Pretty solid spot for American food. All the classics and food tasted great! Got the shrimp scampi that comes with a salad and two sides (I got broccoli and rice pilaf) PLENTY OF FOOD and had leftovers for another meal. My friends I came with got the steak, black and blue style, which comes with blue cheese and a gravy style sauce. I tried some and the steak had a nice crust on it. We also ordered the Brussels which were not sweet, which I appreciated and the stuffed mushrooms with crab were delicious! Overall food was solid. The menu isn't too creative but if you're looking for solid pastas, salads, seafood, and meat they got you covered. The only thing that turned me off a little was the dark ambiance and it was pretty dusty on the ceiling. read more

The service was okay. The food was fairly good but the prices seem too high for the quality. We celebrated a birthday and thought maybe there would be a little dessert w candle but no. We ordered a dessert to share instead. We hadn't been here in a while and we won't probably be back. Ambiance is ok. read more

Visiting the area and decided to stop in for dinner based on the reviews. On a Wed night, the place was buzzing with energy and the vibe was casual and comfortable. Our server was being kept busy by all the diners but she kept a cheerful smile on her face the whole time. My sea bass was excellent though pricy for the serving. Apparently the restaurant is known for their Caesar salad, and I have to say it really was yummy. Would recommend. read more

Saw this place while walking around downtown Fullerton and decided to give it a try. What a great decision it was. We sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely nice and helpful when deciding what we should order to eat and drink. It's felt like a neighborhood bar and high end steakhouse all rolled into one. It was a really cool experience. Definitely a great place to go for after work drinks or a nice date. read more

Came on a Saturday for my dad's 65th birthday. We had a group of 7 so the hour wait that was quoted wasn't surprising. Fortunately it ended up only being 40 minutes so that was fantastic. We were seated at 615 and didn't leave until 815...which would have been fine if we were a bunch of yappers but unfortunately 85% of that time was sitting around and waiting. They only had one waitress taking care of the front inside tables and it was obvious that she was slammed and overwhelmed. She did try though. The food was bomb and well cooked so zero complaints there. It just took my entire life to come out so I'm guessing the kitchen was also overwhelmed. Knocking another star off for a big COVID fail. While they had the tables separated appropriately, there was a group of 6 allowed to stand maskless and drink in a circle near the bar while they waited for a table? Not sure why they were there but all that healthy space was gone. They must have been standing there for at least 30+ minutes because they were there for a large portion of the time we were and I spent a big chunk of the time being irritated that no one was doing anything about it. Also, one of us tried to order an iced tea and a water but was told he could only get one because they didn't have enough glasses? Super weird considering occupancy should be limited but okay. read more

I love this place. My girlfriend and I always rave about the filet mignon or the black and blue sirloin. And their banana foster dessert is to die for. Definitely recommend this place. Prices definitely aren't bad for a date night either. Definitely not cheap by any means, but doesn't break the bank. Expect to wait on a Friday night or Saturday night. read more

My friends and I came here on a Saturday night for a good meal. We sure had a great one. Our server was fun and spunky and our food looked and tasted delicious. I ordered the seafood pasta, while my friends ordered the crusted salmon with asparagus, pork chops with mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms and the blue cheese filet mignon. For dessert, we all shared the banana Foster. Yum! This place does food so well. I'm glad I came here and will be coming back to try other dishes. Oh, we each ordered a Fill Collins as well. We came here to celebrate our anniversary. Rudy was our server. We were very pleased with his gregarious manner and knowledge of the menu items. He really made our dining experience a wonderful evening. The chicken was delicious except the white meat was a little dry. We ordered the spinach and baked potato for the side dish. We chose the soup instead of the salad. The soup was creamy and delicious. It went really well with the squaw bread. The scallops were a little bit more cooked than I normally would like. The past was a little bit over cooked. Over all it was a tasty dish. The pineaperol spritz was beautiful and tasted as I expected. The banana foster vanilla icecream was the best dish! It's better than any we have tried at other restaurants like Brennan's in Downtown Disney. I am giving 4 stars because the wait was very long almost an hour for table of 2. Caution: they serve alcohol and some patrons may be more inebriated and can bump into you. That happened to me and I was almost knocked over by one such woman. The restaurant staff was very diligent and came to ask how I was after about 10 minutes. read more

