After over $1,400 worth of work on my engine strictly automotive didn't put any of the seals back on properly. The car was suddenly leaking a ton, so I called and took it back in, then they returned it to me with The wheel base cover suspiciously ripped off the car. They claimed no responsibility for the vandalism nor did they seem to be concerned it was leaking b/c they didn't put a cap back on the radiator. I did not press the issues and instead took my car to a different mechanic & he confirmed all the valve and radiator seals were not put on properly & all were leaking. Maybe it was just a bad day for the mechanic, but I don't want my car ruined. read more

I worked with strictly automotive on more than 10 occasions over 6 years. I had a dodge journey and they were able to diagnose and fix several issues with my vehicle in a timely fashion. I don't think they offer this service any longer (they may), but they used to give me a loaner car while they repaired my vehicle so that I wasn't having to purchase a rental. They were provably honest on numerous occasions. I recommend this shop. Like with any business, I had my frustrations, but overall, they were great. read more

I am a girly girl and have no idea what I'm doing with cars (not that those are mutually exclusive but that's my deal). I always get anxiety when taking my car in because shops often make me feel like an idiot or tell me that my concerns aren't valid. This shop was recommended by a good friend. I will not go anywhere else from now on. The fabulous lady with green hair (sorry I didn't catch your name!) came outside and showed me how to check for basic things on my car. She did it in a way that made me understand, she didn't make me feel like an idiot, and she reassured me that it wasn't my fault for not knowing. This shop is honest and everyone was extra friendly. I was told by the Toyota dealership that my 2016 4-Runner with around 40K miles on it had 30% left on the brakes pads and needed to be replaced. I was introduced to strictly automotive with high-regards from a friend. I decided to have them look at it. Strictly Automotive checked it out and found that repairs were not necessary at the moment. I must say that as a woman it is hard to find a mechanic that doesn't try to take advantage and over charge or quote unnecessary work. The guys here were very honest and told me that I had 10k miles more before I needed my brakes done. Well the dealership that I had originally gone to for an oil change had suggested an immediate need for new brakes. So at the end of the day the guys only made $30 on a new air filter but will always earn my business going forward. I have only been to Strictly Automotive once. Today, in fact. And I haven't used other mechanics in Denver, so I can't compare this mechanic to others here. However, my first experience with this shop was extremely positive. I called SA this morning and spoke with Steve about my car's check engine light being on. [We bonded over volleyball and car jokes, but that's another story]. He made time to have a mechanic check my car out today, since I need it for a retreat tomorrow. At the shop, he was punctual. While I waited, he helped another girl, and I listened to him both deliver bad news very kindly (while explaining what services need to be done now and which could wait) AND THEN TALK TO HER FATHER, very patiently. Matt, the mechanic who looked at my car, did not just inspect the engine. He took it for a drive, to observe himself what issues might be going on (and sometimes, I have had to pull teeth to get mechanics to do this very simple thing). He later asked me to step outside and look at the engine with him. He showed me a common, easy-to-fix problem in how one engine part is capped (a defect that triggers the check engine light), so that I could address it myself next time. He fixed my fluid levels and taught me a few more things. And then charged me ZERO dollars. Now, this might be a ploy to attract business. But my instincts say that this is very good mechanicship by people who care about their customers and understand that living is costly. And who understand Subarus. After reading reviews of the others shops people recommended to me (Astro Automotive and Subie), I will definitely only take my WRX to Strictly Automotive. I'll update my review if I have to return. P.S. Don't eat the bubble gum. Paid .25, put a piece in my mouth, thought for a second it was supposed to be a gobstopper and not gum, and then nearly cracked two teeth trying to chew it. read more

This place comes highly recommended on Yelp, and I had a similar experience. Seems like an honest shop, with fair prices, and reasonable time for service. Honda Civic Sedan 2006, ~100k miles Got 4 new tires, without any attempts to upsell me. I asked them to evaluate my shocks/struts, and they advised leaving them on. Like brakes, you could almost always sell someone on a new set - I'm happy they didn't take that opportunity. Definitely going back. read more

Best garage ever. These guys are fair, honest, good at what they do (especially when Subarus are involved!) and extremely nice. I've been going here for ten years, back when they were still Strictly Subaru, and have NEVER had a bad experience. I take my Kia there now. I occasionally have to keep it there overnight or bring it in once for diagnosis and once for repair, because they do specialize in Japanese cars and don't always have Kia parts readily available, but it's totally worth it. Their auto sales branch, Inca Auto Sales (which operates out of the same building, and is run by the same guys) is totally worth checking out, too. I've bought one car from them. The price was great, the car was in excellent shape, and the mechanic owners had already fixed the problem that plagues cars of that make, model, and year (head gasket, 1998 Subaru Forester). read more

