I'm new to Syracuse dining, I sat at the bar, the service was trash, the food was really good and the wine selection was pleasant. However, I was treated like I was a nobody as the bartender catered to the regulars. Needless to say, I live down the street and I don't plan on going back. The bartender actually tossed the check to me and didn't say thank you for coming or anything! I always tip 20-30% because I've been in the business for 15 years and I was trained in fine dining in NYC for 12. I'd like to refer to that place the classiest dive bar I've ever been to. I gave and extra star from 1 to 2 because the food is actually really nice but, the service at the bar at least was boring, it's more like the bartender is just a worker and not a server. Well, that my honest review, I'm nothing will change so I pretty much just wasted my time. Verdict; go somewhere else. read more

Went for lunch. Were told we could not have a lunch menu because they were preparing for evening events and could only give us a dinner menu. (Wish they had told us this when we previously called to check if we needed lunch reservations). Paid over $71 plus tip for 4 people (no drinks except water). Later looked at their lunch menu online. Three of the four meals we ordered were actually on the lunch menu, at a lower price. Wish the management had offered us that option - we would have saved $12 and had a reason to return in the future. read more

Our server was Destiny, the service was slow but I wasn't complaining. We had our dinner ,then the bill came I paid it and left a good tip . Was ready to leave and another waiter named Ron ask me if everything was alright ?? I said yes .. this guy started indirectly attacking me by making comments like my upper lip was moving and I didn't look happy , he also made condescending comments like he couldn't believe my sister was my sister because we didn't look at all a like .. of course telling me no offense but that is exactly what he was doing . This waiter Ron had no business addressing me or my family . If I had a problem I would of said something. I didn't have a problem till Ron approached our table . This guy ruined our night out . It was my daughter's 21 birthday . I just buried my 24 year old son last week who use to work at this restaurant that is why we wanted to go there tonight . Never again . .. It truly is a pity that I could not give this place more stars. The food was wonderful, our server was professional, we had a great dinner with great wine and great company... but witnessed a few things that completely ruined our dining experience. All of these were focally centered around a man named Keith, who in all my years of dining I have not found a more unprofessional individual responsible for "managing" a service team. The first misstep occurred when my wife informed him that her $32 dollar filet was overcooked, which to preface, she is the LAST person that would complain without just cause. We dine out frequently, and all over the country, so when she orders something RARE and it comes out MED, it is visually evident. We understand that mistakes are made, especially with a smaller cut of meat. But he scoffed at her, getting visibly agitated by the the request for a new cut. Asked "So what do you want me to do?"... the answer we both thought should have gone without question... "re-cook it". After the initial encounter, we felt rubbed the wrong way and were curious if it was just an unfortunate encounter or if that is just how "Keith" treats people. We proceeded to watch him as he moved throughout the restaurant verbally abusing the staff, on the floor and in service stations, all within earshot of paying customers. At one point, it looked like he was struggling to maintain balance, face flush as if he was drunk or under the influence of drugs. We decided to let it go and try to enjoy our meals. We ended up honestly just wanting to leave after a point, having been made to feel uncomfortable and sorrowful for the rest of the service team. All in all, this restaurant deserves a better leader. With food and an atmosphere worthy of 4/5 stars, I could not justify that because of your "Keith", and I can't imagine that I am the first to feel this way. The only thing going for this place is the actual visual atmosphere. The nightmare started out when the first thing the server pitched to me was "Can I get you anything else to drink besides water?" AH! That's one of the ugliest and insulting questions you can pose to your table upon greeting. I was horrified. The lobster tempura and fried calamari were incredibly bland. The server's knowledge of the wine list was minimal at best. The Chicken Neptune, after recommended, was completely lackluster and we sent it back without desire for anything further. The shrimp scampi was basically pasta with shrimp. The Filet Mignon was decent, but the jus was disgustingly salty. Not once did the server return to poor my bottle of wine. And the table was a mess with plates when dinner came out, not by our server, but an incompetent busboy who I watched in horror place dirty plates on the same tray as clean plates. To make matters worse, we were not offered fresh flatware once during the course of our meal. The server's knowledge of the relatively small menu was amateur, and she had to keep accessing my menu as I asked questions for her answers. When I asked for suggestions, she made no attempt to discern my likes and dislikes to accurately find a suitable dish for me, but rather she listed off her favorites! What a joke! My party and I had to handle so many dishes ourselves being dropped or picked up because the staff seemed lazy and incapable of taking the initiative to exhibit the proper hospitality expected at a location as beautiful as this, with prices as high as they are for the substandard food and service. Finally, the fruity orange cake like dessert ordered was nauseating. It tasted like a refrigerator. I would never come back, nor recommend this place. There seemed to be a severe lack of organization, policies/procedures, and knowledge of how to cook delicious food, and how to provide excellent service to guests willing to pay for it. Went on the recommendations of some friends. Staff was friendly and attentive. It was a warm evening, so we sat outside. Had to move to another table due to smokers nearby. Since it was a Friday night we ordered the hadock special, one broiled and one fried.Fried hadock was over breaded and very dry. Was looking forward to going here as I had heard good things about it. It's a beautiful restaurant with very nice outdoor seating. However the food fell short of expectations. I ordered linguine with red clam sauce. The dish was beautiful and had about 8 fresh clams on the top. The taste was very unpleasant. At first I thought it tasted moldy. Knowing that couldn't be it I determined that the off taste came from the lemons that were added to the dish. They weren't just used as a garnish. They were cooked into it. Let me say tomato and lemons do not ever belong in a sauce together. I couldn't eat it. The staff was very responsive and offered me something else. After refusing they comped me half the price. My sisters dinner was a disappointment as well. She ordered the chicken carciifo. The description included all of her favorites. The dish was so sweet she couldn't eat it. Not sure why with all of the savory ingredients. She did not complain. She did not take her to go box. Really wanted to like this place. Not sure I'll go back. read more

