This place never disappoints. We frequent this location often for our team lunches and I even have menu favorites. Our servers are always knowledgeable and very patient with our sometimes indecisive tendencies. The food is always perfect to taste and I never leave disappointed nor still hungry. This particular visit I got the NY strip, which was cooked to perfection. I paired it with creamed spinach and the Mac n cheese. Personally, two of the best side dishes they offer. This spot is ideal for lunches related to business but also a great date night spot. Parking is plentiful and free -- which is a huge plus for those who know what parking is like in Atlanta. Best dinner I EVER had! They brought out a carafe of water with no ice in it which I thought was very smart as there was no sweating all over the table. The water itself was ice cold & I thought I was going to be in for a treat. I ordered the French onion soup which was excellent. I then had the Prime Rib which was cooked to perfection and it melted in my mouth. Had the 1lb baked potato with everything on it and it was delicious. Service was top notch with an excellent atmosphere in the restaurant. Not often is everything so perfect when dining out but this place was a 5 star experience. Not a bad place to eat. The decor is a little dated and the drinks are just ok. Prices are what you would expect for the Cumberland area. The highest priced steak is $45 and is the Ribeye(bone in). The food is subpar at Stoney River Cumberland location. Nothing was prepared to order and you may need to send it back a couple of times but don't expect it to be fresh, it will be whatever you sent back. (not rocket science). A veggie burger that is made in-house came to the table twice, once lukewarm, and returned with a microwave uneatable bun. My husband's dish of the day was lukewarm, we arrived at 5 pm, and nobody was in the restaurant, so why it was not cooked to order I don't know. I do know that eating out is expensive and when we patronize an establishment they should treat the patronage with decent food. The waitress was super nice she did her best to make it right, but when dinner is messed up, there is no real right. I will not visit there again. Worst $100 I have ever spent in my life. read more

The service is trash. I sat at the bar and was barely acknowledged the whole time. I had to ask for and wait on bread (the main reason i come) and when it came there were only 2 pieces. Later I ask for more and was told there were done making bread for the night...an hour and a half before closing time. I was there more than an hour and was never able to order an entree. This place was great. We walked right in and was seated immediately on a Friday afternoon around 1:00pm. We ordered the deviled eggs for an app without the bacon and they were so so good. Then came the rolls. I generally skip bread and specially when I order a sandwich but something told me to try. Omg. I shouldn't have started. I think these are the best I've had in a long tine. Small yeast rolls that you can't stop eating. Of course we had to get some to go. My sister had the Bistro chicken with caramelized mashed potatoes. Yum and I ordered the veggie burger with broccoli. This is a huge burger. It was actually 3 servings for me. The large amount of broccoli probably help fill me up too. This burger was moist and fresh. A great tasting well cooked burger. After looking forward to great meal, I was very disappointed. It make it short and sweet. The French onion soup was way to salty and the service sucked. I let the server know about the soup and he appeared to care less. I asked him to tell the Chef, which I am sure he didn't. You would think a member of management would come over and apologize, but no one ever came over. If I was the restaurant, I would have removed it from the bill. As for the service. Our server had no personality and acted like a robot. It was my daughters birthday dinner and I wanted her to have a nice experience. Had big plans on trying a couple of items on the menu but it didn't work out that way!!! Ordered the egg rolls and the wedge salad my way and it was wrap!!! The egg rolls were a steak and cheese wonderland in my mouth. And wedge was huge and filled me up where as I couldn't even order my food and didn't want to get anything to go as it looses its quality when warmed. Didn't want to run the risk. Hunter greeted us and got our water and then..... Jason. I think he may have had too many tables this evening or was just off his game. He didn't seem to be able to operate to fluidly. None the less I'd come back and try some additional items. Thinking about the menu I don't remember seeing any pasta on there. I ordered for pick up on my way home from work. Pick up time was 4:58 arrived at 5PM. Had never eaten here before. The food was good, however cold. I'm less than15min from the restaurant. My mash potatoes were a brick, I could pick the whole container of it up with a fork. The hostess wasn't very friendly but the server that brought my food to me was very nice and polite. OMG I love this restaurant, indeed this was my Friday time here. The food was delicious. I started off with the house salad which was amazing. This held me over until my main dish came. The main dish