Fantastic clean eating with the bonus of being VERY allergy friendly!! My mom and I truly enjoyed every bite of our meals, even spoke with the chef for a bit to express our appreciation. Highly recommend whenever you come to Jim Thorpe. The Bangkok Bowl especially was phenomenal. It does have a nice kick to it as well. We have eaten here several times in the past and found the food and service very good, however a recent visit on a Saturday evening in September, 2024, found the food average, and the service poor. We were graciously seated upstairs, then found the service staff slow and inattentive. The low point came when one of our party spilled their drink. The staff offered no help - in fact, they seemed to ignore us while we struggled to find extra towels to wipe up, then dispose of the soaked tablecloth. Incredibly unprofessional. The meal continued with slow service from a multitude of inattentive staff. The food here is normally wonderful, but we found it bland and unimaginative for a restaurant that prides itself on fresh-made dishes. This place was absolutely amazing.. we were a party of 4 with NO reservation and they took us in. The menu is daily. this restaurant is perfect for those who have food restrictions/allergies. We ordered the comic cosmo so yummy, the pinot Grigio was great and Josh Cabernet never disappoints, for our drinks. The appetizers we ordered was the artisian bread and the Korean pork tacos. The taste was amazing. The pesto on the bread just right. Perfect portions. Entrees- we had fume mac (Mac n cheese) with pulled pork delicious, cauliflower gnocchi with pesto and king oyster shiitake mushrooms phenomenal, mustard glazed salmon made just right, Thai chicken was perfect. Endless in ordering the chocolate orange ganache, very smooth, rich and definitely taste of the orange and pumpkin. The owner/chef was on the floor greeting and talking to every table. She was a delight to talk with and very knowledgeable about why and how things are made. We do not hav any food restrictions or allergies, we enjoyed just great tasteful food.. We were scanning menus online looking for something our son would eat and saw they had his favorite, buttered noodles and parmesan cheese. A simple decision that ended up leading to an all around awesome meal for everyone. Everything we ordered was outstanding, my husband has been ranting about the korean tacos for days. Even my picky son tasted the deconstruction samosas and loved them, which was unexpected. The sunflower hummus was just what I needed to pick me up after a long day on the water. We went for lunch and got the BLT and burger. The biscuit the sandwiches were on was delicious and the burger had a great chargrilled taste.

So I'm not sure I should even write this right now, because I'm so annoyed by a relatively small thing, but they let me walk out unsatisfied so... The restaurant is adorable. We had a nice dinner. The menu is contemporary and the drinks were excellent. Great bartenders. Apparently the owner is the chef, or so I was told. I got a steak salad, which was pretty good. The steak was a bit tough and a bit thick for a salad, but no biggie there. My friend had a burger. She seemed happy with it except they only had yellow mustard, which yeah, is not a great choice to have in an upscale type place. No splitting of a check at all. One credit card, that's it. This is not the part that annoyed me. What annoyed me was that when I got our check, which had 2 cocktails, an appetizer, and 2 full entrees, I saw that they charged me $1.00 for a tablespoon or two of dressing. Like I'm in McDonalds getting an extra BBQ sauce for my chicken nuggets. What? Wait a second. You gave me a tiny bit for my large salad in the first place, and looking at it you'd see it's not enough. At least TELL someone you are adding a charge, and please don't tell me it's a "side". And then argue about it. No manager because the owner is the chef and she's not coming out for that. It was so petty and shortsighted. My family and I were wandering through Jim Thorpe, looking for a place to eat, and we stumbled upon a sandwich board on the main road with an a menu that said "allergy friendly" at the bottom. So we followed the address and walked into a restaurant that didn't look like very much from the floor level, and an apologetic Hostess that they had a limited menu and to check it out before we sat down. When we sat down, we were blown away by the quality of the food, completely gluten-free kitchen, and all of the food correctly and carefully labeled for food allergies. My son is highly allergic to egg and wheat, and we had a very traumatic experience the day before with a local organic restaurant who did not disclose egg in a hidden ingredient and we had an emergency at the location. It was the best allergy, free, homemade bread my son had ever had, and the service and food was world class. Highly highly recommend!! read more