Wanted to go out and have a nice steak. I've heard good things about this place. They don't take reservations not a big deal. Waited 50 minutes outside50!! When they had tables outside open that they eventually Sat us 4 at anyway. Ordered three appetizers. cheese-bread,Cheese sticks and calamari. I took the first bite of the calamari basically rubber! It took me about 3 to 5 minutes to chew it. I waited for my friend to try it so I could see the look on his face..lol.Horrible. I ordered the ribeye with shrimp Holy shit -pepper pepper pepper asked for Medium---was not. Now to the shrimp spicy Cajun Over spiced ! And this just wasn't one steak it was two steaks and two shrimp.. Outside seating area had umbrellas no heat lamps got out right before the rain hit guess I was lucky. $175 dinner they took off The calamari. read more

I go here with my bf for our anniversary every year and their steaks just melt in your mouth. I always get the bacon wrapped filet mignon since I don't eat a lot and my bf gets the ribeye. It comes with 2 side dishes and I always get their mashed potatoes and fries while my bf gets vegetables and mashed potatoes haha read more

Came here on Easter with my parents. We started with the mushroom app. So good, crab stuffed and a great sauce (asked for more for my steak) we all got small side salads, which was nothing too special. The entrees we got were the porter house and a side of shrimp (which I shared with my mom) and my dad got the bacon wrapped filet with a blue chz sauce. Entrees were great and staff made sure I had everything I needed for steaks. We got the chocolate cake it it was light and fluffy, perfect end to the night! read more

This was our second time eating here... and a first for our guests. It was a perfect evening out and our food was outstanding. We ate in the front section, which I prefer. For a steakhouse the quality of the meat was definitely lacking it wasn't very tender and had a lot of fat. Sides: 4 little pieces of asparagus were fine small amount for sure. The baked potato was good. My family got the chicken parmigiana and liked that but the potatoes were cold and all stuck together not edible. The enjoyed their salmon. Stubrik is ensconced in an old, dark, cave-like brick building possibly from early last century. City of Fullerton did a good job in not tearing down its distinctive, venerable buildings in downtown. There is a bohemian, laidback, retro atmosphere that has its own quirky charm. On Saturday nights around 10pm, there is live entertainment on a small stage in the front of the house. Good musicians when we visited on Saturday, July 8, 2018, but if you want more quiet dining, the back of the narrow house may be more to one's liking. Jackie was our waitress who seemed to be a newbie, and her eagerness to see that "all was alright" was endearing. Good prices & good bang for the buck. The higher priced meat dishes include a salad, and two sides so Stubrik doesn't penny & dime you. 1) Fresh crisp, refreshing green salad of romaine & heart of romaine, slivers of red onion, touch of carrot, toasted unsalted sunflower seeds. Ranch dressing seemed house made or modified. 2) Ribeye steak, to me, is overly blackened. From a health perspective high heat blackened foods are potentially carcinogenic. The meat seems tenderized w/ perhaps papain since the meat comes out a bit mushy at the same time it is a bit chewy. Not unpleasant to me, but some steak lovers may find this off putting. General overall taste of the meat I find is acceptable w/ the expected fattiness inherent in a ribeye. Asparagus seems parboiled then buttered. Good grassy offset to the lightly gamey steak. Potato au Gratin needs a bit of work. Perhaps more crème fraîche/sour cream, grass fed butter, cheese like gruyère to create a more luscious, dairy, rich mouth feel. This one turned out to taste more like weakly flavoured, thick cut, starchy, boiled potato. 1-2a) Glass of Poema Tempranillo blend: dark red wine, tastes of blackberry, dried cherry, light tannin & acid, vanilla, whisper of warm spice such as allspice. Ok wine that at $9 got a majorly big mark up. One way of a restaurant to raise profit w/ almost no effort. Can't blame them for trying. 3) Tiramisù was excellent in a slightly unorthodox manner. Besides the standard Savoiardi/lady finger pastry soaked in a bit of espresso, there was a thick, creamy Crème Patisserie made w/ a soupçon of Moscarpone cheese & possibly condensed milk that created a moist, thick, velvety, dairy mouthfeel missing in most Tiramisù. Dark milk chocolate shavings tasting of a whisper of cinnamon or allspice was another fine touch. 3a) Black coffee provided a good bitter contrast to the very sweet Tiramisù. Food is closer to 3+ Yelp stars, but the good après dîner musical entertainment & Jackie's refreshing ingénue approach ups Stubriks to 4- Yelp stars. read more