came out right after I was finished with my salad. This place isn't stingy when it comes to food. My mash potatoes were piled up like i was eating for two . They gave me a lot of asparagus, and to top that off they gave me 3 large chicken breast breaded with parmesan cheese Tomatoes /peas. What a great steakhouse. A great go-to spot for business lunches and date nights. The steak is always cooked to perfection to your preference and the complimentary bread or "donuts" are to die for! What a shocker. After years of having a love affair with J. Alexanders, I thought it would be interesting to check out a different restaurant under the J. Alexander's umbrella. The parent company, J. Alexander's Holdings, also owns Stoney River Steakhouse. I figured the quality and service would certainly be on par with J. Alexander's, but I was sadly mistaken. Let's start with the good. The interior of the restaurant is quite nice with dark finishes and dim lighting. The ambiance would be suitable for a romantic dinner or an evening out with friends. The staff was quite friendly and seated us within a few minutes. And finally, since the restaurant is located at Cumberland Mall, there is certainly ample parking. While the staff was extremely kind and polite, they were noticeably absent throughout the meal! After our server took our order, he was nowhere to be found! During the meal, he only managed to check up on us one time!! I have provided pictures of our empty glasses that were sitting on the table throughout the meal. We had to constantly ask for our drinks and water glasses to be refilled! The complimentary rolls deserve their own paragraph. First of all, we weren't offered any until we flagged down a manager who promptly brought them to the table. I want to point out that she was extremely kind and courteous. However, we would have been better off without them. They had a terrible flavor that didn't even remotely resemble dinner rolls. To make matters worse, the accompanying butter was hard as a rock and virtually impossible to use without a stone cutter. I opted for the prime rib. Since this is supposed to be a step up from J. Alexander's, I expected much better. I was very surprised that this wasn't even close to the quality and flavor of J. Alexander's. My wife's fish didn't fare much better, as it also paled in comparison to the quality and flavor of the sister restaurant. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the french fries. I am a hardcore, diehard, self proclaimed french fry aficionado. J. Alexander's has some of the best fries ever conceived. I was expecting at least the same quality here, if not better. But I wound up with some luke warm, hardened, flavorless french fries! I couldn't believe what was happening!!! This place did not even remotely resemble J. Alexander's!! We had the opportunity to speak to the manager and the chef. They honestly could not have been nicer. And the ambiance definitely makes the grade. But my recommendation is that the service and food could be dramatically improved simply using the wonderful role model within their own restaurant group - J. Alexander's. It is my hope that they will step things up so the restaurant is more on par with the incredible experience that I have had at the namesake of their company - J. Alexander's. read more

Stoney river is located in cumberland mall. I found parking right in-front of the restaurant. I walked in on a Friday night an hour before closing time with a couple friends to have dinner. Service: Service is great, they check on you while eating and water is topped even before the glass is empty. Food: I like this place because they have killer appetizers, i usually get the deviled eggs and the steak egg rolls but this time i opted for the steak egg rolls its usually serving of six and is served with this sauce thats great.They are very delicious and a must try. The rolls the restaurant provide are good as well and is served with a honey cinnamon butter. Why 3 stars: The main entrees were disappointing i dont know if its because we walked in close to closing time but I was embarrassed I talked my friends into having dinner there, because they all didn't like their food.I ordered the jumbo shrimp entree and substituted the fries with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. Pros on the food: Mac and cheese is heavenly, its a blend of 3 cheeses, the jumbo fried shrimp is pretty good as well and is a lot of shrimp. Cons on the food: spinach with seabass was salty, rice that came with pan red fish was salty, mashed potatoes were cold and dry. We ordered the tuna stack appetizer ($15), salmon with mushrooms and jasmine rice ($21), and the rib eye with asparagus ($33). Jasmine rice was flavorful, but was a tad bit salty for my taste. The rib eye was ordered medium rare, slightly more medium than rare, and was cooked perfectly! Overall the food was excellent. Tried the Southern Peach and Paint it Black cocktails. Delicious! Visited Stoney River on a Saturday evening. Although we had a 8:15pm reservation, we still had to wait almost 15 minutes before being seated. My food was not very warm when brought to the table and the sauce for the chicken was extremely salty. The mash potatoes had good flavor but we're barely warm.
