They have clearly marked vegan and vegetarian items on their menu! This particular location is the only Stonefire I have ever been to, so my review is based on this location alone. It reminds me a bit of macaroni grill mixed with claim jumper, but definitely better quality food than both of those places. I've had the cauliflower pita which was absolutely delicious, the Quinoa which was a little bit lemony so it wasn't just plain quinoa, the veggie pizza with no cheese, and the butternut squash soup. All were really good! The pizza has pretty large edges though, so the veggies are just right in the middle of the pizza. I was OK with that only because of how delicious the edges were. Crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. Prices are pretty reasonable. I've eaten here twice and both times I called my orders to go. The orders were always correct and ready when I arrived. I would like to dine in for lunch sometime soon to get that experience as well. I definitely recommend this Stonefire Grill! read more

My boyfriend and I had just came back from a weekend of camping at Channel Islands. It was borderline backpacking so we had a lot dehydrated meals and non perishables. We were craving REAL food like fresh veggies and meat. Funny enough my boyfriend really wanted a place with salad and I wanted bbq. The heavens were kind that evening as one of the top yelp options was this place. Looking at the menu, I was in disbelief. You mean I don't have to compromise?? A friend of mine turned me on to Stonefire Grill's carrot cake and now it's my favorite thing! I stopped in at this restaurant just to do a to-go order of some of their cake. It was convenient that they have a separate entrance and counter for to-go orders and the woman who helped me was friendly and upbeat. Since it was just cake, my order was ready in about 5-10 minutes and I was out the door. Two full slices of cake weigh about a ton!! OMG! And a full slice is $6 and tastes way better than what I usually get at my local grocery store (which is very good cake too btw, it's a reasonably high bar). Anyway, this restaurant is very clean and tidy and located right off the 101. Easy to find, and I'd eat here myself if I wasn't just stopping in for cake. All the food is either good or fine, and you get large portions. I ordered the medium rare tri-tip with the pepper garlic topped with gorgonzola butter, the bread sticks and the garlic mashed potatoes. The tri-tip tasted pretty good and was not overcooked. I wasn't a big fan of the topping, but the meat itself was quite tender and juicy. I was surprised to learn that they didn't have A1 sauce...but they did have sriracha? I found that to be a bit odd. The bread sticks and the mashed potatoes, both flavor- and texture-wise, were just fine; nothing to write home about. There was plenty of seating, and the layout is such that you can see into the kitchen, which gave the place a nice smell and made it feel more integrated overall. Maybe even three if you mind your protein intake and eat more veggies and salad. Plain breadsticks are decent. Mashed potatoes are decent. Take-away service is excellent and the staff is lovely. BAD: Coleslaw is covered in a vinegar and oil type dressing (or something like it) and it is soaked. This is not coleslaw in the traditional sense. Skip it. "Sandy's Cookies" for dessert are AWFUL. Stale, hard as a rock, taste like either that old freezer burn or just plain stale. They are extremely hard. AVOID THE COOKIE. Overall, not bad for cheap eats. Fantastic spot for dinner! Not only was the restaurant nice and clean but the service was phenomenal. Ordered a trip tip plate with beans and mashed potatoes and a Cobb salad. Cobb salad was a pleasant surprise with a light dressing and fresh bite! TRI tip was great along with the mashed potatoes which is a must I must say, but the beans weren't our favorite. We just had them to the side when the manager Jason came up and asked how everything was, we mentioned not being fans of them but weren't looking for any freebies. He offered to replace them with something else and ended up bringing out a piece of carrot cake instead. This place is absolutely the best. Second time here and my belly is as happy as the first time. The food is simply delicious, fresh and perfectly cooked. Their portions are quite generous, too. Our table had ordered ribs, tritip, chicken, pizza and pasta and everything was flavorful. I'm not a pizza person but theirs is impossible not to like. The crust is just tight and had the right amount of sauce. The veggies on it (the works) were so thinly sliced that even my teenager noticed and appreciate it. And then there's dessert, hands down the best carrot cake I've eaten. So fresh, so moist, so tasty. I ate half and brought the other half home. Not only was the food comforting but the service was great. Everyone was so helpful and genuinely kind. I also appreciated seeing the pictures of the family on the walls. Service was good. Food was ok. Roasted Turkey Club was good, the bacon was amazing and the pesto sauce inside was good, I'd order with extra sauce if I order again. The Tomesto pasta ( 1/2 marinara, 1/2 pesto) was not great. I would compare it to cafeteria food. Maybe it's microwaved frozen pasta or something. The restaurant smelled weird, like a mix of bathroom and barbecue. Too bad, considering it's a very good vibe inside. Nice lighting and comfy seats. Would probably just order pickup from now on. I went to Stonefire for a date night dinner with my wife on Friday night. I ordered half barbecue ribs and tri-tip. My wife ordered the Cobb salad. The ribs and tri-tip was delicious. The Cobb salad on the other hand was more dressing, then salad. It was very hard to eat and we both couldn't finish it because it was so drenched in salad dressing. You could see all the salad dressing pooling up at the very bottom of the bowl in which the salad came in. I talked with the floor manager by the name of Jesus and he agreed with our assessment. He was very accommodating and very sympathetic to our dinner. Without hesitation he replaced our salad with a different one and wanted to help save our meal. This was the worst experience I've ever had. The place has gone down hill. First we were interrupted three times by an old man who couldn't figure out how to use his phone for a discount. Then the counter person left in the middle of taking our order so she could help him. Second, the ice tea was cloudy and too strong, third we had to search the entire dining room to find a clean table and finally they got my husbands order wrong and it had to be sent back. My first visit to Stonefire won't be the last. I had no idea what to expect when I arrived last weekend, so I was surprised when I found out you had to order up front. Kind of like Presto Pasta for the BBQ crowd. I felt a bit rushed looking at the menu since we had people behind us, but thankfully my friend had been there before and was able to point out some options. We decided to get a meal for two, which included 4 pieces of sliced tri-tip & babyback ribs (a total of 5) and one side, I thought we got two sides, so I chose chili beans & then Sandy was going to order veggies and they told her the meal only came with one. Our total came to $23 and that included drinks. Everything is self serve minus the food being served to you, so we got our plates, silverware, & napkins , as well as our drinks at the machines. The tri-tip melted in my mouth, so so good I hated to take the last bite because I wanted more, and the ribs had plenty of meat on them, though it was not fall off the bone tender., but still good. After thinking about it, Sandy decided to go back to get a side of vegetables, grilled tomatoes, peppers, zucchini cane on a small silver pizza pan, it was so tasty! I enjoyed the chili beans, Sandy didn't, she said they reminded her of cowboy beans and she's not a fan of those, I myself loved the taste and enjoyed the pieces of steak throughout it. We devoured our BBQ Chopped Salad, Asian Salad, Cauliflower Salad and I had to try a pepperoni pizza. Walked around to spy on tables of ribs, fish, salads, pizzas and happy families. All the servers I talked to were friendly, helpful and working hard to keep the place clean and orders moving. Our food was all well prepared, tasty and reasonable. What a disappointment, especially compared to the location in the SFV: I had to repeat my order 4 times because the young lady at the takeout counter just wasn't getting it. The wait was ridiculous for 4:30 in the afternoon; the customers before me got a free cake for their delayed order. When I finally got my order, I had to again ask for BBQ sauce and plasticware. This particular Stonefire Grill is a little smaller than most of the other locations that I have been to. One thing that I found to be a little bit of an issue here is that they do not have a menu board or menus standing from the floor to look at when you order as in the other locations. You have to pick up a paper menu to see what the offerings are. The food, of course, is absolutely the same throughout the chain. They have a number of excellent dishes to choose from, but my absolute favorite dish here is the lemon garlic chicken. It's smothered in pieces of garlic, so don't go for this unless you really like garlic! read more

