Really glad we stopped by today! The sandwiches were delicious- we opted for two large subs to share. If you like Tuna Salad theirs is awesome - not too heavy on the mayo and there was good, crunchy onion and spouts as well as tomato with nice soft white sub bread. We also had the Larido - sauerkraut, Dijon mustard and provolone with pastrami on a nice crunchy bread. We also order a couple of potato salads- it had a nice tang to it - maybe sour cream? The service was very prompt and the gal who took our order was really nice. The restaurant was clean and there was a nice amount of tables outside too. Typically this place is 4-5 stars. However the last two visits have been sub par. The zohan has had way too much mustard making it inedible. During our last visit there was no one in there and the service at the counter appeared bothered that we were looking at the menu and rushed us to make a selection. read more

Wonderful place and Jeff the owner makes you feel like a valued customer. We vacationed in HHI last week and stopped in the Stu's after reading positive reviews and we weren't disappointed The sub bread is freshly made, soft and delicious. The meats, cheeses and toppings are spot on. We witnessed Jeff training a new worker who took our order and he was such a breath of fresh air. Patient, encouraging and kind. I could have easily gone with 2 stars, but based off some other factors we will go with a 3 or I wish a 3.5 - Recently ordered some sandwiches over the phone, then picked up and brought back to the beach. My wife had a ham & cheese with extra cheese and I went for the Jaws. My wife also saw fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and grabbed a couple! When we got to the beach my wife's sandwich was wrong . It was still tasty and the meat was good, but the bread is thick so the bread to meat/cheese ratio wasn't great. Unfortunately, the "dijon" was the absolute most pungent/spicy mustard I have ever tasted. It was like straight wasabi flavor and was so overwhelming that you could not taste anything else. Another person in our party also got the same sandwich and they had the same problem. And there was so much of it that we both agreed the sandwich was inedible. We scraped off as much as possible and didn't eat the bread. It was still potent. It was Fire , but not in a good way... The chocolate chip cookies were top tier! So good that later in the week we ate at Gringos next door and went back to Stu's for some cookies! Again, if I were to base it off my sub alone I would probably give it a 2. Stu, PLEASE put a warning or note on that sandwich that it is NOT a honey dijon or even a normal mild dijon like Grey Poupon, you are using Satan's Dijon from the surface of the sun! Busy busy place for lunch, and for good reason! We stopped by looking for a quick, light lunch. While we had to wait a little bit since there were several people in front of us but it was worth it. We were between a few of the subs but we got a Sweet Carolina to split. The sandwich was nice and hot when it came out, and just the perfect size and light-ness just before our workout. And it was tasty too! The locale is pretty small, and there's a bunch of tables outside. I can honestly say I triple dipped at this place of course about a week and I wasn't the only one that loved it. My wife and myself were very amazed about the food down here typically we're from the north and it's very hard to find a place like this that actually goes out their way and has decent food. I know that sounds very lackluster. I used to be called the angry food critic on here, as I am on Google and I am very particular because I used to do this all the time but because due to lack of restaurants down here and decency and food it's very hard to find decent food, but this is coming from someone like I said from the North that actually likes Sandwiches and would be someone that would typically visit a deli and when I say this is decent, I mean decent. The ambience is very nice. The staff is very nice. The people are very nice that run this location and I really appreciate the fact that they care about their customers. Everything is homemade and you don't get that bread that's made out of Styrofoam that they just pop out of a bag and then throw it at you and tell you that they put it in the oven or whatever these people actually go out of their way and make the bread it makes a difference! read more

Came to Stu's in search of a quick sandwich for lunch during our trip to HHI. It was spring break and pretty packed everywhere, and we expected to wait in a long line, but was surprised to have been served so quickly. The customer service was great and got recs for the top picks for sandwiches. We got lucky with seats and didn't have to wait long for our order. The owner(?) came by with our sandwiches and was super nice and welcoming from start to finish...which was so refreshing! The vibes were part college-town and part North Shore surf shack, and completely unexpected of HHI. Sandwiches were fresh, HUGE, and packed with flavor. Stu's Surf Side serves up bona fide bangers. I recommend the half sandwich with the brocolli cheddar soup. Prices are bit high for South Carolina but very much worth it. The staff is super friendly. They also serve beer which is appreciated. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The only thing I'd point out is that the address/map on yelp doesn't route to the restaurant location. I recommend that be fixed as they're surely losing some business due to that. read more
