This place is a gem in Jim Thorpe. Who knew that we would find this on our day trip. It was a Shinning star in the eatery choices in town. Power bowl was filling and so very fresh with sunflower hummus, YUM. If you don't choose this as your entree order the hummus appetizer. Kimberly, are wonderful server suggested focaccia bread, great match. Pasta dishes are well done, thick and creamy Basil sun dried tomato Alfredo. A cup of Black bean and carrot soup is a must. We will be back. Brunch Bloody Mary is home made with fresh ingredients, thanks again to Kimberly. Just go and eat you will love it! Food allergies are honored along with food preference. We stopped in on Saturday, October 30. The menu online was not what they were serving. They advised they were operating as a "pop up" restaurant this weekend. What does that mean? It meant that you had to go up to the bar, and order everything and pay for it there and then they brought it to you on paper plates and in foil carry out tins. The pumpkin soup was OK. My husband got baked nachos with pulled pork. They were very good. Myself and my friend got the veggie burger. It came with coleslaw which was very good, but the burger was totally disgusting, inedible and not even cooked. It was on homemade bread, not even toasted. They had a full bar, but they couldn't make a Bloody Mary for us. Basically we were upset that we wasted our time walking up the hill and going to this place after it had so many great reviews online. Stick with Molly Maguires. read more

Extremely disappointing. Based on some of the reviews, I was excited to try this place but it did not live up to expectations. Overall, the food is underwhelming and overpriced. From the $12 bowl of kids pasta that was barely warm, had nothing on it, and STALE...surely it can't be that hard to get this right. The $18 sandwiches were ok at best, flavor of the pork was pretty absent and they were very basic and small. Comes with a tiny portion of coleslaw...which was yummy. The only enjoyable dish was the hummus. Overall, the food was not impressive and for that price range your time and money is best spent elsewhere. Service was really not much better, I know post COVID it took somewhat a dive...but come on, we weren't even given menus nor QR codes when asked us to order. Just rough all the way thru. Let me preface this (long) review by saying 1. I am not one to write negative reviews especially not for local businesses. 2. I didn't even get the chance to actually eat at the Stone Row Pub and Eatery because our experience was so negative that we left as we were being taken back to get seated. My boyfriend and I arrived at the Stone Road Pub and Eatery after a long drive to Jim Thorpe very hungry and excited to try their very funky menu. Upon arrival we saw a piece of paper posted to the door that said no more than 15 people allowed in the waiting area. We quickly popped our heads in to put our name down on the waiting list and we were greeted by who we assumed to be the owner of the restaurant. She told us that the wait would be about 30 to 35 minutes. We then walked down the road to a little shop and we weren't even there for all of five minutes before we decided to go back and wait outside of Stone Row as we didn't want to miss our reservation. We found ourselves a little spot outside by the window and waited for our names to be called. We had to have been 10 feet or less away from the door. We watched the woman (once again who we assume to be the owner) come out a couple times and call names from the waitlist. We then decided to see if there was any waiting space inside as we had been waiting quite a while. We then found a spot inside and continued our wait. We could tell that they were having a pretty busy lunch rush and we didn't mind, we were waiting patiently. We then noticed that people who had put their names down on the waitlist after us were being called to be seated. I very kindly expressed to the woman (who we assume to be the owner) that we had been waiting for awhile and had put down our names well before some of the people who were being called to be seated. My expression of confusion clearly upset her, because I then started to get scolded by her because she apparently "had called our names for four minutes" (we had just watched her call a name off the waitlist two times and not even go outside to see if they were outside - but sure let's go with that "you called our name for four minutes") I continued to speak with kindness as I apologized to her and tried to explain to her that we were waiting just right outside and had not left the area for more than five minutes max (if even that) - she proceeded to speak over me and continue to scold me telling me "this is why people need to pay attention when they put their names down for reservations". As my boyfriend and I were tired and hungry we did not argue and allowed her to have her moment as we chalked it up to her being overwhelmed with the lunch rush. We were told we would be able to get seated and we would have to wait which we once again accepted with patience and kindness. She then returned about five minutes later telling us that she could get us seated