So... my last attempt at finding a suburban groomer left me in enraged tears and my puppy with a bleeding nail. I decided to give my fellow Yelpers ONE more shot to guide me in the right direction before driving my dogs 45 mins into the city to go back to my fabulous Chicago groomers. Luckily, you guys know what's up. Twice now I have called like a total jerk mere hours before closing to ask if I can rush my babes in for a nail trim and file before they close, and both times they've been so wonderful about squeezing us in. Heather, who I take from these other reviews to be the owner, is as wonderful as all these reviews say - she's genuine, sweet, and AMAZING with dogs. Our rescue jack russel puppy is terrified of everything in the universe, but lets her hold him and trim his nails - and even offers a few extra snuggles before returning to us. My other dog is a bratty little guy, but he has never squirmed or snapped at them, because they are patient and VERY good at what they do. And most importantly, both visits, both dogs, all rushed - and NO BLOOD. And not because they leave their nails long or something stupid like that - but because they know what they're doing. As soon as I shake my procrastination, I'm scheduling them both full grooming appointments - I feel totally comfortable leaving my babes with Heather and her staff. Took my dog here today to get a bath and the basic grooming. They were very informative over the phone while setting up the appointment. When I arrived they were extremely friendly to both me and my dog Lily. When I picked her up they explained everything that was done (talked about how they were able to calm her through the nail trim so that she didn't even seem to notice). Lily seemed quiet happy after the groom, and even licked the groomer goodbye. They let her play with the other dogs there which is a plus. I am so happy that I was recommended this place by one of my fellow dog park parents and will be happy to tell others about our positive experience here. read more

I took my poodle mix in for a bath and groom - they shaved her to the skin without a phone call. I realize sometimes it is necessary to shave a dog - but a phone call should be made prior to doing so. My dog was nicked in several places on the underside of her tail, and is now in extreme discomfort. I think they were trying to get her groomed in a hurry and took the quickest route. read more

Very disappointing. I made an appointment in advance to have my dog groomed; the appointment was for 8:30 AM on a day when I was going to be working at home anyway, so it worked out for me. I showed up at 8:25, waited until 8:40, and no one was there; Sudzy Puppy was not open. Their voice mail states that their normal business hours are 8:30 AM - 6 PM, but to "call in advance to schedule an appointment since our hours may vary." I want to do business with local, independent businesses, but my time is valuable, too. Reliability is important, too. read more

Thank you, Sudzy Puppy! I took my little chihuahua mix in here today to get cleaned up and they did a wonderful job. The staff was very nice on the phone and in person. One of the employees - I think his name was Dan - picked up my furry friend and held her when we came in. I really appreciated this because she is nervous around new people and snuggling her makes her comfortable. I have tried several places around town to take my little toy poodle and my mom's toy poodle. This is by FAR the best place to go! This first time I ever went one of the owners ( heather ) had a cow when she saw my little peanut Lola. She thought she was the cutest thing and wouldn't give her back to me ( lol ). I was searching for a really good place in the Naperville area to trim my chihuahua's nails because he HATES having his nails cut. I wasn't sure how he would act at a groomer because he's never been to one, but this place is perfect! The staff is very friendly, they work quickly, and they made sure he was comfortable before taking him back into the room. I was in and out within 10 minutes. Don't hesitate to take your dog to Sudzy Puppy! I am very particular about who grooms my dog. Heather is wonderful with my Emme (an American Cocker Spaniel) and gives her a great haircut. What a great place. We have 2 beagles, one of which is very shy of people. We've been told by other groomers that it takes 2 of them work on my female. I have used them exclusively since they opened :) Prior to their opening and one time during I went to the groomer we used previous to their opening and didn't realize until afterwards what a TERRIFIC job the folks a Sudzy Puppy do each and every time. Their attention to detail is great, they LISTEN and more importantly EXECUTE what is requested of them. Their prices are comparable to others in the area, since their write up in a local publication, I've found I have to think a little more in advance when planning a grooming session for both my dogs, other than that it is business as usual with them, I highly recommend their services as well as their prices... I am new to the area and based on positive reviews on Yelp, took my dog to Sudzy Puppy for grooming. When I first picked her up, I thought they had done a great job; however, when I arrived home she began licking and walking strangely. I quickly realized they had shaved her way too close in her private areas and perhaps even burned her. She was red and inflamed and clearly they had shaved the area too closely. It took her 4-5 days to recover and she was clearly in a lot of pain. When I called Sudzy Puppy to explain what had happened, they didn't apologize or express any concern. I will definitely not be taking my dog back to Sudzy Puppy. Even if you excuse them for making a mistake, expressing no concern/empathy after causing a dog to be in pain and discomfort for 4-5 days is unacceptable. read more

