However, I do feel as if it is a little overpriced for what we got, I would have loved to get more food but I just simply couldn't afford it. Sorry, the concept and the execution are flawed. Points to the young staff, who kept a good attitude and worked extra hard to be helpful the whole time. First - the concept - they want a casual-dining restaurant with a broad menu that runs like a fast food restaurant (order at the counter, food brought to the table). It doesn't work. There were about 15 people looking at the menu trying to figure out what to order jamming up the counterspace. the counter staff were periodically slammed trying to move people through once they had decided (the orders are long and complex, remember) and standing around idly. I'm not a restaurant guy, but I eat out a lot and I've never seen someplace with this complex a menu that orders this way. Next - the execution - our food came out somewhat haphazardly, and the prep was haphazard as well (the bun on my burger was fridge-cold, the counter missed a salad order). And it just wasn't very good. We had a half-rack of ribs and a cheeseburger (supposed to be 2 salads, we got one). The ribs weren't Johnny Reb quality - not even Chicago for Ribs quality. The burger (cold bun aside) was fine - but basically a Five Guys burger. So for a half-rack, a cheeseburger, and one salad, plus two cheap glasses of wine, we paid over $40 - so it's not a screaming bargain either. Fix the ordering process; Bump the quality of the food; Orchestrate the food delivery and timing...and it'll be a pretty good place. read more

The stimulus package deal, tri tip or chicken, pizza, salad and breadsticks for 4 all for $24.99 might be the best deal ever, seriously. And this location in the previous Ramanos space is way nice with tables spread FAR apart and lots of booths. Very relaxing ambiance. Oh and the entire staff looked to be kids in their 20s and they were all super friendly and super professional. So happy to have found an affordable weekly go to for my family. Yesterday my family was craving some nice hot, creamy, cheesy Mac and cheese because of how cold and windy it was. My sister placed an order for two of the largest portions of Mac and cheese along with tri-tip and breadsticks. The tri-tip and breadsticks were both really good (although some pieces of tri-tip were unbelievably chewy). The big issue was with the Mac and cheese is there was barely any cheese. The little bit of cheese sauce was good but there was hardly any cheese sauce, which made the entire dish incredibly bland. After viewing photos on social media and reading other reviews, we decided to stop and give this place a try for lunch today. From the moment you walk in, the place smells delicious!!! The large menu made it a bit tough to decide!! However, the nice gentleman at the counter helped answer all of our questions which helped make ordering easy for us. You pay at the counter, your provided a buzzer to put on your table for food delivery, given cups to get your drinks in the back at the self serve drink station as well as where you pick up silverware/plates (for shareable items) etc. We ordered breadsticks with marinara, ribs and tri-tip combo, bbq beef sandwich and a steak n cheese sandwich along with garlic mashed potatoes and a cauliflower salad. Let me just say it was all very tasty!! The tri-tip is phenomenal!! My only real complaint and the reason for the 4 stars, my husbands full meal was delivered to the table and my daughters as well as mine, came out about 15 minutes later. We came to have lunch as a family and with how the food was delivered, it made it hard to do so or my husbands food would have been cold. Will this stop us from returning? NO! When they first opened, their food was great, but the quality and care of their food has gone down hill in the past couple years. The only thing that kept us coming back, was that we could sit outside on the back patio with our pup as we ate. However, we were there last Sunday (April 10, 2022) for lunch, and one of the servers told us the restaurant is under new management, and dogs are no longer permitted on the patio. Buh-bye! I noted varying reviews here on Yelp. I started to notice a pattern with the bad review folks. Each of them failed to tell StoneFire what the problem was. The measure of a restaurant includes what measures a restaurant will take to rectify a problem or mistake. If you don't tell them then YOU are the problem, not the restaurant. We went to this establishment on a Tuesday at 4:00. It was almost empty but filled during our stay. The prices were surprisingly fair and the food was good. I mean relaxingly good. And lots of it. The server was attentive and friendly. The place was COLD. I mean REALLY COLD. We chuckled as we watched customers come in dressed for Colorado instead of SoCal like they expected it. No problem, we had a nice meal and added it to our regular Go To list. We will be back soon as we really enjoyed the tri-tip, Hawaiian pizza, bread sticks, and Caesar salad. When first walking in you are greeted by the staff and they explain how things work here so you go up to the counter and place your order then you find your open table. Drinks are self serve as well as napkins and utensils. They bring your food pretty fast. They have lots of workers walking around so if you need anything you can flag one down. I got the Caesar salad w/ pasta I didnt know which sauce I wanted so the gal recommended to do half and half so i did marinara and pesto which was good so you don't get overwhelmed with just one unless you are fine with it. They have three to four sizes to choose from for portion wise. I got the single serving size. Growing up in the south, we pride ourselves on hospitality and family is everything to us. If you get invited over someone's house and they have cooked and offer you a plate, out of respect you take a plate whether you're hungry or just ate. So this review is specifically for the late lunch time hours at this location. If you go around 1:00pm - 3:00pm, beware of consistency/freshness issues. The bread sticks (which to me are the main draw) have not been fresh the three times we have come during this time. We had the basket brought to the table returned for some fresh ones, but the second round was only slightly better. The Salmon was also not fresh and the Caesar Salad was way over dressed. Usually dinner time and on weekends when its packed, it is fine. Our thinking is that they have no choice but to prepare fresh food for the many orders, so in all likelihood your meal will be fresh in the evenings. We have tested this theory out and it seems to be the case. Also, the restaurant during the later lunch hours was full of tables that needed to be bused and cleared. The food here is good but not great, so when I return, It will only be during dinner time or weekends. Staff is friendly though! read more

