, candied walnuts, feta and arugula with a nice vinaigrette dressing but I felt the salad was a bit uneven with too much arugula (3 stars) Filet - Wow, when cooked medium rare their 7-oz filet is amazingly soft, tender, and juicy. Deep pink inside, but no blood! The mushroom bordelaise sauce was an amazing condiment here. (5 stars) Salmon - The miso-glazed salmon had nice seasoning and was full of flavor. Its quite rich so eat with the mashed purple potatoes. Carrots were good, but wife felt the green beans were not as fresh or crispy. Still, very good salmon dish (4 stars) Desserts - We had a light lunch, but still two desserts are excessive, considering the portion size! The coconut-pineapple cake was too sweet (4 stars). Our preference was the dark chocolate torte (5 stars) which was surprisingly less rich and had nice balance of sweet and bitter. Great to enjoy with vanilla ice cream. Service from Kristen was great. You start driving out of town and think you've missed it. Not a big restaurant, so it can be difficult to get in. One night, totally booked, the next night was totally open. In late October, they were close to closing. Food was great. French onion soup was awesome, tasty onions and tons of cheese. Halibut and were perfect. Reservations are a must here. The food, service and views are amazing. Max was our server and did a great job. Most of the produce is grown locally; the meat is local too.
