We stopped here today for the French dip that is raved about by many. We got the French dip to go and had a picnic in the park. When you first unwrap the French dip you get an aroma of garlic. I feel like they make their French dips with garlic bread. I love garlic but it was definitely a first to have a French dip on garlic bread. The meat I found to be cut thicker than I'm used to but it was tasty. The au jus was perfect though. It wasn't too salt or bland. While I don't understand the hype, it was a decent sandwich. And I like the garlic aspect minus the greasiness from the butter. It seemed soaked in butter which to me is off putting and takes away from the original concept and composition of a true French dip. read more

This was our first time trying this and I must say it was pretty amazing. My girl got the hot meatball sub and I go the classic Italian toasted and man it was juicy and tasty. The staff there is super friendly. This place is small But there were a few tables to dine at. We started off with the garlic toast. I do wish it was a tad more crispy but otherwise delicious! Perfect amount of garlic. We also got a plain cheese pizza. The cheese on it was amazing. Fantastic cheese burn and cheese pull! Good sauce to cheese ratio too. Don't be stumped; this place is phenomenal. All surfaces were clean, including the drink area. Decor is definitely small town pizza shop and it's adorable and fun. Everything was well organized and in good repair. Parking lot is a little tight as it's shared with several other businesses. Staff is incredible! So friendly and hard working. Everyone was dressed appropriately, had good hygiene, and had professional interactions with each other and guests. When ordering, an employee was making ranch behind the counter from fresh ingredients which I appreciated seeing and which was really tasty. I had the first lunch special: two slices of pizza with any two toppings and a drink. Phenomenal. Cheese pull was insane. Ingredients were fresh and perfectly cooked. Crust was thin, flavorful, and perfectly chewy. I tried several teas and they were all fantastic, perfectly brewed. Overall, a killer deal! My next visit I would like to try one of their sandwiches. My first time coming in and absolutely loved it! I was around the area wanting a quick bite and I came across Stumpy's. It's kinda hidden but for sure worth the try. I like the atmosphere, it seemed like a family small business. The service was amazing and super friendly and was able to explain the menu when I had a question. The pizza I got was huge!! Or straight up in front of your nose to let the toppings melt into your happy mouth unobstructed by anything. Like basil? They do a thicker chiffonade and tumble it on, all fresh. It feels healthy. Lol!. My hubby scored a slice of sausage and loved it - hints of caraway and the sausage was a lovely combo of perfect little crumbles that only the wise understand how to make happen. Beef sandwich on garlic bread made my hubby SING. Me too. Perfection. Just right, down to the butter and the au jus dip. Oatmeal cookie was big, soft and buttery rich with raisins. We live near AJ. I was here before for pizza and pastrami sub and it was all great. This time I wanted to try their Calzone and buffalo wings-WOW-more winners and the calzone was the best I've had in years. The ricotta cheese is Pollyo direct from NYC. My calzone was loaded with hot salami, pepperoni, sausage etc. and came with a large container of delicious marinara sauce for dipping. This is easily the best Calzone deal in Phoenix and it's huge; so also best value. The wings were large and in charge with great tangy hot sauce with my favorite bleu cheese. Delivery - we recently moved to the area and tried placing an order for delivery and was told they don't deliver to my address when my address is literally a 10 minute drive - straight shot. I was placing a small order of $70.00 dollars but don't know why I was given a second excuse where she added that they are a small establishment and couldn't accommodate us. What was weirder was that after she took my name she then said she couldn't deliver to me. I do have a Hispanic name (Paulina) and couldn't understand what had changed after asking my name! As I get off my late shift to get pizza near by at stumpys, I arrived to the restaurant which had a couple employees sitting outside the tables vaping which as soon as I parked in front one of the employees groaned so loud in front of us and yelled come one we are basically closed. But, Stumpy's deserves 5 stars because: it's delicious, quality and generous ingredients, and locally owned. Their proprietary sausage is my highest recommendation--sliced or crumbled. Holy delicious fluffy amazingness of pizza and wings. We couldn't even believe how fricking amazing the pepperoni pizza and medium/hot wings we got. We got the pizza and wings special: large cheese pizza (we added pepperoni for $2) more, and 24 wings for $34. It fed two adults (who looove pizza), and a 10 and 5 year old, with roughly 4 pizza slices and 5-6 wings left over. It was PLENTY of food and for a great price. If I didn't have any shame I would have happily ate the rest of the pizza ALL BY MYSELF!!! We took the first bite and again was just so surprised at how good it was!