but first, she wanted to make sure that we had scanned the QR code on our phone and had read the menu (we had watched her force people to pull up the QR code on their phone the entire time we had been waiting so this was no surprise to us). I promptly pulled up the menu on my phone as I had been looking at it the entire time we had been waiting. She then asked my boyfriend to show her the menu on his phone (as if two people can't look at a menu on one phone?) Although he had also been looking at the menu on his phone - his phone was having trouble loading the page. She proceeded to stand there and wait for him to pull the menu up as if he was in kindergarten while making remarks as if she didn't actually believe that we were looking at the menu? She did not stop this inquisition until he "proved" to her that he had looked on the menu by telling her that he was going to order the barbecue. Since we had finally proved to her that we were worthy enough to get seated she proceeded to take us back. This whole interaction left me feeling so strange that on our way to go back to the table and I said "I don't even think I want to eat here anymore" and we left. We would rather eat McDonald's then put our money in the pockets of someone who is so comfortable treating their patrons in such away. I understand that restaurant service can be stressful and that often times customer service in the restaurant business can be hard. I wish I could attach a video of the interaction so readers could truly understand how unsettling my interaction with this woman was. As a kind human being, since this interaction I have tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and excuse her behavior. However, every time I try I am brought to the same conclusion which is there is no excuse for the way we were treated. I am not sure who this woman thinks she is..? After this experience, my boyfriend and I decided to take our business to the Broadway Grille where we had exceptional food and we're treated not only with basic human decency but with kindness, I would suggest you do the same. read more

I can't count the number of times I have had dinner here, I consider myself a regular. The meals are delicious & worth the wait. I usually get the big thick burger on focaccia, it's a craving comfort, but sometimes opt for the chicken with curry . We really like their focaccia bread. It is gluten free, they make it from scratch so they do charge for it but you can't get gluten free bread at many restaurants, and if you did they would charge a lot more than $2 for it and it would probably not be freshly made. I have ordered gluten free bread at another restaurant only for it to come out hard and gritty. They commit to take out containers & disposable plates stating it's safer for people to eat there. This place was so great to eat in when my friends and I stayed at Jim Thorpe. As soon as you come in and you enter a narrow hallway with a staircase in front of you and a bell seated on a table. If you want to get one of the host attention (they're probably all upstairs) you just have to ring the bell. When they took us upstairs and got us seated we noticed that they have this huge white Butcher Block paper on the table along with crayons in a mason jar. Which is really nice because while you're waiting for your food to be made the whole table can be drawing pictures using the crayons. Which of course we all did! The food itself was really good. We even ask the waitress how much she would recommend of what depending on the portions and which meal she would recommend over another one. She was extremely helpful with everything and was super nice! The entire atmosphere was very welcoming in addition to the delicious food. So much so, that my friends and I came back the next day! "Wow" is all I can say. I highly recommend "The Stone Row Pub and Eatery". Simple, Elegant, Savory and Committed are the best words to describe this restaurant and its staff. The food feels like a hug...and the experience is like going to an old friend's for dinner: Relaxed, comfortable and Welcoming. I ordered: LOAFUS LENTILUS Maple roasted sweet potato lentil loaf w/caramelized onions, tomatoes, apples, oatmeal topped with red pepper chutney served with seasonal sautéed veggies. ($11.50) From the moment I took my first bite I knew I chose the perfect dish. It was fresh and interesting...a new twist on an old favorite: meatloaf. Less is more---it was exquisite! I highly recommend this dish and would drive back from Connecticut to have it again. My partner had: CHICKEN - sautéed boneless chicken breast with a mild curry, white wine, butter, Thai basil. Side of brown rice ($14.95) Nancy said she had never had chicken that was more moist, tender and flavorful than this. We later found out from the server (who was extremely attentive, informative and lovely) that the chicken is brined. The desserts are as well thought out and imaginative as the rest of the menu. I had the banana bread pudding (Nom Nom Nom) and Nan had the special orange infused chocolate ganache with a complimentary gourmet cookie on the side. The combination was outrageous. So... if you are ever near Jim Thorpe, PA or the