I hesitate writing this after reading the glowing reviews that made us choose this place. But hopefully this is helpful to someone else. We chose to eat here because my husband and I LOVE a good farm to table, seasonal restaurant. And the pictures looked delightful. When we checked the menu for the day, we did see it was super limited, but with the style of this restaurant that didn't deter us. It should have. Before anything else, I am extremely offput that their plateware is all single use. They use actual glassware and silverware, however. They're paper and what look like possibly wood material plates, so theoretically things that are compostable but still a monumental amount of unnecessary waste. Food, for the price and style, was remarkably average. For a place that lets you know both loudly at the front door, and loudly on their menu, that they "do not deep fry so go somewhere else if you want that," they sure aren't afraid of oil. We ordered the artisan bread, which was 4$, and found it to be not only a tiny, muffin-sized portion, but it was absolutely DROWNING in olive oil. There was a puddle in the plate, and it seeped into every crevice. It's one thing to give you bread and a dish of oil to dip it in, it's another thing entirely to take out the middleman and just put it in the oil. The blt biscuit was fine, bread was good. My husband got the BBQ sandwich, which was also a monsoon of juices and oil when he bit into it. You are not brought an actual check to see your itemized receipt, just hand off your card to pay on an iPad, and overall service was average. I hesitate always to critique service because I'm not a boomer and the service industry is TOUGH, but it was really impersonal (we just got a "what can I get you to drink" without any introduction or greeting). So, eat at your risk. It definitely fit the "inauthentic, cycle the tourists in and out" vibe of the rest of the town at least. read more

This place was amazing! It's a street up from the main drag and be sure to walk up there!! Tons of delicious vegan options even the soup of the day was vegan; white bean. And delicious. We also had an order of hummus which was so obviously home made and flavorful. I had the lentil loaf with roasted veggies and wow. It was amazing! So flavorful and the veggies were obviously fresh. He had the pesto pasta and added Samoas to the top and the pasta was wonderful. He said the samoas were nice and spicy as they were advertised. They did have two vegan deserts but we were stuffed! Yeah, umm, wow. This place is amazing! The restaurant is definitely off the beaten path, and is literally mixed in with a bunch of old houses, but totally worth the find! Upon entering we were greeted with warmth and smiles! We were 6 strong (4 kids and 2 adults) and it took them only a few moments for them to set up our table. The ambiance is quaint and cozy. Would probably be a great date spot, if it weren't for the loud kids. Oh wait, those were ours. :-) Our host was so polite he even pulled out the chairs for our ladies to sit in. Chivalry is NOT dead! We were lucky enough to get Rob as our server. Talk about an awesome dude. Listened to our desires, and gave amazing recommendations. He gave special attention to all of our kids, and made sure that he put their order(s) in first. I ordered a seasonal beer, and Rob realized that they were out and recommended something different. I opted for a "Dark and Stormy" instead. Shout to the bar staff, their drink was on point! We started with the deviled eggs for an appetizer, which my wife swears are the best she's ever had. Not sure what makes them so creamy, but would love to get the recipe. The kitchen timed it perfectly to where the eggs came out with the kids food. The kids ate so much that we ended up ordering 2 extra kids' plates (and it's not that the portion was small, the food was just really good!). My wife ordered the chicken dinner which is somewhat Thai inspired, and is cooked in and served in a really great flavored curry sauce. I ordered the carbonara (added chicken for some more protein) which was good, but needed a pinch of salt and pepper - not a big deal. A word of caution though, it comes out pipping hot! I was so excited to dig in, I burnt my tongue. Oops!! To round out the meal, and because everything else was so good, why not have dessert? Because I'm a huge fan of bananas and bread pudding, the banana bread pudding was right up my alley. It certainly was tasty, this time I was warned that it was hot. It was a little out of the ordinary as it had some oatmeal in it. It wasn't a bad addition, just not something you usually see in a bread pudding. My only wish is that it came with a little ice cream or some sort of sauce to hype it up a bit. I'm hesitant to give negative reviews since these may hurt small businesses but this was a very awkward experience and should be shared. The waitress although seemingly delightful, was not a good person to service your guests. Asked if we could change a chair because it was ridiculously high for the table and the eyes rolled, along with a "we can't" before finally agreeing to swap it out for one that fit the table. The food was good but not great as one would expect from the "snooty" behavior presented by the waitress. We had a group of 7, including 3 children and were presented a check that already had a 22% gratuity included? Who does that? It's almost like they're accepting the fact that the waiting service is subpar and to be honest quite disrespectful when seemingly judging their guests. This place should NOT be considered a "pub", there's no beer on tap........ The owner was quite delightful and needs to consider who she has representing her business. read more

