South Bay is gettin' some more love! Joining the line up of the amazing restaurants have been opening up lately in the South Bay is Stonefire Grill! Joining the other So Cal locations is this one in Torrance. It's located at Rolling Hills Plaza; the former location of Macaroni Grill. I recently came for their soft opening and it was a wonderful experience. The location is huge and they've got lots of folks eager to serve. Food is ordered up front and after ordering they provide a buzzer for you. This buzzer allows servers to know where you are sitting and then they will bring the food out to you. The menu consists of pizza, pasta, sandwiches, signature salads, grill items and sides. They also have a wine and beer selection as well as some dessert offerings. It's definitely a good place to eat at a meal at especially if you're with family or a large group. They've got petite servings (serves 1), small servings (serves 1-2), medium servings (serves 3-4) and large servings (serves 4-6). I noticed a lot of folks getting pizzas, salads and sandwiches. It was the grill section that caught my eye however. From the grill, they got chicken, tri-tip, ribs, sea bass, salmon and baby back ribs! You can get items as a la carte or as a meal. All meals include a salad, small side item and 2 freshly baked breadsticks. Tri-tips come with mesquite bbq or pepper garlic topped with gorgonzola butter. For chicken you can get it as mesquite bbq or lemon garlic. As for salmon, you have choice of lemon garlic or sesame glazed. I chose to get the lemon garlic boneless chicken breast and mesquite bbq tri-tip with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. It was hearty and yummy! Equal in deliciousness were their freshly baked breadsticks! As for desserts, they've got their signature carrot cake, heavenly cheesecake, famous fudge brownies and cookie. I got to sample the cake, cheesecake and brownies. All were delicious but it was the carrot cake that won my heart. It's awesome to see Stonefire Grill here in the South Bay. They'e got a good selection of eats and I noticed as well that their prices are affordable. Prices range from $6.99 -$23.29. It all depends on whether you want something small or sharable. Every time we visit this location, I'm always impressed at how organized and professional everybody is. My coworkers organized a birthday celebration here for me and my friends years ago and they went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. The food was delicious and everybody had a great time! Fast forward to this year and I had the chance to eat the yummiest pesto pasta at Taste of CAMS. I am happy to learn that they continue to make high quality food. Not only that, to find out that they support our school makes them a true gem in the community. read more

Superb service! Everyone working here had such a pleasant attitude. It was like walking in an alternate universe. As we explored the menu in line, a person greeted us and explained how Stonefire grill works to us, newbies. Coleman took our order and was a delight to speak to. He suggested a plate off the secret menu which included all three meats: tri tip, ribs and chicken. Their meal on the menu only offers two of the meats not all three. Then, we were given a buzzer and we were able to grab our own utensils and seats. I ordered my tri tip medium rare and the meat came out really bloody so they were nice enough to cook it a little longer. Coleman apologized for the delay in food so he offered us a cookie! So nice! We had my sisters 44th birthday here. The ambiance was beautiful with the brown wood and their choice of lighting. Very welcoming. When you walk in you have to place your order at the front counter and then find your own table which I found a bit inconvenient for the fact that we had arrived 15 min before our party and wanted to secure a table. So my hunny and I ordered drinks so we could hold a table. When our party arrived we had gotten menus from the front so we could all order at the same time and the food would come together. They don't have actual like restaurant menus they are paper which is off putting. The food was just eh honestly. I got the salmon plate which comes with only 1 side so I had to purchase other sides individually, So I got the garlic mashed potatoes and the Mac n cheese. The Mac and cheese was terrible! No flavor and really very little like cheese sauce no actual shredded cheese. The garlic mashed potatoes had huge chunks of garlic and were not mashed well at all. My hunny liked his food he got the bbq chicken and the same sides but thought they were very bland as well. Kids love pizza so a friday night for pizza and beer sounded good. Nice inside, but we sat on the patio with our little monsters. service was good. So we waited a few minutes to order our food, then got a table pretty fast. food came to our table real fast. ordered a pizza, a salad, bread sticks, and grilled veggies. all the food tasted good. though they did put cilantro on my pizza and i asked for no cilantro, but no big deal. veggies were good, salad was good and a good size for being a