Pocono Mountain area---I highly recommend making a point to go visit this very thoughtful restaurant dedicated to the craft of GOOD FOOD. What a delightful surprise! We were in town for a camping trip and found Stone Row Pub while searching for gluten free options. The menu is (I believe) completely gluten free, but to a gluten eater I doubt you'd know the difference! Focaccia bread, pasta, cupcakes, cakes.... The menu was great and I really had a hard time choosing just one selection! We opted for the pork sizzler that is served with the best kimchi I've ever had! For a restaurant that claims to care about food sensitivities they are prejudiced and nasty. Came in for a 5pm reservation, were not alerted of their "no outside food" policy when they called to confirm the reservation. We had an autistic teenager with a feeding disability in our party he had his own food in a thermos + own cutlery (adhering to their no nut policy) + (we came with a doctors note). The food was inspected and we were treated as if it they were doing us a favor to allow him to eat his food. We were rushed, menu and staff are pretentious and food was bland/flavorless. When leaving we stopped to talk to the owner about how it was overkill to make such a big deal about my son eating his food and giving him anxiety publicly embarrassing him in restaurant in front of the other patrons. Owner stated that "it's not her problem that he's disabled". Disgustingly rude !! Will be filing a complaint with the ADA! read more

Don't miss this delight in Jim Thorpe. We had no experience....just walked in from the street....holy moly....yum. From the moment we got there until we left we were taken care of. Good clean food. The menu is Amazing. Catering to those with food allergies, vegetarians, and I believe they have vegan delights too. We began with the soup of the day, white bean and sage. It was wonderful. I'm not found of salty soup and this was perfect. I ordered the power bowl (pictured above) my niece had the Millit burger and my other friends both had the hamburgers. All local farmed food. From the moment we got there until we left, we were taken care of. The beef bergs....needed nothing more than tomatoes and lettuce.....they both raved. The girls are vegetarians and were over the moon with the Millit burgers. My power bowl (pictured above) was delicious. Came with carrots, greens, hummus, kimchi, red peppers, black beans and brown rice. The presentation was beautiful and I would go back today and do it all over again. The owner and chef has a commitment to the planet that is apparent. Oh.... let's not forget the flowerless chocolate cake and choc/orange pudding. They were over the top delights and not over done with sugar accompanied with cold pressed coffee and I sipped hot ginger lemon tea. So, so perfect. Our waitress/barkeeper was very attentive and informative. We loved her. Had we of not met the owner, you may have thought she was. She is a gift. From the food, to the service.... 5 stars.... I'm a Jim Thorpe resident and have eaten at Stone Row many times over the years. They truly do not have anything on the menu that is not excellent. Tons of gluten-free and vegan options as well. I recommend the coffee without anything added. The wait times can be a little long, so as long as you know to expect that, it's a great experience. We were attracted to the place by it's unique menu; more interesting than the standard fare at other nearby joints. And by the restored ho0me that it is in; quite historic. Holly (the owner?), was alone in serving lunch on Friday 9/16/22 (with a chef in the back), since a colleague did not make it in. It didn't matter, her service was exemplary, very calm and organized. We started with the hard-boiled egg appetizer, which had home-made mayo and balsamic drip - excellent. My wife then had the BLT, made with a home-baked roll and home-made potato salad. Her chardonnay was good. I had the chicken salad pesto sandwich, with same roll and potato salad, and a local lager. Both were excellent. Roll was gluten-free, so much lighter than standrd fare. My partner and I came into town this week to re-charge. We were connected with the owners who held a fabulous private wine tasting for us and other visitors! We came for dinner the next night and received some of the best service we had every received from Holly. She was honest and so easy to talk to. She recommended a couple of decadent pairings such as the plant-based Parisian hot drinking chocolate with the chocolate stout to bring forward the flavors. The owners of this establishment were incredibly friendly, hospitable, and transparent from their food, their philosophy, and recommending places to go in town, 10/10. Stopped in for lunch and this restaurant made my whole day. I eat gluten free and it's rare for me to rave about eating out - places usually have 3 or 4 GF items to choose from on a menu and I'm lucky to love any of them. Stone Row offers an entirely gluten free menu and not only did I find it delicious but so did my (normal diet eating) family. The staff is wonderful and the chef really cares about creating delicious food that is safe to eat. Late lunch on a Saturday: