This was my first time coming to Strawberry Place and I will definitely be returning. A small and cute place to get something to eat. We came on a Sunday early afternoon and the line was literally out the door. Luckily, we were able to get seated quickly thanks to a friendly employee. Trying to eat healthy, I got a grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was layered with many different ingredients and filled me up to the point where I had leftovers. My boyfriend opted for a breakfast sandwich, potatoes, and an orange float. I poked over into his plate and tried some of his potatoes which were very tasty. I will definitely come back here, but hopefully during their downtime where it's not as busy and tight in the restaurant. read more

I found this place and I am grateful to the yelp community for recommending this lovely place. Outdoor dinning and indoor dining is offered at limited capacity. No reservations are accepted for brunch so you will have to get there early to avoid the waiting line. Wait times are usually between 20-30 minutes. There is a great coffee shop across the street if you want to sip and wait to be called. The food is great. I particularly want to shine a light on the eggs Benedict on a croissant. Definitely a great twist and better taste than a English muffin. My companion enjoyed his short stack of pancakes. He said they were fluffy a d buttery. I enjoyed my Cinnamon Apple stuffed French toast. I wish it a cinnamon apple glaze on top but the fresh maple syrup was good. My companion had a side of turkey bacon and I had a side of bacon. We arrived on a Sunday at their busiest time so we have to wait for 45 minutes . One thing positive is they will get your name and phone number. Once table is ready, they will call you so no need to hang out in front of the store. Once seated, we were greeted promptly by Bri. She took our order and refill our coffee without letting her know. She has a very nice personality, someone who enjoys being there to provide service. Excellent service. We decided to order the Hot and Humid Challah French toast along with our favorite omelette (delicious). The blueberry sauce that came with it though wasn't as good as it was before. It was watery this time. The bacon wasn't crispy as we ordered it. Nevertheless my overall review remained at 5 stars. The optimal dining experience is one where you feel comfortable in the restaurant, the ambiance is good, and the food is as good or better than you cold make at home. The ambiance at Strawberry Place is homey enough--nothing special. The food--eggs over easy, home fries and toast--were as good I could have made at home. Confession: I almost never have breakfast out because it's so easy to make at home and most breakfast items are just as good at home. But I was meeting someone in Nyack late morning and I was tired of the Art Cafe. Anyway, the food and ambiance are not my "beef" with Strawberry Place. My problem has to do with COMFORT. When I dine out I expect to be provided with heat in the restaurant so I am not so uncomfortably cold that it is my desire to ingest my food as quickly as possible and bolt out of the restaurant. Just as one expects the apartment one has rented to provide adequate heat, it is basic that a restaurant provide a "warm environment" on several levels. Strawberry Place does not do this. At least half of the customers were wearing their jackets while eating breakfast. So, you say: "why not just ask the waitress to turn up the heat?" AH HA!!! I voiced my concerns about the temperature to the waitress and she agreed with me about how cold it was in the restaurant. She then told me: WE DON'T HAVE HEAT IN THIS RESTAURANT. I said WHAT??!!! She said, "that's right. This restaurant relies on the heat coming out of the kitchen. There is NO OTHER SOURCE OF HEAT." I asked her if she was kidding and she said "no" and there was nothing she could do to make the restaurant more comfortable. Was she being honest with me? My thoughts were how could this restaurant operate in the Winter without heat?! I'm sure that's not "up to code" (whatever that means). It's shameful! Not to cast aspersions, but perhaps this "cash only" restaurant could devote their tax savings to upgrading or purchasing a heating system. For those who want to experience breakfast in Russia without assuming the burden of the airfare, Strawberry Place is the place for you... With so many five and four star reviews and the fact that the restaurant has been around a long time, it's hard to believe that no one else has voiced similar concerns to mine. Busy We were warned to expect a wait when we went there on a Sunday morning, and there was a wait. The 20-25 minute estimate ended up at about 35 minutes. It was busy. When we got inside we saw a place packed with occupied tables and it was noisy. Our server came right over and got our drink order and coffee followed shortly thereafter. For my breakfast I ordered the Irish Eyes, a two egg and corned beef hash dish. That too took a while. Some of our food arrived just under 20 minutes, some over. I thought my hash was too mushy, I like to have some larger pieces included to add texture and flavor. I did like where they added onion and pieces of green pepper. The star of my breakfast were the home fries, which I didn't even know I'd be getting. They were very well seasoned. It is cash only, a fact we knew ahead of time and were prepared for. We did get a couple of coffee refills throughout the wait and meal and someone who was not our original server checked on us. On a muggy Wednesday our party of four lazed in around 2:00 and had no problem finding a table. Our waitress was pleasant and there was a decent crowd. My hydrangea challah French toast was good; the bottom piece got nice and doughey with cinnamon and the blueberry sauce, as well as dollops of whipped cream. Others in our group got some chocolate chip pancakes (nothing special, chips a little too concentrated towards the center) and a grilled cheese (a little dry and ho-hum). One of us got crepes, which were themselves a little cold but came covered in a great raspberry puree. So, pretty plates of fresh fruit and breakfast staples, but nothing mind-blowing. I was then a little less thrilled when our check arrived, amounting to over $50 for what I felt was really your average diner fare. Our assumption was that they forgot the entire order and haphazardly slapped together a few sandwiches with eggs that were barely cooked (thus, the egg goo). Overall a terrible experience but like I said, it was during COVID and I'm not sure this is indicative of how a "normal" breakfast experience would have been like. The people were friendly and we sat down a lot faster than anticipated but food took a while to come out (luckily it was worth it!) and drinks didn't get refilled very often. The menu is mostly breakfast items, particularly pancakes and french toast with different toppings, but they have some lunch options as well. I don't like that the specials menu did not list prices, but they were pretty cheap anyway. I ordered the Hungry Man platter, which came with your choice of beverage, two eggs, home fries, sausage, toast, and choice of pancakes or french toast. I chose the french toast and added Nutella and strawberries to it. The food had a very homemade feel and taste to it, and my french toast came out with a surprisingly large amount of strawberries.