small. easy shared for two. a large pizza was good for two adults and two kids. Grilled veggie platter was good size and lots of food on it for around $10. also had a glass of wine and a beer. Came here for lunch during their soft opening event. The wait was a bit long but it was worth it. We ordered tri tip meal, salmon meal, 1/2 slab BBQ ribs, meat sauce pasta and grill sea bass. Everything was delicious except the bbq ribs. The kids loved the tri tip the most. I would definitely recommend getting this dish. We also got an order of grilled veggies which was very fresh and good. Service was excellent. They kept on checking to make sure all the food has arrived correctly. Torrance Food Crawl #328 StoneFire Grill has ten (soon to be eleven) locations, with this Torrance location just opening a few weeks ago. You order when first going in and the food will be delivered to your table when ready. There is a nice variety of choices, including child and family meal options. From their grill menu I selected the meal option. My entree was the 1/2 pound Salmon fillet with a lemon & garlic dressing. The salmon was good and there was no skimping on the garlic cloves, which is fine with me. The 8 oz size (1/2 pound) was just about right, a full pound probably would just be too much. The salmon was good but the taste was a little on the mild side, something common to places many miles away from where the salmon was caught. With the meal option one can have one small side item, or one of four salads, Garden, Caesar, Cartwheel, or Greek. I went with the Caesar Salad which was fine. I saw someone else's order of a Cartwheel Salad and thought the mix of vegetables looked very appealing and I think next time I'll have to try that. There were two Garlic Breadsticks on the side. A little on the soft side for me, but tasty. I also opted for a side of Nutty Coleslaw, which basically is coleslaw with added peanuts. There were plenty of peanuts which added to the cool crunch of all the cabbage. Good. Service was very attentive. There were several people checking to see if I had finished any dishes. Initially I was momentarily confused about the drinks and utensils. The soft drink machines are in the corner. My first time here (and likely last). I expected a sit down restaurant - not order at a counter staring up at a large menu with a line of people behind grumbling we were taking too long to order. As a result I only ordered a salad. Then we were told to be seated and wait for our food. Only problem was most of the tables and the floor around them was covered with dirty dishes and trash and we saw no one cleaning up. Frankly the place resembled a pig sty. Appetite killer!! My salad was delivered. Tasteless dressing. I ate about 1/4th and called it a night. Garlic bread was delivered to our table but tasted like it was used as a stirring rod in a vat of butter. Looked nice, tasted terrible. I suppose there was something else on the menu I could have ordered but it's like sitting in the front row of a theatre looking up at the screen. First time at a STONEFIRE Grill. Place was clean and nice size booths. Not a fan of "order before you sit" makes you feel rushed to make a decision when people are standing behind you. I don't know if they have handheld menus to look at more closely before you walk up to order. I at least didn't see any. Had a lunch special BBQ Beef Sandwich & small side of garlic mashed potatoes. Beef was tender but BBQ sauce very bland. Garlic mash was ok. I will return one more time to try something else before I can decide if I like this place. The bbq chop salad is my go to for myself. If 3 of us, then we'll get the Tri tip, upgrade the salad to bbq, and a pizza. This place is a great restaurant for family meals. The portions are huge (I ordered their mac and cheese, to-goed the leftovers, and ate it for an extra four meals). You order at the counter and get all your utensils and plates, but they'll bring the food out to wherever you're sitting. We ordered the mac and cheese and tritip sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes. Highly recommend the mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese was good, but definitely not the best I've had. Second visit here and this time they were on point. My wife and I built our own small salads. She started with mixed greens and added black olives, cucumbers, green peppers, tomatoes, cilantro with chili lime vinaigrette with tri-tip. I ordered the chopped greens with black olives, cucumber egg, cilantro, tomatoes with Dijon mustard dressing also with tri-tip. We paired our lunch with their house Chardonnay. The salad was huge and the tri-tip was prepared perfectly. The tri-tip was tender and tasty. On our first visit, the tri-tip was over cooked and missed the mark but this time they mailed it. Well I ordered via my "doordash app" the following: Lunch Special- 9" Pepperoni with Ceasar Salad (Extra Dressing) and "Boy was this a struggle"- all on doordash's end- I finally received my order on the 4th driver- it took myself chatting online with a doordash rep and having her call the