Awful service. Menu for Syracuse graduation weekend was not the regular menu posted online. Wine took at least 20 minutes to arrive. The waiter was not familiar with the dishes and claimed risotto did not come with certain things as stated on menu. Said we had to have linguine as they had run out of many items. Came with risotto. The main course was being served and I asked if he forgot the calamari appetizer. Instead of admitting it which I would have respected as everyone makes mistakes, he said "I didn't, it's in the window." It obviously had been for a while as it was ice cold. Served me chicken instead of veal and didn't check back until meals were 90% finished. I ate the chicken as I didn't want more delays. Never asked if a second beverage was wanted. Food was mediocre,nothing to rave about. He didn't know what port was and didn't bother to find out if they had any before dropping our check. read more

Place is beautiful, parking is easy. Drinks at bar before. Menu options nice. Apps first. Delicious. Entrees great. Then our server disappeared. We wanted to order dessert and coffee, but could not find our server. We asked another who flew by... we were told they had gotten busy and someone would get back to our table. The saltimbocca was absolutely terrible. It was SWEET?!?!?!?! I'm not Italian but grew up with many Italians and I have never had sweet saltimbocca. They use bacon instead of prosciutto, probably to save a couple bucks, but I couldn't taste any of it. Everything was overpowered by the sweetness of the sauce, I was dying for strip of bacon or a bunch of salt, but nobody asked if I wanted salt, pepper, or cheese with my meal. I had heard some good things about the newest place to open at this location. I Saw a few articles in the newspaper, online and heard the ads on radio. Two of us went there for a quick bite on Friday early evening. It exceeded our expectations. From the door men opening the doors ( yes, two of them and they offer to walk you to the car when you leave - very nice touch) to the beautiful vibrant young woman who greeted us inside with a welcoming smile. We sat in the dining room. We were only there to have a light meal, but ended up eating a full course. Cesar Salad, Utica Greens, Veal Chop with all the dressings, Chicken Riggies - all outstanding. Great staff and the food was prepared with care and quality. The menu is simple and the place is warm and comfortable. The staff is excellent. They had specials and the waiter said they will prepare any thing we want if they had the ingredients. I really enjoyed everything and will definitely go back for lunch and dinner. We were told the desserts are all made by them in a special pastry shop around the corner. I hope that becomes a regular pastry shop for the public or special orders and not just for the restaurant. Although we did not try any ( WE WERE STUFFED) they sounded decadent, but traditional. I think this new restaurant may be here to stay because they do appear to have it a big notch above the last few occupants. When we left we peaked into the bar - wow - they really did a great job remodeling it and they had quite a few customers. I like the fact you can have a quiet more private setting and/ or a more casual and interactive setting under the same roof. I give this place a five star rating. I will be going back and very happy to see the whole neighborhood transformed with all the new businesses. It really has cleaned several blocks up. read more

