    Sausage sandwich
    Gordon S.

Started our vacation here, based on a friends recommendation. It was spot on and we will be back later in the week! Cute place is a busy shopping area but worth the hunt. Jess had #9 which was a HUGE roast beef sand which. A lot (and I mean a lot) of meat and she couldn't finish half. I ate some too. It was delicious. I had #29, the hot sausage with pepper and onion. Delicious and made fresh. Abs the bread? Omg you have to try. It's house made and by someone who knows how for all their sandwich's. Splurge and get the full size, so you'll have the other half the next day. Friendly service and busy but fun vibe.

Great sandwiches -nothing fancy but bread soft and fresh and generous portions. We went half an hour before closing and the chairs were all up on the tables and inside dining all cleaned up. We were greeted by a friendly host and the sandwiches were made promptly. Since it was close to closing only two soup choices.

This place was absolutely amazing--such a hidden gem that's been here for years, and we can't believe we hadn't tried it sooner. We will definitely be back and plan to make this a regular stop. We ordered a variety of subs, including a chicken salad sub, a turkey and avocado sub, and a pastrami Reuben (they all have names and numbers on the menu, which makes ordering easy). Every sub was a hit, but the real standout was the bread. It was hands down one of the best parts of the meal--fresh, flavorful, and honestly addictive. As someone who loves Jersey Mike's bread, this was far superior. We paired our subs with Vick's chips and sodas, which rounded everything out perfectly. We sat inside since the outdoor seating was full, and the interior was filled with memorabilia and details that really told the story of the place and added to the experience. It felt welcoming and full of character. The owner--or the gentleman working the register--made the experience even better. He was constantly checking in, taking orders, delivering food, and making everyone feel at home. His positive attitude and ability to juggle everything so seamlessly truly stood out and made us want to return. Between the outstanding subs, the warm service, and very reasonable prices--especially while traveling--this place checks all the boxes. We'll absolutely be back and only wish we had one back home.

    #18 Calibogue (ham, turkey, bacon)

Delicious!! Idk how they bake the bread but it's so fluffy and soft. I got the #18 (ham, turkey, bacon) and definitely should have gotten the half. They load it so full that the size is deceiving! I powered my way through about 3/4 of the sub and now I need to lie down. Definitely will return!

I absolutely love Stu's, and they have the best sandwiches of all time. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a cute beachy/nautical theme. I try to eat at Stu's multiple times when I come to Hilton Head for vacation. I love their meatball sub and the islander. Their bread is super tasty and addicting, they must make it fresh daily. The sandwich ingredients are always fresh and delicious. If you want a good sandwich, go to Stu's!

I came here passing through with a party of 17 people while visiting Hilton Head. We were just looking for a quick bite. To be honest, I was very hesitant to come here because I thought it'd be hectic to have a bunch of people sit in their restaurant and order. The restaurant isn't too big but it seated all of us comfortably. The staff was super kind and handled all our orders like a pro! We even found out one of the staff members was from Toronto like myself. The sandwiches came out super fast which was great since I was starving. Now onto the food. I got the calibogue. My partner and sister got the WOW tacos with some gumbo. The main thing that makes this sandwich special is the bread. It was so fluffy and soft. It really elevated the entire meal. I think I can say that this was the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. I know it may seem like a basic sandwich, but the portions and quality of ingredients really stand out. I hope I can come here again in the future.

    Pork taco
    Patricia B.

This taco was absolutely delicious. I know it looks a bit messy and granted, it is BUT it was worth it and so well made. The pork was soft and the toppings seemed very fresh. It came with a side of salsa that also paired well with the taco. We walked in with a party of 17 people and the establishment was so accommodating and welcoming which made the experience one of the best I've had during my time in Savanah. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're in the area.