restaurant- while I was on chat- she talked to James H. (who I told her to ask for- since he knew about my order and issues- I have confirmation on my end of my order(s) but nothing shows up restaurants end). Then Christine from doordash comes back on chat and types- all is good- your order is being prepared now- Yay! Moments later I call the restaurant and say- give my regards to James! Once I received the order from driver Lisa- opened the bag- nice size pizza, petite salad (granted I finished it- but it's a good size for 2) and my added bonus of "breadsticks" in their bag. Spacious restaurant that offers solid food. Family and I come here at least once a month but consistency is their biggest weakness. First off, love their pizzas. We actually get the largest size just so we can have leftovers to munch on later. Typically get the BBQ chicken pizza but most of their offerings are solid. Solid toppings as well as a very tasty crust. Other items good for sharing or doing family style are the ribs and the salads. We're a fan of the Italian salad and a small is definitely enough for a small group to share. About the consistency - there's a few things we consistently run into. We used to get tri-tip but we stopped because... well they just can't do it right. It's always overdone. There's a problem with bringing the food out on time as well. The most recent visit, we got our ribs, salads, and even our dessert before our pizza came out. [Review #442] 2019 Yelp 100 Challenge (94/100) I first became familiar with Stonefire Grill through a YEE a couple of months ago, & I planned to visit the local restaurant with my family. My BFF blew into town this past Thursday so it was a definite opportune occasion to take him out to dinner! =) The restaurant is located in the busy Rolling Hills Plaza, anchored by AMC, TJ's, WFM. The parking lot was quite full for a weekday night but we managed to secure a couple of spots within a hundred feet or so. The restaurant was also jammin' with customers. We were warmly greeted & I thought we would be seated... instead Stonefire Grill's MO is to order 1st, seat yourself with a pager & your meal will be brought to you. Hmmm... interesting concept... so I wondered if service would be an issue since it forces you to tip before you're served (I tip based on service, & I'm generous if it's fantabulous)? I did the basic 15% since this was my initial visit. I was hoping to see my pal, Kevin; either he wasn't working or he's busy in a different section. I didn't realize that you're also suppose to pick-up your utensils & napkins by the soda fountain. Luckily, our server who brought our 1st course seem to realize that we're newbs, brought the place settings on his next round/our 2nd course. We enjoyed a delish family style meal: SIGNATURE PIZZA (homemade pesto, avocado, red onion, mozzarella, feta cheese, fresh basil); PESTO RIGATONI; CHICKEN & RIBS for 2 SPECIAL: BBQ Chopped Salad (mixed greens, black beans, roasted corn, carrots, red cabbage, cilantro, Jack cheese, tortilla strips, tomato, scallions, buttermilk ranch), 1/2 Slab Baby Back Ribs w/BBQ Sauce, 1/2 Lemon Garlic Chicken; 1/2 slice of INCREDIBLE CARROT CAKE. Our dinner came out in an evenly paced/steady stream, starting with breadsticks. These were as fantastic as the 1st time... piping hot, crisp, & doughy (not heavy dough but more cloud-like fluffy. Salad came 1st, then the ribs, followed by the chicken. This salad was cool & crunchy, loaded with flavor & texture (no wonder it's so popular), & properly dressed; the ribs were perfect -- moist & tender, just the right amount of sauce; parts of the chicken was a tad on the dry side, & the lemon garlic sat on top instead of being infused into the meat (I'm not sure if the chicken was marinated long enough because it was more surface flavor). Pasta & pizza followed shortly... & these were favs of the Elites at my table as with my dinner guests! There's a reason why it's their "signature" pizza! Superb crust & great flavor combination... so, so savory... that I salivate when I see this deliciousness! =)~ H loved the pasta; she's a big fan of pesto so she inhaled a couple of servings! We were nearly done with our meal & I wondered how/when we will receive the carrot cake since the pager was removed after the last entrée was served. I sent H to the register to inquire if our dessert can be served. The carrot cake is truly incredible! Loads of fresh grated carrots with just the right amount of frosting, a tasty way to end a yummy dinner! Not a fan of some of the self-service because it would be an issue for me since I have a couple of LOs. I would have to drag them around the restaurant to pick-up our place setting, drinks, etc. even though it has the atmosphere of a sit-down restaurant. No no and no! It was my mistake to go there. It's like food court with high price. Way too overpriced for the taste and all utensils, even to go boxes you have to bring it from places. My friend ordered meat and it was ok tenderness but feel like it's fake meat. She also ordered grilled onion dip but it was just mayonnaise with grilled onions and I only