I was in the area shopping and wanted a coffee, I decided to try this cute little place out. It caught my attention because it was a drive up coffee shop but the weather was nice and we wanted to sit outside. They have a cute little seating area & the staff was friendly. I tried the Mexican Mocha, iced, the flavor reminded me of being a kid. We also had a Subterranean Açaí Bowl, plenty of fruit, oats and honey on top. Next time I'm in the area, I know where I'll be stopping.

Service was wonderful today! So glad I was told about this business having a drive through as I didn't go to the other location because I didn't feel like dealing with parking. Got the Sub açaí bowl and it was delicious. Bummed they don't have almond butter or chia pudding. So I might try other spots going forward if I feel like getting out of my car.

Friendly employees. This coffee shop offers muffins , quiche, and Cinnamon Rolls besides unique coffee flavors! They share the parking lot of When you're in South Park , try their coffee out! P0

There were lots of reviews on the Acai bowls and I'm sure they are one of the best in town based on the pictures posted alone! Great place to grab coffee and go if you're local in the neighborhood. Probably not the safest as their are homeless (but that's more of the city's issue. There's plenty of seating and a lovely outdoor San Diego vibes. It's also located near other food trucks too so that's a plus. Tried the Keith Richards $6.75 (4 shots of espresso and Mexican chocolate). This drinker kicked my booty and I love it. The other drinks that my group had 1-2 shots and were more drinking for flavor than the coffee itself. The drinks can be drowned in milk, but the baristas are very accommodating and can adjust upon request. +Lots of parking in the Target parking lot +Outdoor seating and a bench -Safety

This is a great local place to try. I love this place. Small and cozy. There is a table to sit or drive thru which is perfect. The waitress are so nice. I for the ice lavender latte is very good. Açaí bowl is also good and it's bigger than other place. Great place to try

Ok hear me out--Subterranean is the best coffee in South Park. You might be thinking, but what about Communal, or Cafe Madeline, even Dark Horse?? I will say those are all great, but what it comes down to for me is Subterranean has all their great qualities--and more--in one. I think the highlight is their coffee most of all. I always get some form of iced caramel oat milk latte and theirs tastes the best and the sweetest. Other than the coffee, they're fast, offer drive-thru & outside seating, have great people, and offer a lot on their menu including food and smoothies. I have to stop myself from driving here before work everyday because it's so easy! Love, love, love.

Cute spot in a little hur. You can drive up if you want or sit and enjoy in the chairs and tables outside. Really nice peeps working here and the coffee is delicious. I had the Coconut Explosion and it was nutty and helped quench my coconut craving. Hubs had the Chocolate Hazelnut Mocha and said it was the best he's ever had. Definitely drop by and grab something if you're nearby.

I enjoyed a very nice yogurt, banana, and strawberry smoothie from this Subterranean Coffee location. It's not a brick and motor, but more of a kiosk with seating and a drive thru. The smoothie was very good. The banana and strawberry flavors were right up front, but I would of liked to taste that yogurt a bit more. The smoothie had good consistency which means it was thick yet creamy and easy to drink. Although, one has to be careful to avoid brain freeze. The two young ladies running the kiosk were super nice and offered good senses of humor.

Another great place for Acai. My daughter and I had the protein bowl with peanut butter but even without it it would still have been just right for me. For some reason or another whenever I have a chance to pick up a bowl and have devoured it it somehow settles well in my stomach. This may be a little corner venue but their Acai bowls are worth trying.

I'm the nightmare customer that walked in 5mins before closing; 1:55pm. A sweet and kind barista walked up to my car in the drive thru and I asked if the acai Bowls were still available. They said Yeah of course! So I ordered and paid. Because I came right before the storefront was closing for the day, I assumed my bowls were gonna be a little dinky maybe sparce, as punishment for making them stay longer than intended. WAS. I. WRONG. LOOK AT THESE BOWLS. STILL JAM PACKED WITH ALL THE GOODIES. NOT AN INGREDIENT SKIMPPED ON. EVERY SPOT AVAILABLE WAS FILLED. What a gift to be thankful for a day after Thanksgiving. This is true customer service. Thank you really thank you. I didn't feel like a burden and I didn't feel any animosity from the barista. Thank you for demonstrating hospitality to its fullest.

Great little local spot to get Acai bowls in South Park. They have a few different ones to choose. I went with the Unicorn Pitaya bowl. Fruit was fresh and portions were perfect. I was able to mix the fruit and get some fruit in every bite. The coconut topping had a little crunch to it and was great for adding texture. The only food I would not try are the muffins/pastries sitting in clear container on counter. They looked very dried out and unappetizing. They have outside seating but it's right next to the road and not my favorite place to eat outside so I take my order to go.