Today my coworker and I visited the grand opening of Stonefire Grill, in Ventura. The overall layout of the store is different than the Westlake location in Thousand Oaks. I am eliminating one star due to the fact that there is no outside dinning seating as to why I enjoy the Westlake location, beside the food. To your left is the 'Togo area' and that line is separate than the 'dining-in' line. Since it was lunch time, I kept it simple and ordered a BBQ Tri-tip salad from the lunch menu, which came with one piece of bread for under $8. My salad was large and I couldn't complete it. All of the employees were very friendly and attentive. Overall our experience was good, there was plenty of parking and lots to do in that shopping center: Barnes and Noble, Kohl's, Pier1 Imports, Starbucks and a FroYo shop, so we will definitely be back to have some carrot cake and a Tri-tip meal on our next visit. read more

Not what we were hoping for. We lived in Santa Clarita years ago and LOVED the Stonefire there. Not sure if it was the menu changes or what but seemed more like a quick version of Woodranch but with their prices. We waited for a few weeks to give it a try because we know anything new in Ventura will be overwhelmed and crazy. Well, this place was still crazy. Not sure if it is the restaurant layout but we waited 20+ minutes in line to order and then 20+ minutes to get our food. The place was so busy you had to wait 2-3 minutes just to refill your cup. The food seemed just standard. We got 2 kids meals, a BBQ chicken meal which hubby said the chicken was tender and garlic mashed potatoes were good, he's easily appeased. We got the roasted cauliflower which seemed like a cool idea. It was okay. It was an entire head of cauliflower. Maybe if they cut it in half then seasoned and roasted it would have been a bit better....or even bite size pieces. I don't know. The center seemed to not be fully cooked. We were looking forward to a new go to place so close to home, we could walk...but we haven't been back again and not sure we will unless we have out of town visitors who give us no other options. read more

Love the food, the service, the menu and everything about this place. The salads are fresh and flavorful and the other dishes are great as well. My only issue is that the tri tip (which used to be one of my favorite items) seems to be very tough these days. The last two time I could not cut it with a knife, which was disappointing.
