First thing, place is sorta dark inside. I see some recessed lighting that's not on, so I'm not sure if its broken or just off. They give you a menu and piece of ordering paper with pencil. You just tick off the dish you want. There's no number reference on the tick sheet so was awkward to compare against the picture menu. Food Wave Potato (2/5) mandarin style french fries - wasn't a big fan of this dish. Pretty heavy on cumin spice and salty so was hard to really get what the uniqueness of this app was. I'd skip this app if you were eating here first time as it wasn't very impressive. Pork bone pot soup (4/5) super spot on! loved the deep pork flavor of soup. The bones were thick and had some meat on it. Not much meat but enough to chew on. The best part was the bone marrow that you can just scoop out with chopsticks. Pretty flavorful in good. At $14 though, i thought it was expensive for the portion. Sticky rice (1/5) pretty greasy and didn't taste that good. It was pretty bland and the "bread' was essentially fried though. No flavor and was overall a disappointing dish. No worth it. Overall the pot soup was the only redeeming feature here.

Spicy chicken cubes -- a must!!

Streetfood Revolution is delicious. The best menu item I've tried is the spicy chicken cubes. During the pandemic, I call to order and pick it up -- I usually just order the chicken cubes and have it with some home-cooked vegetables and rice. Their dry pot is also very good. Everything is delightfully spicy and savory -- all the good flavors. The chili crab varies in quality since they have different types of crabs depending on the season. Streetfood Revolution is my go-to for Allston takeout food, matched only by BBQ chicken. I'm excited to dine in again as well eventually!

    Fried Chicken Cartilage, fabulous

Excellent food, well prepared. Nothing middling about these guys, although the decor is déclassé.. cheap furnishing, uneven flooring, wobbly tables... great food! Had cumin lamb, a house fried rice, green beans with minced pork, and chicken breastbone cartilage! This is an absolute crunchy delight here or at my fav Japanese izikaya... the food had a deft touch. Should be on The Roster and a part of every Szechuan foodies rotation of places... go!

Went here for a quick Sunday lunch with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food - they've gone better since our last visit more than a year ago! Street Food Revolution is considered one of the more authentic Sichuan restaurant in Boston and around, one can easily tell by observing the customers eating here. The menu is fairly broad, ranging from the typical pick your own Mala Pot, sichuan-style skewers, and a number of appetizers and entreés. We opted for a spread from their menu: Fish Mala Pot, which we wished had less veggie but has good flavor, Chicken Cartilage (great seasoning!), Double Cooked Pork Belly, The Century Egg with Sesame Sauce, fried rice with pork floss on top, and stir fry napa cabbage. All dishes were appropriately portioned and very filling. It's best to come here with a group of friends so you have some stomach real estate and share a mala pot, accompanied with few adventurous appetizers! Is it the best Sichuan restaurant in the area? That is debatable. However, my friends & I were happy to see how much they've improved this past year. Will stop by again sometime!

Dry chicken pot & stinky egg

The name of the restaurant brought me here. Street food revolution sounds like something I would try especially coming back from Asia a few months ago. It's a misconception because when I think of street food, it's the small portioned and inexpensive type of food. So in this restaurant, street food revolved into this: We ordered the dry chicken pot, stinky egg, and dry spicy noodles. The only thing I really liked was the stinky egg but isn't there a better name for this on the menu? Doesn't sound appetizing. We ordered the dry chicken pot because that's one of their signature dishes. It's a huge catering tray that is kept warm underneath but it isn't worth $30. It's overpriced. Dry spicy noodles is just spaghetti pasta with hot oil. Nothing special. In fact, all 3 dishes we ordered had the same type of hot oil and/or Szechuan peppers. I looked around and it seems like every dish is the same type of spicy seasoning. The hot oil and peppers.

I was really excited about this restaurant especially since it promised authentic Chinese food and they really delivered! I don't read Chinese and the menu didn't have photos so we were a little lost and had no idea where to start. The waiter was really patient with us and was able to describe pretty much everything on the menu. We ended up getting the SFR spicy bowl where you can add different types of meats and veggies for additional costs. We got beef, sprouts, and enoki (the stringy long mushrooms) which were all good choices, but I wish we had gotten more filling like another meat choice and potatoes since there was so much sauce. I usually can't handle spiciness, but this bowl was hot but not extremely spicy like the waiter described. We also got rice in soup and legend tofu which both had milder tastes but both smooth and delicious as well. Other people in the restaurant (we came Wednesday and there were a good amount of people there considering it had just opened early March) ordered the dry pots which range between $27-29 and they're huge! They could probably feed about 3-4 people or 2 people with enough for leftovers. It looked like a mixed of veggies and meats (they offered squid, chicken, and rib) so I'd really like to try that next time. The place itself has 2-3 sections but seats a good amount of people, maybe about 50. Really good location in Allston around many other restaurants too.