went to this place for the first time ever since it had good reviews on yelp. That being said, we (boyfriend and I)were welcomed by a really over zealous Host/Stand-In Manager named Corey. Corey kept calling me "m'lady" and insisted on holding a seat out for me and he insisted that he would make the best choices for me. In a way, he focused on catering to my needs as a woman while completely ignoring the fact my boyfriend was a paying customer as well. Needless to say, we ordered our very healthy meal, and to my dismay, I did NOT love gluten free pasta. I expressed this to Corey, who proceeded to rant about his Italian grandmother and how he knew what good pasta was. I told him, "I personally liked my pasta to have protein in it." To which he responded "Well, at least it doesnt have bleach from flour." Having my degree in chemistry, I tried to explain to him, that it doesn't work this way. He responded "It has no bleach, it is healthier, that is all I have to say" and walked away from me. Now, our waitress (Trisha) was wonderful, prompt, and understanding. Heard our complaints but obviously there was nothing she could do since it was her manager. The restaurant is in a rather narrow row home, where a narrow hallway serves as the entrance/exit. When we went to leave, Corey was standing in the hallway talking to another customer for about 3 minutes, completely oblivious that he was blocking the only exit. When he finally moved, we were able to exit the restaurant, but then Corey proceeded to follow us outside onto the street. He wanted "criticism" since he was a new manager. And I told him he was over zealous, to which he replied "Thank You!" No, sir. This is not a compliment. He went on about how he is like a slumdog millionare and rose from the ashes. Keep in mind, we are still in front of the pub. I said, "Sir, you are bold, cut me off, pretended to know more about chemistry than me and left it at that" He admitted he didnt know much about Chemistry. He wanted to try to make amends by pulling out his personal wallet and offering us a 20 dollar bill. We denied it. He tried again to give us the money so we wouldn't give a bad review. We denied it again. The point is, the food was sub par. The drinks were great, the service was fine. The manager was unprofessional and needs assistance. We understand that a manager's job is to make sure the customers are comfortable and pleased with the service, but this manager did not make us feel comfortable at all. Went there after a bike ride today with a friend. Parking is non-existent so park by the train parking lot or on a cross street. Seating was limited due to staffing issues but the waitress was very kind. She offered a good stout beer which we enjoyed. The menu is limited but what they do is great. what an amazing find! this is a small quaint restaurant we went to after biking thru beautiful Jim Thorpe and we are thrilled! The food is amazing and very very fresh. Everything was made to order! The menu, though small offers unique items. The green tea w/ shot of ginger was amazing! The service also was perfect. The best part was the owner / chef came out and asked how everything was, and she asked our opinions on the food etc. This made us feel so good, people actually care about customers opinions and reactions. One odd note, we went on a Sunday and Jim Thorpe was packed, we ate @ the front near the front desk, I noticed they turned away a staggering amount of business ( they close early on Sundays ) in fact it was so many turn aways, they finally put a closed sign up. My point is, as buisness owner myslef, extend your hours during peek tourist season, your missing out on alot of money! The young man handling the front dor ( blonde hair ) should handle turning people away in a more professional way, he was sorta making excuses up instead of saying we already did our last seating or that we close early on Sundays. it was odd @ best. One thing we do not expect in Jim Thorpe (or anywhere in Carbon or Schuylkill County) is vegan eats. But we love this historic, revitalized (and very vertical) town and visit anyway. My ancestors lived here, so I feel connected. Thanks to Yelp, we found this place, formerly the Black Bread Cafe, which we enjoyed long ago when we were dating. But oh wow, is the new one so much better. About half the menu is marked with a green leaf symbol which means vegetarian-and-sometimes-vegan. Make sure to ask. Many gluten-free options too. And plenty of meat for the carnivores. But Stone Row is truly vegan-friendly due to the many dishes that we want to come back for, and they are creative, cool things that we might not think to make at home, like raw sunflower hummus. The food is hearty comfort food with healthy modern twists. My maple lentil sweet potato loaf came out in a cute box with a ton of tender grilled vegetables and fruit. My spouse's millet burger on focaccia bread had him raving -- and it even had a creamy vegan potato salad with it. Clearly, plant-based food is not just an afterthought or a pain for the owners. This is so appreciated. You will not have to ask to have something specially made, which we hate doing. Here, they put it on the menu, and