MOD and I go way back. I've just never done a review before. They are by far my favorite "do it yourself" pizza place. The place is clean, and the employees are engaging and very friendly. You can tell they enjoy doing what they are doing. It's a simple concept. Whether you want a pizza or a salad, you choose either the crust or the greens, then you choose what you want on or in it. All for the same price. Sometimes I will have a salad, today I decided to have a pizza. I had the regular crust, with the spicy tomato sauce. I did Gorgonzola and. Ricotta for my cheeses, for my meat, I did ham, pepperoni, and anchovies. I love the briny flavor of anchovies. I don't remember all of the veggies I picked, but I picked a bunch. I also had them do salt, pepper, basil, and oregano. The pizza came quick, And as always, it was delicious. I had asked if the spicy tomato sauce was very spicy, and she said, "not really.". It did have a bit of a kick, but well within what I like for spicy. All of the ingredients played very well together, and they were very generous with the ingredients. The creamy ricotta. Played well with the Gorgonzola as well. The price is reasonable, and they do offer a military/veterans discount. First time having MOD pizza since it is the closest kind of pizza place near where I live. I usually go to Pieology and that is way further out. I was kind of excited to try MOD pizza because they offer cauliflower crust. I ordered the build my own thin crust with extra pepperoni extra ground beef extra tomato sauce and extra mozzarella with Parmesan and pickled jalapeños. I didn't get anything extra and the sauce was light. If I knew this was to be the case, I would have paid for a regular pepperoni pizza than would have cost me less than paying for a build my own asking for a few extra toppings. I also ordered a second pizza with cauliflower crust with garlic pesto, chicken and a bunch of extra vegetables on top. I of course didn't get all my extras on this order either. I had maybe 10 pieces of chicken on my entire pizza. The cauliflower crust was honestly not as good as Pieology, it was dry as a cracker. read more

Came into MODS the other evening. I really am on this health kick to start the new year. I was greeted and asked what kind of crust, went with the cauliflower crust , with tradiitonal red sauce. I added feta and mozzarella. For toppings , I kinda went overboard with the veggies but scaled back on 2 choices of meat. The lady threw on some salt, oregano and black pepper to finish it off and tossed it into the stone oven. Only , cooked for about 8-10min tops . My pizza was perfect, with the side of ranch . HOT, hearty and filling. I could've fed 2 people with this size. But ate half and saved the rest for my work lunch . Monday lunch at work. I was craving pizza so I stopped by this Mod location. I was pleased to see that this restaurant is clean and tidy. Seems like the employees take pride in keeping everything in order. I chose a Dominic pizza (basil, sausage, tomato, onions on white sauce). It was really good. I was so hungry and popped into MOD for a quick meal. The establishment was clean and presentable. The girls working were competent and quick at their job. The pizza however... I should've been watching more closely once the final touches were put on it prior to baking. There was SO. MUCH. Very familiar with this restaurant concept: order your pizza at the counter (pre-selected option or custom build), add a salad and/or beverage, pay and find a table to sit at. The dining area was a slight step up from a Subway, so nothing spectacular but it was clean and comfortable. The staff member taking our order was friendly and made suggestions when asked. It did take longer than expected for our pizzas to come out, but they were cooked properly, and we were pleased with our choices. Mod Pizza dough is one of the better doughs: its texture is a bit chewy but that's exactly why I love it compared to their competitors. Toppings are fresh and they don't hold out on quantity as I've experienced elsewhere. It also makes their salads better than others - freshness and variety. I also like their soda and beer options. There is plenty of parking. Staff are friendly. And, the large dining room has an abundance of clean tables. Ps. They are the Subway of pizza. You pick the type of pie crust you want and then you go through the line and pick your sauce, toppings, and finishing sauce. The toppings are unlimited! If you're feeling indecisive and want a faster option, you can choose one of their Mod Classics, where the ingredients are already predetermined. This location is always fast and the customer service is always good. I prefer their thick crust over the regular crust. The regular crust is very thin and cracker-like. read more