My little Rocky can be difficult. Some have described him as aggressive. We just call him quirky. It was therefore extremely gratifying to finally find the proper groomer for our pup. After trying numerous groomers, I've found the perfect stylist in Josh of Sudsy Puppy. Not only does my Rocky just LOVE Josh but after a wash and cut, my boy looked simply gorgeous. I have gone to Sudzy Puppy many times - it was a yelp review that brought me there in the first place. The first few times was great. My dog is very frightened of going to the groomer and they were very accommodating. The last time, however, was a nightmare. They called to let me know my dog was ready for pick up. When I arrived, they had me pay and asked me to sit for a minute. 20 minutes later, they finally let me know that she was "nicked" and they were having trouble getting the bleeding to stop. Another 10 minutes and they let me know that the styptic and some other product they used to stop the bleeding had caused a chemical reaction and her ear turned black. I finally got the dog and walked out to the car and I had blood all over me. The tip of her ear was cut off and she had burns on her head and under her legs where they had shaved too close. They claimed that she wouldn't stop moving. Seriously? It was her fault for moving? I don't think so. All this AFTER I paid $55. The only thing they offered was the next cut free. Like I would bring my pet back there! read more

I have a 7lb yorkie that is not willing to stay put for me to groom him. So I have to get him to a profesional groomer from time to time, before he changes into a fur ball... At Sudzy Puppy they have the patience to make him look presentable, smell awsome and they even praise him, although he surely wasn't good to deserve it :). I brought my English bulldog here for a quick nail trim and bath even though it isn't very close to where I live because you don't need an appointment and everywhere else I called was already booked. I was unimpressed from the beginning - not by the facility but by the staff/service. When we walked in, a woman who I think is the owner was vacuuming inside the door. She looked annoyed when we walked in, I'm sorry to interrupt your cleaning with a paying customer! I told her the services I was looking to get and she nodded and walked away. Okay....so now what? I stood there clueless for a minute or two, not sure if I should just put him in one of the tubs or if they were going to do his nails first. Thankfully, a younger employee came over and led me back to the nail trimming area. She did a good job with his nails and showed me how to get him set up in the bath. As I was bathing him the older woman came back and started cleaning out the tubs on both sides of the one I was using. As she was spraying down the tubs, she sprayed me in the back of the legs twice, which as a dog owner I'm not overly sensitive about (getting full of water is usually a given when giving a dog a bath) but I just found it irritating. I'm the only person in the place do you really need to do that right on top of us, can you wait 10 minutes so I have full use of the space and we don't have to keep walking around each other? I finished up and paid her, and her icy demeanor continued. I will never understand people in customer service who are rude. That's your job! Anyway, the baths are by weight and she never weighed him so I'm assuming she's basing the prices off of a guess which was also annoying. Next time I will go somewhere else for a nail trim and bathe him at home, I can think of better ways to spend $40. read more

Love this place. Heather and her staff are always friendly and do such a wonderful job. I have been bringing both my goldens here since they were puppies. We are always greeted with a smile, and pets for my pups. They listen to exactly what I would like done, and I am always very happy upon pick up. I don't know what kind of products they use, but my dog's coat has never been so soft! I used to take my dog to petsmart, but never again. I think she's been to Sudzy Puppy three times now and I will continue to be a loyal customer. Their prices are competitive, but what's more important to me is that my dog isn't afraid like she was when we went to petsmart. I love, love, love Sudzy Puppy, and I am sad that we won't be able to take our Fred there anymore (moving back home to Texas). Though we haven't been to them in several months, I understand how important it is for pet parents to find a groomer. Yelp led me to Sudzy Puppy when we first moved to the Naperville area, so I want to share my good experience. Their location can be kind of easy to miss if you aren't familiar with the area, and the outside doesn't look all that impressive, but I trusted them with my little dude immediately. Matt (I don't think he's been there for a while) and (I think) one of the owners immediately took him from me to snuggle. They kindly indulged my paranoid anxiety, and made me feel very comfortable leaving Fred with them. The employees are funky (in a good way), and are so super nice. They are very thorough, and prices are reasonable. I got the impression that they honestly did enjoy what they did and that they cared. I would go back to Sudzy Puppy without hesitation if we were still in the area, and I would definitely recommend them without hesitation. read more

We use the Sudzy Puppy shop for the self wash section. I love it, they have a good sized area, a nice shampoo selection and really good non cage dryers. I just love that I am able to wash my husky there, dry her there and leave all the hair and mess and head home with a clean dog. The price is very reasonable and the staff is nice and helpful. The shop mascot prancer is there to greet you as well. I will continue to use this cute little shop. read more

Dan @Sudzy was great on the phone and when I got there, we fully discussed what I wanted Ponto to have done. The thing that kills this place is that they allow groomer with very little experience groom your dog. The job they did to my Cockapoo looked like I could've done it myself and not spend $50. Seems as if using a little more dog shampoo is going to break their bank, because my dog loses the cleanness scent after the first day. Terrible. I WILL NEVER take my Cody there again. read more