Back at Stubriks for another enjoyable evening. Both the food and service are always amazing here and even during a pandemic, these guys never skipped a beat. Full disclosure, we did bring our own wine this time but dishes that were ordered: Beef Stroganoff, 2 filets with blue cheese, house salads, squaw and Sourdough bread. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Unfortunately we didn't leave room for the Bananas Foster this time (it's amazing and highly recommmended!). Stubriks offers big, delicious steak dinners and other dishes at comfortable prices. Omg. This is the spot. The food, service, and ambiance are all on point. Although it was bittersweet to send my mom home via the Southwest Chief, (the Amtrak station is across the parking lot) my hubs treating me to a belated birthday dinner definitely turned my mood around. This place has such a cool vibe. Their house salad with balsamic vinegar dressing and medium rare ribeye steak were perfect. Paired with a baked potato and sautéed mushrooms, this mama was in hog heaven! Bananas fosters for dessert was just enough to leave on a sweet note. Alize was our server and she did an amazing job! Found free parking in a garage about a five minute walk to the restaurant. They have a huge inside but we sat outside to eat where they turned a portion of the parking lot to a dining area with umbrellas and lights. We started off with the Cajun calamari. Unfortunately the calamari seemed to lack salt. All ring size shaped. The loaded potato soup was thick and peppery. The salad was good and glad they dressing was on the side since it was slightly salty. The main entree we ordered was the sirloin black and blue and the beef stroganoff fettuccine with one side which I chose rice pilaf which tasted like a risotto. Beef was great and the sirloin tasted very well as it was cooked beautifully. Service was top notch and friendly! read more

Service was good, but the food was disappointing. First of all, the salad was mostly iceberg. The black and blue filet was covered in an unremarkable brown sauce with flecks of blue cheese. The steak fries were so thick they were cold in the center. The asparagus was four sprigs. For two of us, only one of us had a drink, my bill was $170 with the tip for a lack luster meal. They don't have any problems accommodating a table of 5. I was there a couple of months ago and they were doing outdoor dining. It was really nice. There shouldn't be any wait or a long wait on a Wed/Thurs night at 7 p.m.

For example, the cottage cut (seven ounces) costs $39 instead of $59 on Wednesdays. Despite the pricy menu items, the food quality, service, and ambience make for an excellent opportunity to celebrate a special occasion. Firstly, we ordered the seaside sampler for four as an appetizer. This included Chesapeake Bay-style crab cakes, chilled Mexican prawns, and ahi sashimi. I enjoyed the ahi sashimi the most as the large and fresh slices had a nice sear with a savory seasoning on the edges. The crab cakes tasted great and filling with a dill horseradish aioli as the menu listed. While I didn't try the prawns, my mom enjoyed those the most as they had a slightly sweet flavor. I did enjoy the cocktail sauce. Secondly, I ordered the cottage cut, which included seven ounces of roasted prime rib, creamed corn au gratin, creamed spinach, and a Yorkshire popover. The cut tasted lovely at medium rare as it had a soft texture and good balance of meat and fat. I appreciated that my mom got an especially thick cut of prime rib. Seven ounces feels just right for me given that the entree includes other sides. The creamed corn au gratin tasted a little sweet without an overwhelming flavor. I liked how the creamed spinach had a similar taste. A Yorkshire popover has an airy texture with a buttery and eggy taste. Au jus and horseradish butter elevated the prime rib. Thirdly, we had an English trifle for dessert. The menu says that the trifle consists of cake layers soaked with rum and brandy, including English custard, strawberries, Chantilly cream, and caramelized sliced almonds. It had a uniquely sweet flavor due to the soaking, and the almonds provided some crunch. I found the dessert tasty. I found the staff polite, friendly, and professional. Our server disclosed the discounts on their prime rib cuts and listed their prices. She also mentioned other featured entrees in detail. The staff also consistently refilled my water glass. We also had the opportunity to ask another staff member for olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette for our baked bread. He came back and made a little small talk, fondly reminiscing how his former restaurant would serve the same sauces with their bread. My mom also got a birthday card with a printed message and signatures from the staff. The restaurant provided a simply elegant ambience. While entering the indoor seating area, we passed an exhibition kitchen and table displaying various desserts. Customers generally wore semi-formal clothing, and the restaurant recommends business-casual attire. A pianist played various songs and tunes to make for a fancy yet calm atmosphere. I especially enjoyed how the pianist played "Clair de lune." It felt nice to experience a rare moment of hearing classical music played inside a restaurant. The venue appeared to be focused on creating a nightclub atmosphere rather than providing a proper football watch party. There was a DJ, extremely loud music, and a host who continuously provided her own commentary throughout the match. Instead of allowing fans to enjoy the game, she repeatedly interrupted play with jokes, personal observations, and constant microphone chatter that distracted from the match. Halftime was especially frustrating. Rather than preparing for the second half, the host performed multiple songs while fans on the patio were asking for the match audio to be turned on. Even after the game resumed, the unnecessary commentary continued for the remainder of the match. To make matters worse, there was a $30 cover charge. I purchased tickets for my entire group in advance, spending well over $200 before food and drinks. For that price, I expected a venue that understood people were there to watch one of the biggest sporting events in the world--not to watch the host become the center of attention. A great World Cup watch party lets the match create the atmosphere. The crowd, the chants, the tension, and the emotion are what make these events memorable. Unfortunately, those moments were constantly interrupted. I genuinely wanted to like Chako's Social, but this experience was incredibly disappointing. If you're looking for a true football viewing experience where the game comes first, I cannot recommend it based on my visit.

