I planned a last minute surprise party for my husband. We had a party of 25 and Dennis was able to accommodate us in a private event space that could easily seat up to 45. The tables were set up in 12's. There were also 2 large tv screens to watch the game . Our server, Angela and her co-servers were outstanding! They were able to split bills and keep everything coming in a timely manner. The food was exceptional. They had a great variety of choices for kids too! Most of the guests ordered the steaks. I took my BF last night for his birthday dinner and it was fantastic! I have been to Stubrik's many times over the years and have always enjoyed the food, ambiance, service and overall experience so I was excited to bring my new BF for this special occasion and we were left very pleased! From the start, our server Sarah was super thoughtful, attentive and ensured we had cold water immediately after we arrived right when they opened at 4pm for dinner. My Bf had an 8oz Top Sirloin rare along with sautéed mushrooms and rice pilaf. He was so pleased with the steak cooked perfectly and the sides were very tasty. I had Chicken Fettuccine Carciofi which was absolutely out of this world!! The pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauce was rich and savory, the chicken was moist and grilled to complement the artichoke hearts that just made the dish hard to eat slowly! When I mentioned we were celebrating my BF's birthday Sarah arranged for a little birthday dessert for us which was bananas foster and a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a birthday candle so I could sing "happy birthday" to him. Been going here for over a decade and not only are they serving fantastic food, providing fantastic service, and great ambiance, but consistency is something I also see and appreciate at this spot. In times when other restaurants cut back on quality to save a dime, this restaurant does not cut back from their quality. I just enjoy this place. My friends and I came here on a Saturday night for a good meal. We sure had a great one. Our server was fun and spunky and our food looked and tasted delicious. I ordered the seafood pasta, while my friends ordered the crusted salmon with asparagus, pork chops with mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms and the blue cheese filet mignon. A perennial Downtown Fullerton favorite. I have been going here for years and thankfully, it still delivers on consistent high quality food and service as I discovered once again last night. I like the casual but classy vibe. Hardwood and soft lights. Steaks are always the go to, and last night it was the sirloin cut although their NY and Ribeye are also top notch. Plethora of sides to choose from and you get two, and I love their baked potato with all the fixings and asparagus. Also discovered the shrimp scampi surf and turf add on provided ample dipping sauce for the steak. Great place for date night, at the bar dinner and family or friends celebrations. It's better than any we have tried at other restaurants like Brennan's in Downtown Disney. I am giving 4 stars because the wait was very long almost an hour for table of 2. Stubrik is ensconced in an old, dark, cave-like brick building possibly from early last century. City of Fullerton did a good job in not tearing down its distinctive, venerable buildings in downtown. There is a bohemian, laidback, retro atmosphere that has its own quirky charm. On Saturday nights around 10pm, there is live entertainment on a small stage in the front of the house. Good musicians when we visited on Saturday, July 8, 2018, but if you want more quiet dining, the back of the narrow house may be more to one's liking. Jackie was our waitress who seemed to be a newbie, and her eagerness to see that "all was alright" was endearing. Good prices & good bang for the buck. The higher priced meat dishes include a salad, and two sides so Stubrik doesn't penny & dime you. 1) Fresh crisp, refreshing green salad of romaine & heart of romaine, slivers of red onion, touch of carrot, toasted unsalted sunflower seeds. Ranch dressing seemed house made or modified. 2) Ribeye steak, to me, is overly blackened. From a health perspective high heat blackened foods are potentially carcinogenic. The meat seems tenderized w/ perhaps papain since the meat comes out a bit mushy at the same time it is a bit chewy. Not unpleasant to me, but some steak lovers may find this off putting. General overall taste of the meat I find is acceptable w/ the expected fattiness inherent in a ribeye. Asparagus seems parboiled then buttered. Good grassy offset to the lightly gamey steak. Potato au Gratin needs a bit of work. Perhaps more crème fraîche/sour cream, grass fed butter, cheese like gruyère to create a more luscious, dairy, rich mouth feel. This one turned out to taste more like weakly flavoured, thick cut, starchy, boiled potato. 1-2a) Glass of Poema Tempranillo blend: dark red wine, tastes of blackberry, dried cherry, light tannin & acid, vanilla, whisper of warm spice such as allspice. Ok wine that at $9 got a majorly big mark up. One way of a restaurant to raise profit w/ almost no effort. Can't blame them for trying. 3) Tiramisù was excellent in a slightly unorthodox manner. Besides the standard Savoiardi/lady finger pastry soaked in a bit of espresso, there was a thick, creamy Crème Patisserie made w/ a soupçon of Moscarpone cheese & possibly condensed milk that created a moist, thick, velvety, dairy mouthfeel missing in most Tiramisù. Dark milk chocolate shavings tasting of a whisper of cinnamon or allspice was another fine touch. 3a) Black coffee provided a good bitter contrast to the very sweet Tiramisù. Food is closer to 3+ Yelp stars, but the good après dîner musical entertainment & Jackie's refreshing ingénue approach ups Stubriks to 4- Yelp stars. read more

Full disclosure, we did bring our own wine this time but dishes that were ordered: Beef Stroganoff, 2 filets with blue cheese, house salads, squaw and Sourdough bread. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Found free parking in a garage about a five minute walk to the restaurant. They have a huge inside but we sat outside to eat where they turned a portion of the parking lot to a dining area with umbrellas and lights. We started off with the Cajun calamari. Unfortunately the calamari seemed to lack salt. All ring size shaped. The loaded potato soup was thick and peppery. The salad was good and glad they dressing was on the side since it was slightly salty. The main entree we ordered was the sirloin black and blue and the beef stroganoff fettuccine with one side which I chose rice pilaf which tasted like a risotto. We started with the mushroom app. So good, crab stuffed and a great sauce (asked for more for my steak) we all got small side salads, which was nothing too special. The entrees we got were the porter house and a side of shrimp (which I shared with my mom) and my dad got the bacon wrapped filet with a blue chz sauce.
