    Aguachile
    Jose C.

We made reservations thinking this place would be packed. I was shocked to see it more than half empty during brunch right at opening. A few more parties did arrive by the time we were eating, but unfortunately didn't get all the way full. The entrance is a little confusing. The restaurant is upstairs and that is where the host is at. We walked all over looking for this place. We started off with a Bloody Mary. It was served with a pepper and had a nice spicy kick to it. We ordered a side of plantains and my wife ordered their Chilaquiles Rojos. These were served with a red sauce that tasted like something my mom or wife would have made. That says a lot. Some really home style flavors going on here. They also came with a fried egg, anejo cheese, crema and avocado. I don't eat it with avocado at home, and I must say, it adds a lot of flavor. I ordered their Aguachile. It was served with Kapachi fish, coconut, serrano, cucumber and avocado. This is my first time trying aguachile with fish. I've only ever had it made with shrimp. Aguachiles is traditionally a very spicy dish. Suenos version had virtually no heat at all. While still very flavorful, I will admit I was a tad bit disappointed. The good thing is that the plate itself was not disappointing, just the fact that it wasn't spicy at all. You can really taste the cucumber and coconut in their sauce. It had a very tropical and fresh taste to it. It was also served with a side of tostadas which is 100% required to eat this dish. (It looks like they have possibly changed their menu and it now has habanero instead of Serrano.) So I'm really curious now to see if the level is spice has changed up a bit. Overall, I know this is a pop up and it won't be around for much longer. I'll be curious to see what Chef Stephen Sandoval does next. I'll be sure to follow.

Ran a bit late and hostess was kinda bitchy about it so she just left a bad taste in my mouth. Otherwise, the staff and team at Suenos other than the hostess was awesome. Super accommodating, kind and incredibly patient. Drinks - get the Caliente los friscos. Very good. Oysters we're okay. The tostadas were incredible. Especially the mixto. Ceviche was very good. Had a nice kick to it. The Black Caesar was interesting. Didn't really taste like a Caesar salad so their take on it was eh. The pulpo skewer was awesome but I couldn't help thinking about My Octopus teacher. The steak was super delicious. Nicely charred and Smokey. Flan was ok. Wasn't the best ever but this off menu merengue with mango sorbet was great.

Tuna tostada - the sauce was very heavy

I'm torn since I had such huge high expectations and they didn't let me down in any way, but I thought the food wasn't as great as it could have been. The service was wonderful and attentive and food came out timely, but not rushed. The extra star is for the staff. Plates were okay in size, but many of the flavors weren't as punchy as I would expect. I'd want aguachile to be citrus forward, negro fish to be smoky and sauces to be more in your face. Everything tasted fine, but at the end of the night we decided we don't need to hurry back.

There has been a lot of social media hype around this pop-up, but I was very underwhelmed. The dishes are small, so you have to order at least 4 between two people. This racks up and gets expensive - and with these prices you might as well go to a nicer restaurant in West Loop. The octopus was the best dish and flavorful, but the others weren't anything special. We were recommended the tuna tostada, but this wasn't great and lacked in size and flavor. The soft shell crab was our second favorite dish, and the hamachi collar was tasty too. My cocktail was supposed to be their signature 'spicy margarita' with mezcal, but there was no spice and just lots of sugary juice. Service was super quick and the place unique, but I was pretty disappointed overall!

My husband and I came by here yesterday to check this restaurant out for the first time. Suenos did not disappoint. Suenos Ceviche (10/10) This ceviche was packed full of flavor and I really loved the marinade. Even after the actual ceviche was gone, I was scooping up more of the marinade with the tostadas. Plantains (10/10) Large portion and good for two people to share. The plantains themselves are cooked perfectly, but they are also served some sort of creamy topping. I literally have no idea what the topping was, but it really helped elevate the plantains. Pescado Taco (10/10) I think this is the first time I have ever spent $10 for 1 taco, but this taco was one of the better fish tacos I've had in a while. The fish to topping ratio worked out well. I also loved the hot sauce it came with. Definitely worth ordering.