My girlfriend and I came here for a date night and we were both very excited for it as we both love Italian food. The service was great and our server was great, no complaints there. The food however, to say I've had better would be an understatement. For appetizers we got calamari and these spring roll things that were a special for the evening. The spring rolls were great, they were full of flavor and delicious. The calamari was quite disappointing. It was disgustingly over breaded and over fried. It tasted more similar to those bits of KFC that fall off the chicken than calamari which was a let down. For the main meal my girlfriend got the chicken riggies and I got veal Milanese. Let's start with her dish. First of all, the pieces of chicken were on average five inches long, this is not a joke, I measured pieces when we got back home. The second thing is the gross misuse of garlic. It was as if whomever cooked the dish had discovered garlic for the first time and thought it to be the wonder spice that makes everything great. WRONG!! I'm not exaggerating when I tell you I could smell the garlic from across the table, it was unbearable to eat. The final thing is the chicken was super dry. I'm amazed that they managed to ruin a plate so aggressively, and it's just chicken riggies, it isn't hard to make. I had ordered the veal Milanese with risotto. First of all, the veal had the same issue as the calamari. There was a disgusting amount of breading on the veal, it was completely covered up by the bread and you couldn't even tell it was veal. The next issue I had was the veal was pounded out to be maybe a quarter inch thick and was the size of the plate. This led to the normally tender and juicy meat, to be dry and bland. Needless to say the veal was ruined and barely resembled what actual veal should taste and look like. Then there was the risotto. It was again bland. It tasted like grits and cardboard had a child, and then that child ate some oatmeal and p**ped it out onto my plate. It was the most bland disappointing plate I've ever had. Unfortunately I cannot imagine we will be going back as we paid 120$ for two people and ONE of the dishes we ordered was good. One seriously disappointed customer read more

Went there with some friends for lunch. The food was excellent. The server was very attentive & checked back & filled water glasses. Her attitude was a little condescending when asked some questions! She made the comment "This isn't my first rodeo!" When it came to pay the bill the server informed us that she did not do change, as I wanted to pay with cash. The worst experience ever. Waited forever because when I called to make reservations the woman stated that it wasn't needed. Waited almost 45 minutes to be seated. When I ordered my meal it took forever to come out and then was not what I ordered. Then waited longer for my correct meal, and not once did the manager come to see that everything was corrected. This place is a gem. It doesn't look big from the outside, but there is a ton of space on the inside (and huge booths for larger parties). A pretty extensive menu that leans toward Italian with some Steak & Seafood options as well. I would say that its a little fancier than your average Italian restaurant, which is nice. Great food and service. We dined there on 7/24/15. Wife had sirloin steak done to perfection. I had shrimp scampi, also cooked perfectly. Good-sized portions, HUGE side salad for only $2 extra. Very fresh ingredients. Our server, Tori, was extremely polite and helpful. We dined outside in the newly-renovated patio.Prices are reasonable, with dessert menu prices actually lower than most Syracuse restaurants. I would recommend Strada Mia anytime. read more

We've been here twice now, the second time as a family, and we'll certainly go back. Extremely reasonable for excellent quality food and service in three different rooms, one a convivial bar with beautiful marble-topped tables, one a large dining room with lots of space and one made of four intimate small tables. Excellent Italian choices. We've so far tried lasagne, chicken parm, sirloin steak, pork chop, and sausage ravioli in vodka sauce. All were delicious and presented prettily. read more

Some of the best food I've ever eaten!!! Look I am no "foodie", but know good food when I eat it. This is great food! Had a party of 16 for a 50th wedding anniversary and everyone loved the food. They seated us upstairs in a private room with no extra charge. Table is set with bread and garlic/olive oil dipping sauce. We ordered Utica greens and bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers. The scallops have a hint of brown sugar flavor that taste delicious and the Utica greens are tremendous. Ordered an extra plate of greens once everyone tried them and wanted more to share. I had the pork, garlic mashed potatoes with green beans and can't believe how good it was. My pork was better than most steaks I've ever eaten! Others got filets, veal parm, scampi, broiled haddock etc and everyone was very happy we chose this restaurant. Even the kids ate all their food. Girls all had mixed drinks and some had wine and guys were driving so just soda/water for us. The waitress was super friendly and doctored up the kids sweet teas to ensure they were super sweet like kids want them. Not one complaint. We all told the staff to notify the chef how yummy the food was. I never post anything online but thought someone needs to give credit when credit is due and this place is my new "nice" dinner stop!!! Price was super reasonable and I have spent lots more for poorer quality at other area restaurants. Highly recommended! read more