tasted a bit. I didn't feel I want to touch it anymore. I ordered veggie pizza and kale salad. Kale salad was ok but nothing special. Veggie pizza was boring and very small amount of cheese. You enter the restaurant and you order right there. Then you grab utensils, water(they give you a small plastic cup where you ordered the food), plates, napkins and ketchup. So one of the things I look forward to on the weekends are going out to eat. Tonight we picked this place. There was nobody ordering (you order at the register before seating yourselves). We weren't even greeted by the man standing there at the register. So when we we ordering I started ordering first and he shouted "dining in or take out?" No "hello" nothing. We all started ordering one by one and he never asked for a phone number for rewards. So I asked him and he said "wait. I have to start all over again". Such attitude Malichi (so?)! It's clear from the time we walked in and while he's taking our order that he doesn't enjoy his job and didn't want to be there. Go find another job if so. Maybe because I came on a Saturday, the tri tip that they're known for came out either pretty rare or too well done. I ordered the signature bbq tri tip salad and the chicken tortilla soup. The salad was pretty good, nothing too "wow" about. The soup however~ the blandest chicken tortilla soup I have tasted thus far. No salt or pepper or hot sauce can save this. You order your food first and pay for it, then you find a seat after. I would have asked to swap my soup out but no one came by soo.. just decided to forgo it. I love this place I literally ate it two days in a row because it just made me happy -happy! The mash potatoes were 10/10 didn't need gravy or anything else in my opinion! It was fluffy and flavorful! The salmon was so mouthwatering I was full but wanted more! I usually don't like garlic in big pieces like that but the ones on this meal hit different! Staff was friendly and very polite. I am had really no idea what to expect and that's the best food adventure for me. In most cases I / we go into a place ie: cantina , bistro or an iconic experience with some idea what Lane so to speak we're going to be in . This afternoon there was a group of us send somebody had called out Stonefire Grill and we were like yes give us something new park the car please! Let's get a point here, ( StoneFire Grill) as I walked in and saw the menu sitting atop a counter in front of me, kind of like walking into a fast food restaurant , that was intriguing. Legible, understandable , and distinctive no doubt in its placement , the menu had everything that you would enjoy ; from a steak and potatoes restaurant or a vegan and pescatarian Restuarants. And I had a little bit of everything w the crew. To sum this up because we had quite a few dishes; the salmon fillet which was excellent, a little bit of a seasoning added. in addition we ordered some mashed potatoes, bean soup w soft tender shredded meat, I do forget the name of that bowl , but it was shared and yummy. 2 separate chicken breasts one w/o skin those were excellent. Surprise, garlic sticks for the table ! I believe split those and we took them home. The table shared / ordered a large salad, an organic healthy salad quinoa and other organic ingredients Lastly, fresh steamed veggie medley . I can't speak for all the stone fire Grill's Restuarants, but I do know the one in Torrance was very clean I saw a lot of vocal families there also I have seen parties up to 15-20seated comfortably , it is a big restaurant. the prices are right where they need to be it's not cheap the food is organic fresh wild those are keys and what to look for for the nutrients. I wouldn't expect any lower prices in a restaurant that serves what I consider to be very enjoyable American style food but with a very large range for all different types of diets This restaurant get five stars why, why would I do this? Our party had approximately four people in it and as I was venturing through the different wings at the restaurant and the food will just kept coming on stop different dishes everyone in the staff there was asking me what I need anything could I get some help when I was at the beverage counter people ask me what would you need how can I help you when I was walking and I get the wandering eyes I see who's kind of catching me in immediately I think with the manager behind me the kitchen still counter said what can I get for you I said some to go To boxes. I actually love this place. These days it's hard to eat at a sit down restaurant without feeling broke afterwards. Stonefire is one of the few places that has good food, generous portions, and a homey atmosphere without robbing you of all your $$. They have "petite" sizes that are probably nit all thay petite. My bro friend got a petite pesto pasta (daang that alliteration doe) and he couldn't finish it. I, myself, was pretty confused with how generous even a petite portion was. My fav is the steak and cheese sandwich. It's so simple but has so much flavor and it's now my go-to item whenever I drop by this place. read more