Based on DoorDash delivery We ordered 2 veggie style build-our-own pizzas for delivery. We chose the MOD original crust, but I'm convinced that I received cauliflower. If this was not cauliflower, then their MOD crust has zero flavor. Half of the reason for pizza is to get that dough worthy flavor. That zest. That appeal. The carb-licious bread. I would have had more flavor power from putting a mini salad on snack crackers in the pantry. Just such a let down. If your business is touted as a PIZZA joint, toppings should not be the star of the show. Onions and pesto sauce should not make me say, "yum" while eating this. It should be the pie as a whole. What can I say about Mod, after being introduced to it from a Yelp event last year, I'm a fan of the concept and what they do for their community and beyond! This place does pizza right with a fast fired pizza oven and unlimited toppings with no additional charge, pretty great! On Friday upon walking in I noticed they were offering a deal for either a salad or Mod-sized pizza for just $5.00 with a purchase of a drink for the entire month to celebrate their 1 year anniversary on June 18th, quite the deal! May just have to stop in again before the month is up, or wear some Pride Colors on a Monday for the deal as well and grab a No Name Cake, similar to a Hostess cake if you haven't had one before, which helps support LGBTQ rights in the workplace! Basically, I'll always choose MOD over Blaze in the fast casual pizza choices. MOD Pizzza is one of the choices we have now in the trendy fast pizza choices. MOD just has a better quality product and nicer interiors and features. The quality of the unlimited toppings a pretty good, but no, not like a top end pizza place with imported cheeses and sausages from Chicago, but the price! Get this, for about $8 bucks, you get a 12 inch pizza with UNLIMITED toppings and sauces, just tell them, as you watch you pizza being assembled. More sausage? Sure, no prob, they just add till you say OK! The pizza cooks fast in a cavernous gas flame oven. They call your name as ask if you want any extra toppings or sauces, like pesto or the balsamic glaze. Pro tip: Tell when you order you want a "six cut", meaning you want the pizza cut into 6 slices, otherwise you get it cut into 4 slices and those big slices are a bit too wide to fit into your mouth, so it's just easier eating with a six cut! My friend loves "Hawaiian" style pizza with sausage added, so that's what she gets. I just sort of make up my pizza as I go down the line, adding most everything, like pesto sauce, grilled onions, roasted garlic, mushrooms, salami, pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, and extra cheese. Every pizza I had at MOD and any location has been wonderful and heck, you can't beat the price! I usually take home 1/2 the pizza cause unless you're really hungry or a big dude, one 12 inch pizza is a whole lot for one person to eat by themselves. Drinks are self serve, except wine and beer. Beer is 1/2 off Tuesdays I think and wine is served in a 12 oz can. If you want pizza fast and cheap, plus tasty all at the same time, MOD is the place! read more

Holy Moly I thought I had found the best make your own fast pizza place around. After trying Mod tonight I may have to bid a fond farewell to Blaze. First off I hadn't even realized a MOD had opened in Rancho Cordova. I was on a mission to fill ma bellay, and was thinking something more luxurious than Taco Bell. I passed out by the first time and then circled around after seeing the line at my first choice and I'm always in the mood for pizza. So I go in and am greeted with the usual 'have you been here before?' So I admitted I hadn't.... My pizzatender gave me the spiel but I can read faster than he talked and pretty much had decided on what I wanted. Went for the Jasper, and added some of my own flair. I think I added the thicker crust option as well which really made it filling. I even had leftovers for the next day which was unexpected given my hunger factor. The pizza was delicious. Perfectly done and the toppings were generous and spread out proportionally (some places don't even the toppings out, major peeve) and I was in and out of there with my hot custom pizza in just a few minutes. Seemed like it took forever but it didn't, time-wise, I was just starving and anxious. In case you don't know MOD is one of the new pick your toppings style quick pizza bars and in my opinion is among the tastiest I've had so far.