I recently brought my Subaru in to get my brakes fixed, and get it checked out after a cross country move. The team at Strictly Automotive did an excellent job with a quick turnaround. Corey called and gave me a rundown of other problems I might face in the future (it's a '98, so I'm not surprised) but did a great job letting me know how to prioritize fixes, how to do maintenance on small problems, and when I would know it's time to fix other things. I felt like everyone at Strictly was very trustworthy and personable. They take pride in their work. I'm happy to find a spot that specializes in Subaru fixes so I will be back again (hopefully not too soon!) read more

I think I've found my new mechanic! I loved my old mechanic in Aurora, but since moving to Cap Hill I've been looking for something more convenient. I read a lot of good reviews of this place and decided to trust my fellow Yelpers. I had my FJ in to have my tires swapped out and they were super accommodating with my schedule. I was on a time crunch as the tires were delivered two days late and I was leaving for a ski trip that evening. They got me in first thing in the morning and called with updates along the way, so that I knew exactly when the tires were going to be done. The entire staff was extremely friendly, and they were overall very reasonably priced for other services. I have always driven Japanese cars, and many mechanics charge more to work on them or take longer to get parts in. I like that Strictly Automotive specializes in Japanese vehicles, so I know my car is in good hands. I will definitely be bringing my FJ here for any future maintenance or repairs. read more

Nothing more- my dealer would have charged be over $500 to replace things not needed replacing. Don't take your Subaru to anyone else!!! These guys know their stuff. There are a lot of places that don't know what they're doing when they open the hood of a Subaru! I came here after the dumb-a** at my old shop apparently forgot to reconnect the tubes that connect my windshield wiper fluid to my wipers. The guys at strictly automotive fixed it for free. Then I had a significant crack in my windshield and they argued on the phone for 20 minutes to get a better price for my new one. The shop isn't the easiest to find but they are really friendly, they are NOT patronizing to women, and they have interesting chairs in their waiting area. read more

This is, without exception, the finest, best and most credible auto repair company that I have worked with in my 40+ years of driving. They tell me exactly what I need, nothing more. They charge reasonable prices that end up to be almost exactly what they quote.... every time. They are very through in their inspection process, yet never make up bogus things to run up the charges on the bill. They do what they say... by when they say, and they cheerfully take the time to explain the entire situation, what caused it and how to get the best ongoing performance. So i recently moved to Denver from NYC. i brought my car into Steve and Greg b/c it was smoking a little under the hood and it smelled like burning fluid. These guys came highly recommended from another subaru owner and good friend. After checking my car out, Greg tells me that my axle was replaced with the incorrect one and that my steering rack needed to be replaced. While explaining this to me he was highly detailed and explained everything that was wrong. I asked Steve if he could talk to the last dealer that did the work and he said that they absolutely could. They even agreed to hold onto the incorrect park for a few weeks while i argue with the old mechanics. In the end, the work performed by Striclty Automotive was fantastic, thorough and relatively cheap. thanks guys! read more

I took my 01 Forester here last Friday with a horrible steering wheel shake and knocking sounds. They were very nice and listened to my description without brushing me off (like I've experienced before at other places). They had a mechanic come with me to work so that he could see the problem with me, then he drove my car back to the shop himself. They called me later to tell me the problem (strut mounts + struts) and I said okay go for it. The next day after driving around for a while, the problem reappeared (it was intermittent to begin with). What they had fixed on Friday was not the problem at all. On Monday morning I called a trusted mechanic back in my hometown in NY and ran the problem by him. He immediately knew what it was (CV) and said what the mechanics had done on Friday was clearly not the problem. When Strictly Auto reopened, I took it back there, miffed of course. They were very receptive to my complaint and annoyance and checked out what I told them the mechanic in NY had said to check. (I'm sure they would have checked that out anyway, as what else could it be?) They were very gracious about the mistake and offered to put back my old struts into the car and pretend Friday never happened. OR they would leave the struts in, plus replace the axle and refund me $100 off what I paid on Friday. I ended up taking that deal. So while the mechanics here don't seem to be as sharp as my guy back in NY, they are nice, kind, funny, generous, and fair. I'll take that. It's better than a jerky place who will jerk you around and whose mechanics still probably don't know that much. read more

These guys were absolutely wonderful. I have taken my vehicle to this location twice now, each time was a great experience. The first time I went they ran a diagnostic computer thing on my car to see why my "check engine" light was on (I obviously know little about cars). The computer came back with a result that meant I would be spending over $300 on a part. They were skeptical of the reading since my car had been idling so high. So, instead of ordering the part they decided to clean the ground wires, thinking it was more of an electrical problem. Low and behold it worked! And I only had to pay for the labor of cleaning. The second time I went because my alignment seemed to be off. Turns out, after some investigation, it was a tire that was causing the issue. I had them replace the front tire with the full size spare I had, until I can save up enough money for new tires and to have the alignment fixed. The car isn't pulling as much for now.They didn't charge me a penny for that, even though they spent a couple hours labor. Very honest, reliable, hard working guys there. Another excellent experience today. Coming home from Westminster last night, the dashboard in my Impreza decided to act funny, and my car took 10 minutes to start. Worried as hell that my battery might be toast, I called Steve today at 11:30 and was in at 1:30. They gave it a quick look and did a reset for me, then took me back and showed me how do to it. I asked Steve how much I owed him, to which he waved his hand and said "Don't worry about it." These guys are amazing, and they deserve your business if you need any sort of Subaru repair! read more