Good sandwiches- I looked before went easy ordering. Some indoor and outdoor seating- prices - slightly higher- wanted to post still reasonable - get in and out fast #18 and #9 Posting updated **** prices summer 2025

Man oh man, don't think I've had a better sub! I tried a turkey/bacon one and my word it was delish. I got it toasted and that made it absolutely amazing. I walked in and was greeted by the friendly man behind the register who I later found out his name was Matt. He was amazing. He gave me a run down of the menu and some recommendations once I told him my first time there. Once I got my food and sat down to enjoy he checked on me plenty of times and remembered my name. Great food and even better customer service thanks to Matt.

The Beach Club - Stu's bread is the key ingredient to their awesome subs!
    Kristine K.

Every time that I visit the island, Stu's is a MUST visit. The bread is made freshly in house (literally you can see them back there making it when you walk in), which is the difference maker. A standard sandwich is 8" and packed with meats/toppings, and unless you are really hungry, I suggest sharing it. There are lots of sandwich options from hot to cold deli meats and vegetarian. Service is from a counter, but there is a nice sized seating area if you choose to dine in. Usually, we take ours to go to enjoy at the beach or pool.

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.

Was expecting…read moreto be blown awhile, but unfortunately, my family and I left thinking the food here was just okay. Started off with the May River Blue Crab Dinner, which came packed with crab! This was good - warm, creamy, and slightly cheesy. It came with tortilla chips and pita bread - tasted better with the tortilla chips IMO. We all decided to share the potato chip meatloaf sandwich, low country boil (for 1), and seafood parlor (with blackened fish). Overall, all these entrees were just okay. The meatloaf was too mashed for my liking and had decent flavor. It was essentially a large chunk of meat sandwich between two slices of thin pita bread. The seafood parlor was good, and came with a decent amount of shrimp, sausage, and blackened fish. The red rice was slightly overcooked, but all the protein was cooked nicely. I could have done without the sweet chili sauce. The low country boil was plenty for 1 or to share. Service was good, especially with the restaurant being constantly busy.

The outside looks to be going through some renovation, but the interior looks like it's almost done. Open space, nice and fresh. You place your order at the counter (2 menus- one for dine in, one for take away) and they bring it to your table. We both ordered the chicken sandwich, one Nashville, one regular and made meals of it with tater tots and chips. We both had tea, though they had Coke products as well. The chicken was very freshly fried and delicious. Great taste. Both the tots and chips were also nice and crispy, plus piping hot. Couldn't ask for nicer or quicker service. We chatted with the owner/chef on our way out- couldn't have been nicer. Highly recommend and we'll be back to try other menu items (chicken dinners, shrimp and grits etc.). Plenty of 'southern' representation on the menu to choose from without being too greasy or over-the-top. This felt like home cooking in a trend forward atmosphere. Don't let the exterior discourage you from trying- you'll be glad you did.

Debbie and I stopped in about an hour before closing, not expecting much--just a quick bite. What we got instead was hands down one of the best seafood meals I've had in a long time. First off, we met the owner, Jim Scully--absolute legend. Friendly, genuine, and actually takes the time to sit and chat. You just don't see that anymore. Great conversation, great energy... set the tone right away. Now let's talk FOOD... * Fried oysters & shrimp - ridiculously good. Light, crispy, not greasy at all. You can tell everything is top quality. * Coleslaw - vinegar-based, shredded, and honestly reminded me of proper German kraut salad. Perfect balance with the seafood. * Soft shell crab... alright, this is where things got serious. "It was like a circus in my mouth... just an explosion of flavors." I'm not exaggerating. The texture was creamy, not oily, and the batter was just perfect. One of those bites where you just stop and look at each other like... yep, this is special. On top of that: * Everything is made with high-quality ingredients * Prices are very reasonable for what you're getting (honestly, some places charge double for worse) * BYOB (bring your own wine/beer = big win ) * Huge menu--seafood, ribs, BBQ, pulled pork, chicken, desserts... you name it Final verdict: (three thumbs up from Debbie & me) If you're in Hilton Head and even thinking about seafood--this is a hidden gem you don't want to miss. We'll 100% be back.
