I think this used to be a chain pizza place many years ago but not many left of which I'm aware of. This restaurant is located around the corner from my home and is quite convenient for me. Family owned, the owners are very kind and welcoming. I seek out locally owned restaurants whenever I can and try to pay cash when I can to help offset their growing expenses. They offer a very nice salad bar that includes lots of crisp Lettuces and other vegetables, beans, cheese, nuts, and dressings. I really enjoy their individual pizza with a variety of toppings. The crispy bottom of the pizza crust is my favorite and unique among other pizzas in the area. They also offer wings and sandwiches. The restaurant is clean though the furnishings could use a bit of updating/brightening. That is not the first reason I go to a restaurant. I am interested in the quality of the food and cost of the meal. I am willing to overlook tape on chair cushions, etc. If you've not given Straw Hat Pizza a try, I strongly suggest that you do so. Popped in here when I heard they have live music sometimes. There was a good turn out for the band. The staff was nice and welcoming and took our order quickly. I ordered a garlicky chicken personal pizza. I didn't realize, until the first bite, that it had no tomato sauce on it. The veggies were fresh and crisp and the crust was somewhat thin and very crispy with a nice crunch. However, the chicken had ZERO flavor and there was not much garlic flavor either. I had to order some marinara on the side to actually get some flavor. Finally, the price is higher than warranted for such a small pizza. read more

Straw Hat Pizza is easily the best pizza in Rancho Cordova. It's miles ahead of the competition because they consistently make quality pizza, crispy wings, and well seasoned wedge fries. They stand out by simply making a really nice well done crust. The "undercarriage" of the pizza is well done so there is very little, if any, flop at all when you grab a slice. The pepperoni and garlicky chicken are my go to here and I am impressed that the pizza has the same quality with each order. It puts me at ease that I will receive the same quality pizza every time. I am also a big fan of their wings because they make them nice and crispy. I don't like the fatty texture of chicken skin on my wings so I prefer a more well done wing and Straw Hat gets it perfect. Their wedge fries are always crispy and well seasoned and pair perfectly with their zesty ranch. I have never had an issue with service. The restaurant always picks up when I call and their online ordering has never given me any issues. Hopefully they keep doing what they are doing because it's hard to find good pizza in Rancho Cordova, so I'm glad we have this gem. read more

Hands-down one of the best pizzerias in the Sacramento area. The pizza is amazing, they use old-school real ovens and the crust is crunchy. On 4/16/26 I called in an order at 5:04pm to pick up on my way home after work. The lady took my order, name and phone number and told me the order would be ready in 30-35 minutes. I showed up around 5:40pm, and the girl behind the counter said there was no order for me. We verified I called the correct phone number, but the one who took the order, never actually did anything. Just took the phone call and left shortly after. The girl did offer to make the order for me. But that defeated the purpose of calling it in and I wasn't going to wait another 15-20 minutes for it to be made when i still had another 20 minutes to get home. If you place a phone order, you may want to call back after 5-10 minutes to verify they actually have, and are making, your order. read more

This is my go to pizza place, Old school pizza parlor with the brick ovens...makes all the difference!! If you like a crunchy crust that's not too thick and very good ingredients, this is your place!! Don't sleep on the Hot Hats- think big, awesome hot pocket made with pizza dough. I like the ham and cheese. They have a really nice salad bar too. Owners are great people and this business has been here for over 20years. This is one of the few Straw Hat pizzarias in existence. This franchise used to be HUGE when I was a kid. They did some of the best marketing campaigns in their time. There pizza was always decent if not great. But more than anything it was a hub of the community where we would go to celebrate a baseball game win or simple birthday party. It is a shame that their corporate management completely dropped the ball on their product and quality in general. This location was the first Straw Hat I have been to in at least two and a half decades. It is a living and functioning Time Capsule of a bygone era. The husband and wife team working this small business did a great job considering it was only the two of them. Please support these small locally owned franchises and grab a decent pizza and enjoy some awesome ambiance and atmosphere. read more