After a lifetime of fearing mechanics, I just had my very first very positive experience with this tucked away little shop. I was actually referred there by another mechanic who is highly rated on Yelp, so I felt confident going in that this was a reputable place. Aside from being a little slow to communicate with us so we could get our rental car taken care of, this place did everything right. They were friendly, quick with repairs, and even found a way to fix our windshield "squirter thing" for free even though we were there for something else. The two guys we met seem more like the mechanic from Mayberry than the slick ones I've found elsewhere. Even though the car we brought in was my wife's Ford Taurus, we plan on taking both my Subaru and her Taurus back whenever we need work. read more

Epilogue 2015: Had Greg and crew at Strictly Automotive inspect 2 used Subaru Outbacks, helping us choose which of the 2 pre-purchase inspection cars to buy. Although you don't always get good news, I'd rather he be honest with me, which he is, and I appreciate it from him, and his crew. After our 1st inspection, we learned a lot how some dealerships are more professional than others when you give them sad news. Our 2nd inspection on a 2nd car went much more smoothly, a win-win for all involved. Our old car was dead and Greg went the extra mile helping us find a decent salvage place. We still give Strictly Automotive a 5+ Star rate. When you work with them, they feel like family, like I am visiting my uncle Greg and crew. Could not have ever expected what just happened. I called to see if they would quote me on service another shop had recommended. Misty called me and walked me through my own bill, telling me that I was getting a pretty fair estimate and that while I could bring my business to them, it'd likely be a similar price so it's just a matter of whether or not it was worth my time to move my car from one shop to the other. She explained how I could save money and what repairs are probably necessary/not. I've never experienced better customer service in my life and it's not quite the industry you expect that from - and they don't even have my business. I will be using the original shop I brought my car to just because I am afraid to drive the car the distance in between the service locations. I will strictly be going to Strictly Automotive from hereon out because of the honest and completely gratuitous service I just received from Misty over the phone. Found! Strictly Automotive Repair shop - Honest, talented, affordable and goes above and beyond! If you're looking for an auto repair shop that you can count on then look no further than Strictly Automotive at 804 W 10th Ave, Denver. Misty and her team saved me over $1,300. Took my car to Midas off 6th ave and they wanted to charge me over $1,300 for a new throttle body, which didn't seem right to me. I searched for top reviews on Yelp, Nextdoor and Google and found Strictly Automotive. I called Them for a second opinion and Misty said that's very rare and doesn't sound correct at all. I had car towed to Strictly Automotive and they found the problem within 30 min, which was as simple as 3 fuses and charged me a low diagnostic fee. Midas still charged me for diagnostic (misdiagnosed) even after I called and informed them of the simple fix. Furthermore, both shops needed to get throttle body from same dealership and Strictly Automotive still came in about $500 cheaper than Midas if I needed that part. Instead they were honest and said, nope just some fuses. Misty went above and beyond throughout the whole experience. You always wonder if you're taking your car to an honest shop and it's a great feeling knowing that I don't have to look any further. Strictly Automotive has secured my business for life. I really do love this place, as much as one can love a mechanic. Finally got a bunch of deferred maintenance issues taken care of a few weeks ago, and I was really happy with the information provided about the services/repairs, prompt response to calls, etc. The location catty corner from Interstate Cafe on Santa Fe/10th doesn't hurt either. Last week, a "check engine" light went on for the first time in the 5 years I've had this car, and Steve not only checked it out for free, but also turned off the light (some places charge $50 to "reset" your car's computer) and gave me the cheapo to expensive options on how to deal with the trouble. While they don't advertise it heavily, I know that they will give you a lift downtown if you need it after dropping off your car. read more

I actually forgot to write a review after I first went here a few months ago, but I was searching for something else and Strictly popped up in the results.. I had been dealing with some shaking on the highway in my Subaru Legacy GT, and after doing some heavy reading on the issue I took it in to get the LCA bushings replaced. I bought some aftermarket parts online and took them in with my car. As soon as I arrived at Strictly, they put my car in the air to see what was going on. The problem turned out to be with different parts, which they actually took me back under my car with a flashlight to look at myself. This was the first time a shop has ever taken the time out to do this for me, and I really appreciated them educating me on what was going on. Since I needed to drop my car off for this repair, the guys at Strictly were nice enough to take me to the lightrail stop so I could get to my office on the other end of town and pick it up later in the day. The location is quite convenient for this type of thing. I plan on bringing all of my Subarus to Strictly for any future repair needs. Their level of honesty and integrity is hard to find in the auto repair industry. read more