Classic grill fish with only fish head and tail, but costs $35. AMAZING!

latest updated: Since my friend insisted on try this place, I gave this place a final chance. It can get even worse. This is a typical example of "getting worse as time passes". The stir-fried green beans we ordered contained 2/3 of grounded pork. While I was thinking why there were so much pork, I tasted it. Then it was self-evident. The pork had a fishy and sour taste. It is obvious that the pork has gone bad. The cook wanted to use them as soon as possible, so he added a lot! What a jerk restaurant! Time to shut this place down. It's health hazardous! Updated Review: My recent experience at this restaurant is to take an delivery order. The classic grilled fish really impressed me. I don't know if they only put the fish head and the tail in the dish or the fish body is smaller than my fist. Wen we got the classic grilled fish, you can only see fish head and fish tail. When I dig into a large piles of cilantro, lotus root and onions to try to find where is the fish body, we only find several scattered fish meat with thick skins. This dish costs you $35. They'd better buy organic vegetables for that dish. I have tried several grilled fish dishes and this is the worst. It completely change my attitude to this place. If you want to have grilled fish or other authentic Szechuan food. I recommend Mala restaurant which is one block away from this restaurant. For take out orders, WOW Barbecue also serves nice grilled fish. Moreover, the stir-fried clams come with 30% empty shells. Prepare for your shell collection. The food quality of this restaurant enormously decreases. Old version: This restaurant is newly opened. Although they don't have many kinds of dishes, but their Szechuan food is really authentic. The spicy taste comes with a nicely greasy smell. The spicy ribs come with onions, green peppers, red peppers and Chinese ingredients. They really taste complex, but delicious. Maybe because this restaurant is new, the service is chaotic.

Chicken dry pot was tasty and delicious.

The menu has no pictures so we definitely had to ask and look at other tables to figure out what we wanted. The sticky rice was quite tasty. There were some little crunchy bits that added extra flavor and texture. We enjoyed the chicken dry pot but I will say that there was definitely enough for 4-5 people to share! We had a lot of leftovers to take home. The spicy pot was a bit too spicy and kind of affected my mouth in a weird numbing way. There seemed like a lot of oil in this so it wasn't my favorite. The service was good and the owner was very patient to try to explain what everything was and recommended a few dishes.

    Grilled fish - my favorite!
    Bilbo L.

As someone originally from Sichuan province and well travelled, I'm confident to say this is the most tasty grilled fish I have ever had outside of my hometown! The fish is tender and super flavorful, instead of the greasy or aimlessly spicy kinds I ate at most other places. Ordered chicken feet and stinky eggs as side dishes - they are also DELICIOUS. Will definitely see myself frequently visiting here in the future :p

our leftovers that we didn't finish cuz of the disgusting taste.

this place is the absolute worst. DO NOT DINE HERE. it was completely empty yesterday night (Saturday) around 8pm.. and for good reason. First, the service is horrendous. we were literally the only table and we weren't getting proper service. I had to walk over to the counter (employees were texting and chatting with each other) to ask why we got the WRONG dish? the employee tried to use the excuse of: "the entrees look similar before cooked. so that's why we mixed up" HOW THE HECK IS THAT AN EXCUSE for a restaurant??? never. ever. come back. the dry pot was disgusting (made our mouths numb) and their pig ears are even worse. do not come here. that is all. I won't ever pay $35 for such a crappy meal experience.

Really exciting place focused on Northwest Chinese cuisine…read more The signature dish, the hand-pulled beef noodle soup, had a fairly light, but subtle, flavor. The noodles themselves I wish were chewier (got the 'flat' but probably should have gone for 'extra wide'), and perhaps it'd been nice to have some different textures inside the soup (e.g. something crunchy). The scallions in the soup were also too wide, and needed to be sliced more thinly. The beef pancake was quite decent, though the edges didn't have enough beef and the middles had too much beef. The beef was tender, though I might have liked it more flaky. The sauce inside the pancake was somewhat unevenly applied, and a bit too sweet. I wonder if a dipping sauce (maybe a vinegar?) would have helped. The blueberry with mashed yams was fascinating. It was listed under appetizers, and wondered why the dish came out last. But the dish was a bit sweet (naturally!) and so it actually worked as a light modest dessert! The wait staff was spot on after all in putting out the dish last. The stir-fried cabbage dish was beautiful! It was appropriately crunch, yet using good wok hey. The salt level was a bit high, but the spice level was good. Their spice ratings were a bit timid to what I encounter in Szechuan restaurants (the 'regular' level seemed to be more 'mild-regular'). The stir-fried cumin potato was delicious; nicely flavored, nicely charred. Some bits were a bit oily but the cook on the potato was really neat. Will revisit!!!