you can find it online and check it out it before you come: exactly the right idea. It's not worth my hard-earned cash to spend it on *but-we-can-make-you-something* places where you know you are creating headaches for the kitchen and waitstaff, and it is no fun to negotiate alterations in front of co-workers. The chefs were just testing a very rich chocolate orange mousse when we were there. We had a sample, oh my. Another thing well done, since many restaurants that claim to be veg-friendly don't have any desserts but fruit. Now we can't wait to go back to this town even sooner. They even offer breakfast. AND they were open on a Monday. Friendly sweet service at all levels. We will try the upstairs bar next time. Oh yes, there's also a high quality microbrew list. I forgot to look at the wines. We could NOT get phone service here to check in online (whole area is sketchy this way), but they do offer free wifi. read more

Given the quality of the reviews we thought this would be a great place, but it was just ok. I had the carbonara which was served with penne. The penne was fine; I'd prefer spaghetti for traditional carbonara, but I can get over that. But, the sauce was saucy and garlicky and didn't at all remind me of carbonara in consistency or taste! And, no bread. My husband had the lentil oaf which was supposed to have sweet potatoes and maple syrup, but we couldn't taste either. And, OMG, the lentil loaf was SO dry. That said, the grilled vegetables on the side were deliciously cooked and flavored! We shared a chocolate mousse for desert which was rich and tasty. The waitress turned us off with the way she treated our party of 7. She looked down on us and was rude. She was not polite when we asked for a different chair for our table because one chair was super high and uncomfortable. When asked if she would mind switching it out with another chair she rolled her eyes. We were speechless. She explained if another party comes in to dine she would need the chairs for them but she rolled her eyes and said she would do it anyway. Then when she was taking our order she made a comment about the bread being so expensive because of the ingredients and that it was home made. Insinuating we may not be familiar with fine dining. She basically judged us perhaps because we were wearing casual clothing or because we were not regulars. Despite her behavior we just smiled and dealt with her. The food and pricing was fair. The owner came out to ask us how we found the restaurant and she was polite. We frequently go out to eat and appreciate fine cuisine. We would not return after the way we were treated. I can say we were seated quickly but I noticed immediately you could cut the pretentiousness in this place with a knife. Menu was extremely limited. I got the burger. The meat was low quality, small, and unseasoned. The homemade bread was the same flavor and consistency of a two day old kfc biscuit and not much bigger. The "kimchi" was just boiled cabbage with spices on it. The potato salad was lumpy mashed potatoes and barely edible. I asked for ketchup and was told I should try the burger first because it didn't need ketchup. It needed ketchup, I never got it anyway. They refuse to split checks too. So this is small place off the beaten path. We stopped for a drink and something to eat. I ordered the Bloody Mary and I have to say honestly it was worst Bloody Mary I've had ever. Way too salty, but I paid for it so I choked it down. The menu does discriminate against meat eaters, meat options are few and over priced. The place had an air of pretentiousness. They waitress sat two guys right next to us even though the place was empty. This place reminds me slightly of other small town eateries where they revel in their own echo chambers about how special they are. This place isn't. Wow! Stayed in Jim Thorpe and ate dinner here. Super selection of all gluten free dishes. Even if you aren't gluten free, you will find superb dishes to appease your appetite. Everything we ate...hummus to salad to chicken to the lentil loaf (yes!) was awesome! Great selection of drinks and brews too..even had a gluten free beer! Try it and you will love this restaurant. The restaurant is in a house. There are approximately 10 tables so it's small and quaint. The waitress was knowledgeable about the food and was very nice. I ordered the chili, which was a special. It was delicious. We also had the cleopatra salad with grilled chicken (Ceasars salad), black bean soup and sunflower hummus. Everything was really good but slightly different from the norm. Came here after a beautiful day of bike riding in Jim Thorpe Park. We stumbled upon this while looking for a healthy place to eat that would accommodate allergy friendly and vegetarian eating. It's a super cute ambience with delicious healthy food options. The chef, who is amazing, came by to speak with us about specifics about our dietary needs and was so accommodating and kind about it. Can't praise this place enough. The food was absolutely delicious. The homemade kimchi side, the dressing, deviled eggs, and power bowl was just incredible. Would absolutely come here again when visiting the area! read more