My family and I decided to visit for the first time for British cuisine. It's not a far departure…read morefrom foods of other cultures around the locality, but you'll notice differences between British and American English, for example. Many of their dishes include chips, which during my visit, resembled steak fries due to their thickness. You'll also see that curry is a signature dish in the menu, which reflects how Anglo-Indian cuisine has maintained popular influence in the United Kingdom. I ordered Cutty Sark's curry with chicken, rice, and chips at medium spice. The name is derived from a British merchant vessel that operated during the late 1800s. The curry had a mix of savory and sweet flavors, which reminded me of both Japanese and Indian cuisines at the same time. I couldn't say with certainty that the curry fit into just one cuisine. Packed with some heat and bold in spice, it's a delightful and large dish if you desire a lot of flavor. Where the curry went a little off course was the addition of celery. The petiole is strongly flavored and distracts from the curry in my perhaps controversial opinion. Curry seems to better mix with potatoes and carrots. I tried some of the bacon sarnie as well. The word "sarnie" is an affectionate diminutive for "sandwich." American bacon usually comes from pork belly, which provides a flavorful yet oily crispiness. However, the British variant usually comes from the loin, which is meatier and leaner. I thought of the bacon here as similar to a savory ham. The sarnie bread is fried in fat to emphasize buttery flavor. The restaurant, filled with English decorations, has the style of a cozy and dim pub. There's a good amount of small wooden booths with cracked leather seating. Our server was really nice and made sure we got everything we needed despite the busyness of the restaurant. For example, my curry came with a chutney, and I had asked for a lid to take it home. While I forgot to take the chutney home, she went outside as she noticed that we took the back exit to look at their double-decker bus. She even offered to take a picture of us. The service deserves a lot of kudos, and we were grateful for her consideration.

The service was very slow and we only had one water refill, despite asking repeatedly, in almost 3 hours. They were also out of multiple items including scotch eggs, sausage rolls, steak and ale pies, and sticky coffee pudding (they only had two). We never received our scotch eggs and sausage rolls and it wasn't until I asked about them after the entrees came that I was told they had run out. And we were never told that the beef wellington, which we ordered in place of the steak and ale pies that they had run out of, was almost $20 more than the steak and ale pies. Then, the bill came and the scotch eggs and sausage rolls were still on the bill, which I failed to notice at the time, so we had to return and ask for a credit for those two items. This was the worst experience we've had at this restaurant. We've had the blonde waitress before and she can be abrupt but this time, she crossed the line into being downright rude and we all felt unwelcome as a result. And to receive the treatment and have this many issues while celebrating special family events was disappointing. I'm not sure if and when I'll be back after the poor treatment we received which is a shame because I do love their food.

I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the strangest I've had. It tasted like the orange had been muddled into the drink, and the sugar was sitting undissolved at the bottom of the glass. For such a classic and simple cocktail, I expected it to be made much better. The calamari was just okay. Some pieces were soggy, as if they hadn't been cooked long enough, while others were a bit chewy. The pasta also didn't seem to be made in-house. At nearly $40 for an entrée, it felt overpriced, especially when there are several nearby restaurants that make their pasta from scratch for a similar or lower price. Our waitress did her best despite seeming overwhelmed and having some difficulty with the portable POS system. She remained polite and attentive, so I don't fault her for the experience. Overall, this wasn't the quality we remembered, and unfortunately, we won't be returning.