If this could be zero stars i would give zero. This was a very disappointing visit. The menu is different than posted online and you are presented with a "live" menu that seems to be based on what ingredients are left over from the prior sessions. You will have to use a QR code menu in reception to see what is available and read from your phones. The Menu was difficult to follow and figure out choices. We ordered for 6 people and our food was so bland it had us laughing at the table in disbelief. Texture, quality and taste all lacking. This was not a "pub" experience. This is a food kitchen that is hiding behind the guise of a pub but is a vegan based style that is struggling to be something different with poor choices of food cooking styles and low quality ingredients. Instead making guests food that inspires, it implodes on lack of substance and culinary creativity. The food was good and portion sizes just right. The establishment is on a quaint street and without much of a waiting space. It consists of four small dining rooms that are tastefully gone. It has a full bar and a good selection of food including ample vegetarian items that are really tasty. All in all a good experience. P.S. I personally had the divine soup of the day, a potato, leek, bacon, cheese creation that was heavenly. For my entree I enjoyed the grilled salmon and vegetables that was to die for. One of the best pieces of salmon I've ever tasted, grilled to perfection. My friend had a burger served on homemade focaccia bread, OMG-WOWWWWW. As a New Yorker, I was blown away by how affordable this meal was. Do not let the word Pub in the name of this hidden gem fool you-you won't find stale fish and chips or chicken wings here. This is a treasure chest of food options inspired by a woman who truly cares for each and every one of her customers. Margaret is not usually on the floor serving guests, but was training an employee and we were so very fortunate to have her serve us and recommend each dish and genuinely care for our safety and well being in terms of allergies or intolerance. We stopped in over the weekend to sit at the bar for a couple of drinks and an appetizer. I was told by the greeter that she had to check to see if that was ok and mentioned we would only be able to sit at the bar for drinks since it was a busy weekend , I said fine , no problem. She left me there and never came back. At least 10 mins passed . Then another woman asked Me if I needed to put my name in , I said I was just waiting to see if we just have a drink at the bar while the first woman stood there and listen. Every time I've dined here, I've been impressed. Food and service are all excellent, and it's a great place for vegans. "Samosas" are nothing like the Indian dish, but still delicious. Sunflower hummus and rice points are great. The Cleopatra salad is my favorite. Loafus Lentilus and pesto pasta are solid entree choices. I wish they'd go back to serving the silky, fruity vegan chocolate mousse they used to have. It tasted like Christmas. The apple spice cake and bread pudding are not bad, but not really great either, imo. The cran-apple moonshine is my new very favorite winter drink. I love that it comes in a mason jar. read more

Extremely disappointing. Based on some of the reviews, I was excited to try this place but it did not live up to expectations. Overall, the food is underwhelming and overpriced. From the $12 bowl of kids pasta that was barely warm, had nothing on it, and STALE...surely it can't be that hard to get this right. The $18 sandwiches were ok at best, flavor of the pork was pretty absent and they were very basic and small. Comes with a tiny portion of coleslaw...which was yummy. The only enjoyable dish was the hummus. Overall, the food was not impressive and for that price range your time and money is best spent elsewhere. Service was really not much better, I know post COVID it took somewhat a dive...but come on, we weren't even given menus nor QR codes when asked us to order. Just rough all the way thru. Let me preface this (long) review by saying 1. I am not one to write negative reviews especially not for local businesses. 