    Burrito and skirt steak

5/5- highly recommend! Sad that this is a pop up and I wish it was a permanent place. We tried the skirt steak and burrito (which also had steak inside!). Both were delicious. The burrito had just the right amount of crunch and warmth. Tasted fresh and filing. I was very full by the half way through. The ingredients list in the menu said fries so I thought I'd get a side of fries but plot twist- they were inside the burrito! The steak was also delicious. Perfectly cooked to medium and generous portion. The cocktails we tried (bienvenidas las hojitas and caliente en los tropicos) were also delicious. Service was very friendly and quick. I would definitely visit again!!

Overall decent food but didn't live up to expectations. We came on a Wednesday night and we're excited to check out this pop-up in the Soho house. It is open to the public but there is a discount for soho members. We ordered - Suenos ceviche: the ceviche was heavy on the tomato and lime which masked the seafood. It was hard to make out the snapper which was hidden under the sauce. Ceviche is meant to be fresh but this ceviche was pretty disappointing. - Skirt steak: the steak itself was cooked close to medium rare but lacked flavor and char. It was too tough and the quality of the meat wasn't great. The side of potato and grilled tomato was good and the tomato in particular was much needed with the dry steak. - Pulpo skewers: Octopus was good and we liked the sauce drizzled on top with lime. Note that the skewers itself are half potato rather than all octopus so it is less octopus than pictures look. - Cocktails: we ordered the fresco and guera which were both very light. The fresco comes in a topo chico bottle with a chamoy rim which is fun but the cocktail itself was oddly room temperature.

Side of plantains - bigger than we were expecting!

Great service and spectacular food quality! Came for lunch and was shocked it wasn't packed. Everything we ordered exceeded our expectations and came out in a timely manner. I heard it's packed for dinner and brunch, so perhaps lunch is the move! Not pictured was my cucumber mocktail that's on the menu, yum! Started with the salad and it melted in your mouth. Loved the presentation and ingredients. Next I got the cod taco and was not disappointed. It actually was bigger than I was expecting, not one of those mini hand held ones. The side of plantains was filling and glad we didn't get a second because the portion was generous! Overall would come back and recommend to friends!

We only came in a for a drink so can't comment on the food. However- we really enjoyed our beverages and enjoyed spending about an hour here before our dinner reservation. The decor is very cool and the music was lively. I really liked my gin cocktail and the my husband liked his beer. Cool spot to check out if you're near the area.

Incredible pop-up restaurant located inside of SoHo House in the West Loop. It's only open for 6 months so GO NOW! The mariscos concept menu is beyond delicious, you seriously cannot go wrong with anything you order. Our server was so helpful and sweet sharing her recommendations for what to order. The restaurant itself is a bit loud but nothing out of the ordinary for a Friday night in the city. Prices were decent for the locations / what we ordered. Listing what we got below -- everything was great. - tuna tostada - sueños ceviche - pulpo skewers - skirt steak

My visit here exceeded all my expectations-I'm afraid I'm really spoiled now from the quality of all their seafood dishes! We came in on Friday night around 8 and got a high table as walk ins but if you have time to make a reservations that's the safer bet. It's an intimate cozy space with an open kitchen and bar so you can see the whole restaurant from any spot. Since it's small it's a little loud the atmosphere was fun and lively. We started with two drinks. One was caliente en los trópicos which is a tequila (or maybe mezcal) with guava, passion fruit, and coconut. This one was incredible not super sweet and the creamy coconut+smoky alc worked beautifully together. My partner got the tinto en el invierno which reminded me of a sangria but had brandy and some spices in it as well-fantastic. We shared 6 oysters (3 white soy and 3 pico), pico were my favorite- definitely worth getting even if your iffy about oysters. The citrusy spice helps balance any fishy taste. Now for the mains. The pescado taco blew my mind into pieces. It's this massive piece of cod fried in crispy brown batter and served on a bed of shredded cabbage all on a corn tortilla with a side of red salsa. It was crunchy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and moist-fall apart on the inside. This was the best piece of fried fish I've ever eaten. The mixta tostada was a mix of octopus and shrimp with avocado, sliced radishes, and some other ingredients on a tostada and this was also incredible. The textures of the seafood, avocado, and crispy tostada worked so well! The pulpo skewers features octopus that was tender and not over cooked alternating with baby potatoes all drizzled with some chimichurri. I was so pleased with every part of this meal and I'll be on the lookout for more pop ups from this group in the future!