Finished my yoga class and was in the mood for a good ol smoothie. Hopped on yelp and cane across this gem! The gentleman who helped me was super friendly and recommended the Siamese Basil smoothie. I'm glad I took him up on the recommendation because it was probably my favorite smoothie I've ever had. All of the flavors mixed and complimented each other so well! I don't live in the area, but the next time I'm around, I'll definitely be back for another!!

The matcha was creamy, rich, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. One thing to know if you're ordering matcha or a latte--they only offer oat milk, not almond milk. My husband loved his coffee and said the espresso was smooth, flavorful, and let the coffee shine without being overcomplicated. The shop itself is really cool too. There's an art installation inside, an outdoor patio with additional seating, and I noticed quite a few people picking up bags of espresso beans while we were there. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back.

Artwork is very beautiful and fits the Barrio Logan scene perfectly. I arrived with nobody inside the business minus the workers, you had maybe 2 people outside enjoying the scenery and their drinks. Not greeted upon entering the business just gave me that stare with not asking if I had any questions. I dont recall his name but he was very skinny, curly hair or wavy and i believe he had braces, but not sure if he was having a bad day but something wasn't all there. I ordered 2 drinks, I forget the other but it had cinnamon on top. The drinks were just hand on the counter without saying which drinks is which, so i asked which one is which. Didn't hear me, so i kinda said again and he pointed them out not in a nice or rude way but the approach of how it was handled was not friendly. How can you have Mazapán without the Mazapán crumbles which are very iconic to the drink. I just found it super strange and did not care for it. The cinnamon based drink was good tho, which I'll give them that. Experience could have been better.

Wait outside on the sidewalk (no exterior seating) and someone will come to take you inside. Do not ring the door bell. The theme is to take it slow. Each customer typically waits 20-30 minutes to enter as part of how they do things, even if there is open seating inside. Not sure if they use a timer to space entries but it seems consistent. They take one group in at a time. Interior: A few tables around the wall and then bar seating. Would not recommend for parties greater than 2, there just isn't the space. They welcome service animals, babies/children and strollers from what I observed. The music was very, very loud. It was difficult to hold a conversation. I did not see a bathroom. Ordering process: After seating you wait for a little bit for them to bring small water cups and a QR menu with a table number and a set of rules. They do not have a physical menu, you must use your phone to order. Cell phone reception was dicey and took a long time to load. They have an interesting concept where you have a digital 'tab' open on their toast website. Unfortunately you must provide your full name, email and phone number. They have pour over drinks (note these can take 15-20 minutes), matcha, Hojicha and others. You may only order one drink per person at a time. They have a small snack menu with rotating foods. They use oat milk only. No substitutions allowed. After mobile ordering, drinks take 20-30 minutes as part of their take it slow vibe. Matcha $8 is from Paru tea and was very good. Hojicha $8 was too milky and didn't have a strong enough flavor. When you are done you walk to the register by the door and wait to be checked out. If they are making a drink you wait until they are finished. I wasn't really a fan. Staff were brusque. Music was too loud to converse.

The menu featured various matcha tea drinks which seems to be all the rage right now. The same seating arrangement of the bar countertop and tables across from it was available if you wanted to hang out and chill. A sign behind the bar described the ceremonial grade matcha that was used with the region of origin and the flavors imparted to the powder. Five different matcha drinks were offered along with hot and cold coffees and lattes. The top three matcha choices were priced at $8 each. I chose the Ordinary Pleasure which was the first one. Pandan sticky rice milk and mango puree were added to the matcha and topped with a salted coconut foam. I wasn't a fan of the foam, but the matcha flavor was intense and contrasted by the fruity puree on the bottom of the cup. The baristas were very focused with measuring the exact amounts for each ingredient in the drinks they were preparing. The matcha quality seemed to be very good based on what I tasted so maybe it's why the price was $1 higher than what I have tried elsewhere.

I also heard from another customer that the Thai coffee had a slight mocha taste to it which I thought was interesting. I'm indifferent to powdered taro milk teas, although this one in particular, I did not enjoy. It was thick and sludgy, with an undertone of medicine reminding me of pepto bismol. The color was lovely, but not the taste. I wouldn't order this particular drink again. The drink I chose was medium size and it was only $5.38 (or 5.83, I can't remember & I don't think I got a receipt) ish which I can appreciate! The top portion of the drink was the Thai coffee and I really did like the flavor. Next time I'll get a different drink for sure! My friend tried the Green Thai Tea for the first time and really enjoyed the flavor of it. It had a floral jasmine + vanilla taste, a little bit on the sweet side-- but refreshing and delicious. The prices are pretty good (coffee and milk teas) and they also have smoothies (which can be on the more expensive side $9-12). Water cup is free upon request. They also have only a handful of seatings, but it's a nice area to walk around. They have umbrellas as well, but they do need a heavier stand for windy days as I've witnessed it fall into a car several times.