2. I didn't even get the chance to actually eat at the Stone Row Pub and Eatery because our experience was so negative that we left as we were being taken back to get seated. My boyfriend and I arrived at the Stone Road Pub and Eatery after a long drive to Jim Thorpe very hungry and excited to try their very funky menu. Upon arrival we saw a piece of paper posted to the door that said no more than 15 people allowed in the waiting area. We quickly popped our heads in to put our name down on the waiting list and we were greeted by who we assumed to be the owner of the restaurant. She told us that the wait would be about 30 to 35 minutes. We then walked down the road to a little shop and we weren't even there for all of five minutes before we decided to go back and wait outside of Stone Row as we didn't want to miss our reservation. We found ourselves a little spot outside by the window and waited for our names to be called. We had to have been 10 feet or less away from the door. We watched the woman (once again who we assume to be the owner) come out a couple times and call names from the waitlist. We then decided to see if there was any waiting space inside as we had been waiting quite a while. We then found a spot inside and continued our wait. We could tell that they were having a pretty busy lunch rush and we didn't mind, we were waiting patiently. We then noticed that people who had put their names down on the waitlist after us were being called to be seated. I very kindly expressed to the woman (who we assume to be the owner) that we had been waiting for awhile and had put down our names well before some of the people who were being called to be seated. My expression of confusion clearly upset her, because I then started to get scolded by her because she apparently "had called our names for four minutes" (we had just watched her call a name off the waitlist two times and not even go outside to see if they were outside - but sure let's go with that "you called our name for four minutes") I continued to speak with kindness as I apologized to her and tried to explain to her that we were waiting just right outside and had not left the area for more than five minutes max (if even that) - she proceeded to speak over me and continue to scold me telling me "this is why people need to pay attention when they put their names down for reservations". As my boyfriend and I were tired and hungry we did not argue and allowed her to have her moment as we chalked it up to her being overwhelmed with the lunch rush. We were told we would be able to get seated and we would have to wait which we once again accepted with patience and kindness. She then returned about five minutes later telling us that she could get us seated but first, she wanted to make sure that we had scanned the QR code on our phone and had read the menu (we had watched her force people to pull up the QR code on their phone the entire time we had been waiting so this was no surprise to us). I promptly pulled up the menu on my phone as I had been looking at it the entire time we had been waiting. She then asked my boyfriend to show her the menu on his phone (as if two people can't look at a menu on one phone?) Although he had also been looking at the menu on his phone - his phone was having trouble loading the page. She proceeded to stand there and wait for him to pull the menu up as if he was in kindergarten while making remarks as if she didn't actually believe that we were looking at the menu? She did not stop this inquisition until he "proved" to her that he had looked on the menu by telling her that he was going to order the barbecue. Since we had finally proved to her that we were worthy enough to get seated she proceeded to take us back. This whole interaction left me feeling so strange that on our way to go back to the table and I said "I don't even think I want to eat here anymore" and we left. We would rather eat McDonald's then put our money in the pockets of someone who is so comfortable treating their patrons in such away. I understand that restaurant service can be stressful and that often times customer service in the restaurant business can be hard. I wish I could attach a video of the interaction so readers could truly understand how unsettling my interaction with this woman was. As a kind human being, since this interaction I have tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and excuse her behavior. However, every time I try I am brought to the same conclusion which is there is no excuse for the way we were treated. I am not sure who this woman thinks she is..? After this experience, my boyfriend and I decided to take our business to the Broadway Grille where we had exceptional food and we're treated not only with basic human decency but with kindness, I would suggest you do the same. read more

We were taken to a great table and Kelly, our waitress was on point greeting us. I ordered the Korean bbq pulled pork Tacos and my wife ordered a salad with a perfectly cooked piece of salmon. We were Looking for somewhere where a group with 5 little humans could get a bite. I'm a huge fan of real/clean food. I was a bit nervous but this place turned out to be the perfect fit. From the devil eggs to the power bowl (don't forget to order the bread). My little one had the homemade Mac and cheese and ate every bit. My husband ordered a lentil loaf thing and wow he enjoyed it. The chef is top notch. She made everything taste amazing even tho it was gluten-free. Ya that's right gluten-free.