The hand pulled beef noodles are a must try! You can customize your noodle thickness. First time I went I tried the wide noodles and the second time I went all in for the extra wide noodles available with the regular spice level. I added on the tea egg and they brought it on the side for you to add into the broth. We tried the lamb skewers and those were flavorful to whet the appetite for share in group of 5. We capped off the meal with their jelly vanilla ice cream dessert too which was the perfect way to wash the delicious spices from the noodle soup earlier. I would definitely come again as each time the noodles, soup and the beef were equally tasty.

Each of the times I remembered were tasty. The ambiance when you arrive is dramatic Chinese music in the background which makes it somewhat difficult to converse with your group. Most recently we arrived with a group of 8 for our 7:30 pm reservation without any issues. All the other tables were full but we noticed the restaurant cleared out after an hour of us being there past the peak hours. They gave us 2 containers of the standalone spicy powder so people could add on as they wanted and the less spice tolerant in our group weren't saddled with the consequences. I tried the following dishes: Lamb & Beef Kebabs - 3 sticks per order I preferred the beef texture and taste over the lamb. BBQ Lamb Ribs - they said this was the only dish that came default spicy but I didn't think it was that spicy. the smoking in the raised wooden container gave it additional flavor. I preferred lamb ribs over the kebabs. Torched Beef - one of the favorites for our table the sauce with it was also super tasty. Big Squid - challenging to cut but they give a lot of pieces and generous portion with a special sauce. Grandma's juicy pork buns - on the small side, topped with black sesame and sauce you can add on the side. it was juicy as advertised. Cucumber salad - refreshing and included peanuts for texture and flavor. Fried tofu - not too memorable but the fried texture was tasty. Bok choy - I enjoyed the sauce spread across this veggie dish. Shiitake & King Oyster Mushroom - these are 2 separate orders but I can't remember which was the skewer and which was on a regular plate. Both were overall tasty. Cauliflower - Another solid veggie option but nothing too memorable if you want to focus mainly on protein. BBQ Bread slice - one of the inauthentic cuisines and it's like French toast Kaoijiu dragon yogurt- I was expecting more dragon fruit flavor so that was a bit disappointing but it still tasted good overall. I am not sure it's worth the $10 dessert price. Overall solid food options and we didn't have any leftovers so it ended up being ~$40-60 per person depending if people also ordered drink/dessert. Worth checking out if you haven't had a chance to before they are gone forever!

Starting with an iPad menu, our ordering experience with our waiter was subpar. We ended up with extra things ordered that weren't part of our initial order. In good news the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was fire and the waiter poured 5 glasses of water for 3 of us. So we could cool down without needing to flag him down. With the only non-Asian waiter in the restaurant, he struggled with basic elements of service. Inattentive. Requests went unmet (lemons for water). We sat for more than 15 mins after asking to box up leftovers and to close our check. This was all a little embarrassing, as we brought my boyfriend's father. After singing praises of the NYC spot, this was a disappointment.

So mind you, I was super surprised by this place. Clay pot rice is hard to find to begin with. Good claypot rice is a treasure. This place got my parents as my approval so that bar as high as heck. This is a definite must for those who want authentic Chinese food in Boston. We ordered their chicken with mushroom, two clay pots of frog, a vegetable one, Chinese sausage with bacon, and a preserved duck claypot rice. We had my brother's friend and my husband too so this was for a party of 6. We also ordered their sauteed lettuce, soup dumplings and their house chicken. Their house chicken is to die for. Oh my lord is it good. Their sauteed lettuce was pretty good too. The only one that fell really flat was the soup dumplings. Pretty sure they're frozen ones...and they kept ripping/sticking to the paper under them...on top of being way too close to each other that they all stuck. Um...yeah, hard pass on that next time. But the claypot rice is absolutely delicious. Add the claypot rice soy sauce and you're golden. Only thing that was different and this is more of a personal preference...less ginger? I know ginger is needed but having small planks of them showing up is a bit much. Minced maybe? Even strip to pick out is fine. But happily eating claypot rice only to bite into a piece of ginger is not so nice. The only claypot rice I didn't care much for was the preserved duck...it's not really my thing. My brother ordered it but I prefer normal roast duck to preserved. Tasted kind of weird. Still, lot of good food here.