in fairness, i have had good food at various stonefire locations in the past, but last night was a disappointing exception (torrance location). we had the salmon with sesame sauce. it was very overcooked and dried out. the sauce couldn't make up for it. the caesar salad was also too dry, not chilled, and not enough dressing.. the "new" dish, chicken alfredo, did not have the sauce mixed in, and the chicken was in small dried out little pieces.. breadsticks, and drinks ok. carrot cake always tastes good except way too much frosting. service was good i'm sure we will have better luck next time if we avoid all the above. read more

This was the old Macaroni Grill building and our first chance to try Stone fire grill. When we arrived it looked like it was crowded and we had to park pretty deep in the lot. Turns out most of those people were elsewhere. So the system is order then sit and they bring your food. Serve yourself drinks and condiments so I guess it qualifies as self serve. The line wasn't too long but it dragged on for about 15 minutes. There were 2 of 5 registers open and a 3rd register looked like she opened it when she felt like it. She would take an order then dissapear. I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. My wife ordered the pesto chicken sandwich with garlic mashed potatoes. We also ordered the small beans to share. First thing I noticed was the bread tasted old and dry, borderline stale and the taste of the meat was quite bland at best, that may be because there was very little meat. The garlic mashed was also a bit dry but the flavor was ok. The beans were pretty good but not great. My wife's sandwich was toasted and she said it looked like chabata but didn't taste like it. It also tasted stale. But the chicken was good and she ate most of that. I wouldn't say it was a lot of food but for the price I guess it was fair. As it's mostly self serve I don't see a need for tipping as they do nothing more than MacDonald's so that's what I left. I have the feeling this location is not representative of the business model because the quality was too low. Perhaps they will find the problem and fix it. Not a bad place but the corporate vibe is odd and off-putting. It's more of a catering establishment than an actual restaurant. The tipping policy is weird since they expect you to order and pay up-front like a fast food restaurant. I checked Glassdoor - the tips are evenly distributed across the entire service staff. The lack of individual incentive creates an impersonal experience, but everyone is still super-nice, they just act more like catering staff than actual waiters and waitresses. If you are OK with those caveats, I will say that the overall dining experience is fine, similar to a more modern, corporate version of Hometown Buffet or King's Table (but without the actual buffet, I'm saying all the food has that same predictable uniformity). You go stand in the middle of the restaurant like an idiot to try to find seats. 7. Once you finally sit down... You have to get up to go and get your own silverware and drinks... ( I'm ok with this if they had given me a table) 8. They start bringing you food that you didn't order and that belongs to tables around you. (the last time I was there they brought three wrong orders to our table) ~ Their GPS trackers must not be GPSing 9. There are servers but you have to hunt them down to get things like salad dressing... We had to ask three different people to get some ranch 10. By the time the food came I was over it.... If this restaurant is so desperate to eliminate the order taking job then they should have put some iPads at the tables and let people order their food like you do at stacked and a bunch of other restaurants. I love the salads here. They serve good portions and taste great. One change they should make is try to reduce the amount of plastic they use with takeouts!