Chef Sandoval is on his way to greatness! Chef-curated the entire experience from the minute you walked in as we began our journey to Baja. From the custom-created artwork and design to the live DJ creating an upbeat musical vibe that set the mood for me. Hats off to the mixologist who designed a drink/wine menu that brought out the uniqueness and flavours of Baja. When it comes to the food, I have two main thoughts. One is flavour profile (layers and umami), and the second does it gives me an emotional reaction. I can confidently say Chef achieved both in every dish we ordered. (chingon oysters, tuna tostada, mixta tostada, kanpachi belly tostada, suenos ceviche, rosarito coctel, aguachile, avocado and asparagus salad, pescado taco, diego burrito, pulpo skewers, and the sinaloa shrimp puerto nuevo.) I hope that this turns into a permanent restaurant!

Given the location in the public area of the Soho house, I honestly thought the portion size would be small for the price, so I was surprised when we asked about portion size and the waiter said that the taco was pretty filling... he was right! This place is actually pretty good value for your price. The ceviche enough is to make me want to come back. It came with tortillas on the side and when eaten together, it was so delicious. They even brought over more tortillas when we ran out to pair with the broth, which exemplifies the great service. The burrito was massive! I didn't try it though since my friend got it. Only thing about the taco is I wish the tortilla was bigger as it was very difficult to eat because it was a thick (which is good) piece of fish

They played good music and wasn't too loud. You could easily carry on a conversation or , like me, continue listening to a podcast. By the time I finished, the place was completely full and a bit noisy, but not bad. I started out with a 10oz Birds of Prey Pilsner. It was very nice. Light and crisp and very easy to drink. I followed that up with Melodious Maibock and ordered the CBG burger with fries. I didn't have lunch so I dove right in and forgot to snap a photo. It was a very good smash burger. It was cooked well and I really liked the combination of pickled onion and caramelized onion. I didn't see it until later but you can add bacon. As much as I loved this burger, bacon would totally take it up a notch! I started chatting with the bartender about their different beers and decided to have the Super Melodious Jalapeño Maibock with the burger. It's soooo different, but in a good way. It paired so well with the burger. You get green bell pepper on the nose and a hint of it on the palate. When you swallow you get a little heat at the back of the throat. It was so good! Great bar. Great food. Great beer. Go check them out!

Bar service can get a little backed up depending on how crowded the place is...one time I was there, the bar was so crowded that I couldn't flag down a server long enough to place a food order so, before I left, I placed my food order to go using the mobile route. Whatever, I didn't care. I'm pretty chill. Anyway, burger was still good when I walked it back to my hotel. When the place isn't slammed, service is like night and day and the place is a bit more quiet. Pop on in if you want to try some good beer, a tasty burger or other pub fare.

It feels upscale but still comfortable. Service was attentive and paced well, especially considering it was Restaurant Week and fairly busy. The Restaurant Week menu offered a great variety. We started with the crispy arancini, which were perfectly golden on the outside and creamy inside with a rich glaze that added a nice depth of flavor. The wild mushroom risotto had great earthy flavor and was very rich, definitely a heavier dish but satisfying if you are in the mood for something indulgent. The gnocchi were soft and pillowy with fresh basil and roasted tomatoes that brightened the dish nicely. For entrées, the filet mignon was cooked beautifully, tender and medium rare with a flavorful sauce that complemented it well. The chicken parmesan had a solid crisp and good seasoning, though it leaned more classic than standout. Portions overall felt fair for the prix fixe price. Dessert was a sweet finish. The tiramisu was light, creamy, and not overly heavy, which we appreciated. Overall, 4 stars. Great ambiance and solid execution across the board. While nothing completely blew us away, it was a well done Restaurant Week experience and I would definitely come back to try more from their regular menu.
