This salon is excellent! They do hair, nails, waxing, you name it! It is really a one stop shop. I called ahead and booked an appointment (though you don't need to) on a Saturday a few weeks ago and got a manicure, pedicure , and eyebrow wax. The woman (Annie) who did my nails really took her time and made my nails look perfect! I am very particular about the design and shape of my nails, and she did excellent work. She was very patient as I changed my mind on colors and explained my vision for each nail. I also thoroughly enjoyed the long leg massage (which a lot of places speed through!). She also showed me a menu of the products that they use, because I kept mentioning how nice everything smelled and felt on my skin. I don't remember the name of the product, but their entire line is VERY nice quality and organic. You can purchase any of the products they use in the salon before you leave. The eyebrow waxing was also done very well. It was quick and painless and the shape was exactly what I asked for. I am always hesitant when trying a new place for eyebrow waxing since it impacts your face! Again, she did a great job and put on a nice cooling lotion/gel afterward that smelled like a tropical vacation. It was a great experience all around and the owner Hanh is super sweet! The friendliest, most welcoming salon I've ever been to. I am always greeted immediately by name and the ladies always know what I need and want. They go above and beyond for me by offering me hot tea and have fed me fresh cut watermelon! They spoil my girls (ages 5 and 7) by painting their nails while they wait for me and giving them balloons, lollipops, and cookies when they get restless. We had a really nice first visit here. The owners are very friendly and the place is well kept. We took our 2 daughters here for haircuts and they both turned out great. They take their time and check with us throughout each major cut to make sure we're good with the length etc. Price wise they are a bit on the higher side considering we only opted for a basic cut without any layering or anything else. Style Studio Salon is a clean, comfortable, and relaxing salon comprised of professionals who has been cutting hair for years. Style Studio Salon just recently opened up in central Newark but I have been getting my hair cut by the manager, Hahn, for years. I first met Hahn several years ago at another salon. Generally, I get a zero on the sides and a two or three on top with a fade in between. After trying out several different people, I found that Hahn was very good at cutting men's hair as well as doing fades. I would like to think that she has sharpened her skills with lining up the front of men's hair due to continuously practicing on my hair as well. Style Studio Salon is located in central Newark, near the corner of Thornton Avenue and Cedar Boulevard. It is located in the same shopping center as Home Depot but is found around the corner at the second to last business (next to the Fish N' Chips business). My only complaint about this plus, thus far, is that some homeless people tend to congregate to the rear of the Home Depot but I have never had a problem with them and the local police depart seems to keep them on a tight leash so really its a non-issue. Style Studio Salon is warm and cleanly place. There is a nice waiting area with comfortable bench seats and I have always found coffee and condiments ready for the helping. Beyond the barber chairs, you will find several pedicure stations which, yes, I have tired and have found to be very clean as well. I have actually gotten several pedicures here and have never experienced any issues, i.e., infections or other issues that I have heard about from other shops. I have been to the doctor several times in the past for in-grown toe nails but the doctor have never done even half as good of a job as Style Studio Salon has done in remedying this painful issue. If you have ever had an in-grown toe nail, you know it can be painful. You wouldn't think a salon would be an appropriate place you would go to correct that issue but Style Studio Salon has been amazing in that aspect. If you are from Newark, you know there are several choices out there. There's Rayzor Sharp, George's, Supercuts, and various others. To me, what sets Style Studio Salon apart from the others is that it is one stop shop. Whether you are looking to get your wife's hair cut, yours, your children's, or getting another service done, Style Studio Salon is the place to go. When you go there, ask for Hahn. WOW! I walked in for a manicure a couple of weeks ago and Nancy & Hanh both recognized me from a prior salon! I didn't want to write a negative review since she's a nice lady, but this experience might be helpful for some ladies. I teared up after coming back from her salon as I noticed a massive hair loss. In January, I went into the salon for all-over hair color by bringing my own hair color and developer. When she was ready to apply the hair color to my hair, I noticed that she had mixed the color by using the entire hair color cream tube (3 oz, 90 ml) with a very small amount of developer in a small cup. I asked her, "You might wanna put more developer?" She said, "No". I am deeply disappointed how little knowledge she has about the mixing ratio. Even if she doesn't know 1:1 ratio, at least she should know the reasonable mixing ratio. I still don't understand why she decided to use the entire cream with a very small amount of developer. I kinda felt that it's gonna go wrong while she was applying the hair color to me. Every day, till today, I blame myself for trusting her. I presume that she knows what she's doing as she received so many 5-star reviews. Hanh, you are a very nice lady, and I really want to be your recurring client. You were in a rush on that day, so you didn't do layer by layer at the back. I wish I had chosen a different stylist if you couldn't focus on my hair color because of your next client. I rather write a good review and get a nice result when I go to a hair color professional. Instead, my hair loss was so horrific that I have to cover with a headband. read more