Great environment. Cashier/owner remembered us after 1 visit. She is kind and friendly. Pizza tasty, nice and crispy, just how we asked it to be cooked. Salad bar full of great options. Very enjoyable since many places have shut down their salad bars because of COVID-19. Place is clean. Soda machine gives out great sodas. Neighborhood is a little sketchy but that's not their fault. The Rancho Cordova location has delicious pizza. The staff is so friendly every single time I go in to pick up a pizza. I have also ordered for delivery and all delivery staff are so pleasant. The restaurant has a large dining area for gatherings, video games for the kids and tvs to watch any of the games. In addition, it is always very clean. This is one of the few businesses that I enjoy ordering from because of the service I always receive here. Overall everything is excellent. If I could I would rate higher but I can't so I have rated a 5 star. I recommend this location. read more

I'm nostalgic for Straw Hat from going there after little league games as a kid. This location kept the nostalgia alive. A really pleasant couple owns and runs it. Case in point, I ordered pizza and bread sticks and they pointed out that the bread sticks were free because of a special that they had going (they could have just charged me and I wouldn't have had any idea because I didn't read the specials that were displayed). Point being, that's good, honest, business The pizza: The crust at Straw Hat is different: thicker, yet light and airy with a "cracker crust". I love it, but I know that it's not everyone's preference. I mention it to confirm that they make theirs exactly like you'd expect from any other Straw Hat. They also use actual pizza ovens and not a conveyer belt oven (seems to cook more evenly). Finally, the restaurant is like you'd picture an old school Straw Hat: simple booths and tables with large TVs playing sports with a few games and claw machines, little league trophies line the walls. After an afternoon hike came here to eat cos it was in the area and I was craving a ham and cheese hot hat. Place is big and lots of items on the wall. There is an arcade area and lots of booths. The pizza looked like pizza but had absolutely zero taste to it. The sauce was so bland that it didn't even taste like tomatoes. Everything about it tasted like dough. I took Flavor God's Pizza seasoning and sprinkled it all over there just to get a hint of pizza taste. She even checked in when we were leaving to see if everything was "good," but I didn't have time for that conversation. Straw Hat is my all time favorite pizza. So many locations have closed and this is the only available one within an hour drive. Their prices are generally high, but so is the quality. Not today. A slap in the face of my childhood memories. This was a bare minimum of toppings. Almost no sauce. Crust was dry like a saltine cracker. And still $27 for a large combo. We ordered 2 pizzas and only received one. After 15 minutes and still no pizza, we went to the counter, and they gave us someone else's pizza (it was a common special). Sucks for them, I guess. Very very disappointing. Order large pan Meat-e-or pizza $30. The pizza was 80% dough, NO toppings to speak of. I would expect at least half inch of toppings on a large pan pizza, but none. I grabbed a slice and was just covered with some cheese and sauce. You could fit all the toppings of the pizza in one measuring cup, very very sad. Look at the pic, WHERE'S the toppings? Been a while since I've patronized Straw Hat. Always a good place to eat in my past experience. Tried this one near my employer... went in for the lunch special. Immediately hit with a VERY foul odor in the place. Almost turned around and walked out. It smelled like a cross between urine and sour milk. Nasty. I grabbed a salad and personal pizza anyway. Pizza had nearly no toppings on it. Cheese barely covered the tomato sauce. Tasted like my English muffin/ketchup/salami and slice of cheese pizzas I made in college!! Wow. Pizza was average price was the same as every where else. What really put me off is in my pick up order I asked for ranch and they charged me $5 for a literal drink sized cup filled with ranch. Should really be more clear and communicate what you are giving to customers when outside the norm. I would never ask for a massive cup of ranch for a medium pizza. We always get great food here. We like the couples combo 2 you get two salads, two drinks and medium pizza for $32 after tax. Chicken garlic pizza is great! We come out of our way to visit here. When I first walked in, there was a strong smell of cigarettes. I was not sure if I could handle the smell, but then I walked over to the pizza and felt better. The interior is very old fashioned but their pizza is delicious! I came for the lunch buffet that costs $9.62 for unlimited pizza, twists, salad, cinnamon rolls and soda. Eat the garlic parmesan twists while it's hot!! I could eat only the garlic parmesan twists and still feel like I got my money's worth. The lady at the register was also very sweet and you could tell she really enjoyed her job and her customers. I will definitely come back! Btw, am I the only one that thought it was called "Straw HUT Pizza"??? read more
